I don't understand how this is not the most played Christmas song. With the staggering nostalgia of the lyrics, the beautiful melody and the mesmerizing passion of Chris Martin's voice, this song is not only my fav Christmas songs, but is one of my all-time favorites, bar none.

It was Christmas 2017 and two devastating hurricanes had passed through Puerto RIco. there was no electricity since the hurricane in October but still people decorated their houses. One day walking through the neighbourhood listening to my playlist this song comes on and by the time Chris sings "Those Christmas Lights" for the first time the electricity returned after months lighting all the Christmas lights and everything on the neighbourhood. It was magical.
Its December 2023, I still love to hear this song this time of year and I think its a masterpiece by Coldplay. Also I believe this is one of their best songs they ever did.. Awesome...

It's tediously dull. I'm not a Coldplay hater but this is not a good track at all, It's so calculated to cash in at Christmas and as such it fails miserably to tick any boxes.

It's sad 'cus there are a LOT of Christmas songs' that have been listening for years and years and then another artist covers it again and people start listening to it again, but this original song doesn't have that attention :(

I don’t know why RUclips‘s algorithm brought me here- but I heard the song and it brought me to tears…. I have been diagnosed with depression since I lost somebody very important and close to me and I can’t get over it. Bc of that loss I am not only depressed but lonely as well- and I when I heard this song it made me realize that I will spend this Christmas just by myself again, which scares me a lot. I will put on a light at Christmas Eve, a light for every person who is struggeling or in pain, for every person who has lost someone and especially for every person that is lonely that day - I hope you will see it and it will give you strengths and make you realize that you are not as lonely as you might think♥️

Fun fact: Christmas is actually a pagan tradition with pagan roots. It has nothing to do with Christianity whatsoever. Basically some dude on church a long time ago decided to make it about Jesus for no absolute reason. People basically just said "whatever" and continued to celebrate it on the same Pagan tradition. It eventually developed to this Christmas culture we know and love/hate today.

This was playing 5 years ago after my aunt's funeral, she passed away 2 days before Christmas, she was 39, and was the sweetest most hardworking single mom on this earth. She was on the hospital for a month before her death. This songs brings bittersweet memories to me, it reminds me of her, of that awful Christmas, of the exact moment we knew she was gone... I have never been able to listen to this song all the way without crying 😢… I introduced my 19 daughter to this while taking her back to college this past spring. It was a rainy day driving her to her school. When she heard it the first time she was silent as I was telling how this song reminded me of the first Christmas her brother was gone from our family as he entered the Navy (2011) and how I missed him a lot. She noticed that I was crying. She cried too as she told me what a great song it is 👏🏽👏🏽. When I went back to bring her home for a small break, she played this song while we were driving to the airport. I don’t know why RUclips‘s algorithm brought me here- but I heard the song and it brought me to tears….
I have been diagnosed with depression since I lost somebody very important and close to me and I can’t get over it. Bc of that loss I am not only depressed but lonely as well- and I when I heard this song it made me realize that I will spend this Christmas just by myself again, which scares me a lot.
I will put on a light at Christmas Eve, a light for every person who is struggeling or in pain, for every person who has lost someone and especially for every person that is lonely that day - I hope you will see it and it will give you strengths and make you realize that you are not as lonely as you might think♥️

Fun fact: Christmas is actually a pagan tradition with pagan roots. It has nothing to do with Christianity whatsoever. Basically some dude on church a long time ago decided to make it about Jesus for no absolute reason. People basically just said "whatever" and continued to celebrate it on the same Pagan tradition. It eventually developed to this Christmas culture we know and love/hate today.

I have never been able to listen to this song all the way without crying 😢… I introduced my 19 daughter to this while taking her back to college this past spring. It was a rainy day driving her to her school. When she heard it the first time she was silent as I was telling how this song reminded me of the first Christmas her brother was gone from our family as he entered the Navy (2011) and how I missed him a lot. She noticed that I was crying. She cried too as she told me what a great song it is 👏🏽👏🏽.
When I went back to bring her home for a small break, she played this song while we were driving to the airport. We both smiled and cried at the same time because she knows how much this song means to me and to her now ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This Christmas is going to be different. My uncle died because of covid and I still can't believe it. It is going to be a really sad christmas, but Coldplay are still here, still give me strenght and still keep me alive.
I'm hoping in a new and beautiful year but I know It is going to be really hard for me, for us, for everyone. But you know, this is the life, challenge after challenge.
