Egg hunt without leaving drop pod
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 24 апр 2022
- gunner phoned it in for work today.
Explanation: Basically, I'm just using the coilgun's mole OC to make long tunnels right to the eggs. Then I just had to ping them for Bosco to get it.
Absolutely LOVE how you chose to bring combat "mobility" for your autocannon
And he’s got dash 💀
Fucking small world Jammi
its him. the guy in mission control.
>:)
It has long been my head canon that mission control is a retired gunner who was part of the first team on Hoxxes. Karl was his scout, and got too far away from the team and had to be left behind. That's why we have that saying now.
@@wowplayer160 yes
I never would have realized that without you pointing it out, thank you for the wise words Ben Shapiro Hamburger Helper.
He really has a cozy job
My favorite part is the extraction by far. Something about running out of the drop pod and right into another drop pod is so funny to me.
I agree, that was hilarious
"oh shit, forgot my pickaxe, can i go back?"
Managements going to be really confused on how the arrival pod didn’t return till after the extraction pod
Because the drop pod has only fuel for orbit and it will slowly arrive the destination while the other drop pod has food water and all kinds of good beer (while in IRL you should not drink any alcohol)
@@shaunhayes3072 My rationale for retrieving the initial pos is the salvage missions; in those they only have one pod and one hole aside from the new one you make to land. Obviously they had issues with bugs swarming the pods and breaking them before the new protocol, stranding dwarfs and leaving them to die. Keeping the pod where the bugs can get it makes sense, since having it present doesn't make dwarf survival any more likely, and if they don't pull it out they'll lose the pod.
DRG probably values the pod more than the barel-kicking dwarf miners anyhow. Game-wise it's likely because you're near immune from all but ranged bugs while in the pod, so it would be abused, and they don't want to change the pod to let the bugs come in because it would mess up extractions.
If only there was an easter egg. Where in the extremely rare cases where the drop pod is still there when the button is pushed. Mission control goes "Uhh.. w- um.. ok that was unexpected. But impressive to say the least, just stay put and come up with the pod."
And then the game ends with the first pod bringing you back up into orbit.
They have to make that a thing it'd be hilarious
That would be awesome.
Wouldn’t they have to refuel and repair the first pod? Whenever the opening pod is reused (i.e little mule rescue missions) the miners have to get batteries airdropped just to restore the power of the shuttle, and get a portable console to allow management to reprogram the drop pod for leaving the planet.
@@plasmabasher That's because the pod is damaged. The pod you use to arrive still does leave the cave without refueling.
One small problem; Anyone can pull this off effortlessly in any mission... as long as you're not solo. If anything, the voiceline would have to chastise the dwarves in the pod for hiding in it like cowards while the others did all the work.
“Alright team, you’re going after eggs this time-“

What's your build on the autocannon?
@@churchA.Ii think it doesnt really matter too much seeing as it doesnt help with the coilgun
Somebody will say that the gun is overpowered, but really its the fact that Bosco can fly through walls while carrying objects.
Bosco has the same properties as the bugs, no matter how tiny the hole, he can fit through it.
@@SkyNinja759 the bugs should need to dig through stuff
@@Jakkaribik1 They have that for the dreadnoughts and Nemesis. I don't know how it would effect cave structure if the regular bugs were mouseholing the entire map, after awhile it would become really hard to traverse.
Maybe for opressors it would work though, then have the smaller bug AI follow the opressor.
Maybe that's an idea for a "broodmother" bug in the future. A gliphid equivalent to a rival Nemesis. Which slowly tunnels towards the player within a certain radius.
@@SkyNinja759 Yes that would be funny if every bug would make a whole and in the end you have multiple different ways to go and be attacked at such a mod/mutator would be amazing combined with the unstable cave

Two tips for people trying this themselves:
1. Use waypoints to check angles on the terrain scanner.
2. Use the tier 2 coilgun mod "Controlled Magnetic Flow" to save ammo. Penetration distance does *not* depend on how much you charge your shot.
Or you can just be a god at geometry like this guy.
I was a bit surprised how often I hit the eggs in one shot. Needed waypoints for the last one though.

