Ok, I would totally love if Gamma Zero is the Cell concept design that's looks like Imperfect's body with Perfect's face. Also, Goku and Vegeta being the universal-hopping warriors while the rest of the Z Warriors protect Earth is a GREAT idea. That sounds like a fantastic way to have both grand and small scale stories, and to give the lesser warriors chances to shine.
I think that the real problem that DBS has had for the longest was the problem of making the series the Goku and Vegeta show, and actively making efforts to push every other character out of the spotlight. DBS has fortunately gotten at least a little better in this regard from the tournament of power and onwards, but it is still not back to where it needs to be in terms of properly using other characters (like how it did in DBZ).
EXACTLY. I don't think people mind when they focus on Goku and Vegeta. Hell, DBS Broly is universally LOVED. THE PROBLEM is when they decide to do it for EVERY ARC. Ever since Resurrection F, it's just been "Goku and Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta, etc.". It gets irritating and repetitive. So hearing that Gohan and Piccolo were the stars of the show this time, was a BREATH OF FRESH AIR. Here's to hoping this isn't just a one time thing and they keep doing stuff like this in the future.
I've seen a take from a gtfanboy about this. They said the reason why people loved dbs because dbs gives other characters spotlight. BUT that "character spotlight" is called fan service. unlike gt blah blah blah. :/
Funnily enough alot of the spotlight was still hogged by the saiyans/piccolo. The earthlings had their moments in the namek and android saga, but after that and even in the saiyan saga they were sorta being pushed away from the spotlight.
Dude don't act like dbz didnt have the same problem about pushing their characters to the side it's a constant problem throughout the franchise dbz isnt a shining gem they cut out nearly half the cast to make it the saiyan show by the end
My biggest hope for Superhero is that it does some really new, fresh stuff for Dragon Ball. I really want it to stay focused on Gohan, Piccolo and Pan. I certainly don't mind some cutaways to Goku, Vegeta and Broly, but I really don't want them taking over the movie, or showing up at the last minute to steal the W. The world of Dragon Ball has infinite possibilities, so I hope that the new animation style is indicative that the team is willing to not play it safe with the story as well.
agreed, i mean... i was gonna watch the whole thing regardless, its masako lol. but i just appreciate it, as opposed to people that wait 10 minutes and 3 midrolls before revealing they dont have any new sourced info

Masako, I've waited a long time to hear your thoughts about this movie. I'm glad the whole Toei situation has been resolved (kind of) so you can now lift the ban. It was awesome that you stood by Mark like that though!
Here's the thing - Masako's premise sounds really realistic and grounded, and fairly interesting. It does not sound groundbreaking. It sounds like a cut-and-dry way to introduce a new movie character, make a modest profit, get some marketing and, as stated, show that Toei is legitimately planning to continue Dragon Ball, keep our appetites whetted. Thing is, anime fans, like fans of most things in the age of the internet, are whiny contrarians. This is basically completely unavoidable when you have millions of individuals all voicing their opinions on the same subject - the moderates aren't bothered enough to comment negatively on it, so you get apologists and you get haters. I hope this movie does well (...I _mostly_ hope this movie does well), but I don't want it to do well because they stamped Dragon Ball on it, I want it to be a good, fun, enjoyable movie. I do think hand-drawn would look better, but hand-drawn animation is also ludicrously expensive and time-consuming, whereas if CG tech hasn't made leaps and bounds by the next movie, you can just reuse the models. Honestly I don't think it looks bad visually, but time will tell. All I'm saying is, I would like a movie every now and then that isn't about Goku, and even contains very little Goku, so long as we don't get another Bio Broly. It's nice to see the supporting cast get to do things, and my biggest hope is that it doesn't end with a Goku fight; my biggest fear is that it will, because only Goku is allowed to win in the movies, unless your name is Bojack or Broly. But I do like this analysis, and I hope the movie turns out somewhat like this, and I hope it earns any reputation it gets - that people don't hate on it just for being different (ffs we've complained how long about being formulaic?) but also don't just swallow it whole. Again, though, only time will tell.
Yeah I agree that Masako's plot idea sounds pretty grounded and straightforward, but tbh that's kinda why I dont think it'll be accurate. Dragon Ball always likes to surprise us and subvert expectations. I'm expecting the movie to try and catch us off guard at least once, like how BoG had Goku fail to defeat Beerus, RF having Frieza blow up the Earth, and the Broly movie having him live (tho tbf calling that a twist is a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea). Of course, I'll be really disappointed if the big surprise is just "haha you though Gohan would win the fight but nah Goku comes in and saves the day". Edit: also just realized masako didnt mention piccolo's new form lol
@@ln7592 Mostly just not being terribly interesting. It's hard to make a villain threatening when two small children, the series' butt-monkey and his wife are able to take him down with no assistance. Also "Broly, again, but he melted" isn't the most compelling of concepts.

