Me and a couple randoms (scout&gunner) were curious about if it was possible earlier this week (I may or may not have been inebriated at the time) and so I drilled directly underneath the drillevator before hitting the geode. Was surprised that the "dense rock" layer didn't show up, tbh, but maybe it's not always there. Anyway we hit the geode, and while pickaxing down into it the gunner accidentally clipped inside and died. I got to work pickaxing while our scout went and got nitra and such, before the gunner IW'd and called a resup, which went right through the geode. This meant we could easily get the seeds, but fear of softlocking made the scout go start the drillevator instead of just depositing. It was then we realized that we had no way *out* of the geode, which then turned into a half hour session of trying to pickaxe back up through the crust (way worse than going the other way around) while the scout died trying to defend the drill (as did two randoms who joined while we were trying to get back out). Gunner managed to clip through the geode a second time and ziplined into the tunnel I'd dug initially, before dying trying to restart the drill. After an arduous time of pickaxing upwards I finally managed to get back up and res both of them and we completed the mission after an hour and 43 seconds. Definitely not my craziest mission but it was certainly up there!
Even before reaching the end of the video, i was thinking the whole time that they should absolutely work around this a little bit, and make an achievement out of doing just this. Should have made the geode be like the Heartstone where only the machine can break through it. It's why Dotty is the best. Virgin Drillevator: "no don't ignore me and drill there anyway." Chad Dorreta: "I WILL NOT BE IGNORED."
It is possible without starting the drillivator, if you call in the drillavator before mining down and getting the seeds you can finish the mission without starting the drillivator. A friend and i did this a week or so ago.
i once accidentally fell off one of my platforms as engi and somehow clipped through the map and landed in the geode without the drillevator. weird experience.
Feels like TECHNOLOGY SPYING ON US TO ME... hows youtube gonna suggest this video IMMEDIATELY AFTER you do it yourself (and most likely talk about it during or after)... "fiendish tech of our rivals" getting a whole new meaning
You can sequence break it! If you instead do all the deep scans, then drill down there without drillevator, collect all the morkite seeds, you can immediately call for the drop pod and end the mission without having to do the drillevator. I think you can put the resupply under the geode bedrock a little lower with some clearance so that you don't have to mine any bedrock. Lastly, when you are in the resupply's chimney, you can wack the bedrock with your power attack and call molly to the small divets that power attack leaves behind to climb up the chimney without teammates or an oppressor. Edit: Ok sadly this got patched? I tried this again at least and it did not work, had to do the drillevator anyways. Or maybe it is the case that this way only works in solo.
It is actually possible to beat this mission while skipping every step. For this you'd need a bulk detonator to spawn inside the core and then dig out through the top, this for some reason lets you call in the drop pod after you deposit the seeds
If I was Management, I would be a little angry over sending a 23 ton expensive drillevator only for a couple of dwarves to use even MORE resources and time only to say we did it without the ‘vator. Would I still do it and drill though? Hell. Yes.
if they would actually make it an achievement, I think the fact that achievement hunters would have a REALLY bad time 100% the game is just so much funnier than keeping the achievement number at 69
just an observation, that "weird message" from management seemed to come alongside Molly lighting up the extraction button. there still might be a potential sequence break in there by doing what you did right up till Starting the drillevator, then immediately trying to summon the pod via Molly. Cheers!
I can't remember if it happened in that game or not (might need to go through the original video I took and check again) but a few friends and I said fuck it the other day and tried to do this again keeping this comment in mind. The button didnt pop up, BUT we also had already brought down the drillevator (hadnt started it) BEFORE going down to the Geode and getting all seeds. In short, more research is required 100%
@@tbbbo seems like if it pops at all its popping for a Really short time, a second would be too much by my estimate. Thanks for your contributions to Dorf Science!
me and my friends actually completed it on first try, we didn't mean to though. our driller glitched to the geode and idk what got into us but instead of doing the deepscan we dug straight down to him. we hit the place right above the geode and were unable to dig through so we got the driller to order a resupply and we made it down. collected the morkite seeds and for some reason we actually were able to call for the drop pod. only the scout was able to make it to the drop pod though since we digged straight down and we had no time even with the driller to make it back up 😅
Currently there's a bug that has Mission Control claim the seeds are collected the moment the drillevator sets off, which is what you heard. If it had registered the mission as complete before then, then it would've played two completion lines. Cool that you can reach it, regardless.
I think you're probably better off finishing the scans first so that you'll know where the geode actually spawns, then instead of actually using the drillevator you just dig under it. If you want to be even faster, have one driller dig *straight down* to it. He'll be stuck there, but he'll be remembered for his valiant sacrifice.
