This is the only video that made any sense. Most are sitting on a bench in a factory that has no application in real life. good job.

I appreciate this video. I DID fix my problem with my cable coming off using it. Just a small issue with it. Step 2 is totally accurate with springs without tension applied to them. New, great, a fix situation, not so much. I used my bar against the ceiling at first, to be able to loosen the spring set screws. I wound my cables on both sides, then proceeded to step 2. In order to do it, I reversed the order of the video until the tension was gone. Then I did step 2. Then I slapped my head, said "duh" and determined step 2 was ALREADY done if the spring was under original tension. Just had to pull the bar down to gain back the amount of tension I'd lost, then tighten the set screws. If my logic is wrong, someone please LMK. Also, a 7/16 twelve point socket works for those 3/8 square set screws in a pinch.

The tension springs are the same for garage doors and trailer tailgate?

  • @TheHiddenBooger47

Is turning the spring down tightening it or does it loosen it ? I'm assuming when the door opens it tightens the spring, is this correct ?

I notice you have 2 springs on your door. My trailer only came with one. The trailer is 3 years old and I am having issues with the door. It was becoming increasingly hard to open so the trailer company adjusted the spring but now it's hard to close, ie; too heavy. Could the spring be bad or should I have had 2 springs? It's a 20 foot enclosed trailer with ramp like yours.

This could be the result of a few issues, but the most common would be the amount of turns on the spring (you need enough tension). A double spring setup would also help, but as your trailer only came with one, that should suffice.
