I kinda like korlok a lot. It is challenging miniboss but it's still fun. It's also look pretty dope and shiny things that it drops on death are satisfying
Just lost an escort mission to this thing sitting RIGHT in the dozer's path and also within fiering range of where the dozer stopped at the ommuran. Was a very painfully drawn out mission fail as bugs continue to spawn in while we're fighting it and desperately trying to get people back up who go down, and even if we had killed it we would probably have lost the mission anyway since it was a long mission with a lot of fighting beofore that point (2 refueling stops) and the korlok would have eaten WAY to much ammo for there to be enough left for the ommuran fight and the evac. I despise this fucking thing because nothing else in the entire game is so heavily affected by the spot it desicides to spawn in.
Korlok is hella fun unless it spawns on a mission with kinda netty and very vertical terrain which basically creates a shit ton of small tunnels in a large open area. Then if you are a scout then this is not that big of a deal but put an engineer with a shotgun in this situation and it will most definitely stall your mission progress for a while. At least that's what happened to me the first time I encountered Korlok
@@professorxxx4142 Korlok should be banned from spawning on mission types with static objectives (PE, refining, escort and sabotage), because if it spawns next to one of the static objectives it becomes mandatory instead of optional. @@carljohan9265it's events like this that will make me move forward from spawn, especially if I have the driller. Run the scouting mission along the path to make sure there were no super spooky surprises waiting for me.
Had a korlok spawn on refining directly next to the refinery, and the cave was wide open so it had vision of the whole map except for one side cave. Its safe to say Bitchweed would not allow us to make any progress and that mission quickly went in the dumpster.
I just had a refining mission exactly like this. The Korlok is right next to the refinery. Luckily there was also a Crassus! Big buddy helped me wipe the Korlok f*cker in an instant.
tip: when the korlok respawns the sprouts and health pods, it shoots out a bunch of arcing lines like can be seen at 5:37. it helps to try and track where the pink/purple ones go, as those are the healing pods that need to be dealt with immediately. of course those can be a bit of a pain to follow, but it helps to be aware. it also helps if your scout lives.
Depends on the configuration. If you're unlucky enough to get a Heavy Burster/Drone Replicator tower, then yeah it's one of the hardest encounters you can find - both are deadly and very difficult to fully lock down, with varying patterns.
Omen towers aren't actually too hard if you prep correctly. Always use your pointer to check each section before you open the omen, and plan accordingly. If there are drones, scout should shoot the drones, so the people on the buttons don't have to worry about them. However, all bosses can become easy if you know how to deal with them. If you struggle with omens, look up a guide, and it will give you what you need to know Korloks only open once a certain number of sprouts have been killed, so if no healing pods are up you can revive your team without too much issue
@@capybarinyaThe Plasma thing is actually the least of your worries with the Omen. The second and Third levels are your biggest threats. For the Plasma Burster just drop a resupply or stack 4 (or 5?) Engi platforms ontop of the scanners and that basically eliminates the Plasma Burster as a threat. If you already know this information sorry but hopefully somebody can learn from this c:
The Korlok also just... wakes up to nothing? Sometimes? Like if Bosco/Molly/some *air* _breathes_ wrong near them, they can just wake up and antagonize you when you had no intention of proc'ing their aggression.
one explanation for this could be stepping on the roots on the floor near them. It wakes them up and it’s not always easy to see lying on the floor due to terrain, nor does it make a sound or anything.
I hadn't seen a korlok in AGES until yesterday. Was supposed to be your average mission, and then a meteor dropped. And then a doozy of a swarm. And then we found the tyrant weed.. and then a dreadnought spawned after. Crazy mission that was.
Terrain, mission circumstances, ammo status, team member experience, etc. All of these have a massive impact on how hard or easy any of these mini bosses are going to be.
The boss itself can be really easy, if very distracting. The problem comes when your entire team is ignoring you pinging it and doesn't seen to notice they're being shot by something with a boss health bar. I will never forget when all three of my teammates had the situational awareness of stone.
Korlok Weeds do, indeed, end entire careers. Congratulations on defeating such a tyrant. Consider it redemption from the two previous Korlok attempts back at the Unknown Horrors episode.
Also I had a korlok spawn in an area once where a cliff like 40 feet higher than us was above it. It spawned multiple healing pods in the cliff it was bull shit. We wasted two resupplies of ammo on it.
