It actually does, but not as simply. Rocketlawyer for example provides such forms for $40/month. I'm guessing the Hello Prenup will be a lot more hand holding and provide useful suggestions/subjects to go through that are not as plain vanilla.
There are a few questions about this service that I see presenting problems in the future. For one thing, if a couple uses a lawyer for a prenup, they usually don't use the same one because their interests are bound to conflict. If they each have independent counsel, the agreement will be much more likely to hold up in court. How are each of the couple's rights protected when they use the same program? Also, some states limit what can be included in a prenup, so the program would have to be state-specific to include those limitations. Is it? Finally, how do they ensure that both of the potential spouses are agreeing to the prenup? Lawyers act as witnesses to the signing, or some even video the signing. If the couple later divorces, video documentation of the signing could be used to prove that the agreement was not entered into under duress. The presence of witnesses and/or a notary can also be used to ensure that the agreement will hold up in a court. Maybe these issues are addressed by the program, but if not, I would be careful about using it. You never know what will happen in future.
That's what I was thinking. The potential for abuse and coercion are definitely here. I know of a case of a mentally challenged man that a woman tried to get him to agree to sign over all his trust fund to her in a prenup. Fortunately the lawyer caught it because the man was not competent to sign. And I've worked in the estate planning field so I know what disasters can come from using software and templates on your own.
If only they could consult with a divorce attorney to make sure they don’t make any potential mistakes like that 🤔. /s (you raise valid points but hopefully that was all considered into it especially if she’s a lawyer)
Actually I just researched this product a bit more and there is an option to have a local attorney review your final product. That may eliminate alot of these issues.
I suppose the fact both parties are participating in the same program means they are actually empowering their own self interests as a family rather than that of money grabbing lawyers and the broken system they've created with divorce laws. So the terms set in the agreement is actually more accurately representative of the people signing it, and transfers more responsibility to the people getting married/signing the contracts. If hello prenup is successful, it might indicate people are actually valuing themselves more than they used to.
Mark’s little chuckle after “the happy couple comes together to resolve any differences in their answers” had me dying. 😂 Like he was thinking “yeah, good luck with that…”
Props to mark cause even when he sees the potential of a business he’s willing to let a more experienced shark in that field to come in if he thinks It’s best for the entrepreneurs
A someone who has worked in the field of estate planning I have seen the absolute disasters that occur when people have used software to create important legal documents. And these forms are "attorney created" too. The potential for coercion, abuse and outright forgery is also great when using this process. You can't count on the Notary facilitating the signing to catch those. And yes, I understand that the 5k you are paying an attorney is mostly for a copy of a template they've used over and over. I'd suggest a hybrid model. The couple does most of the work and creates the document itself, but a live attorney reviews it. That way you're only paying for an hour or so of their time and the safeguards are still in place.
So basically their website isn't unique, just typical statements on there that you can get through a lawyer? Doesn't that mean anyone can start a prenup site?
By far, best presentation. Come with the wedding dress, talk about the preparations, but the moment we start talking business, bam!!! Full business attire. I love the genius behind that because prenups are strictly business. Fantastic execution.
Great idea. Backed up by an experienced lawyer, tech friendly, appeals to all the people getting married in my generation (millennials). I can see why they said it’s too early to invest but soon it’s going to be TOO LATE! This is an ingenious idea. Does this work for Canadians?
I'm sure it would require bringing in Canadian attorneys because the laws are so different, but it's possible. Maybe an entrepreneurial Canadian attorney would wish to partner up with them for expansion.
everything is more convenient online. In Canada a lot of businesses don’t even bother to go to a lawyer or the registry to incorporate anymore, theres sites that incorporate for you and you can just do it all at home
@Tats McGee ….Wild guess here, but you might want to swap a letter ‘M’ for a ‘N’ in your comment…. Although a ‘motorized document’ is quite a funny image to picture in my mind! (Yes, I’ve got a big, visual imagination) ;)))
This in fact is a really great idea, making something that's cumbersome and expensive so simple. I am actually surprised at the lack of excitement from the sharks.
One of the biggest issues i see with this business is where someone is under coercive control and while they may "agree" it maybe under duress with "witnesses" who are helping in that control as its being done at home. The point of going to lawyers for a prenup agreement is for the impartiality and verification aspect. On top of this, there maybe specific laws in each state/region due to divorce where those who have had prenups were determined by the court to be absolutely useless. These are major gaps in the business idea which i think it wont succeed.