I still find it weird that Broly is supposedly a part of the team to the point where people think he's gonna be getting the same treatment aka using god ki or some other transformation
As far as I'm concerned, Broly isn't really a fighter in the traditional sense. He's a gentle spirit that was manipulated into getting revenge for his father. I don't think he will feature very much in the story at all, except occasionally as a wild card. He seems content just to stay out of the way of the rest of the galaxy. Honestly though, I don't get peoples obsession with new forms. I mean, it doesn't make for a more compelling nor entertaining story. Edit: Oh? Broly was in trailer? Scratch what I said. XD
Honestly, I feel like Broly will just become like the rest of the side characters in the story. Goku and Vegeta will surpass him and he’ll be a massive jobber. That’s usually what happens when a strong guy that fights them joins the team, so to speak.
@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 Forms definitely do make for a compelling and entertaining story like in the namek saga Frieza's reveal of having another form added suspense and intrigue. And on a more superficial level new forms are just cool looking and usually come with new abilities that change the dynamic of a fight.
@@johnman8398 duly noted, though I feel that fundamentally speaking that Saga was just built different. Super Sayian was this weird thing that both Vegeta and Frieza brought into and was something that was hyped up into, and his ultimate transformation was born from both hard work and righteousness fury. And even the cell saga did a ok job at basically using the forms to express different philosophies, Vegeta being focused on calculated, physical might, Trunks being naive in following his father without learning the same lessons, and Goku and Gohan just learning to live with their new normal, and Gohan transformation being a manifestation of his maturity. Beyond that, i don’t think ive ever seen transformations used particularly well. Even Ultra instinct, which I think is pretty cool, kinda being demonstrated three times in the same arc to pad out its run time. Though that might be more the studios fixation in overusing Goku more then it itself. Just my opinion though.
While I'm excited about the movie, I don't think that it is as much of a big deal as people want it to be. I believe it would just another fun movie that we are all going to like and love, especially with Gohan and Piccolo's new forms. We are going to talk about it for some time, especially if they include dlc about it for the video games. Goku and Vegeta will still be the stars of series. Also Pan is problably only there for continuity reasons, not even Heroes has bothered with giving her Super Saiyan. She is never going to happen.
@@БогданСуховенко-в3у Well, Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. are 1/64-ish Saiyans and yet they were able to turn Super Saiyan, so that argument is kind of invalid.
Interesting thoughts, but I'm going to disagree with that last part and say we will see Pan, and for that matter Bulla too, get at least to Super Saiyan, especially if Toyotaro gets his way! I just hope this go around he gives it to them in a less cringy way other than the whole "we've been practicing" bit from AF.
@@jackson4901 , lol. We don't know who is father or mother of Goku Jr. Maybe he became 1/2 Saiyan. Anyway if Goku jr is 1/16 Saiyan, that means that he got enough S cells to become Ssj. As for Pan, she just needs more training
My personal thought is that the creator of Gamma 1 and 2 well start to get suspicious about the red ribbon army's intentions when they eventually kidnap Pan which we know is going to happen.
@Percival917 One big way they can do that is making a Universe 6 spin off show. Hit (he should be the main character IMO) and the Saiyans would be great. They could also show some other assassins, mercenaries, and even criminals (he assassinated a mob boss after all; it was great seeing that alien city at night in the rain) to delve deeper in that world Hit is in.
Hi Masako! Hoping you get so see this, I wanted to share something I brainstormed/thought of. While Gero is derivative of Vomit or To Vomit, my mind went a different place. If you flip the vowels of *Ge ro*, you get *Go Re*, which to my imaginative mind sounds like Gray! We have Silver, White, Black, and also Dr. Gray (?) But to my knowledge, the only thing I can find of Gero's son's name is Gebo, and I can't really think of any color pun for that. Maybe Gold if i reeeally stretch it thin. Nice video Masako I like the idea of there being a misunderstanding of Dr Hedo, Gamma 1 and Gamma believing they are heroes and Gohan leading the charge. This will lead to Dragonball being in a new era.
I hope Gohan gets a revamp power scaling wise because he's my 3rd favorite character next to Vegeta & OG future Trunks but. I fear it won't stand up to Broly because Super itself as the latest in the franchise is pretty lackluster SSG/SSB are bland less badass versions of Kaio-Ken & SSJ respectively & Ultra instinct & ego are the only truly new things to be brought to the franchise since ultimate Gohan in the Buu saga
While i hope this is good, my fear is that they nail the animation and plot but then absolutely screw themselves by going on another copyright strike barrage of anyone talking about it, thus stopping most in the west from hearing how good it really is and skipping the cinema run.

I say "new" form because I didn't even notice it since the only difference is that he doesn't have his lines on the green parts of his body anymore. And that Pan gets kidnapped by the Red Ribbon Army (along with Piccolo infiltrating as a soldier wearing Red Ribbon armor)? It was posted 2 weeks ago, as Trailer 3.
I'd be down for the plot you outlined. I'm less worried about if the film doesn't do well that it means less DB films and more it'd mean just less screentime for characters besides Goku and Vegeta honestly. They've been getting way too much for several years now and this looks to be changing that up a little and I hope it kind of sticks.

