This housing project has been sold to us as a stimulus to generate jobs. However once the house is built the job dissappears like happened on the SGR.
But if factories for agriprocessing were built instead, the jobs would never end.
Daktari is making it simple and clear. Eric wacha siasa mingi.
I pay the housing levy because it is compulsory. I will demand my house to be at Katikomu Village in Mbooni East sub-county, where I live.
on point
Looks like the anchors are trying to push a narrative. The compulsory is the problem. It’s very simple.
Sweet
Well put wambua
Latif has a warped thinking!
The ownership aspect of the house is the problem. If I pay taxes to educate children, after schooling, that child will help in nation-building later that will benefit all of us.
The idea is good but the implementation is where we need to have a conversation I saw poeple in mukuru having been swept away by the recent rains it's a long and painfull journey ,for us being deducted it will be a mourning period for the rest of our employment period ,one day I would wish to see those poeple neer river living away from the shuckles of being swept away and the pollution I see ...
Eric saa zingine in your effort to defend the KK nonsense you talk nonsense too. What the good doctor is saying is that the constitution allows taxing for public good, but we cant be forced to contribute towards private ownership. Its that clear and simple.
Bwana Latif...😅 There's a process & procedures to utilise public land.... Ruto's law takes public land & turns it into private land for individual gain not public good irregularly. General taxes PAYE is for use for public good... that road in Nakuru, Mombasa, kiambu etc is owned by all Kenyans not an individual ... The houses built will not be enough units to cater for all those who will pay the housing levy.
Nobody owns a public school Erick,a school is for public good, the houses we are being introduced to will be private, built on public land,it doesn't mke sense

Contribute to build a house.
Pay money to buy the house.
Continue contributing to build the housse😂😂😂
My tax is used to put up a house. Why should I buy it if it has been paid for?
Eric, I may not want a house. Why force me to contribute to build for those who want it?
There's a difference between affordable and social housing. The latter if implemented will reduce informal settlements by renting the houses at the same rates as the informal settlement. However the houses must be owned by the county and never sold. This will allow them to be torn down and rebuilt in the future without incurring additional costs of compulsory acquisition.
This guy is a surgeon, I once scrubbed under his procedure!
yes
The guy is spot on, that draconian law must suffer defeat at all cost. Let's do it Professor!
Bwana Eric Daktari makes very good points. General taxes PAYE after collection are divided to support different sectors of the economy including education for public good, there is no specific education tax on kenyans on the other hand housing levy is a public charge specific to housing for private benefit! Eric there lies the difference stop confusing issues
Good Doctor
Spice is maverick
Very bright doctor over there
There is no education levy....but this is a housing levy on certain individuals
What Kenyans need is jobs and good paying jobs at that! The slums will eventually disappear because people can afford to build or buy decent houses.
Again, as the president puts it, the housing project is being implemented like insurance, Majority contribute, a few benefit.
But, generally insurance premiums are not forced everybody. You contribute by choice! Ala!
I like the capacity argument
I support Magare Gikenyi's suit. Well done People's Watchman II (after Okiya Omtata) ✊
kabisa
People's watchman should be you voting wisely..
@@Ericjunior7656 Empty ludicrous unsolicited opinion! I'm a wise voter. You need to preach to confused gullible hustlers.
@@chrisogonas you can't see the context of my comment.. nobody said you are a gullible hustler but it doesn't bother me..
@@Ericjunior7656 I got him well; he's needlessly preaching to the choir.
Eric Latif; in this conversation we have to know there is a difference between common good/ Public good and private good. Public good is where schools and roads are categorised. therefore, allocating funds to build them is allowable under the law. The government cannot purport to tax kenyan to build more schools, and then those schools will be bought and run by individuals. if they do so, those schools cease to be come public. The analogy is the same with the housing as the government is trying to do.
The government tax us for certain individual benefits all the time. Nothing special with housing. By your reasoning, I should not be taxed to to pay for pupils capitation if I dont have kids. Tax me to build the schools for the greater good, then let every parent pay for their kids learning. . I shouldn't be taxed to pay for elderly monthly stipend, yet it's not benefitting me personally. Or free maternity care when I aint giving birth. Why should my taxes go to help flood victims when I'm personally okay? Let everyone pay their own private health insurance. Why should the government tax me for that, when I may never need it?
Well said
@@kennedyndundu7788 You are wrong. Those taxes are not based on need but on entitlement. If you get kids tomorrow you are entitled to those services. Nothing stops a Kenyan from being able to access those services or goods. Those services are for all of us without additional barriers.