BEFORE I WATCH THE VIDEO: Yes you can, I did this with my friend, I was a driller and he was a scout. It just takes a LOONG time. I have video proof but not public and it's in hungarian (cuz we are hungarian). If anyone wants to see it, I'll make it public. I still wanna watch the video tho so bye
Now that I watched your video, you have done it wrong. You first have to do the crystals and call down the drillevator, and THEN dig down to the geode. Then you can collect the seeds and the button will pop up.
Oooh, this is so cool! I'll have to try this. Other thing I wanna try, digging out below the drillevator before it turns on. Will it fall down on its own, or just do one big drop when it starts?
I hope they add something to acknowledge us fellow dumbasses that inevitably decide to do this, just like they did for "We're rich!" and Doretta's head. But not an achievement. I hope they never add another achievement. We've already got 69.
i tried this just now, with the only difference being that i mined out the entire outer area around the geode with infinite c4's. it took me over a fukcing hour (i did it by myself cuz i was bored) and it nearly crashed my game when i blew up the last supporting piece. to my surprise though, it actually sequence broke the mission, unlike what happened with you! i didn't do a single scan, and i never summoned the drillevator! i think the difference might be that is the morkite seeds actually spawned and dropped for me, unlike what happened here in this video. i just deposited the seeds into the M.U.L.E. and it gave me the prompt to call the droppod.

you can do this solo and engi without ever doing a single scan by doing the following:
-dig down around 130m below the center of the map
-dip up a couple of pickaxe breaks until you have a small vertical shaft to be in
-go to the top of this shaft and bury yourself in platforms(this is a bit jank)
-this should either clip you out of the map completely in which case you will probably fall and then get tped into the geode or you will be able to see around
-if its the second case then look for the geode and put a waypoint there(press e with laser pointer out)
-dig to the geode(use your plats to dig through the tough rock)(if you got tped in do this on your way out)
-grab all the seeds and then return to the surface(DO NOT DEPOSIT IN THE GEODE I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS WORK)
-tap e on molly to deposit some of the seeds then tap it again to desposit the other seeds(i dont know if this is needed it fails sometimes when you dont do this and its always worked when i have)
edit:while depositing be timely about it and do not step away from molly or it will fail
-button should appear and now you can leave
if you dont want to skip parts of the mission you can cut it off at certain parts
to "skip" the finding of the crystals:
-do the above steps until you are looking outside of the map
-from here ping the crystals for your team/bosco to mine them out(does bosco do this???? i dont play solo)
to skip the drillevator:
-skip the steps until you dig to the geode and proceed from there
skipping drillevator is probably the safest since the crystals in a good team can take only 2-3 minutes to find and after the drillevator arrives no bugs spawn in so you save a ton of ammo if you dont think you can afford due to deep dive stuff or maybe just a lot of events.

Exfill as soon as you get down.
I can’t even play deep scan mission yet and before someone finishes it without the drillevator lmao,
(Edit: oh god, that dude first deep scan experience will be without it🤣)
Could you imagine we didnt actually need to activate it at the end, so bros very first deep scan experience doesnt even make use of the entire new function made specifically for the mission? XDDD
"Willing" dwarves
this effort has earned you a subscriber from me!
Hi! Only just now came across this video. Sorry for the suffering I caused. Still a great video to watch though! Rock and stone ⛏
Leave it to the dawrves of deep rock to go ''Nah, fuck the giant drilling machine, we go by pickaxe!!!'' xd
Now the goal is to dig around it completely leaving it floating and see if it breaks.
Karl would be proud you successfully tested it o7 well done miner
Damn this is why its in beta gsg has Got to fix this glaring lack of cheesing before its fully released
can it be considered cheese if its infinitely more difficult than doing it normally?
ah yes, removing a fun way of playing that takes both more effort and time than the regular way
@@kapoukaeu what no i dont want them to remove it a want them to make it possible to win doing it
@@MesurDrogon-vh8jk oh i minsunderstood what you said
i didn't see the "lack of"
my bad
Honestly man like the game is completely unplayable in its current state I cannot believe they wouldnt let us cheese the mission without the drillevator its just completely absurd and I suggest we boyccott the game until they let us do so (obligatory "this is sarcasm" line cuz you cant really read sarcasm and everyone writes it different (Ive had to make these way too many times))
1 kleine stap voor de driller community. Maar 1 gigantische stap voor deep rock galactic!
If there isn't at least one stray Driller in Rogue Core, GSG dun goofd
Just call me a Drillevator...
Okay, I'm really high right now, but I feel.. this is high quality editing, and not just me being completely stoned out of my gourd. 131 subs? really? 131? Something seems off.
Especially the reversed fart, I needed that in my life.
Even if it was the high talkin, thanks for the comment!