my biggest hope is that anime movies in general see a wider theatrical release in the us. suprisingly jujitsu kaisen's movie is in a local theater, rather than having to go to a larger city like every my hero movie.
I find it interesting that, in the poster, Dr Hero is actually mingled in with the Dragon Team. Completely on the other side of the poster. Hell, standing LITERALLY next to Goku. They aren’t really hiding that Dr Hero isn’t gonna stay on the Red Ribbon’s side for long.
6:03 It is amazing and terrifying that Earth-made Android technology are capable of competing with Z-Fighters who are planet busters in their own right even if they can't keep up with Goku and Vegeta.
In the last trailer, I did spot the Battle Jacket in the Red Ribbon chamber scene. It looks like the same one Black used in OG against Goku, but is more upgraded.
I can't remember what trailer this was in, but I'm pretty sure the Red Ribbon Army kidnap Pan, which prompts Gohan to take charge and fight them himself. Also, Gamma 2 goes alone to attack Piccolo, so do you think either Gamma 1 stays at the base? Or maybe he goes after Krillin and some funny antics ensue?
Not really related to the topic, but I just love Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. Especially Gamma 2 blasts having cartoony evil eyes. But if the plot you stated is true can I just throw out an idea involving the two brothers? What if Gamma 2 willing goes with being evil, not really caring much due to his up beat natura. With Gamma 1 being hurt yet still stoic, attempting to stop 2 but fails. Resulting in that forced fusion into Gamma 0/3 maybe?
I am looking forward to it, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm not eager to give the cat my money either. Though thats more to do with its treatment of certain individuals. I generally didn't see much issue with it being CGI, some of the stuff we saw in DBS Broly for example was amazing.
Perhaps I'm just easy to please but as a Gohan going all the way back to when the series aired on Toonami I just want Gohan to get a good in this movie. I'm sure I'll enjoy it regardless but that's what I want.
I think this is a pretty good idea, but I also think that Android 21 will have a movie debut in Super Hero, and will probably be in an important battle. Perhaps she could even be the true villain?
For me… When it comes to Dragon Ball movies, I just pray it doesn’t end up like the plot of Dragon Ball Evolution. I know that car wreck was live action but it carried the Dragon Ball name. I have medium hopes for this movie as the art style they are going with has me a little worried but I am curious.
db evolution wasnt written by toriyama. Western live action adaptations have had a LOOOOONG track record of ignoring the original creators. And i dont believe this is western or live action, so by virtue of that, I'd say we're fine.
I think modern Dragonball films from this point on will only be as bad as Ressurection F, which had its issues but was at the very least true to the brand and fun.

To anyone thinking cgi is crap: MAPPA. Mappa makes aot this year, in previous years cgi wasnt madtered but thats not the case anymore. Cgi can look insane if done correctly.
You broke this movie down perfectly! For sure toei knows it’s a risk and gamble but they can do it. Also Gohan has a bunch of fans still despite his super story vs his dbz story. Piccolo new form and if gohan gets one ….money time!!!
My theory. They're going to "bio-Broly" Cell and this new Cell is going to go out of control and absorb the two new androids to get to his perfect form.
My initial reaction to the CG was admittedly a bit over the top negative. In terms of CG, its the best looking CG i think ive seen in modern times. But I'd be lying if i said i wouldn't prefer the 2D Broly art style. Aside from the stiff 3D models they put in at some points, its the peak of anything DB related for me visually.
same here. peak visuals for me, personally are: Bojack Unbound movie, Buu Saga, T.o.P., DBS: Broly, Moro, & Granolah Saga so far. kinda appreciating the CGI now though, i'll give it a chance.
Toei is also messing around with a lot of cgi in Super Sentai as well. I think they are trying to up their computer graphics game. Its a bit awkward still on Donbrothers.
They're kinda fudging it with Donbrothers by imitating the stuttering and snap animation of AR models. It's a cute idea and looks as good as that concept can look, but I have to wonder how long it can go on before it gets stale.
They've been at it for years with Precure too, tho they've kinda reduced it since Star Twinkle. But the year before that, the Hugtto movie had its whole last act/climax in cgi iirc and it was pretty solid, so I'll be cautiously optimistic ^^'