There is a clear barrier to accessing this service. Therefore it is not a public good
Exactly!! Eric anajifanya. Can you envisage being taxed towards building a public school and then the school is owned privately by Eric?
@@iamsyourdadi I can't wrap my head around the mental gymnastics. The whole argument is don't tax me if I'm not benefiting directly. Then that should be universal, and not just housing specific. Why should I pay for your kids school fees? Remove capitation, cut the education budget by half and let everyone pay like private school parents. It's only fair. Let that moneg be spent on general public good like roads.
There is a difference between direct and indirect taxing. School tax is indirect with no room to contest while housing tax is direct having a direct implication to the payee
Erico....when i finish paying for my affordable hotel...or soriii....house,can i use it as security for a loan from a bank?,can i charge it to a bank?
Yes you can
Contribution to public schools remain public , the problem of the housing levy is that it will eventually end up into private hands when the houses are finally
sold.
The house levy is wrong. Period!
DR Magare Gikenyi
Isn't his matter already before the court of law?
Daktari has good points but communication walai. Who is called doh!! 😂
I wish they were taking my money to build council houses and schools as has always been..then people can truly have affordable housing..the issue of selling the houses is illegal as the contributer will not benefit or will be required to pay again to own the house.
Many Kenyans try to save money to own a retired home in rural or urban ... CAN THIS HOUSING LEVY CONTRIBUTION HELP?
Affordable houses should be left for counties to gain revenues and no one should own them. Those affordable houses should remain for public/ social to help those work in public, or social settings in Government instead of paying house allowances to workers.
What are you talking about 😅. You want people to keep renting all their lives?? I can tell you haven't been brought up around urban areas where people rent their entire lifetime
Roads , except in very exceptional cases, are public good. Housing is a private good. We shouldn't mix confuse the two
The sound tho....😢
Your right is taken away.
Latif! Sometimes you sound ignorant! He never said that he wouldn’t want to see other people own homes….
eric kenya kwanza himself, 527 imeingia
Build houses but only rent them out.
Lets mention any country in the world where citizen are dictated what to do with their salaries. Like our President when he was poor from University what was his first plan with his salary to buy a house? Like in Western countries the government build affordable cheap houses for low classes people have better plan of alocation whereby no interest of eying where they can enriching themselves from such programs through taxing salaries by force to do whats not their immediate interest Why not go and build these units to the poor in Kibira which is the biggest ghetto in Kenya change their style of affordable with minimal payments if you are sincere and so mindful of helping with these houses of yours.
Daktari needs to up his communication skills. He has a point only making sense to himself
This time.... sioni mkitoboa kotini.
Egetinginye ekengaini kerigie obouindi keagache embura egotwa gesoe mwaye
Why is Erick dying on this hill? He has insisted Sana on defending this housing levy idea. What's the big idea really??
Mngefanya interview na kisii 😂
Somehow naona ni kama watu wanamuonea ruto tu bure
Myself born and brought up in this city under the sun i witnessed alot of organized plans that were gradually messed up with as we grew up watching
Rural urban migration mess
If ruto is genuine and means business and well awachanwe na yeye tu arekebishe mji
Developing a city is not a cowards job look tigers look gulf over night
Talking a different story
Down there Fein hearts to them were never required for them to be where they are today
Kwa hivyo its good to see life in a positive perspective sometimes
Just an opinion na si kwa ubaya nimeonge matusi miye aaakaaa musinichambe tafadhali

😅😅hutachapwa,,mwambie aachane na salary ya wenyewe.pia he first reclaims grabbed lands including his..
Erick you are mixing issues with tax statute. Dr. Margare is talking about housing levy which is quite different from tax. Hosing levy does not help an individual Kenyan because its discriminative in nature.
Eric is being very petty. Guy clearly said you can't own a road coz it's a "public good" in political economy
Jomo mpaka Uhunye tulijaribu capitalism, ika tuweza! Wacha tujaribu communism, kina Ruto, Agwambo, nk.😅😂
Kerigia oboundi
Daktari wacha maneno mingi. Next time usitoe makosa. Dont say "housing is not bad, i just dont like this and that..." next time tell us what you would do
Daktari is not clear in his explanation. Is he a lawyer?
😂😂😂ame some Kabisa despite his lack of eloquence. He is a consultant trauma and general surgeon based at Nakuru level five hospital.
Socialism and communism at best!
