SanSan is getting so big and beautiful! I love how much he helps. And he really had fun throwing the stones in the water. Your garden is so awesome. Your family brings me a lot of joy.
I'm from Australia too! Regarding your tomatoes/chillies/eggplant: they need hot weather and don't like humidity. The hotter it is the fastest they'll grow. If the ground is too cool, and the air is cool, they won't grow properly. So just wait until it gets hot and you'll see them take off and do really well.
Thankyou for such a lovely video. I love seeing how you all adapt to each other while coming from such different cultures. I think you set a fine example, all of you, of having open minds and hearts.
I'm a gardener. I think you might be planting some of your seeds too deep. Some need light to germinate. I had the same problem more than once with veggies not popping up. I love watching your videos. Looking forward to whatever you post next. Wishing you and yours a plentiful garden.
Have been flowing your video for a while. All because your husband’s accent. Today I finally take some time to search where Datong is. It is next to my hubby’s home town. So amazing! I have never visit Qinghai. Maybe I can go see you guys one day.
What a big boy San San is becoming, he hangs on well in the wheelbarrow too! Lol! Once your tomatoes start taking off and fruit start to develop, fertilize well, they need calcium to prevent blossom end rot but if they don’t have enough magnesium, the roots won’t be able to absorb the calcium that they do have and they like soil that is more on the acid side....garden is coming along ! I like following along as I am doing my garden too. We just harvested the last of our apricots, my mom dries them and also makes apricot jam. Harvested lots of eggplant and cherry tomatoes, also patty squash. Just waiting for my early girl tomatoes and beefsteak tomatoes to turn red...
Hi. Try watering with banana skins. That is: put banana skins in water. Leave a few days and water plants. Good for growing. Especially those plants that grows slowly. God bless u n urs
Tomatoes and eggplants takes some time to grow, in climates with cooler weather you would start them inside in pots about a month before planting out. Try giving them weekly liquid fertilizer to boost the growth.
For compost, add 1/2 portion of dried leaves and 1/2 portion of green leaves and mix them well. Add water to the mixed leaves just like adding salad sauce to a bowl of salad, preferably all leaves are wet but no flooding of water in the mixture. Cover the top of the mixed leaves with plastic sheets and preferably keep the mixture dark. Once a week, remove the plastic sheets, repeat the process of mixing the leaves and adding water and covering with plastic sheets again. In about 4-5 months, the mixture will disintegrate into dense dark small pieces like ashes that look like fertilisers. Not sure about your garden and soil, you may even get to see grub in your compost too, nothing to be alarm of.
Having a box with worm composting, even if just composting papers, could be useful in your case. Not for the little amount of compost it'll create, but to help inoculate your soil with little earthworms. The dry soil you're working with at home we have it too in Beijing. It gets cloggy in summer and bone dry in winter, but Don't worry after 2 or 3 years of good care that soil will be a lot better already. I see the vid is already a year old, I wonder how it looks this summer?
It just happened I watched your story on RUclips then I couldn’t stop watching all of your stories with my two boys. You are beautiful woman and you see beautiful scenery.
I will suggest you to raising red worms to get the worm castings using in your garden. Find a corner for a compost pile so that you can throw all the garden waste, kitchen food scraps in of course also red worms. The casting produced from red worms will make aboundant garden production
So happy to see their young son is so expose to the natures! And I simply can't understand why people are giving a thumbs down, why so negative, goodness. Just don't watch if don't like what this happy loving family is doing and sharing it with the world.
Wow it seems you love gardening i grow up in country side but i never try work on our farm my parents are farming they planted potatoes ,brocoli, carrots, cabbage etc. Every 3 months they harvest and deliver in the city to sold them .

San San is growing and very adorable, the garden is really growing well under your taking care, l like strawberry, hope to see that your strawberry will be growing well in your next videos though l can't have advices for you because l don't know how to grow it myself.
you have to start in January with the tomatoes and the like if you want them to be ok. otherwise you need to start with about 10 cm plants, hopefully available to buy commercially around there
I had the very same problem the past with my tomatoes, chili plants p, strawberry until someone told me the need pollination by insects like the bees. So we became bee keepers. Now we have lots of strawberries, chilies and tomatoes. Our various fruits trees have tripled their fruits too.
Hello! Miriam! I have seen many videos created by you. I am curious about that do you find your job in China. You can’t live in the rural village all the time. When your son grows up, they have to achieve a better education and better environment. Of course, you graduated from the Fuda university, and you can teach them. But it’s not a long plan. You can take a break in your awesome garden, but you can’t stay there all the time. You should go to the developed cities to enjoy the modern lifestyle, and you will find that it’s amazing. OK. Anyway, you have your own ideas, and I can’t change that. But if you feel bored in the natural world, you can have a try! Good luck! Thanks for you again, and I learn many English skills from you.
Love your videos! All the things you do together as a family is so heart felt & filled with love. I have fond memories of working at our rustic cottage with my husband & family. I remember all the love & warmth of doing things together. Thank you for the memories. I cherish them.🧡
So cool...once you’ve the land, you can start planting what you love...very beautiful family...you blend very well in this Chinese family....great job👍🏻jia you💪🏻
Here in Hong Kong tomatoes and especially chilli grow really, really well. In fact one can find chilli growing in unexpected places. Bul Bul birds love chillis!
In the Hawaii big island, it rains every night. So I don’t have to water my garden. However the garden is full of lava rock that the dirt has only two inch depth. I have to go to Home Depot to buy the soil to build a flower bed, and very expensive.

SanSan is a tough little boy. He fell (1.15) and got up himself, no hassle no crying.

You live in my mother's dream-lifestyle.
Sansan is a tough wee cookie! The greenhouse is looking great. You could try whitewashing the brick wall to throw out more light?
When you water your garden. Water near the root on all. Watering on the leaves cause insects.

But horse manure is the best.
Also rotating of your crops dont grow the same every year in same place..
Beans can be a little sensitive. Maybe do a soil test of the green house and the outside garden and see if there is any nutrient difference?
Sansan is very vocal in this vlog. Your crop is doing fine although some vegetables are having a tough time.
Maybe the beans outside just need some food? Mine improved with the warmer weather we are having right now, so that could be it too. I hope they shoot up soon! Such a lovely space for your family :)
i am amazed that a western girl living in the most rural area of the China. I am also surprised they have the internet there . I hope she is happy , I wish the best for her lovely family
Lovely greenhouse
Love your garden! Looks yummy
Hi San San!!!! 🤩
The veggies are growing really fast.I feel it was not that long ago when you were building the greenhouse.
Do you have access to soil testing facilities? E.g., community or state agricultural agencies? Soil testing could identify how to optimize your crop selections or to improve the soil for your preferred plantings.
在这个物欲横流的世界,要有多大的勇气甘于平凡朴实的生活,致敬!In this world of material desiring, how much courage you hold to be willing to have a ordinary simple life, salute!
The strawberries need a looooot of sun and water !