In my opinion this movie is a market test for the future of the franchise. To test whether people will watch and consume dragon ball that doesnt center around Goku. They franchise cannot last forever around Goku. The manga is already showing the struggle of how hard it is to write believable characters for Goku to rival or face off with.
I always saw people's displease with CG animation as being petty. What really matters whether the CG is good and used with proper art style, not the use of CG itself.
1 - The one animator being 'exiled' to Super Dragon Ball Heroes reminds me of Roddenberry. To get his stranglehold off of ST:TNG, they told him that the comics' line from DC desperately needed his guidance. He was on it until near his death, and reportedly drove writer Peter David off the TOS book with his micromanagement. 2 - The CG controversy was recently lampooned in the Rescue Rangers reboot trailer. Chip discovers Dale 'had the CGI surgery done' and their animation models now clash. 3 - I wouldn't expect her to take the win, but now that U6 has broached the female SSJ barrier, I really hope we see Pan as the girl with the golden hair.
Hey! it's a thing that I've been noticing on your videos for a while, but your soundtrack background music is extremely low on all of ur videos for some reason, I have no idea if it's just my headsets or something, but I feel you should maybe up the sound just a bit more, there's some people that really enjoy though and I assume you're doing it to achieve some sort of ambience vibe to ur videos, sadly I haven't been able to hear those that well in a while, and I don't really have any problems with hearning background ost's for other what ifers, i/e salad sayian, carthu's dojo and others. Just saying.
I see ZERO risk... its Dragon ball. You are talking about all the people complaining but what about all of us that are excited ? It's like people forgot we went over a decade with no new Dragon ball. New content is new content and most Dragon ball fans just want more more more. A lot of the negativity comes from people who picked the wrong favorite character (Gohan) and just can't get over it. I personally love the Story of Goku and it is why I dump money for it on all platforms. Games movies merchandise RUclipsrs apps ect.. Can't please everyone so why bother listening to the crying
I really don't want to be the "BUT MASAKO" guy on this one... BUT MASAKO, your idea that the wool is being pulled over Hedo's eyes and that the whole movie will be a misunderstanding is faulty. In that livestream where we got the poster reveal for Goten and Trunks, the voice actor for Hedo explicitly referred to Hedo as a bad guy, and Mr. Fancy Suit (I don't remember his name) says that Goku and the others have thwarted the Red Ribbon Army in the past with Hedo and the Gammas in the room. In all honesty, Hedo liking superheroes is probably just supposed to be a coincidental and ironic motif. "Haha, yes, this pathetic rat of an evil scientist has a superHERO theme for himself and his creations. Isn't that funny?" This movie is probably going to be even more straightforward than your idea is. They want revenge on Goku and the others, so Hedo builds new Androids that match his theme to take the heroes down, with Gohan and Piccolo needing to defend the Earth while Goku and Vegeta are off training with Broly on Beerus' world. A smaller scale movie that acts as a way to progress the timeline after various criticisms of not progressing it, and bringing Gohan back to mainstream prominence after Super proved that he still has a market draw that isn't being capitalized on. That's what I think, anyway.
Oh I feel like my idea isn't the most likely but it's a plot that is engaging. Also the actors could easily be told not to spoil the movie and lead with what first impressions are. After all, you don't wanna give the plot away!
@@MasakoX Fair enough. But at the same time, we are talking about a Dragon Ball script written by Toriyama. Unless Toriyama is going to go off the wall bonkers with something new to Dragon Ball, or going back to the very beginning with a focus on adventures instead of fighting, I think relying on first impressions and past conventions is probably the best (or at least the safest) way to predict the plot of this movie.
Goku & Vegeta in the manga are pretty much almost at the peak of power. Since they pretty much set the ceiling with Zeno, the Angels & GoD. Who have reign unopposed for millennia. Which means mortals on their level are extremely rare across the multiverse. So creating and writing in multiverse threatening villains should be limited in use from a story perspective. So the idea of falling back and focusing more on the weaker characters, who are all loved by fans of the Dragon Ball franchise. Especially us older fans. Is a fantastic idea. Especially if it casts Gohan & Piccolo as the leads. I would also love it if they featured more of Tien's Crane Dojo. Maybe have a naturally gifted overly ambitious human student similar to Garou from One Punch Man.
I like what super dragon ball heroes manga is doing with the demon gods (in particular). But the new arc that just started (space time tourney) is FREAKIN LIT! Pure fan service but LIT. Toei should've worked with studio Orange for the CGI tbh. Anyone who has watched Houseki no Kuni knows why
"Toriyama likes to recycle" Goku / Vegeta's God Forms: *SWEATING NERVOUSLY* - But awful joke aside. I'm more than likely gonna see this movie. If only because I'd love to see another Dragon Ball Adventure on the Big Screen.
One thing I'm worried about with this movie is that they pull a bio Broly and the big bad gets corrupted and blows up or something similar to that movie I don't want that to happen but I read it on a reddit post. And can't seem to get that idea out of my mind scenario is too close. But I hope that Goku Vegeta and Broly are not even going to fight the big big bad like what he said they just show up afterwards and maybe Gohan gets a new form or might see a father-daughter Kamehameha
what stands out to me about the movie poster is that neither Goku or Vegeta are up front & center, its Gohan & Pan! Hopefully a sign that these characters will be flushed out fully & be made into the future of the franchise.
I honestly really like the designs of Gamma 1 and 2 so im interested in seeing what happens with them and im really glad I watched this video because some of my opinions of the movie have changed because of it :)
Masako, Gohan is only being used as a final farewell to his fanboys, he will never have a major role in the manga again. Uub has been chosen to carry the torch not Gohan his time is over.
i still wonder why people continue to treat super dragon ball heroes as an actual spinoff rather than something entirely promotional, i see people critiquing it on the same level as they would Z, GT, or super, its entirely pointless and should just be enjoyed for what it already is, that being said, the manga does do it a bit better than the anime
I feel dragon ball z vibes . I hope this movie will be a success , giving dragon ball the push the fans had waited for decades, also showing who an awesome series dragon ball really is to us . I feel like Toriama was afraid to get out of Goku and vegeta zone , not to blame him it is been 18 years since DBZ . But now he understood what we saw in DBZ and that there is more to show.
I think they gave us Gohan up front, knowing anyone nervous about the animation is still gonna go see it. If nothing for the sake of seeing Gohan as the main badass again
Based on what we got so far my prediction is this; Gohan unlocks new latent potential of super saiyan; super saiyan fully ascended; a form suprassing broly's green hair ssj Goku, broly and vegeta have a battle royale to decide who his the strongest amongst them, with the winner having to fight beerus to be ranked as the strongest non-angel warrior in U7. Story's conclusion; Goku defeats broly, vegeta and beerus, which brings to full circle piccolo's remark at the end of Z, claiming Goku to have gone into boredom prior to meeting Uub. Pan gets inspired to be powrrful fighter like her dad, afetr seeing his true unlocked fighting potential. With the red ribbon defeated in the movie, this also brings to full circle the period of peace prior to the end of z martial arts tournament. Finally, Whis and beerus absent from the original z epilouge. Though I feel whis will stick around for future story arcs.

