@Chet Carson I was shaking my head the whole time here. Why would they be willing to go in 200K for so low when her business had only been losing money? I’m with Steve on these monthly subscription companies where goods are chosen for you. They’re more of a gimmick, and eventually ppl become dissatisfied with what they get or just decide it’s not worth the always-high cost. Seriously, how many different things can something like this provide to keep ppl’s interest. Just a small bottle of hand cream takes months to use up, and how many pairs of sunglasses can a person use? Maybe if they provided high-end accessories, like a Hermès scarf, but that’s not workable.
See iam not being sexist but girls mostly Change alot cosmetice ,if this would come in India it's an hit . But the thing is they would have to be able to change thier catalogue frequently imo .I could be wrong no offense to anyone
Yes and no. The subscription box company needs to get enough traction to get great ultra-low-cost-or-free items from desirable brands. Once they're over that hurdle, and if they do the curation wisely with enough variety to suit their customer base customization, they end up being a great value. Personally I save money on skincare by using Ipsy (with my profile tuned to get as much skincare as possible rather than all makeup), and I end up having enough quality products to use that I barely ever have to buy a few drugstore staples, plus I end up with enough makeup to enjoy novelty and funsies from that and I use makeup slowly enough that I never buy it otherwise. With many subscription boxes that feature things more like clothes and other lifestyle items, by all means, I think the risk is higher and it's less likely to be a good value. But people enjoy novelty and discovering new things, so there's an entertainment value, and also things you don't want can be perfect to keep around as a stash of cool gifts for others. I think the model is here to stay. I'll probably never get beyond Ipsy and probably one day getting Barkbox again, but I'm pretty picky with my spending and most people have way more funsies money than I do. Lots of subscription box companies will fail for sure, there won't be more than a handful of major players in each space within them, but brands that grab a piece of each of those and maintain enough market share to get good deals from product brands so that boxes contain great stuff, those brands will do well.
It really depends on the type of product. I love hot sauce; I put it on just about everything I eat, so I tend to go through an average sized bottle at a decent pace. I've had a subscription to fuego box for the past 2.5 years and I love it with no intention of cancelling any time soon. Different flavors, spices, heat, ect every almost every time. It is certainly a niche market, but depending on the product, customer retention rates can be pretty high. Gaming and gaming accessories boxes are also pretty successful(though I've never personally had one).
I think it would be easier if the customers could create their own box's trough their website, so they wouldn't receive random products then it could work much better. Also subscription based product usually work much better if there are some added benefits to the base product, so maybe some cupone codes or discounts for wellness, spa, massage treatments etc... Then it wouldn't be just a product but also a valuable service.
After Steve bows out she turns to the rest, "Hi guuuys." And then when Andrew makes the offer, "Oh shit." Yeah she was just amazed that he didn't see through her childish ploys.