This is NOT true! Lawyers only represent ONE party They can’t hold a fiduciary duty to two parties man. I mean they CAN… but the $5k cost she quoted is retainer for TWO lawyers as each party needs their own. The very nature of having “full representation” though is that the two lawyers take forever as they “negotiate”. Just removing the lawyers and having each person fill out the questionnaire, then IF they disagree on anything the app then moves to a shared form to hash out details. $599 vs $2500x2 Day ? Vs Months ?
@@arthurduncan5838 Nah, I don't think I'm going to rely on an online service when it comes to a legal document as serious as this. But you can go ahead and skip the attorney if you want.
@@theempire00 yupp, he was so acting so irate when Sir Richard Branson was a guest. He couldn't have another shark wealthier than him in the same room.
How on earth were they not prepared to say "I do" after accepting an offer. That's immediately what Robert and probably every viewer thought of the second they agreed 😂🤣 Very smart product and two exceptional young ladies, who didn't get intimidated or pressured into the original offer, and got Kevin for only an additional 5% equity. Personally, I'd have stuck with the 25% deal and asked for $200k, but if that's what they wanted, good for them!
As an attorney, I understand this problem - especially the legal fees. However, the idea of creating a legally binding document online in a few hours is horrifying. There’s a good chance that most people won’t know what everything means. Even if they think they understand all the terms, contact law can be very complex. Then, once they realize their mistake, that’ll create more legal fees (and nightmares) on the backend. So, I agree that providing affordable prenups is an important service - but their customers run the risk of making things infinitely worse for themselves.
The Something Wonderful platform was a great idea for Kevin. And he basically got a part of the deal just because of that. It just integrates so well with anything wedding related.
Im really shocked at Robert's responses, isnt he a software guy as well? If this was pitched to me i would've 100% invest in it, its genius and the business owners are so competent in the space.
This is brilliant and so intuitive. Not sure if there's much data to back it (yet), but I just know it's a good idea. I went to college with a bunch of rich kids and ALL their parents want them to get prenups. Everything they said about younger generations wanting prenups is so true. The marriage rate among millennials is still far lower than previous generations, so there's a lot of time for this space to grow as millennials eventually settle down. Not to mention, more accessible prenups in-and-of-itself can cause the marriage rate to tick up a bit.
Legal binding financial agreements barely hold up in court this will make many lawyers very wealthy when crunch time comes invalid as soon as children born etc just like on line wills not worth the paper theyre wriitem on lots of lawyer's get rich undoing the damage these things do
They put Kevin in without any royalty agreement 🙄🙄🙄. For a moment when they said they wanted a another partner i was thinking may be they wanted to partner with Mark Cuban. But they wanted Kavin. I think it's the first time in shark tank history some wanted Kavin so badly. They gave extra 5 percent. Kavin must be crying from inside. 😜😜😜😜

I think this is a great idea, everyone should have a prenup, it should be normalized to protect your assets while things are good instead of trying to save them when things are bad lol
I don't necessarily think everyone needs one. I think everyone is crazy eager to get one nowadays, but I'd only say one is a great idea if you have significant monetary value or investments over your partner before you marry. I see a prenup as admitting the possibility that you're going to break up before you even marry and that's a sad expectation to go into marriage with, but that's just me. I didn't have one, but statistics show half and half if I remember right so I guess it's up to the person doing the deed.

This is the perfect solution to a huge gap in accessibility to prenups for so many couples. I’m glad the sharks invested and happy they’re doing so well. This service was needed.
Methinks there was part of this presentation not included in the broadcast or clips. They mentioned this would print cash at the end, but during the video were trashing them for writing so few actual prenups.
I can't imagine the back end security being up to the necessity it needs to be with the amount of capital invested. Even at current updated figures. They are one good pen test away from every aspect of you and your financial situation at someone's hands
I went to law school and I think they will make a lot of money but if they are still alive within 2-3 years when people actually need the prenups they signed I think they will face a lot of customer complaints because I feel like this will easily be declared void in a court because of how quickly it is done.
a contract is a contract ,time to compose does not define the validity of a contract, you have a lawyer who composes the contact template using the correct legal wording so there is no circumventing it,if you sign something ,your legally obligated to it, maybe a lawyer assisted 5k contract is better ,but i am sure this one is surely worth the 600 dollars, and i also think allot of people who wouldn't have done the 5k awkward hassle would do this, i am sure there will be growing pains and amendments on the template, but it wont be void as she has made it in accordance to the other prenups she made as a pro divorce attorney ,as she did make the 5k ones as well
I'd assume the company would videotape the review & signing of the ks and take other precautions. Some people will litigate anyway, but I think they would with the 5,000 $ prenuptial, too. Much depends on the financial ability of the party contesting the prenuptial.