I’m trying not to overhype myself on the Cell theory, but man I would love to see adult Gohan vs. Cell. It would be nice for it to be actual Cell, but I’d be willing to settle for a lookalike at this point.
One of the advantages of 3d animation is saving time. It's a lot faster to create a 3d movie than an animated movie drawn frame by frame. I wouldn't be surprised if 3d movies cost way less and and require fewer employees.
You know what's funnier. No one was talking about the Red Ribbon Army until the movie was hinted a while back. So assuming you know about how the army came to be is still a mystery. UNTIL the movie shows all of us what came to be of them, why milk it now?
I'm definitely still skeptical of this new animation style. DBS Broly was absolutely beautiful, and I would have preferred DBS Super Hero had been done the same.
I had pretty much completely forgotten about Earwig until you mentioned it, Masako. Which reminds me, everyone go watch Ronja the Robber's Daughter, Ghibli did the CGI way better than in Earwig!
MasakoX Do you think Android 21 will make an appearance? Also, how is the RRA able to reference Majin Buu? Wasn’t there a wish made by Goku and the Z fighters erasing Buu’s image (at least) from the minds and memories of everyone on earth?
The big question is how well is it going to be received by the fans? I'm not a big fan of cgi in animation unless it's meant to be that way and will it feel like Dragonball while watching it
As someone who is tired of seeing Gohan being propped up to be the new protagonist and that never paying off, I wish we could just let the guy retire from fighting and pass the torch to the kids instead, but I guess this ain't gonna be it.
I think this is a fair compromise. Gohan doesn't like fighting all that much, he has different interests so he's never going to become like Goku and Vegeta. However, he can still help out whenever necessary, he just doesn't want that torch.
Unfortunately after the Vic incident where we got to see the true colors of not just funimation but also prominent voice actors for the series it’s likely not going to do anything. The fact that Broly will be brought back without Vic as a voice actor will at best rub people the wrong way because the fact those voice actors and actresses decided to continue to try to ruin a prominent voice actors life HALF A YEAR AFTER he got fired and the fact that funimation did almost nothing about it is unacceptable!
Looking forward to seeing this movie. Took my nephew to see the broly movie and we had a blast. The time jump from the ending of super/broly has me intrigued to see what they have up their sleeves for the anime series compared to the manga
People have a knee-jerk dislike of CGI because to most people, its not real art. I don't think that will go away for a long time. That seems like a generational change rather than a cultural one.
I like to think the Red Ribbon army recovered the Cell from Gero's lab, but they needed a better scientist to complete it. Something about these two super hero androids makes me think "Yeah, I can see a new cell absorbing them"
We can all hope that this movie makes Gohan relevant again, but lets not forget that the franchise might as well be called "The Goku Show" and that it's not unlikely that it will ultimately be Goku who defeats this evil foe who's yet to emerge.

Also, Goku and Vegeta being the universal-hopping warriors while the rest of the Z Warriors protect Earth is a GREAT idea. That sounds like a fantastic way to have both grand and small scale stories, and to give the lesser warriors chances to shine.
How about an Android thats perfect from the start instead of having to fuse or absorb someone.
That would be amazing if they did that.

I think that the real problem that DBS has had for the longest was the problem of making the series the Goku and Vegeta show, and actively making efforts to push every other character out of the spotlight. DBS has fortunately gotten at least a little better in this regard from the tournament of power and onwards, but it is still not back to where it needs to be in terms of properly using other characters (like how it did in DBZ).
EXACTLY. I don't think people mind when they focus on Goku and Vegeta. Hell, DBS Broly is universally LOVED. THE PROBLEM is when they decide to do it for EVERY ARC. Ever since Resurrection F, it's just been "Goku and Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta, etc.". It gets irritating and repetitive. So hearing that Gohan and Piccolo were the stars of the show this time, was a BREATH OF FRESH AIR. Here's to hoping this isn't just a one time thing and they keep doing stuff like this in the future.

Funnily enough alot of the spotlight was still hogged by the saiyans/piccolo. The earthlings had their moments in the namek and android saga, but after that and even in the saiyan saga they were sorta being pushed away from the spotlight.
Dude don't act like dbz didnt have the same problem about pushing their characters to the side it's a constant problem throughout the franchise dbz isnt a shining gem they cut out nearly half the cast to make it the saiyan show by the end
My biggest hope for Superhero is that it does some really new, fresh stuff for Dragon Ball. I really want it to stay focused on Gohan, Piccolo and Pan. I certainly don't mind some cutaways to Goku, Vegeta and Broly, but I really don't want them taking over the movie, or showing up at the last minute to steal the W.
The world of Dragon Ball has infinite possibilities, so I hope that the new animation style is indicative that the team is willing to not play it safe with the story as well.

Masako, I've waited a long time to hear your thoughts about this movie. I'm glad the whole Toei situation has been resolved (kind of) so you can now lift the ban. It was awesome that you stood by Mark like that though!
Here's the thing - Masako's premise sounds really realistic and grounded, and fairly interesting. It does not sound groundbreaking. It sounds like a cut-and-dry way to introduce a new movie character, make a modest profit, get some marketing and, as stated, show that Toei is legitimately planning to continue Dragon Ball, keep our appetites whetted.
Thing is, anime fans, like fans of most things in the age of the internet, are whiny contrarians. This is basically completely unavoidable when you have millions of individuals all voicing their opinions on the same subject - the moderates aren't bothered enough to comment negatively on it, so you get apologists and you get haters.
I hope this movie does well (...I _mostly_ hope this movie does well), but I don't want it to do well because they stamped Dragon Ball on it, I want it to be a good, fun, enjoyable movie. I do think hand-drawn would look better, but hand-drawn animation is also ludicrously expensive and time-consuming, whereas if CG tech hasn't made leaps and bounds by the next movie, you can just reuse the models. Honestly I don't think it looks bad visually, but time will tell.
All I'm saying is, I would like a movie every now and then that isn't about Goku, and even contains very little Goku, so long as we don't get another Bio Broly. It's nice to see the supporting cast get to do things, and my biggest hope is that it doesn't end with a Goku fight; my biggest fear is that it will, because only Goku is allowed to win in the movies, unless your name is Bojack or Broly. But I do like this analysis, and I hope the movie turns out somewhat like this, and I hope it earns any reputation it gets - that people don't hate on it just for being different (ffs we've complained how long about being formulaic?) but also don't just swallow it whole. Again, though, only time will tell.
Yeah I agree that Masako's plot idea sounds pretty grounded and straightforward, but tbh that's kinda why I dont think it'll be accurate. Dragon Ball always likes to surprise us and subvert expectations. I'm expecting the movie to try and catch us off guard at least once, like how BoG had Goku fail to defeat Beerus, RF having Frieza blow up the Earth, and the Broly movie having him live (tho tbf calling that a twist is a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea).
Of course, I'll be really disappointed if the big surprise is just "haha you though Gohan would win the fight but nah Goku comes in and saves the day".

