- Complete Process of replacing the water pump impeller.
I was following the steps listed at:
forums.iboats....
Which were quite useful but I could not find any illustrated guide or videos so I thought I would film the process and see if it might be useful to someone else who had never done this before. Feel free to leave comments and suggestions and give the video likes if you are so inclined.
In the middle changing this impeller and just about mount it back to the housing, years later this video is still a huge help! Thank you sir!!
Glad it helped!
You are most welcome
Don’t normally comment but you did a great video really easy to understand now thx
Glad it helped!
88 Force 125hp on my TrophyBass Bayliner. This beast won't quit...thanks to your video!!!
Awesome
Very helpful. Almost identical to my 1990 90 hp. Not much on these force motors. They say they aren't very good however with this many of us having them 30 plus years later....seems to be they can't be all bad. May the force be with you! For years and years to come. Lol!
Just got a boat with a 1991 force 5 cyl. Good to know this. Hey, does the white plastic sleeve tube on the water pump connect directly to the water tube of the same color/material found in the outboard? Or is there a piece that couples them?
Great video, was able to fix mine in one evening. Mine is a little older but same thing. also ordered the kit from Amazon. It had all the parts needed for $32.

I'm not sure about that, it's been a while lol.
EXCELLENT instructions. Without 10mins of self absorbed personal useless information you find in most instruction vids.
Glad it helped.
Best force 120/125 impeller video on you tube. Now I will attempt it. Thank you for not wasting excessive time on crappy footage. Very thorough, thanks
Like Jerry R said a couple months ago- tilt the motor all the way up when removing and re-installing the lower unit makes it a ton easier. I have a 1991 Trophy with Force 150 bought new in 1991. Have done this replacement numerous times and am doing it again this week, not because of the pump but have gearcase leak from either the driveshaft and water pump seal or shift shaft seal and are replacing those and the pump parts at the same time. So you might want to consider looking at that while replacing the water pump impeller etc. if you do it again in the future.
Greetings from Idaho Falls/Aug ‘24.
Great vid. Lots of wonderful, frustration avoiding tips. Lots of them:). Thank you. Super helpful🎯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.
Excellent😃
Love that area! So many great options for fishing! I am glad you found it helpful.
@@Curtis4JC it really was. I’ve been dreading this job:), and watched more than a few vids on this…. Thx teach!
Thank you Iv got an 85 125 and have to do this same thing. Your a big help.
Glad it helped
Thank you for taking the time. I have an ‘18 ft 87 Bayliner Trophy with the Force 125. Been a great boat. I have had zero issues in the 31 years of ownership. I am in a new area and now I am having to work on it myself because I can’t find a mechanic that will.