That was great to watch, so refreshing to see one of those pitching able to have a conversation like an owner / ceo, i.e. nailing the numbers without thought, not even a pause, really wanted her to get the deal..
The Sharks say she had done fantastically and is a great business woman even though she evaluated her business at more than 1.6 million dollars with zero profits.
Meth Productions she did have a very good pitch but she lied about a lot of the stuff unfortunately. The company would have been amazing in the right hands
I just saw this video today but somewhere I can't really explain but I thought, "How'd they pay their herfashionemployees?" And there I found a recommended post from somebody explaining the underpaid intern scam or fraud pulled off by the company which is agaunst the fair work policy in Australia. Man, Naomi was talking somewhere about it and was smart to pull out of it. Well, it won't hurt Andrew and her partner much.
Wow this is the first deal, I have seen on Shark Tank and Dragon Den, that the entrepreneur nailed every question with confidence, that the Sharks threw at her. She will do well with the Sharks covering the Australian & American markets!!!
Ya unfortunately she didn't. Someone said the deal fell through, but I didn't see any article about that, but there is an article about the business failing and being fined about 300,000 for unpaid salaries. So either way the business is no more.
@Ryan Morgan I mean the courts didn't see it that way. Even the quotes from the judge don't suggest that at all. It more so suggested that he understood she basically had no money and the punishment was somewhat harsh, but necessary.
@Ryan Morgan where did you see that? The article going around said absolutely nothing about charging customers multiple times and such, it literally only talked about the fine for not paying 3 of her workers. If you have a different article that has more then I would love to see it
@Ryan Morgan I see what you are talking about, but I am not sure how long that was actually going on for, it seems that basically every report I read is from the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017, which is around when the company actually shut down. Unfortunately business on their last leg will do a lot of bad business practices to just try and scrape what little time they have left. It is a very bad practice, no doubt about that, but I do question the idea of it being an outright scam. No doubt you are right when talking about when the company was going under. But I am not really seeing anything negative from before that. I also don't actually see anything like her taking the money for herself personally. At least no official body has made any such finding. It is just as likely that basically everything was screwed up by the end due to her business simply going under. That is the biggest problem with those subscription businesses, they lose money constantly and basically hope to break even in like 10 years after starting up, but most can't possibly survive that long, and don't grow nearly enough or keep nearly enough subscribers. It is at the very least equally possibly that she put all of the money she had into the business and it simply wasn't enough. But the possibility that she took the money for herself is also still there of course. We just have no definitive way of knowing since it seems no official body has found any evidence one way or the other.
@Ryan Morgan yes you are right that those people definitely exist, but they don't make up 100% of the cases out there. I am just saying that we don't really know all the facts, so we don't really have any way of knowing for sure, so it is at list a little bit of a jump to start calling people scam artists and such. I just believe in being fair, if a news group has actually done some digging and found some proof I would gladly make a more definitive answer. But unfortunately we don't have anything like that. Like I said you may be correct in calling it a scam, but we have no way on knowing. And I am also just pointing out that all of these things basically happened at the very end of the businesses life, so they don't appear to be something that was happening on a regular basis before hand. That at least, possibly, says a little bit about the company and maybe the situation.
This company ceased operations in 2017 afrer being slapped an Aud 300K fine for violating government regulations regarding employe benefits and salaries.
That was Andrew all the way, he kept saying she is worth backing and it was nice to see a owner come in knowing her worth and the value the sharks bring not just the capital
That girl got lucky! She came onto the show in the prime years of "Female Empowerment BS" And the sharks made a deal with a girl that has no profits, a broken business model, and a concept that can be easily copied. This episode was like nails on a chalkboard and NOT a good example of being a business person.
Love how the others get up at the end and go ahhhh well done, hope for a kiss or hug and look like a loaner just standing there😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 teach them to invest next time😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can't believe they uploaded this... This women and the company got fined over $500000 for under paying workers between 2013-2015. She went on the show in 2016. There was a media release from NSW gov warning people not to trade with the business.
Double the price and make the boxes once every two months and they’ll be able to keep subscribers for four times the length of time. Monthly subscriptions work best with perishable” items like food and movies or services like gyms or car washes. They don’t work well for accumulating cheap stuff that just becomes clutter like clothes/purses. If a customer subscribes for 3 years, that’s 36 purses/scarves/sunglasses from one source. Are there really any women wishing they could have 15 pairs of Chinese-made sunglasses, 10 chinese-made purses, and 11 scarves? Boxes that come every two months but double the price would keep revenue the same but probably lead to happier customers because the products are higher quality, curated better, and there isn’t a mass accumulation of stuff.
Since this was shot in 2019 - pre Covid. I bet with people staying at home her business is going through the roof and will continue to grow. She’ll be a millionaire in a couple of years.
A lot of prescription type business in the states is set up to screw the consumer. Sometimes stopping that company from withdrawing automatic monthly payments can take months, and raises the blood pressure. Is this how they operate in Australia?
Janine struggled with that. Very nice of Glenn to give her that advice. Personally I think that I'd have still done the 20% after they said yes to the 16% because they definitely know their shit and will be worth it.
reality is that she got Janine to team up with Andrew for 1% because she told her she is Fabulous, its sad that this business didnt work out in the end though because of legal issues
She’s now sold majority of her company to investors, worked for 2 years and hasn’t made a profit. It’s sad her desire to grow is making her investors rich. Maybe she can turn it around but it will take a miracle at this point
I think it was already failing by the time she got on this show. The company since accepted payments for months before delering products, failed to respond to requests to cancel subscriptions, failed to provide products that were paid for, and got fined $330000 for not paying employees. The company is no more. I imagine many of those problems already existed and were left out in the pitch
She also didn’t give out goods until months after, sometimes she never sent them. They weren’t as good quality as advertised and some arrived broken. She offered small businesses a chance to be in the box, but then she never put it in so they lost a lot of money. She was a a massive fraud
If female entrepreneur had Andrew and Janine as investors, why didn't they guide her? Her company was fined $330k for unpaid internships and underpayment of young workers. Glenn and Janine should have been mentors, not only investors
Didnt like the idea or business model but still surprised it was such a huge failure ,Never seen anyone pitch so well tho and sure she'll be back in business with another idea and make millions .
A failed fashion industry start-up that once scored a $200,000 deal on Shark Tank has been dealt a final blow after copping a massive fine for exploiting young workers. Her Fashion Box and its sole director Kath Purkis have been fined a total of $329,133 by the Federal Circuit Court in Sydney for underpaying three workers more than $40,000 between 2013 and 2015.