As far as I'm concerned, Broly isn't really a fighter in the traditional sense. He's a gentle spirit that was manipulated into getting revenge for his father. I don't think he will feature very much in the story at all, except occasionally as a wild card. He seems content just to stay out of the way of the rest of the galaxy.
Honestly though, I don't get peoples obsession with new forms. I mean, it doesn't make for a more compelling nor entertaining story.

Honestly, I feel like Broly will just become like the rest of the side characters in the story. Goku and Vegeta will surpass him and he’ll be a massive jobber. That’s usually what happens when a strong guy that fights them joins the team, so to speak.
@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 Forms definitely do make for a compelling and entertaining story like in the namek saga Frieza's reveal of having another form added suspense and intrigue. And on a more superficial level new forms are just cool looking and usually come with new abilities that change the dynamic of a fight.
@@johnman8398 duly noted, though I feel that fundamentally speaking that Saga was just built different. Super Sayian was this weird thing that both Vegeta and Frieza brought into and was something that was hyped up into, and his ultimate transformation was born from both hard work and righteousness fury. And even the cell saga did a ok job at basically using the forms to express different philosophies, Vegeta being focused on calculated, physical might, Trunks being naive in following his father without learning the same lessons, and Goku and Gohan just learning to live with their new normal, and Gohan transformation being a manifestation of his maturity.
Beyond that, i don’t think ive ever seen transformations used particularly well. Even Ultra instinct, which I think is pretty cool, kinda being demonstrated three times in the same arc to pad out its run time. Though that might be more the studios fixation in overusing Goku more then it itself. Just my opinion though.
While I'm excited about the movie, I don't think that it is as much of a big deal as people want it to be. I believe it would just another fun movie that we are all going to like and love, especially with Gohan and Piccolo's new forms. We are going to talk about it for some time, especially if they include dlc about it for the video games.
Goku and Vegeta will still be the stars of series. Also Pan is problably only there for continuity reasons, not even Heroes has bothered with giving her Super Saiyan. She is never going to happen.

@Percival917 One big way they can do that is making a Universe 6 spin off show. Hit (he should be the main character IMO) and the Saiyans would be great. They could also show some other assassins, mercenaries, and even criminals (he assassinated a mob boss after all; it was great seeing that alien city at night in the rain) to delve deeper in that world Hit is in.

Hi Masako! Hoping you get so see this, I wanted to share something I brainstormed/thought of. While Gero is derivative of Vomit or To Vomit, my mind went a different place. If you flip the vowels of *Ge ro*, you get *Go Re*, which to my imaginative mind sounds like Gray! We have Silver, White, Black, and also Dr. Gray (?)
But to my knowledge, the only thing I can find of Gero's son's name is Gebo, and I can't really think of any color pun for that. Maybe Gold if i reeeally stretch it thin.

I hope Gohan gets a revamp power scaling wise because he's my 3rd favorite character next to Vegeta & OG future Trunks but. I fear it won't stand up to Broly because Super itself as the latest in the franchise is pretty lackluster SSG/SSB are bland less badass versions of Kaio-Ken & SSJ respectively & Ultra instinct & ego are the only truly new things to be brought to the franchise since ultimate Gohan in the Buu saga

In the last trailer, I did spot the Battle Jacket in the Red Ribbon chamber scene. It looks like the same one Black used in OG against Goku, but is more upgraded.
I can't remember what trailer this was in, but I'm pretty sure the Red Ribbon Army kidnap Pan, which prompts Gohan to take charge and fight them himself. Also, Gamma 2 goes alone to attack Piccolo, so do you think either Gamma 1 stays at the base? Or maybe he goes after Krillin and some funny antics ensue?
Not really related to the topic, but I just love Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. Especially Gamma 2 blasts having cartoony evil eyes.
But if the plot you stated is true can I just throw out an idea involving the two brothers? What if Gamma 2 willing goes with being evil, not really caring much due to his up beat natura. With Gamma 1 being hurt yet still stoic, attempting to stop 2 but fails. Resulting in that forced fusion into Gamma 0/3 maybe?
I am looking forward to it, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm not eager to give the cat my money either. Though thats more to do with its treatment of certain individuals. I generally didn't see much issue with it being CGI, some of the stuff we saw in DBS Broly for example was amazing.
Perhaps I'm just easy to please but as a Gohan going all the way back to when the series aired on Toonami I just want Gohan to get a good in this movie. I'm sure I'll enjoy it regardless but that's what I want.

