    Hi Christine. Watched your video from 7 months ago, stripe and circle/ retro crossbody. I learned so much... the zipper installation I will use from now on and you talked about the paper backing. Looking forward to watching more, I spend so much time ironing but saw its not really necessary. Time saver! Thank you.

    A suggestion for you Christine: You should cover the backside of your metal label with a fleece or foam as to not be directly against the lining fabric to protect it. The metal backing pieces could wear a hole in it with use. Plus you would not feel the sharpness of the metal when putting items in or taking out of the bag. Using a fabric glue to adhere when the bag is made from vinyl. Otherwise a fusible fleece or foam on cotton fabric. Takes the bag quality to a higher level.

    Very nice bag and excellent tutorial. I've sewn many bags, and I think the only thing I might have done differently would be to finish the edges of the lining to prevent fraying. However, you said this was likely going to see minimal usage, so finishing the lining seams probably not necessary. You did a perfect job of matching seams. I'm not always that good.
    I always enjoy your videos. We like to sew many of the same things.
    Good luck in your shop and with your channel.
    Kay in Dallas, Texas

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks Kay. I rarely finish the seams with my lined bags, as the raw edges are always hidden away from view, and the user is unlikely ever to open it up. If it frays terribly, then I'll overlock the edges, and if they're not lined, then I'll always overlock/serge the edges😁

    For the sticky residue on the vinyl, have you ever tried sprinkling baby powder on it? Or use corn starch if you don't like the baby powder smell. I would think that would bind to the leftover adhesive and be easier on both machine and cleanup.

    Your prices seem a little steep to me. I'm sure they really aren't. How do we sellers here in the USA get people to realize why we set the value of handmade the way we do?
    There are too many people looking for items for free, or basically so. My handmade doilies, in my opinion, are worth alot more than $2.99 a piece. Beautiful 8" doilies, and others should be at least priced at $10. Bigger ones should cost more. People around here won't pay thay.

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  8 месяцев назад +1

      I agree Patricia, but from my own experience, I think we can be our own worst enemies when it comes to pricing. I used to worry too much about what I thought customers would pay, but found that there are far fewer that balk at the price than there are people who don't sew and can appreciate what we make. I'm also very fortunate to have a great tourist trade😀
