Just wanted to add a couple comments, as there aren't many reviews of the ULTRA Dragonfly out there. For one, the pack is also available in white--the color I own--and I really like the look. Second, at least on my pack, the laptop compartment is definitely suspended, so your computer won't be touching the floor/ground. Third, even though that 13" MacBook looks tight in there, I fit in my 2019 16" MacBook Pro with a GIANT i-Blaison Armorguard shell quite easily. Finally, one of the great things about a more minimalist pack is that it gives in ways that more structured packs don't. For example, my Peak Design Camera Cube is essential for me to bring and protect my electronic equipment. ULA says the Dragonfly is 11" wide, which in a certain "configuration" it is. The camera cube is 12.5" wide, but because the pack can expand in width (at the expense of depth), the cube fits in the Dragonfly with no troubles, which isn't the case for many packs of this kind and size. I love it!

This is my current fav bag. Easy to live with, fits more than you think it would too. Also, they can do customizations! I got mine with a luggage pass through and detachable straps. So if I ever have to check it in, I can tuck the straps into the pass through making it tidier and less prone to snagging anywhere. Had mine made in VX42 (I think) and it’s been just awesome for hauling gear especially bulky items like helmets.
You know I hadn't thought about doing a custom. That's awesome. I did a custom Circuit with them and it's awesome.

@@JBOutside1 I figured out various ways to make the modifications I wanted myself. Such as using an old chest strap as the luggage pass-through strap, which can be stored in the water bottle holders when not in use and adding Velcro backed organization panels to various pockets within the bag.
Enjoyed this review, and picked up an Ultra Dragonfly during today's drop, to try out.
Would love to know where to find the embroidered web luggage tags with the double snaps, that you have on some of your bags.

Great review - any chance you could do a more indepth review comparing it to other 30L bags? i liked the comparison to the MPL30 specifically. Would be interested to hear how they compare internally as well

Main compartment is 22-24L, the 30L is including the stretch pockets

@@enriquediaz7547I still have one and really like it but didn’t like it as a OBT bag. I could fit everything I needed but it felt heavy with those straps and unsubstantial frame sheet. It’s a great do-everything bag though. For OBT I prefer the MPL. That thing is comfy loaded up.
I got the old dragon fly, X-Pac rs21, built in shoulder pockets. Single internal mesh pocket. Used daily and if I was to wash it it would look brand new. Great bag

I just bought the ULTRA black magic and absolutely love it. It looks small but can fit a lot. The comfort is great. Mine does not have the d rings, don’t know why…

What do you think about the Ultra fabric vs say an Xpac? I’m looking at getting the Camino but I really unsure of how the Ultra version will wear and feel, I’ve heard some negatives about it.

Great question and tough to say. My Circuit I had them make is all X50 XPAC and it's really nice with no durability concerns. Still very light. I think I would only go ultra if I was really trying to go lightest as possible, which just isn't me normally.
Ultra400 is almost double the abrasion taber cycles of 1000D cordura, which is miles beyond VX50. For what it's worth.

Do you know how it compares to the recent robic version? What's the differences between the fabrics?
I haven't tried the new material on the Dragonfly but I have in other bags. A different feel mostly, still durable and will be great for almost all use cases. Ultra is still the most durable choice though.
Do you have any experience with the Ultra800tx model? Wondering pros/cons of 400 v. 800. Thanks!

How will this fit under seat on an airline?
Depends on the airline, airplane, and seat location…also how stuffed it is. But the internal compression helps and it should do well in most situations

Haha, choosing is always tough! Love the GR1. For me, it's probably the Radio Ruck and GR1 21L. Haven't tried the M22 yet though. 😄

@@JBOutside1 I bought & returned the MPL22 - just didn't fit me correctly. which sucks as it seemed like the perfect bag from form and function. Attracted to the Dragonfly - close to 22L main and solid side pockets. neither have admin panels - which is fine by me.
The black one is 40 bucks cheaper(230$ vs 270$ at the moment) and looks neater. And Ultra is more durable, but the material itself looks somehow wrinkled and shabby. Difficult choice. I vote for X50.