@@tbbbo Checked it out again. No, it's actually high quality. Comment stands. Nice work.
it would be cool if they added a flabbergasted mission control response, and you could just recall before activating the drillevator.
NAH THIS IS CRAZY BRO I WAS JUST ASKING THIS QUESTION MYSELF
Ain’t no way I just come by this by chance
Should have made the geode be like the Heartstone where only the machine can break through it.
It's why Dotty is the best.
Virgin Drillevator: "no don't ignore me and drill there anyway."
Chad Dorreta: "I WILL NOT BE IGNORED."
sooooo true
Virgin Drillevator: noooo u cant pet me im just weird floor
Chad Doretta: you will save my head whether you like it or not
Would've been interesting to see the drillevator breaching the geode from inside.
GSG def should add an achievement for this
This why we play Driller...nothing is unreachable!!
Finding this video a day after getting the the geode without the drillevator feels like destiny xD
Feels like TECHNOLOGY SPYING ON US TO ME... hows youtube gonna suggest this video IMMEDIATELY AFTER you do it yourself (and most likely talk about it during or after)... "fiendish tech of our rivals" getting a whole new meaning
they need to add this shit as an achievement
I love DRG science.
Finally... My dream is realized.
Resupply pod has the most poweful drill in the game
Yall could have used Molly to stand on when you were trying to get up into the geode
Doing this mission without using the drillevator will be so funny if actually works, and should be a steam achievement fr
On one hand, yes very true 100%, should be achievement. On the other hand, no more 69 achievements total. Very tricky place the devs are in right now
Huh what are the odds I find this
Dwarves when told to use unproven technology (its infinitely easier and faster but it looks new:)
Who would win:
Clear incentives to an intended method of game play
Vs
Driller Mindset
Sooooooo true
It is actually possible to beat this mission while skipping every step. For this you'd need a bulk detonator to spawn inside the core and then dig out through the top, this for some reason lets you call in the drop pod after you deposit the seeds
If I was Management, I would be a little angry over sending a 23 ton expensive drillevator only for a couple of dwarves to use even MORE resources and time only to say we did it without the ‘vator.
Would I still do it and drill though? Hell. Yes.
Now that I think about it, how expensive is each seed that sending a disposable elevator is worth it?
I already know the answer, but I am intrigued to see how far they get.
You could probably get the morkite seeds then activate the drillevator and press the button
if they would actually make it an achievement, I think the fact that achievement hunters would have a REALLY bad time 100% the game is just so much funnier than keeping the achievement number at 69
without a cheese suppler? thats rough. :D gg
just an observation, that "weird message" from management seemed to come alongside Molly lighting up the extraction button.
there still might be a potential sequence break in there by doing what you did right up till Starting the drillevator, then immediately trying to summon the pod via Molly.
Thanks for your contributions to Dorf Science!
me and my friends actually completed it on first try, we didn't mean to though. our driller glitched to the geode and idk what got into us but instead of doing the deepscan we dug straight down to him. we hit the place right above the geode and were unable to dig through so we got the driller to order a resupply and we made it down. collected the morkite seeds and for some reason we actually were able to call for the drop pod. only the scout was able to make it to the drop pod though since we digged straight down and we had no time even with the driller to make it back up 😅
Im going to spam “lets drill ahead” in public lobbies now lol
I assumed you would done the scanning so u would have just dug straight down from under the drillevator, but this is better
BEFORE I WATCH THE VIDEO:
Yes you can, I did this with my friend, I was a driller and he was a scout.
I wonder if you could EPC mine to the hardened rock though.
i tried this just now, with the only difference being that i mined out the entire outer area around the geode with infinite c4's. it took me over a fukcing hour (i did it by myself cuz i was bored) and it nearly crashed my game when i blew up the last supporting piece.
to my surprise though, it actually sequence broke the mission, unlike what happened with you! i didn't do a single scan, and i never summoned the drillevator!
i think the difference might be that is the morkite seeds actually spawned and dropped for me, unlike what happened here in this video. i just deposited the seeds into the M.U.L.E. and it gave me the prompt to call the droppod.
Knowing that someday DRG achievement count could be more/less then 69 make's me sad..
“Subscribe for more bullshit”
Me: “Alr”
Maybe do the resonance scan then use the drillevator's location as a guide on where to drill at?
also u could call supply on bottom of geo and enter on top hole thats much easier but u need one scout couse brobably of death of fall.
No, I don't think you were truly softlocked. The button to end the mission is on the MULE, not the drillevator.
Imagine if yall brought 1 engi to this operation.
Once I joined to my friend and we didn't needed to drill using platform and mission was finished and they didn't had driller
Was it worth it? No
Was the effort impressive? Rock and Stone worthy 💪 ⛏️
It might be good to bring an engine to help getting up the resupply tube
You madlads.
