    I purchased a very small kit at a craft store for like $5. I’m having a heck of a time getting the stitches to look even and normal. The kit uses embroidery thread, and it only calls for two strands. Would it be easier to learn if I used yarn instead?

    Can the size 13 or 14 needle be used with a yarn that has a weight of 3? (It's 125 m, 50 g). It seems a bit thin for the needles but just wondering if it will still work? Thank you!

  • @tayfan2

    I love all of the fiber arts. I have a ton of wool needlepoint yarn from a shop friend's inventory. I doubt I will be doing any needlepoint. I'd like to use this yarn for something. I know I could use this for wall art but is it durable enough for rugs? It is the Paternayan brand.

  • @loriearii474

    Thank you for the great explanations of the different yarns. I have a question that I can't find the answer. I came across in my stash some 3 ply Needlepoint and Crewel wool yarn. I want to ask if it's useable for this tool and if so, what size? I just got the reg 10. Or, would it be better suited to a punch needle like the Ultra punch? 😊

  • @lizenclosely

    Can you use this for a tshirt yarn? I'd like to experiment on upcycling. The thinnest tshirt yarn we can manage to create maybe? Thoughts?

    • @TheOxfordCompany
      @TheOxfordCompany  5 лет назад

      Yes! I've tried punching with tshirt material and I know people who have done lovely work using that material. #6, #7, and #8 cut strips work in the regular punch and #3 cut strips work in the fine punch. You can experiment with different widths, but that should give you a good place to start. I hope this helps! Best, Amy

    I have a lot of worsted weight 100% wool yarn. Will 2 strands work in the regular size needle?

    • @TheOxfordCompany
      @TheOxfordCompany  5 лет назад

      Yes - worsted weight works well in the fine point needles, but you can you certainly double up and use the regular sized needles as well!

  • @Statuess

    Where did you get that yarn with the gold nuggets which isn't suitable for the punch needle? It's really beautiful! 💖
    I've never done anything like rug hooking before, but after discovering your videos today, it's definitely another craft to try on my list!

    I would love to try this, but there is anyway to do this without having to buy the frame? I’d be happy to buy the frame if I like the craft, but it’s a big investment otherwise.

  • @solatiumz
    @solatiumz 3 года назад

    Hi, I am interested in this craft, but I like the look of the loop rather than the cut pile, can someone tell me the name of the tool I need to create loop pile rugs please? Using yarn rather than a rag rug using material. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for this informative video. Have you used sari silk ribbon with the punch needle?

    • @TheOxfordCompany
      @TheOxfordCompany  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for watching! I have punched with sari silk ribbon. It usually
      comes in skeins of very short lengths knotted together and I just cut
      out the knots and kept re-threading. It's a bit time consuming, but
      does look beautiful! Amy

    Amy, is the Briggs & Little yarn their Heritage line?

    • @TheOxfordCompany
      @TheOxfordCompany  6 лет назад

      We do use the Briggs & Little Heritage line as well as their other 2 ply yarns such as the Regal and Tuffy lines in the fine point punch needles. The Briggs & Little Super line works well in our regular punch needles. I hope this helps! Amy