Yeah Korlok can be borderline impossible if it is high up in a hard to reach area, plus it can sprout healing pods in neighboring caves. In wide open flat caves, Korlok is quizzically easy. Its difficulty scales with the verticality and complexity of the surrounding cave
It's hard because it requires both engineer and driller to use their gear, which most of them dont even have a clue they had it on them 99% of the time
I definitely think the Korlok can be much more situational than the other bosses, if the team is unprepared or the map isn't great. I've had Tyrant Weeds that I could solo, and I've had one recently solo that sucked a lot because I kept running out of ammo (thinking I had enough on me) and had to melee it to death while making sure it didn't heal because it took longer to refill my ammo than it took to heal up. Definitely not as bad as yours, but I understand your pain because it just turns into a slog.
This is absolutely true. Both of my hardest missions ever were caused by one of those weeds in a horrible location. It was so bad I installed a recording software in case it happened again and it did so there’s a video out there of that now. I can very much agree with this sentiment.
Ended up fighting a korlok and a corruptor at the same time the other day on a haz 4, we wiped there and went back out only to be faced with 4+ spitballers in the same room with a contagion spike. Fun times
@@zer0her048 Just because a joke is overused doesn't make it bad. Just means you got a sense of humor that makes spaming the rock and stone button in your presence less appealing.
The worst time was when it was right next to Doretta, so we had to keep fighting it or we'd lose the mission. We did not have nearly enough ammo. Full team of fertilizer.
I always bring my driller on the escort missions. Tunnel through the whole thing before starting Doretta (the heartstone is always at bearing 220), clear all the rooms, any events, mini bosses, get all the nitra you need, then go back and start the mission proper. No swarms ever happen before starting Doretta, just mini mobs here and there. Makes the mission much easier.
Ah, you've just unlocked a repressed memory of mine. A while back I got this boss with a random team on a egg hunt mission. Unfortunately, it was in the worst possible terrain: that kind of formation where there are a bunch of spikes sprouting from the ground and make it really annoying to traverse in between or even get out of the hole. Now imagine a bunch of sprouts positioned in a way where you had absolutely no cover because they could shoot from any 3D direction. I guarantee you, I gave my absolute best as gunner. Couldn't do much when they kept jumping in there, not to add to the swarm that also spawned, just to add insult to injury.
The hardest boss of Deep Rock Galactcic is the cave generation. Last week I had vertically stacked morkite wells in pipe surfing mission. Like, there was one straight down from the minehead, and two more clear on the other end of the caves, one all the way up and the other all the way down hidden behind some dirt
I've had missions end in literally 30 seconds cuz we discovered a Nemesis and got teamwiped by the grabbers I can't say I've ever seen such a brutal Korlok in my 200 hours Some hero-tier gameplay man
I know how you felt there. I once had to face this boss while watching for the drilldozer. To protect it and fight the vines were such a drag! And of course some would spawn too far or in a previous cave system.
Driller is your friend on this one. Both flamethrower and frost cannon work good, but driller's main feature here is trenches. Korlok not only is stationary, its spitting weeds also have fixed spawning points. Meaning that, ideally, before triggering it you should dig a few holes (like foxholes mentioned by other people) to hide from blasts. Also, driller can dig to fallen teammates and revive them if he stays alive (which wasn't the case for your team). Throwing axes are good at melee range if there's a need for quick damage burst (for the occasional healing pod or Korlok itself when it opens). Overall, it's somewhat akin to the Caretaker or OMEN - preparation and coordination are almost half the work. Of course, a cursed cave generation can wreck even the stongest team. Good luck!
Only reason Korlok is so hard is cause often it spawns in very wierd and cramped areas where its hard to avoid the projectiles (pro tip for the drillers, the sprouts can not shoot when taking dmg, that includes dot dmg so just setting all of them on fire will make it infintely easier for your team). I had a few ones that spawned the sprouts and healing pods in completely different room above the Korlok wich made taking it out very annoying and very ammo intensive
Dude this video was awesome, specially for me a greenbeard who's learning the game and his main language is not english. Really helpfull how you explain everything and put subtitles. Thanks man great work!
Korlok can be the most annoying without a Scout grappling and a Gunner shield but no other boss has the ability to continuously blow chunks of flesh off your bones even after you have defeated them like Bet-C does.
