      Thank you! My son and i did this for his first truck too! One year later.....he has kept it spotless inside and out. When they invest with their own hands it seems to make them appreciate it more.

    Watched the whole thing, got to the end, and laughed when you said "way too much time on your hands". I was thinking to myself, I don't think I would have the patience to do all of those steps to get the body/paint perfect like that.... But, I will sit and watch this whole video lol. Truck looks great!

    Where have I been? This is the video I been trying to find… this gives me so much inspiration to start on my 1994 Chevy k1500, wire wheeled whole frame, and primed then sprayed gloss black, now have inspiration to start sanding down the body and get ready to paint. Awesome video man keep up the great work!

    Look FN GREAT! I'd say that nobody could really ask for more.
    I'm getting ready to do a resto job on my 1997 Z71 EXT-CAB 5.7L 4X4. I have a Skyjacker 2"-2.5" lift kit with front lower A-arms & front diff drop bracket. I also have a 3" body lift kit with a pair of RC tubular Nerf bar side steps waiting to go on, that will hide the frame from the body lift. I'm building this as my work truck & play truck for hunting, camping, etc, which is why I chose the kits that I did. To offer more travel & clearance over stock, yet maintain great on road characteristics. Because she will be on asphalt 80% of the time (I work on mine sites).
    With the wheels & tires, I was rotating mass conscientious too! I have aluminum alloy 20x9 wheels with 4.5" back spacing.
    For rubber, I went with Venom Power XTs 275/60/R20 (33" tall × 10.8" wide) witch yields a great ride, responsive but not too rough handling, decent off-road prowess and good MPG, paired up the factory 3.33 rear gear, makes for a fun, yet practical setup.
    Your video has convinced me to do a digi-camo paint job using stencils with a matte clear coat. This should be a bit more forgiving choice all the way around. From painting, to imperfections, scratches, Arizona-pinstriping, dirt & dust, etc. Plus, a large pattern digi-camo will just look tits (I went with black wheels as well).
    You should be proud of that beautiful red Chevy, she's a head turner for sure!
    Thank you for taking the time to make this comprehensive video! It really shows what it takes to make a great paint job in a garage.
    Do you have any other tips for painting over chrome bumpers?

    • @genuinejake9851
      @genuinejake9851  Год назад

      Thank you and thanks for watching! I like the matte clear. It should be a perfect choice for your project. And it will definitely hide some things a gloss doesn't. Take your time on the chrome make absolutely sure you get it scuffed. Self etch or epoxy primer. I have come to prefer epoxy. Theres a great video on just this topic on Stout Customs channel. He is a great resource. Good luck with your project.

      @genuinejake9851  Год назад

      The paint mixes 1:1 and I bought a full gallon of paint. I still have some left and I repsrayed a couple pieces. All in all 3 quarts of paint, 3 quarts reducer so about 1 1/2 gallons of material

    What would a guy expect to pay for this job, out of curiosity

    • @genuinejake9851
      @genuinejake9851  Год назад

      I sure don't know. My guess is 10k for a basic rust repair and paint. To have the clear blocked smooth and polished after the "basic" paintjob is time consuming so lots of labor which equals lots of money. Thank you for watching!
