This vehicle will easily turn heads...it's a beautifully designed Convertible and would be utilized a lot here in Florida. (Sunshine State)
I agree. A lot of people seem to hate it, but I would definitely buy this if I live somewhere tropical such as Florida. It's basically a Porsche but without worrying about scratching it when you hit a pothole :)
I don't understand all the negative comments on this car. It's stunningly designed and looks fantastic - especially is the grey. Small, classy 4x4 convertible with four full size seats is great idea - and it deserves to be a success for Land Rover. My prediction is that all luxury brands will follow suit over the coming years.

There are actually a fair amount of SUVs with, well not exactly convertibles, but with removable rooves. Defender, wrangler, and the hummer have all come in this configuration, so it's not like it's that strange a layout, but the top typically isn't that simple to remove or replace.
The Evoke remains an odd ball in many ways to me. That trunk opening still looks rather unfortunate, so to speak.
Not really related, but it's hot enough where I live that in the summer, cloth seats aren't cool enough on their own and the seat venting really becomes very desirable.

Looking in the history books an old Land Cruiser, Willy's or Wrangler, DC100 and also Geländewagen, the Evogue convertible isn't a controversial concept. All of them ham a 3-door version with roll bars and fabric roof so this one had to come.

Hi Thomas, big fan! I had to reply to you about the reason why cloth seats are not practical for a convertible. I have owned 4 convertibles including a BMW E30, Audi S4 and Triumph Spitfire ('79) If you ever get caught in the rain even for a few seconds, water soaks in less into leather than cloth. You can easily wipe off water on leather, especially if you have a good layer of conditioner on it! It doesn't saturate are fast or as much compared to cloth. I know because it took weeks for my cloth seats to dry in my Triumph after getting caught in a rain storm. Leather is also more durable and easier to keep clean over cloth. Beside, a Range Rover with cloth seats? What would the Queen say? :-)
Faux leather could be a solution then. I know what you mean. But I would never tell a cow "Sorry I need your skin in case of rain in my convertible" :)
As for the queen, if you investigate that thoroughly, in the past royal sedans, only the driver seat had leather (for more durability), but all passenger seats always had cloth for better royal comfort! True story.

I love this type of "weird" cars... Its something new and kind of risk for car manufactures ... but i really hate wide screen mounted horizontaly. in navigation you can clearly see everything by side but not what is on the front. It seems reasonable to mount display vertically for me

I think this will be a car that sells well, but Land Rover will not make a new version when it becomes out dated.
They will,cuz they are owned by TATA group and they have money..they funded all new range rovers,f type etc

I don't think cloth seats would stand against the elements I know it's been done before but not in this premium way

It Is great that automakers are increasingly taking risks to fill new niche markets with this kind of vehicles. No doubt Range will surpass the expected sales with the evoque convertible.
At least here in Germany they have sold about 500 units to people who did not drive the car before. We are very interested in how far these numbers will develop after the launch this year.

A really special car in my opinion. I would not buy it, because its just not my taste, but for some people this might be the perfect car. I would rather go for a 'real' SUV, ex. the normal evoque or the Ranger Rover sport in combination with something like a Porsche Boxster/Audi TT cabrio/Mazda MX5/ BMW Z4/ Mercedes SLC. A SUV for the real work and a cabrio for the fun stuff :) And I really enjoyed the video Thomas.
This car will more than likely join the Nissan Murano in obscurity!

Thomas, how bad was the scuttle shake? The stance of the car is so mean; it's crying for a bigger engine. Alcantara everything, blue, and the engine from the Rangie SVR.

Faux leather would be just as bad as vinyl. Hot and sticky. Perforated leather or cloth is more comfortable in the hot sun. I live in California so it's sunny here 95% of the time.
