    200 bucks for a handmade American knife is already a steal, getting a collectible at that price is pretty crazy.

    Why do you prefer s45vn over magnacut for pocket knife? Also I would love to see you test Quiet carry knives for corrosion resistance! And maybe, just maybe one day would love to see a corrosion resistance test on Chris reeves knife! I know for a fact if you find a fault in CRK, Tim would solve that issue.

      To be honest, even S30V is better than MagnaCut when the latter is treated to anything below 62 HRC. Edge retention is more important to me personally than toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening combined. And, as you know, very few manufacturers actually treat MC above 63. Quiet carry seems like a good knife, I should probably add it to the lineup. Are they US-made? The website is cryptic about it.

      @@CuttingBoardRx Great response, completely agree. Quiet carry is a company owned by a single guy in Cali who designs his own knives but they are made in Taiwan. They claim ocean tested knives especially since they use Vanax for blade and LC200n for hardware and scales are titanium. I would love for you to test it out and the owner is pretty cool, frequently makes changes to his designs if enough people demand it.

    PLEASE continue the hardness testing! Especially with more common to middle of the road in value knives.... Hell, even high end if you can afford it! I'd love to see HRC testing on the newer Ritter Hogues, demco 20.5 in 20cv, literally any of the Chaves kickstop, cold steel, kizer.... I could go on and on.

    Great collection! S45vn is also my favorite edc steel. Tough, stainless, and good edge retention. I would love to get my hands on a Terrain 365 folder with terravantium. My user grails/top 5 most carried, are the large 31 (micarta/s45), the large plain inkosi (s45), the hinderer firetac (burlap,20cv), project x (s45), and the Kirby Lambert Raine v3 (burlap, s90v) thanks!

    Great collection indeed. Those knives are unobtanium items for me, if one day I will be able to buy an high end knife, I will choose the Umnumzaan.
    I have a request. After a quick research on your channel, I didn't find any video about a comparison on cutting performance between full flat and full serrated edges.
    I'd love to see a comparison between the two edges made with your rigorous methods.
    Thanks!.

    No hrc test on sebenza?

    • @CuttingBoardRx
      @CuttingBoardRx  Месяц назад +10

      I could do that. I actually have MagnaCut on both large and one small Sebenza and on the Umnamzaan, for which I have 2 blades, since I broke one and bought a second blade. So I could test 5 CRK MagnaCut blades in one video. Does anyone think it’s a good idea? That would be like $2,800 worth of CRK test

    • @Melkorify
      @Melkorify Месяц назад

      @@CuttingBoardRx i certainly do. CRK will be getting a very strongly worded email and a return from me perhaps if i find out their hrc ain't within advertised range.

      @TerminalM193 Месяц назад

      @@CuttingBoardRxMan, that's very hard to give the go ahead for, especially since a fraction of your audience even owns a crk. Maybe pick your least favorite crk for a HRC test.... On another note I'd like to see if spyderco is actually holding the estimated range of HRC that they claim and are worshiped for.... I believe my para2 s45vn, manix 2 s30v are both softer than claimed.

I'm not a big fixed blade person, but I think you paid a very good price for that Mike Irey. Have you considered any of the Grimsmo knives? I like them but cannot justify spending over a thousand dollars. Also, have you seen or held the North Arm Skaha? Those knives are fantastic. Thank you for this video.
