Everybody uses tires, from single moms, to teens in college, to oil rig workers My grandpa, dad, & uncle run their own tire shop and I'd kill to have a mobile van set up like that😱
Just checked out his web site and he is all over Australia. He ended up declining the two sharks to keep 100% of the business saying the enquiries broke his website after the show.
Yes, throw your opinions on the 40 million net worth person. It's true though, she's not the wealthiest in the tank, she comes second after John. Therefore, i saw her only jump in deals were EVERY shark is in. That said, i'm out.
I love how these sharks allow them to listen to the other offers but on the American shark tank they’re like “I gave you a offer if you don’t accept it I’m out”
I think that has something to do with how American investors are. A lot of it, "I am handing out my money to make money. You need this money, take it. Or we are done" there's not a lot of leeway with it. They don't want to give out a nice offer only to be told no.
I think the way the business owners present it is always important. This guys ‘out of respect for the other sharks i’d like to hear what they have to say’ is a good way of putting it because it doesn’t make you seem ungrateful for their offer. Saying ‘thanks for the offer but i’d like to hear what everyone else has to say’ makes you seem like you want a better deal but are hanging onto that one in case nobody else offers anything better. Turns the shark into a lifeline rather than an offer they actually want, which isn’t a good idea.
I agree and yet every time Janine drops out. She needs to be replaced on this show. She never invests unless she throws out an absolutely ridiculously greedy offer and someone is stupid enough to fall for it. Replace her with another woman who is willing to invest fairly.
Sometimes I feel the sharks just invest in rubbish but their massive contact book helps them drive it further. Or, they say stupid stuff like that even though its a massive business. When you invest, you want money, and sometimes you want money and have an huge interest in it.
It's a common joke in the tyre industry, the mechanic ask the customer "What size are your tyres?" and 90% of the time the customer will say "I don't know?" and the mechanic replies with "Are they black and round?"

Business isn't about feelings. Also, the guy was offering up HUGE flaws without being asked to. She saved his ass, because he himself was about to kill the deal out of desperation.
She did have a bit of a point. He already had them interested and seeing he had a good business model so the more he listed things he could or did need help in the more it could turn them off from the idea since he is the main owner at that point.
This hit me hard! I actually have an appointment for Discount Tires to replace my tires this Saturday at 8 am. I would use this service in a heartbeat!
In Austria and Germany we just join an automobile association (ÖAMTC in Austria for example) where you pay 88€ per year (or an additional 47€ if you want to cover the EU plus all Mediterranean tourist countries). It can save you tons of nerves and money when things go pear shaped.
Dam great business model. He created it and was desperate as he knew big tire brands could steal the idea. He just needs a quick boost to get this out there against the big players. Hope they leave him alone to be successful
Tyres - a 100% necessary completely consumable item to single man and woman who drives a car Janine - got rich selling ridiculously over priced juices and smoothies to young people. Solid logic.
Great deal. I understand the concern of other retailers maybe trying to stop a mobile business but to suggest that they will crush you isn't logical. Dominos isn't the only pizza chain that delivers.
I’ve used this very service when in Perth WA Last month (2021) And they were bloody fantastic! You try to imagine my situation where I need to change all 6 x tyres including spare ones on our caravan. It’s just about impossible to drive in in most places with a caravan to change tyres. So I called this mobile tyre service ( showing here on this video) and from the time of my phone call to the van arriving to do the service it was just excellent service and the price was very competitive! I paid at the completion of the job.All new tyres fitted and balanced ant the old ones taken away. I highly recommend them!
These are getting bigger over here in the US and he is right that the big commercial brick and mortar stores don’t want to do the mobile thing.... good on him👍🏻
He made a brilliant point about the public perception of tire shops and the way female customers will respond. Big tire brands with their own corporate shops often feel like a pressurey (ha) environment where customers, especially lots of female ones, are concerned about being upsold, either in a predatory way or even if the recommendations are since it can still be annoying to deal with. A mobile business, where by nature you're not waiting around for hours and they can't be like "oh no your control arm bushing spring link is corroded, we have to redo your whole suspension" or something ... That just feels safer and less exhausting for a lot of people to engage with. I think that's the main differentiator between his brand and any mobile offering a big tire shop brand might put out.
I'm pretty sure that most of the tyre shops are franchises anyway. They would be violating their franchising agreement by infringing on the existing territories. Unless they just provided each franchise with their own van. I don't really believe they would tho as corp usually is short sighted and wouldn't provide vans without the franchise people fronting the cash, which would take time
I always say the same bullshit "somebody with more money could do what you're doing but bigger". But it rarely works like that. If you're the first to market you have a serious competitive advantage, and second the bigger guys entering a new market tends to expand the overall size of that market not eat market share from another founding company. Take Tesla for example, constantly told EVs don't work and if it does the bigger guys will step in and take all the relatively small EV market share. But as we saw, something needs to work really well for years before big players start actually paying attention which means you'll be far ahead and when the bigger players finally released their products it didn't eat into Teslas sales it expanded the overall size of the market.
I know right! They underestimate the power of being the first into market. But they're also right on having as many as capital to speed the business up. Being the first also has pretty high risk from being coppied by the copycats. Especially products easily manufactured.
exactly also because you are small you are much less flexible, he's building from scratch around that idea a huge business already might be more difficult.
@@andikelana1364 I'm telling you people rarely copy start ups, they copy success stories. Take Snapchat as another example. Copying social media features is probably the easiest to do and implement for a big company. FB didn't for ~2years as Snap was wildly popular and kept growing. Then they tried to buy it still didn't copy right away, only after they were denied the right to buy and waited did they finally copy them and add stories, YT took another year or so after that to finally add stories. Even with something that's as easy to copy as a SM feature Snapchat went 4 years and saw massive success before being copied.
I’m watching from US and watched a lot of US Shark Tank before I knew there was an Australian version.. that being said Ive come to like the Australian version better something about the people they seem much more genuine and real and I just get a more happy feeling watching this one.
The interesting thing between Australian Shark Tank, British Dragon's Den and USA Shark tank is on the Australian and British versions the entrepreneur gets to hear all offers. In the USA a shark like Mark Cuban can put a clock on the offer or indicate they aren't allowed to hear other offers. In Australia and the UK that would likely appear unfair to audiences and so the producers require that all offers that the sharks are willing to make are in fact made.
Shark Tank USA: “Here’s my deal Johnny” Johnny: “Thank you for the offer! Let me hear from the other sharks out of respect” Shark Tank USA: “did you say... OTHER ... DEALS? IM OUT BITCH” Shark Tank Australia: “Sure mate hear out the other deals so you can make the best decision “ Anyone else agree lol?
I'd love to own a franchise of these here in Oregon, we have two major tire companies run a monopoly against the smaller guy and only cater to truckers and farmers mobily at extreme prices. The winter runs when it snows are phenominal catostophic ridiculousness that could easily be raided by the mobile man. Same way with property here in the Columbia Gorge, the fat cats make out and the regular folks suffer price gouging as a rule.
The major flaw in this, and which was not covered, is the suppply of the tyres. The variety of product is huge and would require a large central warehouse or at least a contract with the manufacturers. The risk of existing tyre businesses cutting off his supply is huge.

