    Does nobody remember the part in the OG video on the bus where I said we were going to get another enclosed trailer? 😂 I meant to put it in this video just to prevent the “you can’t make up your mind” comments.
    It’s just one of those things. You learn as you go and experience things. Goosenecks for example. I said I would never own a non gooseneck enclosed. But then we broke down with a gooseneck and couldn’t find a truck anywhere to rent that could tow it. Lesson learned.
    Also for all the “there’s no drifting anymore comments” well there would be if people would watch the videos. But nobody watches them. So I just go drive and don’t film it. I just film the big events and comps and even then.

    Honestly, I feel like this is a chase for “right tool for the job “. Which is kind of interesting from a channel that prides itself on making the right tool for the job… But I suppose, some things are hidden/obscured when expectation isn’t quite meeting reality.

    • @Taylordrifts
      @Taylordrifts  Год назад +16

      It takes trying things to truly learn what works. The ford with the old trailer was a great setup. We ran it for a long time. But I hated having a truck payment and when it failed and we had the first hand experience of that whole process with a newer truck. I decided to get back into something I own outright. We also learned that with a gooseneck. If you break down. You’re kinda screwed because it’s very hard to rent a truck that’ll tow a gooseneck. It’s about evolving and changing from what you learn along the way. I got my old trailer and built it out around my miata and what I would bring to the event with it. Which doesn’t quite equate to the vettes program. Etc etc.

    I would highly recommend looking into putting the carpet 3' up the walls at the bottom. It will help keep the trailer looking much nicer over time and add a very nice aesthetic. I would also highly recommend wrapping the outside of the trailer. Even if its a solid color like whats there, it will protect the finish of the aluminum from the UV rays and minor scratches as well as keep it nicer looking for resale value.

But I am seeing it in a logical sense of using both equipments and a backup plan. As you stated, you got the trailer to be able to still go to events whilst repairing the bus and can still use the combo after you fix the bus. You're thinking logically and realistically.

    Sounds to me the beginning of the end of the bus. Knowing what it costs to maintain a large bus/RV, spending over 30k on a trailer does not look good for the future of the bus. I pull an 18’ car hauler behind a 44’ RV giving a total length of 65’ and it’s Looong. Maneuvering is a challenge. Now towing a 28’ race trailer behind a 45’ bus giving a total 80’ will be a nightmare to maneuver. As experienced as I am driving my rig, I would not want to do that kind of length.

    I can actually relate to what I think the real 'issue' is. When your job or your hobby revolves around working on a vehicle, the last thing you want to do it work on a 'tool'. And that is what your transporter is .. a tool. Time spent working on the bus, or the truck, or an old trailer is time NOT spent working on your race car. When I ran my circle track car, I just wanted to load and go. I hated if I had to work on the truck or trailer.

    I'm getting ready to order myself my first ever brand new trailer in the next few months as well. Going to be used for camping and any utility around the house. That IT trailer was built 10 mins from my house. Southwest welding the company I work/deliver steel for makes a few parts that might be on that trailer. Small world. I live in indiana!

    I've bought three brand new trailers, two enclosed, and one dump trailer. Had a deer take out the first enclosed trailer, it's replacement is a couple years old now and it definitely sucks when the inevitable happens and you get dings and dents in it, but it's part of it. I'm on construction sites so it's far more likely to happen for me. Hopefully you can keep it new for a long time.

    Take a look at the vinyl flap doors for the side door. I got mine at Jegs and they are Pit Pal brand. I run the AC with the rear ramp closed and the side door open and the flaps are tinted transparent and keep the cold air in and you can see what’s going on outside.

    With r2 handy, could you fabricate a tyre/wheel rack that you load into the bed of the truck. That way you could mount and load up the rack in the shop and before you leave, fork it into the bed for transport to the events. Get home, unload and have it near the tyre machine ready to be prepped for next time

    only one improvement i would do to the new trailer would be a entire side awning on the side with the door. Other then that I'm loving the new trailer! congrats!

    Congrats on the new unit, would love to see that behind the bus one day! I’m not sure if you can do it but can you clear vinyl wrap the trailer to prevent rock chips and scratch marks and maybe even the inside too? Not sure if that would help with the resale value of the trailer and protect your investment

      @jasonnelson2744 Год назад +1

      Clear wrap would help resale if removed wrap and the paint underneath had no scratches. On the inside having carpet on the bottom 3' is a nice way to keep the inside nice.

    Nice rig T-Ray although I'm curious if you'll be adding an awning to the new trailer. I could see that it would add more cover when you're working on the Vette at the track. I know you have some serious upgrades coming to the trailer and looking forward to more vids. Cheers!
