      Not really, there’s ways around it, especially with people with dementia who can’t remember who they actually trust. You can still call them & trick them into doing everything you need, not having a smart device or computer doesn’t change that, remember people have been getting scammed since the beginning of time therefore it’s not hard to revert back to old tactics that were used before smart devices were the normal.

    I love the idea of this. The custom buttons could be a barrier to quick buy-and-use though. One possible solution would be, to have buttons 1-6 or 1-8, sell it in regular stores. Contact the company online, upload images or words, company mails out stickers for the buttons. The customization is probably a huge part of the cost. Make standardized units, offer free stickers mailed out with whatever you need printed on. Done.
    Lose a barrier to entry, decrease the cost.

Plus if you could add the ability to download a communication app for those who need that it would be an amazing product. A comapny called Lively, now owned by Best Buy, has been making Jitterbug cell phones for years. These were similar 1 button and 3 button flip phones with no keypad and a regular flip phone with simple menus and large buttons. This was as far back as 2006 i believe. For sure 2008. They have since dropped the 3 button phones, as they didn't sell well with flip phone and simple android options along with a smart watch and emergency paging system similar to Life Alert. Might be why this wouldn't work out as well here in the US. Lively was doing this in like 2008 if not before( 3 button flip phones and simple flip phones for senior citizens) This is probably why this wouldn't go over here in the US...hell my grandmother uses a regular android and shes also a quadriplegic...so most probably get by with that

    This is a very temporary business, after babyboomers are gone, the business is gone. Kids grow up with technology these days, won't be a problem later on.

    • @sloofsloof2868

    • @michaeljames4194
      @michaeljames4194 5 лет назад +3

      Sloof Sloof but if you already understand how to navigate and properly use a smartphone, you can adapt the interface and screen for your disability. And chances are, if you grew up with technology, you’ll know how to use voice command as well. There are a million ways to accommodate people with disabilities with technology, it’s the combination of age with disability that is problematic right now. Once the understanding of the tech is there, you’ll much prefer other options than this.

      Many or even most businesses are temporary but can still make good money while it lasts. Smartphones have only been out for under 2 decades, that leaves a lot of the population that didn't grow up with them. Age-related disability aren't going anywhere either. 30 years from now the smartphone form factor will likely be obsolete anyhow.

    • @roninsdog261
      @roninsdog261 5 лет назад +2

      Hahaha, very temporary. You have no idea. We're talking everyone over 50 minimum, so that's at least 30 to 40 years. Very temporary, multi national companies have boomed and then gone bust in less time than that.