I love this idea. I change my own tires, but my mother is 70 years old and 4'11". She can't change her own tire, and she has to drive through high crime areas in the dark. I love this idea. I change my own tires, but my mother is 70 years old and 4'11". She can't change her own tire, and she has to drive through high crime areas in the dark. I got her a can of fix-a-flat, which tire shops hate because it's more time consuming and expensive to clean out, but if it can get her out of a bad situation in 2 minutes, it's worth it. You can get a flat tire on the first day you buy a car. Nails don't care how new your tires are (especially around construction sites).
Lube Mobile already covers what this guy has, been around for many years
Giving his business card to each Shark... that guy understands how marketing should be. He'll have great success.
6:00 so she wants blue and squarr tyres to invest?
I really like this tire guy. He knows his stuff.
I can’t get passionate about tires. “They’re Black, they’re round”
Coulda worded it better 😂
Tyres - a 100% necessary completely consumable item to single man and woman who drives a car
Janine - got rich selling ridiculously over priced juices and smoothies to young people.
Solid logic.
Oh lord. I remember this. I knew the "dial a tyre" kingpin of 1980s Adelaide. He followed the "dial a pizza" model of the era and it didn't last into the 1990s. There are no barriers to entry and nothing you can protect except a brand.
When you're totally out of reasons you might consider colors!
Hahaa ...so dumb of her I would say !
One of the best pitches
TwO HuNDrEd ThOUsaND iS ToO mUcH!
Net worth: 200 million
Love this dude he was very smart and had lots of answers. Plus the sharks on the aus show are way less rude.
“I can’t get passionate about tyres”. What a dumb thing to say. Can you get passionate about money? That’s what it’s all about!
"Money? It's just paper, I can't get passionate about paper."

a business pitch that makes perfect sense to me. I like this guy.
Didn't know that Scott Morison is in the tire industry now.
Love this comment
I would definitely use this service! I didn't even know something like this existed lol.
Naomi is still wearing the same red dress, therefore I'm out.
Can you imagine that i am following from Marrakesh Morocco...great evening australia
Salam alei’kum
Bit silly to say What about if one of the major Tyre places copy’s it? Isn’t that the same with every product ever invented 🙄
Not ones with a patient! That’s the point. You need to have a large barrier to entry (also known as a wide moat) for it to be worthwhile to an investor.
Very well prepared. Good pitch!!
All this time, and they’re still spelling “tire” wrong. Someone should tell them.
Tire as in he tires easy tyre is a car tyre
the best pitch ive seen and ive watched alot
I wear a red dress so I'm out