One time I played an egg hunt with a rival presence modifier. It was one massive cave that was mostly flat with like a dozen turrets and a tyrant weed. It was projectile hell
i'd say Korlok 's difficulty just like the Tritilyte Deposit, depends on terrain, a flat ground Korok is a cakewalk, and soo is the Trit, but when you add in elevation, killing healing seeds, bringing bombs tests your team greatly, thats why Tritilyte is usually either 10 secs long, or fail
Agree, I had a bomb dispenser land on a nearby ledge overlooking it. It was positioned PERFECTLY so that I could just grab the bombs and throw them at about a 45⁰ angle and hit it. Easiest one ever
On a lot of the bosses, it depends on cave layout. I had a fight with the Corruptor in solo. I was in a very tight space with no red sugar. It was a cave bend narrow passage with an open path up. Luckily I was playing Scout so I was able to run up levels to look for red sugar while Bosco kept peppering the Corruptor to little and no effect. I ended up needing nitra to call for an ammo resupply. It was a very long fight. The path was so tight that every time I dropped down to fight I took a lot of damage from the Corruptor.
No clue why but any time i have to fight this boss im suddenly either very low or just out of ammo on everything, i end up just preemptively trying to save ammo by melee-ing all the tentacles
I would agree that Korlok would be the most difficult boss. The one thing I would really change about it is if you're playing with 3 or 4 people, it would change to 4 separated health bars instead of 3. But honestly, even though it's the most difficult, I also think that it's where the other minibosses should stand in terms of difficulty, and reward. The corruptor isn't usually hard, but can be exceedingly annoying when you're low on people (playing solo or with one other person), so I'd want Ghost Ship to slightly increase the difficulty but increase the rewards as well. As of right now, I don't usually consider it even worth it to take out the corruptor unless absolutely necessary, since 3 plague hearts is just half a scrip. I think the prospector and the nemesis should just come with a larger XP bonus, honestly, but both of them can be relatively easy to take out (although prospectors can definitely have some run ending moments, as long as the team is prepared it's a piece of cake).
I once got so pissed at a prospector almost ending a run I deadass chased it across the map while unloading mag after mag into it as engi, while lagging to the point of choppy game play. Yeah, I don't know what possessed me back then but I loved every second of it
I don’t find the Korlok that difficult, probably because Electricity (and apparently other DoTs as well) stop the sprouts from attacking, and I run the Stubby and Shard Diffractor on Engi
If you have an engineer and your willing to spend platforms you can make a wall between your uplink and the Tyrant weed if you really dont wanna deal with them, Drillers/Gunners also make them pretty easy with tunnels and gunner just constantly taking down the sprouts.
Ever tried beating a modular tower by yourself? It's the most stressful boss situation I've ever experienced in the entire game, the little flying explosive drones deal comically large damage even on hazard 3 and it's painful
Korlok is definitely the hardest miniboss (only OMEN comes close and that's only if you don't have a good single target build and an engie who knows what he's doing), but there's a hard counter to it: you can freeze the sprouts. Driller with the cryo cannon (especially with snowball overclock) turns it into a pretty easy fight.
I can say that it's the most annoying one for sure. I once had a tyrant fight where it made sprouts on 3 different levels and tyrant itself was standing on a small island of land. We spent so much nitra on it... But I want to say that Betsy is more dangerous because she can chase you unlike the static vegetable.
The Tyrant Weed only gave me trouble when I was new to the game but now I feel like it's the easiest. Corruptor is definitely the hardest for me because it keeps spewing out all of those annoying patches everyone and also vines and ground pounds.
i agree with all your points however personally in my solo missions when i find this, i don't usually have a bad time with it. i think that might be down to the difficulty scaling with player count and that i'm on haz 4, not 5. also might be that gunner has a better time with his shield able to give me breathing room, and of course being gunner to do big dps on damage phases. would be interesting to see how i find it with a squad though, maybe there's more shooters and healers and stuff. great video!
it does actually scale with player count! i figured this out when recording some of the b-roll. it's also entirely possible that you're just a better player, too, so give yourself some credit
Definitely agree about the Korlok. It always eats through half of the team's ammo on a good spawn, but if it spans multiple caves then have a driller or die.
Definetly agree, Korlok can hit in all the wrong ways. Unless we count omen tower as a mini boss, hate that thing, easily takes first place. Probably doesn´t help that I usually run with randoms if I play coop. Not that they are bad, but Omen needs coordination
omen can be very brutal without a coordinated team, yeah. i can't count on two hands how many times we've lost to the omen tower. i would need many, many more
if you have either engie or a lot of nitra, you can do it pretty easily. place an engie platform just above the things you stand on or a resupply pod. you should be able to dodge the annoying laser spam which is probably the one you're having trouble the most.
I once had to fight a Tyrant weed in spaghetti caves, where the weeds were so spread out that by the time I got to the core it was already closed again, and even when I did do damage, the healing pods were more scattered than my braincells in an exam.
