I saw Abdullah the Butcher in the Airport. He was sitting by himself and no one wanted to approach him or sit near him. He had those crazy eyes like you didnt know what he is thinking. Even I, didnt ask for a autograph.

I was about 9 when cable TV was just spreading and we got cable which upped our channels from 4 to maybe 7 or 8. One channel was from Atlanta, then called WTCG which became WTBS. It was just a local Atlanta channel that had cool sports like Braves Baseball, Hawks hoops, sec football and basketball, and Georgia Championship Wrestling, which turned into WCW. Gordon Solie was the host, announcer, and my favorite wrestlers, first ever favorites were the tag team, TNT, Tommy Wildfire Rich and Tony Atlas. They would show highlights from big cards from the Omni and I will never forget the time they showed Tony slamming Abdullah the butcher and I couldn't believe it. If wrestling was still like that I may still regularly watch it.

Tony Atlas has a real sharp intelligence and wit, he is a smarter and more well rounded individual than all of the intellectuals I know. 'Life is much more about what you have inside of you then what you have learnt' - Bret Hart. I love Tony's interviews, I love how he mispronounces words, if he spoke fluently I would find him less interesting. I love you Tony, keep on punching.

When these old, bitter, retired, jack-ass wrestlers say: “The Ultimate Warrior couldn’t wrestle,” I like to point out that Warrior could wrestle a hell of a lot better than Abdullah the Butcher or New Jack. At the very least, every Warrior match "looked like pro wrestling." Abby and New Jack’s matches looked like “glorified assault & battery with a deadly weapon.”

    • @jonb2756

Tony Atlas isn't the only wrestler to have bodyslammed Abdullah The Butcher . . .
"Flyin' Brian" Pillman scoop-slammed Abby several times in WCW during the early 1990s: once on a pay-per-view and once on a weekly televised show, and at numerous house shows, as well. In these matches, Pillman and a tag partner (Tom Zenk or Bill Kazmaier, for example) would square off against the team of Abby and Cactus Jack, often in a losing effort despite the impressive feat.
