Good info. And I've never heard radiator pronounced with the a like "bad" instead of the a like "air".

Flat "a" compared to a long "a." I heard a guy from Manhattan say it that way, which I found amusing.

@3:25: It reduces the coolant temperature? Maybe what you mean is that it increases the thermal conductivity of the coolant, such that by the time the coolant exits the radiator, it's cooler than it otherwise would be... but, when it exits the engine, it'll be the temperature of the engine whether you use the "booster" or not. The stuff isn't inherently endothermic.

If you installed an after market radiator in your Honda then "What is best for my Honda" really doesn't apply does it.

Hi mate, got a question for ya please. Just bought a beater honda jazz 2006, the car runs fine and heater works, but coolant is lower than MIN, so I went to auto store, gave them my car plate number and model/year, they sold me a bottle of pink coolant, while went home try to top up but found the coolant in tank is like green color. I believe the car has never had a coolant change. So can I mix them up please?

NO. According to Honda, you should only use their coolant (Type-2 BLUE) as described in the manual for your Civic. You can use other coolants for as long as your coolant is silicate free (and you Only use distilled water if you are doing the diluting) and you should be fine. What is Not recommended is mixing different coolants. It is easy to drain one coolant and fill with another and then keep adding that Same brand. There are various formulations of two main categories of coolant: OAT (organic rust inhibitors) and IAT (inorganic rust inhibitors). To ensure normal coolant life the new coolant should match the old coolant in terms of organic or inorganic rust inhibitors. This is because mixing the two inhibitors will render each Ineffective and will lead to premature rusting. Coolants with silicates should never be used in a Honda.
Also, if you bought your Honda car brand New and have no plans or won't sell it after 3 or more years Or just want to own it for long or for its lifetime, then use ONLY the Honda brand Coolant (Type-2 BLUE).
and even if you plan to sell it later, Honda OEM coolant is not that expensive, besides you only change Honda's coolant after every 5+ years.

I can understand different brands making the same part will be different, but 50-50 distilled water and ethylene glycol is the same regardless of brand.

The main differences are in the corrosion inhibitors (often proprietary) or other additives (e.g., silicates).

You cannot mix the colors between coolants otherwise it will turn into a slush and clog the hoses and other cooling compartments in the engine.