I actually really like it when you have a good team that work together. But last night, I had a Korlock weed, a corruptor and sheild disruption at the same time. It was a total nightmare 😂 we completely ran out of ammunition and ended up hiding in a hole from the weeds and lithophage and died being swarmed by swarmers 😂
I find it depends on two factors: How long you've been in the mission (wave size and frequency) and also terrain generation. I can think of at least two occasions where i've lost a mission two a combination of these factors and advising against doing the korlock but the team want to go for it regardless. I'll always go with the team decision because it's more fun but for 1500 xp and 1050 creds it's hard to walk away from.
The hardest "boss" is the Omen Modular Exterminator like god have you ever tried to beat it with the seeking drones , lasers and Radial Pulse-Gun and on top of all that weaponary you have to somehow stand still long enough to shoot out the weak points ON EACH LAYER. Whoever made this event can get dropped with all the barrels I kicked down into the drop chute.
I think the hardest mini boss is actually the Omen machine tower, if you count it as a boss at all. The floor lazers and suicide drones are the worst to deal with without a plan.
the new corrupter is absolutely NOT the hardest, as the thing that makes the others so hard sometimes is you often have no choice in engaging them meanwhile the corrupter will only start attacking after being hit with lithofoam
Korlok is giga nuts. I don't remember how many times this shit is just "Now you're going to die, buddy". You were just having fun with your friends, but then you turn into the room, and fucking Vietnam begins. And if you relax for even a second, this shit will just destroy you. Gg bro. ..... Yes, I hate Korlok. Btw, video is great. Thanks for great content!
Had a nasty tyrant weed on an uplink mission just earlier this evening. The heart blended in pretty well around a corner and we didn't notice it until one of us started the uplink and threw a ripper in its general direction. Needless to say, the sprouts did not like our uplink shenanigans.
Hey, the prospector is actually very difficult. Korloks can drain your ammo on very vertical maps (or sit above a refinery and prevent depositing, damn things), and sure BET-C will be a bit of a pain always, but prospectors can run _anywhere_ and are much faster than dwarves. And they never stop spawning large groups of bots and swarms of shredders if they get away before that shield goes up, and they are tanky as all hell which means a team caught unawares can lack the coordinated firepower to focus it down quickly. By comparison the korlok's projectiles are easy to dodge and the pods and the sprouts which are actually relevant to the fight can be easily focused due to their independent health pools being rather small. The heart-clam itself is also able to be damaged beyond stage thresholds, because it is a well-designed encounter and not whatever the hell the people adding damage caps to the Caretaker and prospector phases were thinking passed for one. Anyways, that prospector encounter was one hell of an escort mission. Painful thing. But informative, though the cost analysis has yet to come back. Also you can two-cycle a korlok with embedded detonators if you're solo, in case you wanted to try it (not sure if it works on five but it should work on four).
interesting and respectable take, depending on mission type i guess prospectors can give you a run for your money. i will admit that i do certainly enjoy fighting the korlok weed more than the prospector, prospector can be a little annoying/frustrating due to just how much faster it is than dwarves, as you've said. i'll have to try those embedded detonators on a korlok one day, if the stars align. one of my favorite ocs tbh
I think that the corrupter and the OMEN are harder, but none of them are bad if you have a well coordinated team. Korlok can eat through all of your amo easily if you're not careful though, which does make it a little bit tough. I'd probably say 1-Omen 2-Corrupter 3-Korlok 4-BET-C 5-Random Dreadnoughts 6-Detonators 7-Nemesis 8-Prospector (I think that's all of them)
I absolutely despise the new corruptor boss. On multiplayer it isnt that hard since 4 people cleanse it pretty quickly but on singleplayer its pure cancer to cleanse, avoid the puddles, kill bugs and dodge the boss at the same time
I can agree with this from experience, me and my friend were doing salvage and a korlok spawned on a bunch of pillars and a cliff I practically had to solo it as scout and it took like half the mission and a resupply
To be clear, KTW can either be the hardest or easiest enemy in the game. It all depends on the situation. I would say Nemesis is consistently the most terrifying, and Bet-C definitely has the most firepower, but a Korlok with unfortunate cave gen can make a mission practically impossible. Because with a Korlok, you aren't just fighting an enemy. You're fighting Hoxxes itself. *AND YOU'RE GONNA WIN.* That mindset and difficulty is a critical part of what makes DRG fun, if you ask me. Rock and stone, brothers. I'll see you in the field. Oh, and... Nice clutch.
I remember fighting this thing as soon as I got out of the drop pod my teammates were 2 drillers and my build was meant for crowd control so the boss chewed through our ammo and had only my platform ammo left
I had a tyrant weed on an extremely vertical map, so the plants spawned over 4 different 'levels', and even with ziplines, only the scout could easily move between them. We beat it eventually, but only after 2 dwarves quit and were replaced, and it took like 20 minutes.