For me… When it comes to Dragon Ball movies, I just pray it doesn’t end up like the plot of Dragon Ball Evolution. I know that car wreck was live action but it carried the Dragon Ball name. I have medium hopes for this movie as the art style they are going with has me a little worried but I am curious.
db evolution wasnt written by toriyama. Western live action adaptations have had a LOOOOONG track record of ignoring the original creators. And i dont believe this is western or live action, so by virtue of that, I'd say we're fine.
I think modern Dragonball films from this point on will only be as bad as Ressurection F, which had its issues but was at the very least true to the brand and fun.

My initial reaction to the CG was admittedly a bit over the top negative. In terms of CG, its the best looking CG i think ive seen in modern times.
But I'd be lying if i said i wouldn't prefer the 2D Broly art style. Aside from the stiff 3D models they put in at some points, its the peak of anything DB related for me visually.

Toei is also messing around with a lot of cgi in Super Sentai as well. I think they are trying to up their computer graphics game. Its a bit awkward still on Donbrothers.
They're kinda fudging it with Donbrothers by imitating the stuttering and snap animation of AR models. It's a cute idea and looks as good as that concept can look, but I have to wonder how long it can go on before it gets stale.
They've been at it for years with Precure too, tho they've kinda reduced it since Star Twinkle. But the year before that, the Hugtto movie had its whole last act/climax in cgi iirc and it was pretty solid, so I'll be cautiously optimistic ^^'

In my opinion this movie is a market test for the future of the franchise. To test whether people will watch and consume dragon ball that doesnt center around Goku. They franchise cannot last forever around Goku. The manga is already showing the struggle of how hard it is to write believable characters for Goku to rival or face off with.

1 - The one animator being 'exiled' to Super Dragon Ball Heroes reminds me of Roddenberry. To get his stranglehold off of ST:TNG, they told him that the comics' line from DC desperately needed his guidance. He was on it until near his death, and reportedly drove writer Peter David off the TOS book with his micromanagement.
2 - The CG controversy was recently lampooned in the Rescue Rangers reboot trailer. Chip discovers Dale 'had the CGI surgery done' and their animation models now clash.
3 - I wouldn't expect her to take the win, but now that U6 has broached the female SSJ barrier, I really hope we see Pan as the girl with the golden hair.
I can only hope that the anime will continue since there's so much of the manga that isn't animated
Hey! it's a thing that I've been noticing on your videos for a while, but your soundtrack background music is extremely low on all of ur videos for some reason, I have no idea if it's just my headsets or something, but I feel you should maybe up the sound just a bit more, there's some people that really enjoy though and I assume you're doing it to achieve some sort of ambience vibe to ur videos, sadly I haven't been able to hear those that well in a while, and I don't really have any problems with hearning background ost's for other what ifers, i/e salad sayian, carthu's dojo and others. I see ZERO risk... its Dragon ball. You are talking about all the people complaining but what about all of us that are excited ? It's like people forgot we went over a decade with no new Dragon ball. New content is new content and most Dragon ball fans just want more more more. A lot of the negativity comes from people who picked the wrong favorite character (Gohan) and just can't get over it. I really don't want to be the "BUT MASAKO" guy on this one... BUT MASAKO, your idea that the wool is being pulled over Hedo's eyes and that the whole movie will be a misunderstanding is faulty. In that livestream where we got the poster reveal for Goten and Trunks, the voice actor for Hedo explicitly referred to Hedo as a bad guy, and Mr. Fancy Suit (I don't remember his name) says that Goku and the others have thwarted the Red Ribbon Army in the past with Hedo and the Gammas in the room. In all honesty, Hedo liking superheroes is probably just supposed to be a coincidental and ironic motif. "Haha, yes, this pathetic rat of an evil scientist has a superHERO theme for himself and his creations. Isn't that funny?"
This movie is probably going to be even more straightforward than your idea is. They want revenge on Goku and the others, so Hedo builds new Androids that match his theme to take the heroes down, with Gohan and Piccolo needing to defend the Earth while Goku and Vegeta are off training with Broly on Beerus' world. A smaller scale movie that acts as a way to progress the timeline after various criticisms of not progressing it, and bringing Gohan back to mainstream prominence after Super proved that he still has a market draw that isn't being capitalized on. That's what I think, anyway.
Oh I feel like my idea isn't the most likely but it's a plot that is engaging. Also the actors could easily be told not to spoil the movie and lead with what first impressions are. After all, you don't wanna give the plot away!
@@MasakoX Fair enough. But at the same time, we are talking about a Dragon Ball script written by Toriyama. Unless Toriyama is going to go off the wall bonkers with something new to Dragon Ball, or going back to the very beginning with a focus on adventures instead of fighting, I think relying on first impressions and past conventions is probably the best (or at least the safest) way to predict the plot of this movie.
Goku & Vegeta in the manga are pretty much almost at the peak of power. Since they pretty much set the ceiling with Zeno, the Angels & GoD. Who have reign unopposed for millennia. Which means mortals on their level are extremely rare across the multiverse. So creating and writing in multiverse threatening villains should be limited in use from a story perspective.
So the idea of falling back and focusing more on the weaker characters, who are all loved by fans of the Dragon Ball franchise. Especially us older fans. Is a fantastic idea. Especially if it casts Gohan & Piccolo as the leads. I would also love it if they featured more of Tien's Crane Dojo. Maybe have a naturally gifted overly ambitious human student similar to Garou from One Punch Man.
I like what super dragon ball heroes manga is doing with the demon gods (in particular). But the new arc that just started (space time tourney) is FREAKIN LIT! Pure fan service but LIT.
Toei should've worked with studio Orange for the CGI tbh. Anyone who has watched Houseki no Kuni knows why

