Recently in an online mission with 3 randos. Just prior I bought us all a round of POG and only 3 of the 4 drank it, the host didnt bother and just wanted to get on with the mission. Of course, we had a crassus spawn, but it spawned miles away from the main party next to the host. He killed it, and despite our pleading, mined half of the gold before we got to him. I was fuming.
It's a good thing we have Molly to carry our Rocks and Stones. (Because that dwarf in particular would need a whole keg of Backbreaker Stout to recover.)

Way I got mine was on an elimination mission where I was expecting to spend a while completing it then just wait out the rest of the time. Got a crassus detonator as well so I spent a while mining that. Still had to spend like 20 minutes AFK to get the achievement.
Aquarqs, ice biome thing, first time doing either. Many were in the freaking ceiling. It was hidden behind some freaking ice chunks for about 3 of them... Was unaware Bosco could tunnel to them. I freaking hate ice. I absolutely did NOT like it down there. The achievement lied to me.
The messed up part is had you dug into the wall and blown up the detonator, you probably would've come out with 1-2k more. But I'm low-key "Homer drooling" at that 5100 gold. Good lord that's juicy.

I had a similar situation, on a rig mission at haz 4 - got just under 2500 good out, limited by not having the gold next to a deposit location (no Molly) and running out of nitra (haz 4 + continual, if slow paced waves burning our supply). We were unable to recover all the gold, and frankly collected few of the gol veins, but we got plenty given circumstances. You sir had better luck.
Each mineral can be sold for 50 credits, you just need 500 of any mineral (can get more than 500 in a high hazard mineral mania mission) and sell them when you need the credits
@@user-ij4gx7hz4r yeah I did a haz 3 elimination yesterday in azure Weald, pulled in like 600 croppa without mineral mania even being a mutator. Minerals sell for boatloads and take much less time to harvest than gold. If you see a mineral mania than treat it like a double xp, but for creds. Also deal of the day can net you a tidy profit too. More reliable than gold in my opinion, and much quicker too.

Plot twist, he didn't even get to that point. All that gold mining made him blackout, so he had to down a Blackout Stout to wake up... Promptly before he farted really hard and blacked out again. A break well spent. Btw, Backbreakers for the bois.
fun fact: you can mine the gold ball by detatching it from the walls AND get the pots o' gold bonus by picking out the gold anchoring it to the ground. i never got the circumstances to test this so try at your own risk!
There really should be a drink at the bar that makes it so when u mine veins it only takes 1 pick axe swing. Would make these moments feel SO satisfying.

I frequently drop in Fungus Bogs and one mission found 2 Crassius detonator in the same pit, unfortunately I got clapped and couldn't collect what I can only assume the biggest payday in my entire DRG career

It's still an incredible deal, you need to take into account the sheer amount of gold he is mining, which is way more than your typical mission.

The price of gold in DRG is VERY inconsistent. This time it's 4.79 credits per one gold, but sometimes it's 5.5, and others 3.5.

Only 1 Crassus can spawn per mission (with a 3% chance), so unless your game was modded the other was a regular Bulk.

My current records on the same combo is about 9,000 gold. "Its getting late I'll do a quick drg mission then head to bed" (2 hrs later)
