12 ga. would be my firearm, but I also have adapters to shoot .45-70, .357, .410, .22lr and 9mm. I'm shooting for a .223 adapter at some point also, so it does work with several other cartridges. My shtf 12 ga. is my H&R single shot with a storage stock that holds a total of (5) slugs, (5) buckshot, 10 birdshot, the adapter for .22 LR and 50 rounds of .22 in ammo straws. I make my own ammo straws with large gauge drinking straws, heat seal one end push in 7-14 rounds depending on length, then heat seal the other end. It works really nice.
As a 7mm prc purist that’s my choice. But I will say 556 is honestly just a good all around cartridge 3300 ft./s easily you can run Vmax projectiles in a shorter barrel for your kids to carry a viable rifle that doesn’t weigh much. So I agree
Good points for the 22LR. I suppose if you wanted a bit more umph, a 22Mag might be a better choice. Being able to carry 150 rounds is a solid consideration.

That is very interesting. I have a couple Tikka's that are 1/4 MOA, amazing rifles. I have a few that have been around 1 MOA. It seems the more recent T3X's have given me more trouble than the older T3's. They are a high value rifle for sure.
@huntsimple9527 🤠 I Bought 4 Different Sako Rifles and All Shoot Amazingly Well! I Would Sell All My Other Rifles (Including Custom), Before I Would Ever Get Rid of My Sako's! 🎯
@@RON-m8c Only Sako I ever had was an A7 in 308. It was crazy high quality and very accurate. Loved 165s. I made my longest shot ever on an elk with that rifle - 368 yards, 165 Partition, very effective.
@@RON-m8c I ran Swift A-Frame bullets in a few rifles and on a few hunts. The last one I remember was an A-Frame in a 7mm Rem Ultra Mag on a moose hunt with my brother in 2006.
We get a week or two of this type of cold each year, sometimes more. So thankfully most of the infrastructure was set up to handle this cold. Water pipes around my area are buried at least 6 feet deep, etc.

Finally picked up a bolt action 22. It’s been on my list for years.!
I have a couple bolt actions! Love the 22 LR in bolt, lever and semi-auto!
@ I now have a semi-auto and bolt. Lever action will be next for me!
308 Winchester.
338 Lapua of course 😂. Okay my real answer is 223/5.56

Agreed on 22 Mag. MUCH more potent than 22LR. I have a bolt action Marlin in 22 Mag that would be a very solid choice!
My dad’s Stevens o/u 22/410 but the downside is my Astigmatism blurs sights for me.
I would cheat & have a Savage 42 Takedown Compact 22lr 410 Combo, why not.
I like your way of thinking on this!
You had me at a 22 lr then lost me at lever action lol but I loved my 3030 marlin but in a 22 idk I'd have to try it lol but great video..
Tube fed lever actions are awesome! Or even a tube fed bolt action would be OK! But I prefer the levers!
12 gauge
🤔 If SHTF, The 308 Winchester! Why? Because, If I Have To Flee Into The Mountains, Their Are Hungry Grizzly Bears Waiting! 🐻
There are hungry grizzly bears all over my hunting grounds!
@huntsimple9527 🤷♂️ That Is The Reason Why I Can't Go With A 22LR, Even Though It Is My Favorite Cartridge! 👍
Model 94/22 magnum
No argument from me. I am a big fan of 22 mag and have several rifles and revolvers in that cartridge!
308 Winchester in a Browning Automatic, Belgium made
Those Belgium made Brownings are amazing. My brother has one in 308, but level action. It is sweet!

@@huntsimple9527 😁 Great! And, Partitions Are Very Effective - Though, I Like Swift A-Frame's (A Bonded Version of The Partition) More! 🤗

How do you keep your pipes from freezing ?