@@humility-righteous-giving A valid contract is not just signatures, it has to respect formal requisites and also content wise. Time to compose can define the validity of a contract when it affects the content. Often times a prenup contract will be considered much stronger and fairer when you do it traditionally and especially when both parties have an independent lawyer or mediator between each other. I would personally not trust a service like this to defend you if you have a lot of assets until they have good information on its efficacy in court and dispute resolution when it’s actually necessary.

Also whats stopping legalzoom from doing the exact same thing they are and absolutely crushing them
Mark’s little chuckle after “the happy couple comes together to resolve any differences in their answers” had me dying. 😂 Like he was thinking “yeah, good luck with that…”
Props to mark cause even when he sees the potential of a business he’s willing to let a more experienced shark in that field to come in if he thinks It’s best for the entrepreneurs
Mark just looks for any reason not to invest LMAO
He's already got too many people
@@Nandinandito I think Barbra got the same problem but instead of having too many people she doesn’t have enough money
“I am a divorce attorney”
Lori: “LOVE THAT”
Ha
having a lawyer as one of the founders for a company doing legal stuff is reassuring
I love that they were able to reel Kevin back into the deal.🦈🎣 Well done ladies!
From Personal experience I think their business would’ve worked without any sharks… That was a brilliant idea.
never seen Nirav Tolia not smiling! such a humble and positive man!
They’re roasting it and it’s EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for
Rule #1 of Shark Tank: Always undervalue your business even if your gut tells you it's worth more.
That's backfired for people in the past
I'll definitely be doing this depending how it's going so far or when that time happens. Great idea for a great price!
or diy for free, but I guess they don’t touch on that. doesn’t bode well for the company.
@Tats McGee ….Wild guess here, but you might want to swap a letter ‘M’ for a ‘N’ in your comment….
Although a ‘motorized document’ is quite a funny image to picture in my mind! (Yes, I’ve got a big, visual imagination)
;)))
@@The_Real_Mier 😂😂😭😭
@Tats McGee And every year the marriage can be sent in for an MOT!
Just love how calm and composed Nirav is
This in fact is a really great idea, making something that's cumbersome and expensive so simple. I am actually surprised at the lack of excitement from the sharks.
I can hear that song lyric from Gold Digger in my head:Holla, We want prenup! We want prenup!
Lol
yepp.. did you see how the BITCH on the left rolled her eyes when he offered her one hundred and fifty thousand dollars???
One of the biggest issues i see with this business is where someone is under coercive control and while they may "agree" it maybe under duress with "witnesses" who are helping in that control as its being done at home. The point of going to lawyers for a prenup agreement is for the impartiality and verification aspect. On top of this, there maybe specific laws in each state/region due to divorce where those who have had prenups were determined by the court to be absolutely useless. These are major gaps in the business idea which i think it wont succeed.
This is NOT true!
Lawyers only represent ONE party
They can’t hold a fiduciary duty to two parties man.
$599 vs $2500x2
Day ? Vs Months ?
@@arthurduncan5838 Nah, I don't think I'm going to rely on an online service when it comes to a legal document as serious as this. But you can go ahead and skip the attorney if you want.
This is such a great idea since everything is best online and cost less. Sharks are way out of touch with a online prenuptial
I love the phrase by Mark at 8:53 " good job rookie" , that means You are good , but I'm the Billionaire here Lol
His ego is too big
Was wondering too if the thousands of dollars affects the quality I hope they’re doing it well!!
Omg the eye roll from the girl pitching on the left at 7:03. So disrespectful, at least you finally got an offer!
I hope the tech partner owns a proper and fair amount of equity in this thing.
I can see so many ppl trying to create similar business. This was a brilliant idea
Wow, that eyeroll at "30%" 7:03 lmaoo like, girl...
I will definitely use this if/when I get married. I'm a millennial, I want an easy and quick process.
Why do people keep throwing that word around millenials are like 40+ who cares about them
@@privateemail5870 the youngest millennial rn is 25… no one is really getting married before that
@@privateemail5870 about 25 to 40 years old is millenial age group. So they are no doubt the majority who would use this.

