  • This is the procedure that is in the Honda shop manual. I will show you how to drain and fill the radiator. The car in the video is a 2007 Civic Si with about 168,000 miles. It is recommended that you use genuine Honda Type 2 antifreeze/coolant on your Honda automobile. You are replacing about 1.19 gallons of coolant. Honda states that the coolant is good for up to 10 years or 120,000 miles. BUT I replace the coolant every 3-5 years.

    I have extra pure mishimoto coolant that's good for all engines so I'll be using about .6 of a gallon of water mixed with .6 of this coolant. It's made to decrease warm up time and keep the engine cooler! I'll be doing that this weekend 🙌

    • @OEMEangg
      @OEMEangg  6 лет назад

      You don't have to disconnect the battery but you can unbolt the battery tie down so you can shift the battery to the side a little. That will give you a little more room. The first time you take off OR put back the reservoir will be a little difficult. You can't really break anything. Let me know if that tip helps...

      @@outofmind9222 yeah can’t see, I took it the shop, my 9th gen, they didn’t have the coolant but I did. I just poured a very tiny bit in there till I can take it the shop. I got the car from car max so it should be fairly new but the guy at the shop said it was low. So like I said I just put some in the reservoir till I can take it to the shop and have them do it. If your draining and refilling, you’d probably wanna follow these steps to a T but most cars you just pour and go.

    • @OEMEangg
      @OEMEangg  Год назад

      The coolant is running up because it is still "burping". Once the radiator fan runs twice, you are done. Check the coolant after a few days and add coolant if needed.

    Coolant reservoir should only be filled between min and max? Not fully?

    • @OEMEangg
      @OEMEangg  6 лет назад +1

      I have always filled it up between min and max. But I have a friend who fills his to max. I check the coolant level often, but if you don't check it very often, it is probably better to fill it to max. It is probably better to have more coolant than less.

    • @harrymajarian9680
      @harrymajarian9680 5 лет назад

      When I did a coolant flush on my s2000 I filled the res halfway. Checked it everytime I put gas in and a few times had to fill it up a little. Air that’s trapped inside the system will burp out from driving so the coolant level will drop. Also when using the heater air that’s trapped in the heater core will burp out.

    • @OEMEangg

      You need to replace the coolant because as the coolant age, it becomes acidic. Also there maybe corrosion in the system.

    • @OEMEangg
