You tell your Mother-in-law I think she is the most stylish gardener I have seen. She is so cute, and has such a cute smile! I love it when she banters with you.
Broke my own record being the earliest watching your video. It's almost 10 in the morning, Saturday here in Ontario, Canada. I am a new subscriber. Your videos are wonderful, heartwarming. Your family are beautiful!
THANKYOU Miriam , I really enjoyed that. And I agree with another comment, that your Mum in law is a very gentle lady. And little San San is such a beautiful little boy.. It is interesting to watch how day life unfolds in your family. Lots of love from me in Australia...🤗🥰🇦🇺🦘
Miriam! I am getting so exited about your garden! I love the whole project! So lucky you are having your mother in law with you! You both are very lucky to have each other. Good luck!
So many negative things have been said about China and here you both are showing your viewers the real China. Not what the media portrays. I have such a deep respect for you and your beautiful kind hearted mother in law. What a generous soul she is. I'm so glad I found you. Best find of 2020. I have so many videos I've yet to discover about your life in China. I can't wait to watch them all and catch up to how you got to be there and how amazing your life is so far.
Congratulations on planting your garden. So nice you can do it side by side with your awesome mother in law! Even your son was helping out. I love to watch the miracle that takes place every year after winter... and soon the garden will be green, with flowers. How beautiful! Looking forward for your next Vlog!
Love your videos. I have a garden too and find working in it so relaxing and rewarding. There is something so wholesome and satisfying with growing your own food :) wishing you and your family a lush and productive garden
I am loving this series! Good luck in your carrot competition. I have grown them in rows, spread out all over, and in containers and they did really well. Root veggies are pretty tough plants😊
Very nice start to your garden! I have clay soil as well here in Elk Grove, Ca. So we had to make raised beds and bring in good soil. I have started growing tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, as well as some herbs, cilantro and basil. I have 2 grapevines, apricot tree, orange and plum trees.....I have lots to keep me busy during these shelter in place times! Look forward in seeing how your garden progresses! Good luck!
I hope the compost will help a lot with our soil! And I'm planning to start a little worm farm, and add worm casting to the soil as well. Do you grow all of it outside, or do you have a green house or similar? Sounds like a dream garden. I would absolutely LOVE an orange tree, my favourite fruit. Don't think it would grow very well here though...
Miriam In China Elk Grove, California hasn’t had very cold winters lately...I don’t even think we had one night of freeze...right now it’s about 88 degrees during the day, so hot already! In the summer we can get as high as 108 degrees or more. But luckily, it’s just a few weeks, then it will average upper 90’s. So, I don’t use a green house, everything is grown outside. I planted carrots, radishes and cantaloupe from seed, and all the veggie transplants were bought from a nursery. Worms will definitely help! I was lucky and they just naturally came to my raised beds, I didn’t have to bring them in. With clay you have to ammend the soil so much! But your organic compost will do the trick. My garden is organic as well. I use natural methods for pest control, like peppermint and neem oil mixed with water and a little bit of soap and spray the leaves...this is the first year I planted my orange tree in the ground. It’s a dwarf naval orange that I kept in a 5 gallon pot, but it was getting too big so I had it planted in the ground. I hope to get lots of oranges in the future. They are one of my favorite fruits too! Love your channel, Miriam! I shared with my Auntie and she is going to share with her brother in law who lives in Sweden with his Swedish wife and family! Maybe they already know of you! 😃
It’s very nice to see the start of your garden! And it’s also nice to know you’ll plant flowers, too. I was always surprised to see your home without a garden of flowers or plants. There is a lot of space outside the house , so I always wondered why it looks so empty of vegetation, so arid and neglected. Sorry for my comment , maybe it’s because I have a lot of space outside the house , too, and we have lots of trees and plants, some of them very very old, like two olive trees I have in the backyard , must be 90 years old or more, my husband is 89 and they were planted by his father.
Lovely videos of ur family. I just started the early spring veg in my garden here in Norway just a few days ago too as it finally became warm enough. Carrots, beetroot, sweet peas, coriander and radishes. My soil is clay like too, but not as much as your's in China.
Hopefully ours will get a little less claylike this year! Interesting that many veggies are the same! They don't grow beet root here, but the other day I found my beetroot seeds and did make a little beetroot bed! Good lick with your veggies!
I think the red vegetable that you are planting is known as Red Amaranth, a kind of spinach. There different varieties, usually green in colour, the dwarf, the type eaten commonly here is the green leaves type and another type which are red colour in the middle of the leaves. I love the pickle stem lettuce in soya sauce, it goes very well with porridge. Nothing beats the freshness of the produce from your own garden.
I love your show! So excited to see how your garden will grow. I'm a big fan of this garden channel by Charles Dowding, no dig garden. He add tons of layers of compost on his soil.
That kid will grow up like we all used to (I am 50). Much more in touch with nature and honest work, the outdoors etc. Unlike most 'smartphone and mall kids' today. Well done! Gotta find him more friends though.
Looking forward to seeing how the planting turn out, yours vs your mother in law. Remember not too long ago when I watched your clip telling us about your pregnancy, see how SAN SAN has grown!? Such a handsome boy now! And how come the husband is not helping out with the planting!?
Härligt! You can use a hose and some pegs to trace out the pathway. Remember to level out the subbase before laying your bricks. Best of luck! Can't wait for summer to see who is going to buy clothes! Keep well
New subscriber here and itz 2am here in Malaysia watching your vid!! You make wonderful amazing videos! Its juz BRILLIANT!! And the background music is perfect for every clip!! Your little kiddo, he’s so darn cute and adorable!! And gud looking !!! I thoroughly enjoy your vids!! Its such a joy to watch!! Cheers!!!
Do you have pigs? I only know about the chickens :D I want to see the clothes you'd buy each other! Also, it's cute that your mother in law is a bit shy. It's also funny that she called you lazy and said looked it up online. LOL.
I know. btw bantering is a pretty good sign of great and close relationship and Mirriam is really blessed to have a loving extended family, I couldn't ask for more !
Hi, Mariam. If my observation is correct, Scandinavia grows a lot of root vegetables, such as beet. Chinese do not seem to care about beet, although the few who love it eat it raw - never cooked. What do you think?
I think that it probably differs depending on where in China you are. Here there grow sugar beet, which is uncommon to grow for personal use in Sweden. They always cook it! They also grow carrots and lots of potatoes.
Start saving money now, I think your mother in law is a seasoned gardener, she might get the most expensive clothes, she loves your son so much it shows on her face every time she looks at SanSan, thank you for sharing looking forward to more of your vlogs
Haha, I'll try! But we won't really know until after summer so I'm not in s rush. Interesting though, how we grow things differently in different cultures!
Your mother-in-law has the most beautiful soul ❤️
Junior is busy with his spade

Yes, I love the changes of the seasons! I don't think I would appreciate spring and summer as much if there was no winter!
Your baby boy is adorable!
Love to see it recorded by you. Different style of gardening, European and Chinese ;>D
Love your videos. I have a garden too and find working in it so relaxing and rewarding. There is something so wholesome and satisfying with growing your own food :) wishing you and your family a lush and productive garden
I feel exactly the same way, it's so special to eat something you've grown yourself! Wish your garden the best of growth too! 😊
