What a horrible week.Nothing could be sadder. Olivia was more than an Australian icon. She was a HERO who spent much of her life supporting those with cancer and raising funds ($100 million) for the Cancer wellness centre in Melbourne and went on to establish one in the U.S. Thank you for this perfect choice as it was her favourite. John Travolta posted a beautiful tribute to her. All of Australia is in grief. Thank you Olivia, Australia is so proud of you. RIP.
We're all in mourning here in Australia. Such a strong and courageous woman who fought cancer right to the end. May she rest peacefully. What a legacy. What a human. I feel like a piece of australia has died
I live on NY and I get a couple of Australia feeds. I saw the tribute Karl and Allie did and her friend whose name I can't remember. I got some tears. I think pur equivalent would be Dolly Parton. I really loved her on multiple levels. God bless her loved ones and those who loved her.
Well said Lavishka. She was such a beautiful person and a huge part of our lives growing up. Always a wonderful ambassador for our country and a great role model for women everywhere. So sad.
Aussie here, and what a HORRIBLE week we've had - 1st Archie Roach, then Judith Durham, and now Olivia....Im 56 and grew up with Olivia as a teenagerl. What a pure loving soul she was, and one heck of a lady. We're so proud to call you Australian Olivia, and we will love you always. RIP lady with the voice of an Angel Olivia Newton John, and hugs to all who also have tears running down their faces right now xox
As of yesterday they're talking about giving Judith a State Funeral and at least 90 people want to be part of a Tribute for her. I wonder what they'll do for Olivia?
@@larissahorne9991 All 3 of them need to be remembered in very special ways. I was thrilled yesterday when I heard Judiths family accepted the state funeral, because she was such a huge part of our lives. I would imagine that Olivia's service will be in the US, where her husband and Chloe are, but I'm sure we'll have a very special tribute / service here for Olivia, and I would expect quite a few statues would be / should be erected around Olivia's cancer foundations.
It was already a tough one... and just got so much tougher... Thank you Dominic for shining a light on our Australian artists so that more people around the world got to know living angels like our Livvie.... The fact that you have already showcased her, Judith and Archie is very much appreciated from all of us down under...
@@larissahorne9991 They offered the family the same for Olivia - bit trickier with her being overseas when it happened, but the fact they offered it will make the family happy I'm sure.
My Heart goes out to her family, and to Australia this week. Judith Durham's passing away breaks my heart equally, [in the USA we really didn't know who Archie Roach was]. I grew up with these two singers on the radio and TV. I'm 66. I was a music teacher. Both singers had musical class, knowing when to sing soft and when to uplift, turn up the volume. It's called interpretive singing, and not just vocally showing off like some pop divas do [that stuff makes me yawn...oh brother here we go again]. Because they knew it was about the song, not them, it was intuitive. As for both ladies and their bravery facing their own illnesses, and others, their kindness and charity, they are irreplaceable, set the example in life for the world, and lived their lives in grace and dignity, something sorely lacking in today's world. in a previous world we loved both ladies here in the USA, and you all loved Karen Carpenter...it doesn't get any better than that.
Olivia was perfection. I don't think people these days don't understand how big superstars like ONJ were back in the day. Plus, every teenage boy had a crush on her from 75-82.
Very sad week for us Aussies who grew up with The Seekers, Archie Roach and the beautiful Olivia who - among many accomplishments - was a champion for women suffering from breast cancer. I read that she didn't rate herself as a singer, particularly after several surgical procedures and had to be convinced to join John Farnham and Anthony Warlow on a concert tour of Oz. All three blitzed it with humour, respect and red hot talent. RIP Judith, Archie and Olivia.
This was written by a bloke named John Farrar, he is an Aussie singer and songwriter. He wrote a bunch of Number 1 hits for various people. This one he wrote for Olivia for the Grease album. My heart breaks for her family and freinds. This will be yet another big hit to John Farnham as well. Now she is no longer in pain and finally at rest. RIP Olivia Newton-John.
Gutted! I met her by chance back in 1992 in Nimbin of all places. She was there in a fish and chips shop with her then husband Matt and their daughter who was about 10 years old. She was even more beautiful in real life than in pictures and really sweet and lovely. When she saw we recognised her she smiled and waved to us. So sad... 😪