Personally any boss can be hard or easy, it all depends on the caves gen and bits of rng, once a player gets to know the game and that they will soon be equipped with the knowledge onto how to beat them all. I’m not to sure on the tyrant weeds healing pods spawn decide but I’d assume it’s up to rng
Yeah Korlok can definitely be rough. We were on an elimination mission and one popped up at us. We were fighting it and someone accidentally triggered the dreadnaught. Fighting a dreadnaught and korlok was damn near impossible. So many deaths but we somehow persevered. Insanity
Weirdest thing is that like a day or two before seeing this, my team had gotten 3 korloks in a row. We started turning down the hazard rating from 5 after the second one because of how grueling they were.
dunno, I agree with most of these points, but I’ve never really had problems dealing with korloks. Despite the severe lack of communication in public lobbies. Only really tend to *lose* missions to omens, but do get stuck in that cycle of barely clinging on to life nearly every time I encounter a corruptor :)
My first time seeing a Tyrant Weed was in one of those rooms that's just a pit full of pillars, with a cave just above where it would spawn healing pods. We did not survive. We also both seem to have the handicap of a team that has zero self preservation skills lol.
My favourite korlok spawns include: Ride under where a refinery would drop. Some random hole directly where Dotty drives around, and finally next to a drop pod evac...
I had a mission where there was a small ledge super high up in the cave, the ledge was just big enough for this guy to spawn on, and we were only on hazard 3 but this made it impossible to kill because we couldn’t stand up there without getting shredded and we couldn’t kill it from below. This is definitely one of the harder bosses
I did an assignment for the 2022 Christmas event on haz 5 and that stupid plant was in the final room in the mining mission. It took me 2 hours of inviting friends to help kill that thing, we eventually all died because we ran out of ammo and the healing bulbs were always in spots that killed us almost immediately. I have a never dying hatred for the korlok now because of that one mission!
i remember 2 days ago i was in the ice biome and was forced to fight nemesis right after that this a hole spawned and through its phases i got short on ammo and since it was pretty early in the mission i couldn’t call resupply so in its last phase i ran out and it regenerated faster than i could kill his minions which basically softlocked me and made me aboard the mission
As scout, you can grapple to it, power attack, and unload both shotgun shells into it and using the second special powder shot to fly away (you fire the first on on the ground). You deal a LOT of damage that way, and since you're barely there for three seconds it's surprisingly safe.
The hardest boss in the game is... Cave Generation. Now I know that is a little vague, so let me explain: it is 9:30 at night and our scout main want's his first promo mission, however he has to go in 30 min. But, he doesn't want to lose xp, so he plays engi, along with me and our other engi. After struggleign out of a deep hole in the cave, me and the engi main get to the cave our scout main is in. I see a lithophage outbreak. Ok i thing, its just an outbreak. Then i see the korlok tyrant weed and start fighting that with my team. After i am almost completely out of ammo and this tyrant weed kept healing, our engi main triggers a bet-c. fighting the bet-c with juts my pickaxe, i slowly kill it. Then i look at the korlok's health bar. it was full. then we eventually all die because we had no ammo and no scout to go get nitra for a resup. long story short, our scout main only plays scout now.
i had an encounter with the korlok tyrant weed on hazard 5, our team was a trio and we were fighting the weed, we ran out of ammo as swarms kept engaging, we resorted to pickaxing the sprouts (not fun) and one of our teammates went down to try and find some nitra, we still ended up killing it at the end and got on the drop pod with a single shard

Haunted cave is already spawn restricted for similar reasons so why not the korlok?
@@carljohan9265it's events like this that will make me move forward from spawn, especially if I have the driller. Run the scouting mission along the path to make sure there were no super spooky surprises waiting for me.
Had a korlok spawn on refining directly next to the refinery, and the cave was wide open so it had vision of the whole map except for one side cave. Its safe to say Bitchweed would not allow us to make any progress and that mission quickly went in the dumpster.
yeah, and then in those cases you have to deal with it as fast as possible or risk running out of nitra, especially on a refinery mission
I just had a refining mission exactly like this. The Korlok is right next to the refinery. Luckily there was also a Crassus! Big buddy helped me wipe the Korlok f*cker in an instant.
@@laLuminescence
And then you were rich!
tip: when the korlok respawns the sprouts and health pods, it shoots out a bunch of arcing lines like can be seen at 5:37. it helps to try and track where the pink/purple ones go, as those are the healing pods that need to be dealt with immediately. of course those can be a bit of a pain to follow, but it helps to be aware. it also helps if your scout lives.
thank u for the tip!
