Nice video, the peel and stick material is looks awesome, less back breaking for the roofers. Anything to make their lives easier, roofing is hard on the body as it is.
Agreed. We like to make our workers' lives easier with debris removal machines, ladder hoists to bring up material when possible, and back braces. A peel and stick base sheet is also better quality and the roof will last longer!
Lmao try it in Ontario and you’ll be out of business. We have a 4 million liability insurance so we can do that best type of flat roof which is torch down 180 FF base and torch to 250 TP cap and protect board and knowing and having a very experienced torcher flat roofer that knows all flat roof systems. You guys are a joke smearing on cement. Wait until ice amd snow sits and backs up finding the heat between the layers
@@royalrenovatorsinc.5663 NO you are not an experienced roofer at all
@@sevenhighclub2339 i agree, cold roofs are all garbage
This is a learning curve for me! These videos are very informative!
Thank you!
We appreciate your feedback! We'll make more if more people comment they like them!
In case of a fire, do they require no layovers.
When you have 4, 7, 9 layers of roof, it's impossible to cut through and creates a huge hazard
Greetings. What is the usual warranty and the price range cost for a new flat roof for a rowhouse? Anyone? Starting to research and dont want to get ripped off. It's not as if I can inspect the work once completed. The horror stories that I hear on the type of material used crazy...
Great question! To give very rough math, approximately $10,000. Flat roof warranties can vary, but on a residential house expect a labor and material warranty between 10-20 years! Given inflation, money savings of not needing further repair costs, and the increased resale value of the house - if you can afford it, especially with the peace of mind it comes with, do it!
I gave you a call and made an appointment, but you never showed up and I wasted my whole afternoon waiting for you guys to come!
This happens to every company but it's inexcusable. If you'd give us a second chance, our number is 718-414-6067
I was seriously considering these guys but now that I've seen your post and that they don't respect customers' times, I have to look elsewhere. : (
Your base needs adhesive,
"This happens..." Lame response.
If there are HVAC units on the roof, do these need to be moved at all? Would they potentially get damaged?
Does NYC not have OSHA? OMG I would not want you guys on my house. Nailing down the fiberboard? Why not mechanically attach with screws?
Great question, we love the challenging feedback! Fiberboard can be nailed down if a deck is wood, as per the manufacturer. By choice, you can screw it down as well. You can probably also screw and glue it down. The question becomes how far do you really need to go. We've found cap nails to be the perfect balance between going overboard and quality workmanship! And we have a very low warranty rate %, and so the proof is in the pudding!
Ya notice how he totally avoided the Saftey question
I hope you answer this question quick. I recently did a roof but contractor just painted silver. what can i do? what is the legal process?
If you mention legal process, you have to ask a lawyer. As a construction company, we're not licensed to give legal advice.
legal process for what?... there is nothing wrong with painting a roof silver... it's a big help long term actually
@@notimportant3686 It only extends the life of the old roof maybe 5 years. It's a cheap move, especially if the consumer was told he was getting a new roof.
Nice work
My bedroom has a flat roof. Always coldest room in the small house. Wall to outside has been insulated. Wanting to put up Bubble Foil on ceiling. Handyman said it will make it even colder. What do I do?
insulated windows
How about removing the roof, and installing some batt fiberglass (fluffy pink) insulation in between the beams. And then you can add 2-4" of polyiso insulation board in addition. That should give you very strong heat retention in your bedroom.
For once, a roof video that shows the right way to do a roof. Subscribed.
Thank you Papa. You have an eye for quality !
Nice work!
Hi, I need my flat roof replaced and the company that I’m going with offered to Install New Fully Adhered Epdm (Rubber) Membrane . I’m a single woman, don’t know the first thing about Roofs, I’m wondering if this is the best option for installing a new roof for my house. Please help.
Great question. EPDM is a reliable material option for flat roofs aka "low-sloping" roofs. However, solely based on this information, without seeing your exact roof's details, we wouldn't be able to answer if it is the best roofing material option. General advice would be to explore several estimates, with reliable companies that have good ratings online and with the BBB and local consumer affairs, and to ask their representatives the exact questions you have. A good roofing company will necessarily have estimators that leave you feeling comfortable, including providing adequate answers to your questions.
I'm currently a roof inspector and I would tell you personally I would never put an EPDM roof on any roof.
Is not reliable ordinable
@@jamesbowering8707 currently a roofing inspector, soon a cart pusher at wally world. You're just being stupid.
@@jamesbowering8707 I'm a licensed engineer that specs roofs. There's a building on Route 9 in Woodbridge NJ with a 40 year old EPDM roof. Done properly, EPDM is viable option.

