- Expand your #rughooking creativity by designing your own patterns. I'll show you step by step how to get your pattern perfectly aligned on the backing. This method does not destroy your backing like pulling a thread does and is much faster.

I have bought a mini projector. It has changed my life! I can make my drawings, take a photo of them with my camera and then save that to a SD and plug the SD into the projector. I can resize the image to any size I want. I can take photographs of buildings, landscapes etc, and transfer right to the background fabric.
I played around with that method for a while also. When I discovered the combo of an Apple ipad and the app Graphic, that took this process to the next level. Now I can trace a photo in the car, at the park, while eating lunch somewhere, etc. I am developing a course on this process. You can learn more here: howtorughook.com/graphic
May I ask what brand of projector you bought?
@@pennycandyys An inexpensive one off of Amazon for about $100. It takes a thumb drive, a sim card, USB and HDMI and audi inputs if you want to add a speaker set up and has 1080i res. I have an old laptop I don't use anymore and just store my images on it for the projector.
Finally!!!! A great video for transferring a pattern! Thank you!

Hi Cindi, thank you for another awesome video! I’m finding that your views align well with my own, and you’re a great resource (I’m a complete beginner). Can you tell me if this fabric is available in Canada? It’s ridiculously expensive to buy things from the States.
Before I found this I bought Red Devil’s version of the Fiba Crackstop wall fabric, but I’m concerned by how big the holes are. I’m thinking I may have a bit more work to do given that fine details cannot be transferred with this method.
It would be available if a teacher or shop owner brought it in from the states. I don't have that information. I realize the shipping is expensive. Your backing or foundation cloth is the most important part of your rug. Don't skimp on that.
Is Fiba tape the same as crack stop?
Based on a quick Google search, Fiba Tape is for cement board. It would be too narrow for transferring the pattern and would have the same problem in that the material is smaller than the holes. Dotless red dot has holes so small you cannot see them so when you trace the pattern, you can clearly see the lines you draw. There are not gaps in the marker line. You can get the dotless red dot here: cindigayrughooking.com/product/dotless/
Where do I find the pattern you are using, is it for sale?
What kind of paper?
From any kind of paper, but I assume you are talking about the tracing fabric? You can get that here: cindigayrughooking.com/product/dotless/
