In Europe for newer or aluminium engine we use G12 or G12+ antifreeze, both are purple color. Honda factory coolant last 10 years, after market or coolant from store last 5 years.
Honda's should use the silicate free blue coolant. The neon green coolant is the wrong stuff my man. Peak, Prestone, and Zerex all make the Honda blue stuff.
Ouch ! NEVER. Use green ... always use the blue for Honda
The color is irrelevant, compatible coolants are made in all sorts of colors.
Honda coolant is blue. Am I missing something here?
What's about the coolant which was in the hoses and in the engine you did not take it out
Cats n toys , question what about the air that may have gotten into the system, I didn't see u do anything to rid of any air??
Looked and listened to other videos but yours is the easiest to follow , thanks.
Thanks for the feedback. I try to make these videos easy to follow.
Can we change Engine Coolant in every season of summer for better performance of cooling system in a car?
Its long life coolant don't waste your time and money.
Hi everyone, got a question for ya please. Just bought a beater honda jazz 2006, the car runs fine and heater works, but coolant is lower than MIN, so I went to auto store, gave them my car plate number and model/year, they sold me a bottle of pink coolant, while went home try to top up but found the coolant in tank is like green color. I believe the car has never had a coolant change. So can I mix them up please?
thans did exactly as you said. one question tho. do I need to leave radiatir cap off and bleed air out?
Honda fluid is the recommended fluid and I noticed you didn’t bleed the system. Air in cooling system is not good and Honda’s don’t like air or extreme heat..Thank for the video
No issues using Peak after all these years. The system is bled by not installing the radiator cap to full lock. Appreciate the feedback nonetheless.
You forgot to say let it cool down after the fan runs two times. The coolant might be hot? And one more question, do you leave the AC temp at hot position?
Excellent video and attention to detail. Thank you.
Please guide! If Engine coolant is little running out ,what are the causes or symptoms? what are its remedies?
If the fluid is not leaking then it's being burned off. Typically it's due to worn piston rings; which you can test via a compression test - ruclips.net/video/WUPcavBkckM/видео.html
You only removed 25 % of the fluid , the engine block is still full
And used the wrong coolant
Lots of conflicting comments on type of coolant to use and whether to use distilled water or not (not sure if pre-mixed uses distilled). I have a 2002 CR-V with 198K miles and live in a very hot climate (Las Vegas). What is your recommendation?
I've had no issues using Peak coolant but you could always go with genuine Honda Coolant.
Beverly Meteyer I live in Vegas too. I also own a Honda. What kind of fluid do you use?
Im pretty sure on a 2003 honda accord its coolant not bright green...its supposed to be pentfrost
How many liters of coolant we need for honda brv radiator?
honda coolant is blue and water on aluminum beads up and can leave hard water deposits on aluminum distilled water freaks me out even on hondas
I believe color of the coolant doesn’t matter. Here is the response I got from valvoline when amazon recommended red color to that of blue. "Zerex 675130 Engine Coolant/Antifreeze, 1. gallons is compatible with your Accord, although the color will be somewhat different than your OEM coolant. We also offer this same product with a blue dye, which can be seen here: www.amazon.com/Antifreeze-Coolant-Blue-gal-7-5/dp/B07MJY3VZ6/ref=sr_1_15?keywords=asian+coolant&qid=1576863031&sr=8-15"
Very cool. Thanks for posting. No issues using the Peak coolant as shown in vid.
I see you have to turn the heat dial all the way to the right but are you supposed to actually turn the heat on when you run the engine?
No need to. It's to allow fluid to entire the heater core.
Why didn't you drain the block? There is a lot of antifreeze left in the block after draining the radiator. You only did half the job, I think.
How do you drain the block? I cannot find any video or instructions.
Apparently there is a drain plug on the block above the oil filter. But after reading some comments, I did NOT attempt to open it. Too many comments about "the plug was seized" and they pulled the threads out of the block trying to remove it.
I just changed the coolant on a 2006 Civic for B15 service at 170 kmiles. I drained the block, per the service manual instructions. Yes, the drain bolt was very tight but not crazy. It cracked free with a good pull on a 24 inch 1/2 breaker bar. I had been dousing it with squirts of penetrating oil occasionally, for the prior week. It had never been removed as far as I know (the one prior coolant change was done by a dealer, i don't know if they did or did not drain the block, I suspect not). A good volume of coolant drained out of the block. I had a thread file on hand in case the drain plug needed restoration, but it didn't, was clean, and threaded back in just fine. I reinstalled it with a new washer, Permatex high temp thread sealant, and tightened to the torque spec'ed in the manual. No leaks.
Jim Trainor. After filling with new fluid, did you open the bleeder valve near the thermostat to help bleed the air out of the system ?
Do you always have to drain out the coolant? If just add it on top would something bad happen?
If the coolant is worn out then you'll need to drain. If the coolant is okay but it's low, then adding is fine.
If you're having to add coolant there is an issue. You can add the proper coolant to your car as long as it's PH Level is still good, but over time the coolant loses it's potency and becomes corrosive. Which is why Coolant should be drained and replaced at certain intervals.
I did not see him add any water ; He had said at the beginning it was going to bd a mixture of coolant and water. Just wondering.
+Mary Gamino Yep, you can buy premix or mix you own, and of course use distilled water.
+Mary Gamino Jar & woo are correct. The coolant was purchased pre-mixed with 50% coolant and 50% water.
Finally someone that knows what he is doing.
When turning on the car, the AC has to be on or off?
Off.
Thank you so so much
Your ac and your engine's cooling system are two separate systems.
Wrong. Use a special funnel that attaches to the radiator. You need to bleed the air out of the system. And use blue for Honda.
Yes, you can purchase the $30 funnel kit however it's not necessary. No issues after all these years using Peak.
It's called a petcock not drain valve
Maybe he felt uncomfortable saying petcock.
laugh out loud when you started your car here the whining of your power steering pump I just had to replace mine
Wrong coolant RIP Honda
STill going strong, Mr. Trump.
OOOPs did you just put in the wrong antifreeze???...
No issues with Peak but you can buy the Honda stuff if it worries you.
once every 10 years?....you're nuts! check your rad fluid once a year to make sure its still protecting your car.
Yes, 120k or 10 years is the replacement interval.
how long is it after you turn on the car that the fans both fans are supposed to kick on cuz I've been running it for about 15 minutes and nothing has kicked on?
10 years for Honda factory filled coolant on Honda car engine. Non Honda coolant have different good life.
Manual ssys...
Replace engine coolant
Use genuine Honda All Season Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2.
At 200,000 km (120,000 miles) or 10 years, then every