One thing I'm worried about with this movie is that they pull a bio Broly and the big bad gets corrupted and blows up or something similar to that movie I don't want that to happen but I read it on a reddit post. And can't seem to get that idea out of my mind scenario is too close. But I hope that Goku Vegeta and Broly are not even going to fight the big big bad like what he said they just show up afterwards and maybe Gohan gets a new form or might see a father-daughter Kamehameha

what stands out to me about the movie poster is that neither Goku or Vegeta are up front & center, its Gohan & Pan! Hopefully a sign that these characters will be flushed out fully & be made into the future of the franchise.
I honestly really like the designs of Gamma 1 and 2 so im interested in seeing what happens with them and im really glad I watched this video because some of my opinions of the movie have changed because of it :)
Masako, Gohan is only being used as a final farewell to his fanboys, he will never have a major role in the manga again. Uub has been chosen to carry the torch not Gohan his time is over.
I'm fine with that so long as there's a meaningful bit of closure.
Gohan is never taking the torch, he doesn't want to. Doesn't mean he won't act when needed though, just like any other Z fighter.
i still wonder why people continue to treat super dragon ball heroes as an actual spinoff rather than something entirely promotional, i see people critiquing it on the same level as they would Z, GT, or super, its entirely pointless and should just be enjoyed for what it already is, that being said, the manga does do it a bit better than the anime
I feel dragon ball z vibes . I hope this movie will be a success , giving dragon ball the push the fans had waited for decades, also showing who an awesome series dragon ball really is to us . I feel like Toriama was afraid to get out of Goku and vegeta zone , not to blame him it is been 18 years since DBZ . But now he understood what we saw in DBZ and that there is more to show.
I think they gave us Gohan up front, knowing anyone nervous about the animation is still gonna go see it. If nothing for the sake of seeing Gohan as the main badass again
Based on what we got so far my prediction is this;
Gohan unlocks new latent potential of super saiyan; super saiyan fully ascended; a form suprassing broly's green hair ssj
Goku, broly and vegeta have a battle royale to decide who his the strongest amongst them, with the winner having to fight beerus to be ranked as the strongest non-angel warrior in U7.
Story's conclusion;
Goku defeats broly, vegeta and beerus, which brings to full circle piccolo's remark at the end of Z, claiming Goku to have gone into boredom prior to meeting Uub.
Pan gets inspired to be powrrful fighter like her dad, afetr seeing his true unlocked fighting potential.
With the red ribbon defeated in the movie, this also brings to full circle the period of peace prior to the end of z martial arts tournament.
Finally, Whis and beerus absent from the original z epilouge. Though I feel whis will stick around for future story arcs.

I’m trying not to overhype myself on the Cell theory, but man I would love to see adult Gohan vs. Cell. It would be nice for it to be actual Cell, but I’d be willing to settle for a lookalike at this point.
One of the advantages of 3d animation is saving time. It's a lot faster to create a 3d movie than an animated movie drawn frame by frame. I wouldn't be surprised if 3d movies cost way less and and require fewer employees.
You know what's funnier. No one was talking about the Red Ribbon Army until the movie was hinted a while back. So assuming you know about how the army came to be is still a mystery. UNTIL the movie shows all of us what came to be of them, why milk it now?
I'm definitely still skeptical of this new animation style. DBS Broly was absolutely beautiful, and I would have preferred DBS Super Hero had been done the same.
Toei: if this works we'll get Shintani for returning Dragon Ball Super Anime.

I had pretty much completely forgotten about Earwig until you mentioned it, Masako. Which reminds me, everyone go watch Ronja the Robber's Daughter, Ghibli did the CGI way better than in Earwig!

The big question is how well is it going to be received by the fans? I'm not a big fan of cgi in animation unless it's meant to be that way and will it feel like Dragonball while watching it
As someone who is tired of seeing Gohan being propped up to be the new protagonist and that never paying off, I wish we could just let the guy retire from fighting and pass the torch to the kids instead, but I guess this ain't gonna be it.
I think this is a fair compromise. Gohan doesn't like fighting all that much, he has different interests so he's never going to become like Goku and Vegeta. However, he can still help out whenever necessary, he just doesn't want that torch.

Unfortunately after the Vic incident where we got to see the true colors of not just funimation but also prominent voice actors for the series it’s likely not going to do anything. The fact that Broly will be brought back without Vic as a voice actor will at best rub people the wrong way because the fact those voice actors and actresses decided to continue to try to ruin a prominent voice actors life HALF A YEAR AFTER he got fired and the fact that funimation did almost nothing about it is unacceptable!

Looking forward to seeing this movie. Took my nephew to see the broly movie and we had a blast. The time jump from the ending of super/broly has me intrigued to see what they have up their sleeves for the anime series compared to the manga
Earwig and the witch was a good movie. I enjoyed it. Doesn’t matter what animation style they go with as long as the story Ian there to entertain me
People have a knee-jerk dislike of CGI because to most people, its not real art. I don't think that will go away for a long time. That seems like a generational change rather than a cultural one.
I like to think the Red Ribbon army recovered the Cell from Gero's lab, but they needed a better scientist to complete it.
Something about these two super hero androids makes me think "Yeah, I can see a new cell absorbing them"
We can all hope that this movie makes Gohan relevant again, but lets not forget that the franchise might as well be called "The Goku Show" and that it's not unlikely that it will ultimately be Goku who defeats this evil foe who's yet to emerge.
I really hope Broly taps into a different power working off his refined rage instead of God Ki. Please retconned SSJ4, *please* retconned SSJ4