Does the OMEN tower count? Because I would definitely say that gives the korlok a run for its money
i would say it does, yeah. omen is probably the second hardest boss for our group
Depends on the configuration. If you're unlucky enough to get a Heavy Burster/Drone Replicator tower, then yeah it's one of the hardest encounters you can find - both are deadly and very difficult to fully lock down, with varying patterns.
with some knowlege (for example, plasma-waves generator(??) panel is always on opposite side from that core thing with key(???)) omen tower is easy.
If you struggle with omens, look up a guide, and it will give you what you need to know
Korloks only open once a certain number of sprouts have been killed, so if no healing pods are up you can revive your team without too much issue
Sometimes? Like if Bosco/Molly/some *air* _breathes_ wrong near them, they can just wake up and antagonize you when you had no intention of proc'ing their aggression.
yeah it’s a weird one! it’s very inconsistent in that regard, found that out when i was recording b-roll
one explanation for this could be stepping on the roots on the floor near them. It wakes them up and it’s not always easy to see lying on the floor due to terrain, nor does it make a sound or anything.
3:15 I totally agree, BUT as the Engineer, you "could" build a wall to protect your team and the objective from the sniper plants, just saying.
GENIUS!
I hadn't seen a korlok in AGES until yesterday. Was supposed to be your average mission, and then a meteor dropped. And then a doozy of a swarm. And then we found the tyrant weed.. and then a dreadnought spawned after. Crazy mission that was.
those missions are great fun!
Are dreadnought random spawns rare? I am account rank 60 something and I never ever encountered a wave where a dreadnought spawns

Terrain, mission circumstances, ammo status, team member experience, etc. All of these have a massive impact on how hard or easy any of these mini bosses are going to be.
completely agree!
The boss itself can be really easy, if very distracting. The problem comes when your entire team is ignoring you pinging it and doesn't seen to notice they're being shot by something with a boss health bar. I will never forget when all three of my teammates had the situational awareness of stone.
They rock and stoned them selfs or the driller blinded everyone with rock dust
Korlok Weeds do, indeed, end entire careers. Congratulations on defeating such a tyrant. Consider it redemption from the two previous Korlok attempts back at the Unknown Horrors episode.
oh boy i forgot about that… i have even WORSE korlok footage still on my hard drive…
@@nameisnttaylorgive it to us
Also I had a korlok spawn in an area once where a cliff like 40 feet higher than us was above it. It spawned multiple healing pods in the cliff it was bull shit. We wasted two resupplies of ammo on it.
it’s the worst when it pulls stuff like that
Yeah Korlok can be borderline impossible if it is high up in a hard to reach area, plus it can sprout healing pods in neighboring caves.
Definitely not as bad as yours, but I understand your pain because it just turns into a slog.
absolutely valid take on mister tyrant-weed
This is absolutely true. Both of my hardest missions ever were caused by one of those weeds in a horrible location. It was so bad I installed a recording software in case it happened again and it did so there’s a video out there of that now. I can very much agree with this sentiment.
yeah gotta catch that shit on film, tired of these korloks getting away with making my life hell
Ended up fighting a korlok and a corruptor at the same time the other day on a haz 4, we wiped there and went back out only to be faced with 4+ spitballers in the same room with a contagion spike. Fun times

The worst time was when it was right next to Doretta, so we had to keep fighting it or we'd lose the mission. We did not have nearly enough ammo. Full team of fertilizer.
WOW, that's rough. don't think i've ever had one in an escort mission
2:07 This Kris joke didn’t age well💀
actually crazy tbh
11 months late to this but that is the hardest and dumbest mini boss those rocks do nothing it's just nice to look at in your hands
Couldn't do much when they kept jumping in there, not to add to the swarm that also spawned, just to add insult to injury.
the universe was against you my friend! you did your best
The hardest boss of Deep Rock Galactcic is the cave generation. Last week I had vertically stacked morkite wells in pipe surfing mission. Like, there was one straight down from the minehead, and two more clear on the other end of the caves, one all the way up and the other all the way down hidden behind some dirt
sounds nightmarish
I take exclusively driller to on-site refining missions solo. Otherwise the terrain is too often impossible.
@@Teth47 same but with escort missions
I've had missions end in literally 30 seconds cuz we discovered a Nemesis and got teamwiped by the grabbers
I can't say I've ever seen such a brutal Korlok in my 200 hours

appreciate it!
Pro tip: lighting the sprouts on fire disables them from firing. Iirc it won't stop the pods from healing though...
