Ya pretty sure it is and maybe a cracked piston. Trying to decide whether to part it or find a motor for it. Not really the project I wanted to get into right now haha
@@hollowaysgarage9332 A cracked piston would cause low compression but not always a knocking. The crank sensor leads me to the crank most likely especially with that knocking when you were cranking it over and when they run with one thats exactly what it sounds like. But yeah I hear ya man diesels are expensive.
Always bleed the air out of the filter with the primer pump before trying to start a diesel that hasn't run in a while, and dont use ether with any engine that uses glow plugs.
Well I have 2 wrenches friend. 1 in each hand, and they are both 10 mm. Not the best way to get the project done but I feel lucky with them. Update: while I was writing this the 10mm disappeared. Now feeling under qualified and prepared.
Hole right in piston on that old fill side for sure you can here that fucker popping through right below that fill game over ....send it to daves auto in Iowa fresh reman he does the best work clean up the body and interior thing will be a forever mint ride man
Usually when the crank breaks, it breaks the webs in the block that support the main bearings, so it's not even worth trying to source a crank. Just get an engine from a wrecker
Dude I just grabbed one at auction, mine snapped there at the 2nd main, I sourced a lb7 short block and I’m fixen to do some videos on it, I got it for $4400 at auction the description said “running when parked” lol complete bs. What have you ended up doing with this one?
I haven't messed with it yet but I found an lmm for 3500$ . I'll probably throw it in it and send it haha. Mine technically still runs but not good at all lol
Man, that was like watching a really good movie that had a horrible ending. I was glued to this video, really rooting for you! I would love to find out the story on this truck...like why was there no oil in the crankcase? I'm going to loose sleep over this lol Thanks And if it makes you feel better, every man I know has said those same things about their shops. lol I'll be back to watch how your shop comes along. I'm ashamed to say I built my 30x30 shop in june of '21 and I purposely put a 8x8 door and a 10x10 on one end and one more 10x10 on the opposite end so I had a pull through on one side and my thought was that it would also discourage me from cluttering up my shop. I'm waiting on parts to swap out the alternator in my daughters trailblazer...it is nosed up to one of the 10x10 doors because my shop is a friggin mess! lol
I'll try to add another video of the shop. I haven't been able to work on much because of an injury but I'll start getting more videos up again soon. As for the truck, the owner of the property lost the property and everything on it to forecloser I guess. Sounded like he got hooked on drugs bad and when I went to get the skid steer from there the place looks like a waste land. I'd imagine he ran the crap out of the truck and broke the crank then just parked it and it sat since. I'll do an update video on the truck. There's not much to it but I did use a few things from it. Thanks for checking out the video and subscribing ,I really appreciate it!
Man duramaxs cam be a real pain in ass with electrical and injectors I bleave your injector are stuck open on returning alota fuel ..... does your scanner tell you the actual fuel rail pressure? When it cranking it should jump up to Thousand of psi quick but dam it sounds ruff
It doesn't but I'm fairly certain the crank was broken. I could actually feel/hear it banging around underneath. I ended up pulling the parts off of it for my truck and selling the rest to a guy who had a wrecked truck with a good motor.
Sadly I stole the exhaust lift pump and intake off and sold it. I just didn't need another headache sitting around and the guy who bought it already had a wrecked van with a good Duramax in it .
Ya exactly. That's half the fun to me. I actually lucked out and was able to make my money back and end up with a bunch of good parts for my own truck. Alot of time and effort but worth it in the end I guess.
Ya you're not kidding lol I ended up pulling the lift pump, exhaust and intake for my truck and sold the rest to a man with a wrecked truck with a good motor.
Definitely sounds like a snapped crank. Lmm’s and Lbz’s are notorious for them. Might also explain the crank sensor code.

The LBZ are not notorious for the crank snapping. That’s only a issue when your pushing high horsepower over 600hp.

Ended up selling it. Scooped up another one I'll put a video up on it soon hopefully.
Sounds like crank snapped
Swap in a good cam/crank sensor see what ya get out of it.
Idk it sounded like the crank was just banging around in there

Valve or broke crank
Sounds like a broken crank the second you started cranking
Tire separation
Crank is toast
Burnt toast

That's Rust man in the coolant reservoir
When you buy your next jump pack, buy an SP Tools unit. They are the very best.
I'll check it out forsure. This noco has been an absolute beast though.
I would fix it and you can have two trucks
Yup I was thinking along those lines. Looking for a good motor for it. If I find one I'll swap it in and do a video on it.
Should make more videos on it
fix it! I just bought one of these engines out of an ambulance for 4k
Sadly I stole the exhaust lift pump and intake off and sold it. I just didn't need another headache sitting around and the guy who bought it already had a wrecked van with a good Duramax in it .
I would have given that truck an engine and rockers.
I ended up selling it and the next owner was going put an engine in it. I had too much going to to justify it.
You win some and you lose some, one can never tell . If it doesn't run it makes it more risky. Better luck next time bro .

@@hollowaysgarage9332 Spare parts and cash back ,good for you bro !.
People don’t take care of anything these days.
It is pretty wild to me. I sure know if I had bought a 40-50k truck it would be kept pretty mint it at least I would try lol
Fix it
How much did you pay for it?
About 5 with some other parts .
How much you need to get out of it?
Dm me on Instagram @holloways_garage
Sounds like a crank
@@trevorschlise1775 ya more than likely a cracked piston and broken crank
now to spend 20K to build an engine.
Ya you're not kidding lol I ended up pulling the lift pump, exhaust and intake for my truck and sold the rest to a man with a wrecked truck with a good motor.