It is a shame the devs did not think about this situation though. Going back with the original pod could be an awesome detail.
Never would've thought of using the Coil Gun, this is very creative.
If the starting room is block by dirt, how is Bosco able to travel to the egg?
wait Bosco just passed through the walls 🗿
One of gunner's unlockable secondaries (Armskore Coil Gun) can shoot through walls, creating a hole in the ground. That's how Bosco got through.
When management said that Bosco will do half of the job for you, I think they underestimated how loyal he is.
From a main Gunner to another I salute you.

Also, clever use of the waypoint. I should practice this. I don't know how it'd be useful, but I'm sure I could get into shenanigans with this. I love The Mole OC.
Thankyou, the waypoint proved very helpful in course corrections. I'm very glad you can see it in the map view.
huh... so does the escape pod drop only on places marked by the automap? that's neat
not really i guess, im fairly sure it has something to do with molly pathfinding and since he didn't explore any cave and didn't create any tunnels, drop pod is thrown in to the only aviable place for molly to go, the starting room
@pop bob That sounds possible. My theory is that with egg collection missions, the drop pod tends to land back at spawn room more often than not, so it likely happened in this case. And I've seen Molly walk through a wall that I couldn't fit the tip of a pickaxe through, this is evidenced when you plug all entrances to the drop pod using engie. No matter how plugged that hole is, if there's a hole, molly will walk through it. So I think it's just because of the drop pod typically landing in spawn room is my guess.
@@BeanBon_X3 Molly will walk through walls to get where she wants to go if there's no actual path, but I don't think the drop pod will spawn anywhere she can't path to. I HAVE heard reports of her going through coilgun holes, though.
I've noticed it tends to land close by the furthest objective point from the average position of the group, obviously anyone who's played a refinery map or five hundred can attest to that
I have a strong opinion that drop pod lands far from you and why it landed so close this time is what the guy above explained. I remember once after a Doretta mission I went to search for ebonuts and called for drip pod next ti the start of the cave. Well, drop pod landed in the hearthstone room which I've never seen to happen. Maybe it indeed chooses from places that have been marked on the map. Interesting..
Clicking onto your channel and seeing the next most popular vid being a teardown clip explains a lot about this video!
I wish we could have bosco with us on multiplayer missions with an active perk that takes up both perk slots. You get two drones on solo missions.
My idea: Engie can trade turrets for a bosco, it has limited ammo for guns and missiles, and/or limited deployments (like gunner shield); does everything bosco does and is resupplied by ammo drops. _Maybe minus the missiles._
@@kauske maybe one (or two missiles with upgrade) per deployment if it has limited deployments
@@kauskeor a bosco with no weapon capabilities at all. It’s just an extra miner that can reach hard places or dig while you defend yourself
that would leave scout as a glorified torch light, hes already the multilayer bosco
Maybe on obscenely endgame stuff beyond deepdives, some really tough holdout objective or extensive exploration, the company decides to pull out all the stops and allows dwarfs to take boscos with them on multiplayer, and when downed you get the choice to tell bosco to use a revive, or not to if a teammate is coming to get you
Man, this would make getting the "Karl would be Proud" achievement too easy.
This is how an elf would complete the mission.

"Xynarch Charge-Sucker"
Can we just acknowledge that this takes a lot of 3d trigonometry to actually pull off? Each egg is about 1 meter tall and half a meter wide, and he's got to plot out the distance, angle, and direction at a tight area of error. And one shots it three out of four times.
I’m flattered, but pinging the organic matter around the egg also gets bosco to go fetch it. I’m precise but not that precise.
@@papahemmy8587 Fair. But even with the radius of about 5 meters, that's still an impressively tight area to estimate and shoot to.