I just bought an 88 Capri with this motor on it, a few years ago I had a Capri with an 85 horse and changed the impeller and stator, it's not too bad. I'm going to start checking out this boat to see what it needs.
Tilt the motor all the way up , makes it easier. Put it in gear and you can rotate the shaft by turning the prop shaft by hand.Always had to replace impeller housing on mine because of saltwater corrosion. Mines an 86' Very similar. Cheap simple motor hated by many but it still has 150 compression on all four cylinders , just wont die. Good video
Great detailed video! You have convinced me to give it a shot myself on our 86 force 125! Glad I found this, maybe I'll post when I complete it!
awesome video. two things i would say is grease is more ideal then dish soap but no biggy. also ive heard on just about every video that when installing the new impeller you should turn the shaft in the close wise position (same direction as the old impeller is molded into to). in the video you said counter clockwise. although im not a professional so it may not matter! lol
About to buy a 1994 glasport fish and ski with one of these force 150ph motors for under $2k bc the motor needs a new water pump. hoping this video really helps when i need to replace it!
I am going to try this Friday. Thanks for the video
Thank you so much for sharing. Im new to boating and just picked up a 1988 Bayliner Trophy with a us Marin 125 outboard just like you're motor.
Good job, good video. I just bought an 1988 Bayliner Capri with this motor and I'm gonna check the impeller and it needs a stator.
This was great! I’m getting ready to try to do the same operation on my 1986. Keep up the great content on these motors!
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. I have a 1990 Force 150HP and it's almost identical. I had no trouble following your steps and was able to fish out my (shattered) impeller and replace it in an afternoon. Hardest part was lining everything up when putting it back together. Mine was missing the 1/4" allen bolt, so it was helpful to know what to put back in there. I could only find an entire rebuild kit for $110 - according to the three shops I tried, they're getting scarce. You helped me out a ton!
Hey I'm glad to hear that!
Very helpful! Thank you😊
Thanks for this information . Lots of help. Have a BLESSED day.
excellent tutorial. you did really good. taught me something.
Thank you for sharing your step by step video
Always apply anti-seize compound on all bolts for easy removal later.
Good advice
@@Curtis4JC I made the comment before you mentioned that several times. Good job
this was amazing definitely keep them coming
Thank you very much... your video was very helpful!
Excellent tutorial. Thks
Really helpful video
Same here.thanks men for giving some idea..
good job ....tks
Seems this is a trending video again. Excellent job sir im ripping my lower off tomorrow for this exact repair. Also noticed the upper water tell did you install that? mine is just plugged, Thanks again!
Thanks, I do have the upper tell working. I need to fix the port where it comes out of the housing.
Great Thank You.
You can use 2 ratchet straps to hold the weight while you install the lower unit.
Thanks for the vid
Thanks for the info but to change mine out now
Part numbers would have been awesome
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to produce it! Where did you source the parts?

dont think you covered lining up the water pump water tube that goes back into that white sleeve that's on water pump i seen people not get that back in there correctly and do damage to it usually 1 to three times is normal getting it all to line up i had to go 5 times on a 35 hp mercury and 20 hp models but they are a pain in the ace Chrysler and force are much easier
Have the exact same motor it runs good just when I give full gas and let off it will bog while in gear
Sorry I am not a real.outboard specialist. Perhaps someone else who has watched has some insight.
I have your carburetors re adjusted and have your control services checked
I have the same motor, but those two pieces you took off and said you didn’t know how they went back were different when I took Them off. The rubber seal was all the way at the bottom of the shaft and the metal ring was opposite of how you did it. Now whether or not your right or mines right I don’t know.
It's been quite a while since I did the job If you can put a time reference to the point in the video I might be able to recall if I did additional research
@@Curtis4JC it looks like you start talking about the parts I’m referring too at 15:58.

@@outdoorsman2587 I think When I went to put it together I referenced a diagram like the one I just pasted in the comments. If you zoom in you can see the metal collar (70) sitting on top of the shaft with the seal(71) above it and it appears the bulge in the seal is at the top.
@@Curtis4JC okay I see that now. I guess whoever put mine back together didn’t put it on right then. Guess that means I’ve gotta take it back down and redo it. I really appreciate your help because it’s hard to find much information on these motors. By the way, how is your motor doing?
Brilliant Video, I am now going to look at doing my one on my project boat I got a few months ago. Do you have any videos on the controls up in the cockpit you have ?
Glad you liked it. Sorry that is the only project I have tackled on it.
Maybe pull the plugs, will make turning the engine easier when reinstalling the power shaft.
Thank you for the video! Does anyone know exactly where I can find the impeller? Is there a part number?
For an 87 impeller part number is 47-803630T gasket number is
27-F523031
Canadian or American? Wholesale marine in Donald the Dip$h!t Duck land or Amazon.ca if you're a fellow Canadian "eh" lol
How important is that rubber seal boot on the crankshaft? Do you know where I can get that part?
Sorry Jordan I didn't see your question earlier. I really am not certain. Wish I could help you more.
Why font u raise the motor to make it come out and go in alot alot better
Probably a good idea, however I was not sure how much it would weigh and I wanted to use the ground to help control the unit coming off. And there is also the fact that my tilt /trim bleeds off so the motor doesn't stay in the up position.