I know how you felt there. I once had to face this boss while watching for the drilldozer. To protect it and fight the vines were such a drag! And of course some would spawn too far or in a previous cave system.
naturally! it really loves to just throw its sprouts and pods in different caves
Good luck!
thank you! appreciate the tips
I had a few ones that spawned the sprouts and healing pods in completely different room above the Korlok wich made taking it out very annoying and very ammo intensive
interesting, i didn’t know that about that! i’ll give the flamethrower a try

Korlok can be the most annoying without a Scout grappling and a Gunner shield but no other boss has the ability to continuously blow chunks of flesh off your bones even after you have defeated them like Bet-C does.
TRUE! she just griefs
The editing sells these vids. Its just so good.
i appreciate that big time, thank you!
One time I played an egg hunt with a rival presence modifier. It was one massive cave that was mostly flat with like a dozen turrets and a tyrant weed. It was projectile hell
it certainly sounds like it!
i'd say Korlok 's difficulty just like the Tritilyte Deposit, depends on terrain, a flat ground Korok is a cakewalk, and soo is the Trit, but when you add in elevation, killing healing seeds, bringing bombs tests your team greatly, thats why Tritilyte is usually either 10 secs long, or fail
I think that the hardest boss in your game is the imposter glypid monster known as code name, Anna aka Gamma.
it's true
The real hardest boss was the friends we made along the way
and don't let anyone tell u otherwise
THE CHRIS COMMENT AGED LIKE FINE WINE
FINE WINE!!
I think the prospector and the nemesis should just come with a larger XP bonus, honestly, but both of them can be relatively easy to take out (although prospectors can definitely have some run ending moments, as long as the team is prepared it's a piece of cake).
i agree with you on all fronts
It's the most stressful boss situation I've ever experienced in the entire game, the little flying explosive drones deal comically large damage even on hazard 3 and it's painful
i don't usually have too much trouble with the omen tower solo, but i can see how it could be a huge pain
Korlok is definitely the hardest miniboss (only OMEN comes close and that's only if you don't have a good single target build and an engie who knows what he's doing), but there's a hard counter to it: you can freeze the sprouts. Driller with the cryo cannon (especially with snowball overclock) turns it into a pretty easy fight.
that's what i've heard! i really need to get my hands on snowball, looks fun
I can say that it's the most annoying one for sure.
I once had a tyrant fight where it made sprouts on 3 different levels and tyrant itself was standing on a small island of land.
We spent so much nitra on it...
But I want to say that Betsy is more dangerous because she can chase you unlike the static vegetable.
bet-c is a lot harder with fewer people, i find. i guess that’s a pretty common opinion though
The Tyrant Weed only gave me trouble when I was new to the game but now I feel like it's the easiest. Corruptor is definitely the hardest for me because it keeps spewing out all of those annoying patches everyone and also vines and ground pounds.
I get happy when i see minibosses cause
Miniboss = extra xp
preach
i agree with all your points however personally in my solo missions when i find this, i don't usually have a bad time with it. i think that might be down to the difficulty scaling with player count and that i'm on haz 4, not 5. also might be that gunner has a better time with his shield able to give me breathing room, and of course being gunner to do big dps on damage phases. would be interesting to see how i find it with a squad though, maybe there's more shooters and healers and stuff. great video!
it does actually scale with player count! i figured this out when recording some of the b-roll. it's also entirely possible that you're just a better player, too, so give yourself some credit
Definitely agree about the Korlok. It always eats through half of the team's ammo on a good spawn, but if it spans multiple caves then have a driller or die.
The difficulty of a Korlok weed can go WAY up depending on the terrain where it spawns.
2:04 That aged well XD
FUCK!
It was a total nightmare 😂 we completely ran out of ammunition and ended up hiding in a hole from the weeds and lithophage and died being swarmed by swarmers 😂
brutal! happens to the best of us, i suppose...
In my experience I've only lost a mission once to the weed, while it was several times to the corruptor.
always hyped for a new taylor upload
also hi bailey :)
thank you, i’ll let her know u said hi
I find it depends on two factors: How long you've been in the mission (wave size and frequency) and also terrain generation. I can think of at least two occasions where i've lost a mission two a combination of these factors and advising against doing the korlock but the team want to go for it regardless. I'll always go with the team decision because it's more fun but for 1500 xp and 1050 creds it's hard to walk away from.
i agree with you completely and entirely
NEW NAMEISTAYLOR RUclips!!
