Thank you for the video. Too many other options out there in this size range. I’m most disappointed in the lack of customer service/response from Bradford. I remember Mr. Medford’s response to your video. I’m sure I don’t know all that was said but he took responsibility and used the video as a training exercise to keep it from happening again. Nothing is ever perfect, just own up to the issue and try to fix it. Ignoring it doesn’t sit well with me. Happy New Year and keep up the good work…the knife community needs you.
They changed the description on their website and pulled the knives back.
@ that’s really good to hear. Sounds like it was a great project, they just have to do a little work on their side. I hope they can get it worked out and back on the market. I’m a huge supporter of American made knife companies like Bradford. I wish them all well…glad to hear Bradford took responsibility and hope it works out. Thank you for the follow up. Have a great weekend sir.
@ Respectfully, taking responsibility would look a lot like a video explaining the situation and an offer to recall the knives that are not as advertised. I wish any small business best of luck, my mom and dad ran a jewelry store for 24 years so I fully understand what implications doing the right thing can have. But to be honest, I was planning on keeping the knife even if such offer was made. And so would 50% of others who bought it. JMHO

@ ok. Just got mines in the mail. Seems like the knife holder has zero play. Maybe they fixed it. The top part where you put the zip tie does still have play though. I’ll look into the bushings. Thanks
@ Read the pinned comment before you buy bushings
Excellent review. Lots of hype, YOU ARE BUYING HYPE, got mine and was warm and some what wind resistant, very very comfortable and easy to move in, lots of pockets and very well done as they don't allow things to fall out, no visor as shown in a lot of pop up ads and it alone is not water resistant , the zippers are better than most. Biggest concern, what chemicals are being applied in China, where they appear to be made. Let me explain, the hoodie smelled and we washed it according to directions and hung up to dry and it drys very fast which was impressive, but now its not so warm and wind resistant, so what are they coating this hoodie with and is it safe? I also have the rain cover and it also works very well and remains one of the most comfortable jackets that I have ever worn only next to my old Canadian airforce jacket, over all it is too expensive for what you get in my opinion, I could be wrong, we will see how long it lasts.
I hear you, Sir! Canadian Air Force - respect! I am friends with a former Blue Angels CMO (he’s actually Canadian-born) He had some choice expressions to describe the cold (like “my nips were longer than my d..c). Try TacVasen fleece though, I just got one before Xmass for $45 US, it’s much denser weave than Hoodie 4. It took 2 business days to receive it and I have been very pleased. Here’s the link: amzn.to/40k23ob Do they have Prime in Canada? You can always return it and call me a liar if you don’t absolutely love it.
I’m expecting it to bend or break. Are you using the gage with the recommended force provided by CJRB? Or are you looking to create the tree of doom. I am wondering why you chose 3 ft pounds. Why at 5 “ ? Does that tip look burnt 5:03? I love my work pro tool. It’s blue in color. The access lock on any knife that has it usually never fails. Unless everything around the lock breaks.
I’ve only bought 2 over the years and I don’t like either. ArRPM9 should it be ArRPM7 what do you think.?
@@MrCaissed On the one hand, they cheated with naming the steel. That’s bad… On the other hand, the edge retention was above my expectations. That’s good.
first thing I saw when I looked at it today was I knew that jimping was a super weak point and it runs the whole length of the blade, plus the sheath is horrible. If you have handled knives a while you can feel the index cut out is way to high compared to the belly (although for some knife geeks it will look cool) but I found that you had to exert way more than normal force to really lock that indexx finger in tight and thats a problem. Its a great looking knife and the actual blade shape is really conducive to every day tasks but it is over priced especially with that sheath, not even a pocket clip, and I have a bunch of the newest benchmades so I am not a benchmade hater.
Just got my Acacia in today, and it is everything I hoped it would be. My only tiny complaint would be is that the detent on the crossbar is a bit stronger than I'm used to. But the reverse flick is great and even makes a "ting" sound when it hits just right. It will be the perfect companion to my Pyrite lite. I didn't have any of the QC issues you mentioned, and the knife came screaming sharp from the factory. I guess I got a good one.
I think what you mean by detent being to strong is actually how hard it is to open the blade. The detent is one of the weakest I’ve seen on a cross bar locks. And I have 2 of them in hand to compare. As for the edge, take a 10x magnifying glass and check out the butchered up stropping home some goon inflicted on that apex! Cringing… Other than these two things, it’s a great knife!
I watched a few of you're videos, you seem to be very fair and unbiased. You take testing seriously and obviously very knowledgeable😊👍