kvt nation stfu stop taking the joke to the ass and stop getting butt hurt he was joking is not like because the voice crack her carrier is going to end
I honestly think those boxes are hideous. I think things like this really appeal to people who love packaging. That's a big red flag to me as it's a bit of a sign she doesn't know her target market. Also, the bottles etc. Not very good for the environment. She'd do better to look at companies that have more sustainable packaging because that's where the world is headed. Or perhaps people can return the bottles? Something like that? Maybe at the six month mark, you can chuck in a little something extra to keep them interested. Something more high end, so it's like a reward for staying loyal. Even with that though, I think it's a novelty and would wear off quickly. A better idea would be a spa package where once a month, you get a spa treatment delivered in a box. Make up and fashion trends continually evolve but the idea of treating yourself is really the core of what this business is trying to sell and it expands across a much wider market in terms of ages and cultures. Luxury face mask, some Delicious chamomile tea, yummy body scrub bar, small sample high end perfume, bath salts, vanilla and lavender candle, hair mask, etc. Maybe a cheeky little wine with a niche boutique style dark chocolate in there. I'd fucking subscribe to that lmao. I'm surprised that she managed to get such a decent offer. I feel like they need a much younger Shark in there to inject a modern perspective.
brigmund freud she went out of business.. she wasn’t paying her employees and was fined $330,000. That was great to watch, so refreshing to see one of those pitching able to have a conversation like an owner / ceo, i.e. nailing the numbers without thought, not even a pause, really wanted her to get the deal..
They better have not done the deal ,her company got out of business
She was underpaying her staff, customers paying for monthly boxes but she wasn't sending out monthly and fined in excess of $300k
The Sharks say she had done fantastically and is a great business woman even though she evaluated her business at more than 1.6 million dollars with zero profits.
Australian Sharks are the best human I have ever seen in television. Fantastic people.👍
You're easily satisfied.
One of the best pitches I've ever seen! She has her head completely there!
Meth Productions she scammed many people so she’s not completely
there loll
@@aneveychavez6715 lol, thanks for pointing that out to me, I was unaware!
Meth Productions she did have a very good pitch but she lied about a lot of the stuff unfortunately. The company would have been amazing in the right hands
@@aneveychavez6715 Yeah, I agree on that!
Damn she struck gold with that knocked it down 4% at the end
Buisiness failed 300.000$ fine. 4% down but even worse investment
She was able to answer the questions openly 🙌🙌🙌
Never smiled so much at one of these episodes! Well done lads! Well deserved
We just have to say Andrew is the nicest and most brilliant guy ever
I liked that he gives the heads up that they asked for too much equity, before she came to the decision so she can negotiate 👌🏽
Glasses suited middle boss man
Heard about this Shark Tank show here and there and I thought they really put people and real shark in a tank to duke it out. Disappointed
Wouldn't cry just yet. I hear 90+ % of these deals made on the show never materialize.
I like the way she gave hug for that young and beautiful girl
This is neat! I love seeing the sharks finding a good deal for themselves while not taking too much of her business
Just read that this business was an utter failure and the woman has been fined $330,000 by sydney courts.

She’s a scammer though. Hurt a small candle company
It’s actually falling apart. Boxes are never delivered and they were fined for not paying employees
It’s from 2016
I love Glen and Steve talking other sharks down haha
A lot of prescription type business in the states is set up to screw the consumer. Sometimes stopping that company from withdrawing automatic monthly payments can take months, and raises the blood pressure. Is this how they operate in Australia?
Janine struggled with that. Very nice of Glenn to give her that advice. Personally I think that I'd have still done the 20% after they said yes to the 16% because they definitely know their shit and will be worth it.
reality is that she got Janine to team up with Andrew for 1% because she told her she is Fabulous, its sad that this business didnt work out in the end though because of legal issues
She is so promising, I wish her all the luck and Kudos to Andrew and Jenine. My love for 🦈 Tank Australia continues
Shame she got fined A$330,000 for under paying her workers and business went bust. Something about her wasn't right.
Really, That's so disappointing. People are at the heart of any business. You don't take care of your people, your business is foredoomed to failure.
Props to shark tank Australia for showing full segments unlike the American version.
My god they actually made a deal with someone
Yea i was getting fedup
And.... The company is no more
She’s now sold majority of her company to investors, worked for 2 years and hasn’t made a profit.
You are so much nicer than the American sharks.at least you give the people a minute to discuss the offers.i enjoy watching you all😁
Truly SICK of all these subscription companies who try and rip you off on a monthly basis.
If I want to buy something, I buy it.
6:16 and 6:55 the exact same clip of her saying “oh my god” The exact same clip.
I even took a 2 pictures and compared them it’s the absolute same.

Nah
Just read an article that says she and her company have been sued for underpaying staff and the company shut down. Shame - she looked so impressive.
She also didn’t give out goods until months after, sometimes she never sent them. They weren’t as good quality as advertised and some arrived broken. She offered small businesses a chance to be in the box, but then she never put it in so they lost a lot of money. She was a a massive fraud
Sweet talker scammed good.
This company is out of business and all their reviews is bad. I think Andrew took her to Las Vegas not to meet with his daughter 😉
Yep, she got fined $300k for not paying employees and was sending out boxes quarterly and charging customers monthly
Lmao. Well. I cant blame him. She looks good enough to "fulfill the needs".
If female entrepreneur had Andrew and Janine as investors, why didn't they guide her? Her company was fined $330k for unpaid internships and underpayment of young workers. Glenn and Janine should have been mentors, not only investors
Because of money.
*Andrew and Janine
I don’t see how this is any different than all of the other subscription boxes out there?
She got the two best sharks for her. Steve might have been good two, but she made the right decision.

“Subscription boxes don’t last long”.
Ipsy:👁👄👁
Finally a deal has been made
@Michael B Why would you call him an idiot?