The hardest "boss" is the Omen Modular Exterminator like god have you ever tried to beat it with the seeking drones , lasers and Radial Pulse-Gun and on top of all that weaponary you have to somehow stand still long enough to shoot out the weak points ON EACH LAYER. Whoever made this event can get dropped with all the barrels I kicked down into the drop chute.
omen is absolutely a close second for us, sometimes it feels like it deserves first place i'll admit
@nameisnttaylor Honestly depends what weapons it has located where, drastically changes how hard it is.
Honestly, this might be a scout thing, but the hardest miniboss in my opinion has to be the driller. 🙂
understandable, nothing mini about that boss
Always just hear that telltale beeping next to you at the worst times
I think the hardest mini boss is actually the Omen machine tower, if you count it as a boss at all. The floor lazers and suicide drones are the worst to deal with without a plan.
it’s a close second for us
the new corrupter is absolutely NOT the hardest, as the thing that makes the others so hard sometimes is you often have no choice in engaging them meanwhile the corrupter will only start attacking after being hit with lithofoam

Had a nasty tyrant weed on an uplink mission just earlier this evening. The heart blended in pretty well around a corner and we didn't notice it until one of us started the uplink and threw a ripper in its general direction. Needless to say, the sprouts did not like our uplink shenanigans.
NEW NAME IS TAYLOR!!
I'd probably say
1-Omen
2-Corrupter
3-Korlok
4-BET-C
5-Random Dreadnoughts
6-Detonators
7-Nemesis
8-Prospector
(I think that's all of them)
i like your list, well put and fairly ranked
I absolutely despise the new corruptor boss. On multiplayer it isnt that hard since 4 people cleanse it pretty quickly but on singleplayer its pure cancer to cleanse, avoid the puddles, kill bugs and dodge the boss at the same time
yeah solo corruptor sounds HORRIBLE to deal with, i haven't experienced that quite yet
I can agree with this from experience, me and my friend were doing salvage and a korlok spawned on a bunch of pillars and a cliff
I practically had to solo it as scout and it took like half the mission and a resupply
it can be ROUGH yeah, it always finds a way to annoy players
Oh, and... Nice clutch.
thanks gamer… rock and stone!
I’m not to sure on the tyrant weeds healing pods spawn decide but I’d assume it’s up to rng
yeah, it’s pretty rng to my understanding
Yeah Korlok can definitely be rough. We were on an elimination mission and one popped up at us. We were fighting it and someone accidentally triggered the dreadnaught. Fighting a dreadnaught and korlok was damn near impossible. So many deaths but we somehow persevered. Insanity
oh wow, yeah. sounds like a rough time. fun tho
Weirdest thing is that like a day or two before seeing this, my team had gotten 3 korloks in a row. We started turning down the hazard rating from 5 after the second one because of how grueling they were.
yeah they're ROUGH on haz 5... for real
I remember a Korlok has extended a 4 dwarf mission to an hour long suffering marathon. It was in a deep pit so everyone fell in it
3:03 placing platforms to block projectiles or digging objective down with driller may help a lot
dunno, I agree with most of these points, but I’ve never really had problems dealing with korloks. Despite the severe lack of communication in public lobbies. Only really tend to *lose* missions to omens, but do get stuck in that cycle of barely clinging on to life nearly every time I encounter a corruptor :)
It's only a problem on hazard 4, and on hazard 5 it's just hell
valid! omens are a more common killer, to my understanding. but people do tend to cheese it more often than they cheese the tyrant weed
Some random hole directly where Dotty drives around, and finally next to a drop pod evac...
the hardest boss is a driller at the end of a mission
true honestly
I've had 3 Korloks in my last 25 missions or so, all of them on cliffs with oversight of large rooms. All of them were absolute nightmares to fight.
I have a never dying hatred for the korlok now because of that one mission!
i feel that!
i remember 2 days ago i was in the ice biome and was forced to fight nemesis right after that this a hole spawned and through its phases i got short on ammo and since it was pretty early in the mission i couldn’t call resupply so in its last phase i ran out and it regenerated faster than i could kill his minions which basically softlocked me and made me aboard the mission
damn… rough mission
I know this is not the thing I should be focusing on but I actually smiled when I saw Kris’s name being spelt correctly in the captions
i do my best!
As scout, you can grapple to it, power attack, and unload both shotgun shells into it and using the second special powder shot to fly away (you fire the first on on the ground). You deal a LOT of damage that way, and since you're barely there for three seconds it's surprisingly safe.
They gotta nerf the korlock tho like I’ve died to it too many times
The hardest boss in the game is... Cave Generation. Now I know that is a little vague, so let me explain:
it is 9:30 at night and our scout main want's his first promo mission, however he has to go in 30 min.