If you are paying hundreds of dollars for a button lock, then sure I can understand you expect them to have a very sturdy button lock. On the contrary if your button lock is under 70 dollars with a good steel and heat treatment, then you shouldn't expect a very sturdy lock.
Bought the pyrite, and the ekko, and after finding out the truth from larin thomas about the spray form 9cr I lost interest in arrpm9 steel, and set my minimum standards for knife buying at reputable companies 14c28n steel. I wish they would bring back listing hrc specs on the sellers websites, but that would also mean we would have to trust what they list without actually testing the hrc at home which most people can't afford the equipment to do so. That's why channels like yours are greatly appreciated! 👏 ,and your video of tips ,and tricks for the worksharp professional percision adjust was a wealth of knowledge. Unfortunately I bought the bronze bushings before it arrived only to realize after that they changed the stone holder that didn't allow for disassembly, and modification. Strange thing to wish I got the older one lol.,but again thanks for your very detailed videos!
@@thomasrobarts2399 Thanks for the nice comment and for subscribing! Please be advised, I tested a budget Amazon brand of knives - Fintiso - that has 14C28N on all their blades. They have two manufacturers, I suspect WE and Kizer or Bestech but can’t be sure. The push button knives have blades at 59-61 HRC (susp. WE) while the liner locks have 56-58 HRC (the other OEM) And then some button locks have dual stop pin and others a single one. On the other topic: I will try to buy the WSPPA carrier and see what can be done.
North Mountain Blade Chop 2. Best button lock on the market
All your knives hate Tod with a passion 😳 Tod = Tree Of Doom lol Great video sir ✌️😎
This is incredibly important information. I was really hoping this light would be the one.
I mainly carry small fixies but I do use an otf pretty regularly but the blade play is annoying so they just get light use. With zero blade play I'd use an otf a lot more. Hopefully they come out with a wharncliffe blade, the tanto and dagger are nice but not best for utility use.
I tend to not flick my knives open or closed, to keep lockup tight and prevent the denting you noticed.
That difference could be the result of something as simple as a drop of water that was left on your wooden table and it caused the grain in the wood to raise. In other words it’s insignificant.
Like many, I have found myself having purchased a variety of different fixed angle syatems. With the stone holders slider rods from 6mm to 8mm I have found that small Binder Clamps work great as stops to limit the rods travel. Just squeeze open slightly, slide to desired position and release.
This hurts to watch
Great testing. Gave you a sub.

This issue has been fixed by Microtech and any model of Ram Loc knife dated 05/2024 will have a redesigned lock. Unfortunately, these are not reversely compatible with knives dating 03/2024 or earlier. Knives released in 04/2024 could have either system.

Recently a subscribed to channel and I’ve learned an awful awful lot so thank you. You bring up a lot of great points. Ian bench Mead is kind of off the chat lately, their knives, especially in their fixed bleed, Knife lines like Brief or white river or actually superior in their functionality and their medical qualities that are much more reasonably priced and even on the Kydex and everything else when they on the fixed plates of faucet. So I think Reef sent a lot of knives out before they came up with any of their knives and White River just time test and they really took a lot of input from people who use the knives and I think unfortunately most manufacturers now don’t actually survey a good population across the people who are actually using the knife and allotted a lot of test on the reef in the white river have been un had use almost considered abused test and the knives of confluent flying colors. Dutch Bushcraft knives is pretty one of them and Joe X another that really really put knives through the piecesand they kind of give you an idea of what you can expect for what you’re paying but great job on the reviews thank you
Thank you for a great video. Clearly, a lot of work! Can you please post a link on how you put the paracord on the Benchmade? Thank you.

Maybe cut Outdoors55 some slack about removing the coating. Yes, knife enthusiasts understand that the coating is a different HRC than the blade itself. However, there will be some percentage of viewers who are not knife enthusiasts per se but may be looking for information about a specific knife before or just after purchase. Finding a thorough test about a specific knife, or even about a specific knife steel or even a specific knife steel from/via a specific knife maker (such as 14c28n from Civivi with their heat treatment) is not only valuable information but it a typical gateway for new knife enthusiasts to get into all this. That's exactly how I started. I saw a knife I liked but it had a blade steel I didn't know anything about. Searching that led me to all this and to getting into this community. If information is excluded because "everybody already knows that, bro", it gatekeeps all of this and is hostile to newcomers.

Great Video! I have the Pro-Tech PT auto Strider in Magnacut. nice to know they got the HRC right. I have both the coated and plain versions. Thank you again! 😎👍
It's good that you're making a video about this, that's for sure! Also, I have no idea how far the store is from where you live. But to protect myself, I didn't sharpen anything on the knife and returned the knives to where they came from and asked for my money back. But this kind of thing doesn't only happen at Medford. I speak from personal experience that this kind of thing also happens at Rick Hinderer Knives. I had purchased an XM-18 3.5", recurve in OD Green G10 online from Lamnia in Finland. After I received the knife it turned out that a facet edge on the top of the blade was not ground parallel. I returned the knife back to lamnia with the request not to resell the knife but to return the knife to Rick Hinderer Knives. They did not do so, they simply put the knife up for sale online again and resold it! I also sent Rick Hinderer Knives an e-mail and indicated that I had purchased a knife from them via Lamnia and that I had returned it to Lamnia because of the problem described above. Rick Hinderer Knives never responded to the situation. Lamnia should have returned the knife to Rick Hinderer Knives and Rick Hinderer should have contacted Lamnia to resolve the problem. Both Lamnia and Rick Hinderer Knives were at fault!
Love the tree of doom

Don’t know about that, but I think they have some of the best micarta in the business.
Life is too short for 57HRC... Some times you get what you pay for. Thanks for the video! 😎👍
I was immediately impressed with my CJRB Knife Center exclusive pyrite in AR-RPM-9 blade steel and titanium bolsters with micarta scales. The AR RPM-9 blade steel has been excellent with high edge holding and good toughness and corrosion has not been an issue at all. However 2 subsequent knives in the same steel have not shown the same performance. Im still undecided on it.
I would guess that the ease of assembly would also lower manufacturing/assembly costs. Hence the competitive pricing.
Wouldn't be the first time microtech has been untruthful. Anyone remember their bullpup rifle and it's magazines? Screwed quite a few people before they scrapped that business.
It's so bad. I've had two different models in AR-RPM9 and it's awful
DCA is not a Knife Reviewed, he is a knife salesman. He doesn’t really give his thoughts on a knife, he just shows the properties of each knife. I am a fan of his videos also.
AR-RPM9 steel is my favorite budget steel. I think of it like 14C with a little better edge retention. It sharpens super sharp and the burr is easily removed. Buy with confidence.