Bullshit. I know someone getting married & she's 22. I also know people who got married before 22. It happens. Speak facts not bullshit.
don’t get married it’s a scam.
Legal binding financial agreements barely hold up in court this will make many lawyers very wealthy when crunch time comes invalid as soon as children born etc just like on line wills not worth the paper theyre wriitem on lots of lawyer's get rich undoing the damage these things do
Owning a niche and being first to mind in prenup space is huge
Mark’s evil smile at 6:29 🤣 🤣 🤣
This will be strong business over time. The eye roll was something lol
The eye roll, I would have retracted and went out immediately
Why can't people give a normal fun presentation instead of a middle school musical audition?
have to remember it's reality tv
Nice but you always have to follow up online to see if the deal actually goes through after a diligence is duly done
It’s like they prepared the presentation for kindergartners. 🤣
The battle axe on the right is the perfect person for this type of business.
They're gonna make so much money. And they got the best two sharks for their biz. Awesome.
gee they were SO LUCKY. And that Nirav really saved them.
I would have invested before they even finished the pitch
My Sister told me to get a prenup,
I said why my Wife is more wealthy
than me! Happily together 22 years.
Like in Seinfeld when George asks his fiance for a prenup and she laughs in his face cause she’s rich and he’s poor, ‘sure I’ll sign your prenup🤣’
Interesting. My future fincee has the money of gods. Im the ambitious guy who is solid but not rich. Any divorce from her and I'm in top 1% of this country in networth. Not my goal at all though.
I think this will blow up soon
this is amazing
I think thats actually a great idea
‘I don’t know what a prenup is so for that reason I was out’ - Barbara
I don't blame them for wanting another shark. A quarter of your business is a lot for one person to hold. But 2 having 15% is not nearly as worrisome
Kevin:Cry me a river 7:38 😂😂
As far as prenups go, its actually a good invention.
I agree what Nirav said, he really on more steps forwards on seeing what millennials behaviour compared to other sharks
6:27
Mark looked at everyone else like “who tf is this new guy?😂”
I love Kevin , " cry me a river " 😆 🤣 😂 😹 I'm so happy for them
What I want to know is that would these prenups be actually legal ? Or are they just going to be easy to break it without a lawyer .
The fact the brought a dead Kevin back to life is amazing
Man robert looks great for a 60 year old
Prenups rarely hold up in court, let alone in cases where there wasn't independent legal advice...
@@sakume7969 that's a good point, anyone that has assets or will have assets should consider getting one, you'll be glad you have one if your* marriage falls within that 50% or so that end
If you’re going into a marriage with a « these are MY assets alone », that problem should be addressed wayyy before even thinking of getting a prenup
@@sakume7969 People are getting pre-nups due to the high rate of divorce. Also they are a better to have something and not need it than need it and not have it.

Millennial here. My partner and I are engaged. Unfortunately, neither of us have family leaving us a trillion dollars but financial literacy and responsibility are extremely important to us. We are not rushing down the aisle because we are paying for everything ourselves. We’re now debt free and refuse to accrue any debt to get married. We will absolutely be using Hello Prenup. This is the perfect solution to a huge gap in accessibility to prenups for so many couples. I’m glad the sharks invested and happy they’re doing so well. This service was needed.
The only thing I would change in their pitch is "we have worked so hard for this". Otherwise, their idea was amazing
What do u mean, can u elaborate
Ironically so simultaneously Exciting & Depressing at the same time!
This company will succeed
So happy to see you succeed! I know who I’ll be going to when I’m married.
This is going to be big one day
I went to law school and I think they will make a lot of money but if they are still alive within 2-3 years when people actually need the prenups they signed I think they will face a lot of customer complaints because I feel like this will easily be declared void in a court because of how quickly it is done.
a contract is a contract ,time to compose does not define the validity of a contract, you have a lawyer who composes the contact template using the correct legal wording so there is no circumventing it,if you sign something ,your legally obligated to it, maybe a lawyer assisted 5k contract is better ,but i am sure this one is surely worth the 600 dollars, and i also think allot of people who wouldn't have done the 5k awkward hassle would do this, i am sure there will be growing pains and amendments on the template, but it wont be void as she has made it in accordance to the other prenups she made as a pro divorce attorney ,as she did make the 5k ones as well
Wait. 2or 3 years? You expect people to get divorced in 2 or 3 years ?
@@floydbanks1777 divorces are most common in the first 2 years or between 5 to 8 years in.
Wow, great combination of sharks!!!!! So awesome 👏🏽