Goodluck!
Hi I’m Mike I’m new to the roofing world my question is how do you know if the wood is rotten during inspection of the roof do you know after the roof is torn off or before?
The only way to know if the wood deck is rotted is after you Tearoff the old roof. You can spot holes in the deck, soft wood, etc. Some roofs look terrible but actually need no new plywood, some roofs look great and end up needing all new plywood.
To date, the only way to tell if the wood deck is rotted is to remove the old roof and inspect the deck!
When your foot goes through the plywood
Lol how the heck can you see if wood is rotten without tearing the top off?
@@miamisands3412from the underside most flat roofs you can see under side of deck unless drywall’s in way
Very educational; Love the attention to detail in the video.
Much appreciated! Attention to detail is everything in roofing
Nice job beardy
Thank you for the kind words :)
quick question I have a 16x22 1/4" pitch roof two exposed edges, what material do i use to cover it. I had grace for a long time and its now no good
Best thing you can do is contact our company and send us pictures - 718-414-6067 or Info@nycrenovators.com
You'll need a flat roof membrane because of the low pitch!
I have a roof that needs to be done its 22x56 how much will it cost?
I would say approximately $15,000. But that depends on the height of the building and a few other factors
You'll need to schedule an estimate! Call 718-414-6067 (Royal)
How much for material to do this particular roof???
@@darylbeyersdorf7932 Definitely talking a few thousand, with prices going up each year. So be proactive and fix your roof early!
Looks like great work
Thank you! Royal Renovators Inc
Thank you! We give 110%
Why use roll roofing with Modified bitumen adhesive. Why not torch down over the base sheet?
Torch down is not allowed in NYC.
In NYC you can only torch over a concrete or metal substrate. Whenever wood is the decking material, torch down is illegal as per the FDNY!
realmente muy buen trabajo chicos
100% ! Gracias Amigo
what is better app or sbs
SBS! It's more elastic and it doesn't crack! Also doesn't need to be painted with a silver coating so it's more maintenance free!
Venting on flat roofs?
Great question. It's property specific, but adequate ventilation is an important factor to consider!
Is roofing estimated by sqft?
Generally square footage forms the basis of pricing, then additional difficulty factors are added into cost such as height of building and any other complications on the roof.
Yes! That's the main pricing factor
@@seanl.levine5503 o
There are some other factors like insulation under playwood
Check playwood, replace roten spots
Hi, which insulation board and white granulated roof?
A roof is best insulated between the rafter beams with fiberglass insulation (the pink fluffy stuff) - it gets the most R-value aka heat retention. However, you can install for example a 1" or 2" polyiso insulation board over the wood deck before installing the roof. That will give you some insulation above the deck.
No need gold coped ?
Can you clarify the question Judy?
Roger to the dodger brosker losker.
Ayyyyyyyyyyyy! Roger that!
Perhaps the first and most important step should be implementing some rooftop safety, specifically fall protection! Definitely not an example to follow.
Thank you for the feedback, and we agree that site safety is absolutely crucial. While harnesses are used on pitched roofs, such as shingle roofs, this is a walkable flat roof. Nevertheless, in other ways fall risks are always taken into consideration with precautions taken.
Torch down roof with no torches 👍
Thank you for watching! The benefits of a torch down roof but with the safety of cold-process adhesives instead of fire!
Advertising a roof replacement with none of your men using no type of fall protection is a good way to get in trouble and I believe I heard you say a four story roof
Torch is always better.
sales pitch tp replace your roof not for do it yourself
Thank you for watching! But can't imagine replacing a roof like this by yourself! Hire a team! Professionals!
hi sir
Thank you for watching!
And not a single scaffold pole
Thank you for the feedback! Safety is important - we agree completely! On a flat roof, that has inside access, you do not need to scaffold the building. That would be an unnecessary expense for the property owner!
If you are telling lies about other torch down products being illegal how I can trust your company telling me anything true?
Great comment! Several viewers have commented the same thing! Under NYC law and FDNY code, you cannot torch down a roof if the existing deck is wood. Because it could burn down the building! But our cold-applied system using adhesives works - and we guarantee and warranty that!
Torch down roofing has been illegal in NYC for more than two decades.
That's a only good for 3 years in the north man you have torch it down here and I would hate to spread that much gum
Thanks for the feedback and comment! Torch down is illegal under NY's FDNY fire department guidelines when the roof's deck is wood. Therefore a cold applied system, using adhesives, is the legal way. It's also covered under company and manufacturers warranties!
@@royalrenovatorsinc.5663ah so thays the real reason because of insurance and warranties 😂
All Mexican crew.

these cold application roofs SUCK ASS.. i'm sorry... i just did one too and it felt like i was applying stickers to a roof (no it wasn't peel and stick, it was the same roof as in this video)
Thank you for watching! The FDNY made torch down illegal in NYC decades ago for safety. We've also replaced thousands of roofs and have few warranty calls. Based on that, they're doing their job!

@@royalrenovatorsinc.5663 that's why you put down an 1.5 inch layer of mineral wool insulation first, then torch on that.
@@tanelpolts7257 Can't do torch down in NYC, period.
@@Loonypapa well that's braindead.
As is not using PVC or some other thermoplastic in such case.
That's plastic cement you're using as a bonding agent, complete garbage never fully sets, that's why it's used in situations where flexibility is nessarey, you fint want soft squish under your ply with guys and tools all over it. Also you apply plastic cement with a notch trowle so you get the manufacturers recommend amount, not a limply inconsistent mess.
Stay away from this company
