Can one use wax or parchment paper and also was that a special pen to transfer the pattern with at the end ?
I am looking at a pattern that is 4x6(feet). I want to add 3 feet to each end and 2.5 feet to the sides. Leaving the center pattern as is, but extending the background color out, and adding a another color as a thin border.
Would it look ok?
Pattern design is a very personal - if you like the way it looks, go for it! There might be settings where it makes a lot of sense to have that much background or you might get your pattern all laid out and find that it looks too empty. I can only recommend that you think about where you rug will live and how you feel about the extra space. I hope this helps.

If the lettering is backwards and you are punching from the top, wouldn't the word be backwards?
Is there a way to enlarge a picture first? I can't find a good solution for enlarging a piece of my daughter's artwork so that I can make a pattern out of it.
I recommend taking the artwork to a copy store - they can enlarge the image for you to just about any size. Staples does it very affordably. Good luck! Amy

What needle size do i use to get 24 st per square inch?
The regular punch needles would be closest - for filling in background they should give you about 28 stitches per square inch. I hope this helps!
