- Welcome back to my channel!
Today I am going to take you along on an extreme cleaning of our top load washer. We just recently purchased the Speed Queen TC5 Washer & DC5 Washer a few months ago and we LOVE THEM! I do a quick review in the beginning of the video and then get to taking apart and cleaning our washer!

You've purchased the very BEST washer/dryer available on the market!
I've heard the elctronics are garbage
Low voltage does a number on these. This thing is a beast, 25 loads a week. And it works on a generator😂!
@@Warp3326 You have to plug it in on a low voltage plug-in bar. That solves the issue!
You can remove the base of the fabric softener dispenser
The base of the fabric softener dispenser will pull off of the agitator for easier cleaning then the inside of the agitator needs cleaning as well gets build up in it. I have one of the older ones from 2016. Mechanical controls.
The Speed Queen TC5 Classic Series machines were a smart choice. The new high efficiency machines are just absolute garbage.
Western Massachusetts Elevators totally agree!!
Let's see if these go 7 years without a problem like my former mechanical dial speed Queen.
Pat,
The controls are still manufactured by Raytheon Corporation. That part of the machine will go to the moon and operate at zero gravity.
Putting a laundry measuring cap of hot water into the fabric softener chamber will help prevent the sticky mess fabric softeners sometimes want to leave. Also, a use of white vinegar 6% for cleaning works great to clean and helps with the laundry too, eliminating soap suds in the rinse cycles. Look into Aafresh tablets for sanitizing your washing machine. If you have hard water, two laundry measuring cups of CLR will break down the calcium, and lime. I don't think you should have any rust. Then run another cycle with vinegar or Aafresh and your machine will be clean and smell wonderful.
This weekend I'm going to buy TC5 and DC5, $ 2400.00 I am hoping it will be money well spent.
To clean clothes, you need water. Speed Queen gets it!
Thank you for his! I love my speed queen and glad to know that others look like mine. I can't get the fabric softener cap off though.
Try squeezing it!
Omg this is very much helpful because tiktok has shown me I have to clean my washing machine 😳 which I didn’t really ever think about it. Thanks for sharing 😁
Use heavy duty, hot water is tempered on normal cycle
my wife loves loves her TC5
I love my speed queen. Its a little older than this one and not digital. I just bought some citric acid and plan to do a good deep clean with that and a little oxiclean
Is there a filter that can be cleaned,ie dog and cat hair?
Damn girl! I never seen anyone clean a washer ! Wow amazing wife !
I don't think you mentioned how whisper quiet those speed queens run.
Why didn’t you clean the inside of the agitator underneath the softener? I can’t figure out how to get mine clean because it’s so deep and the piece is not removable.
Never use normal/eco it doesn’t use hot water and also does not do a normal rinse which means that you are putting your fabric softener for nothing 😕
es350 thanks for the feedback!
The TC5 does not temper water.
So it actually gave her hot water because She selected the "pre soak/ extra rinse" option. if you leave the option dial on off, it will temper the water. But this time she did get hot.
Even speed Queen says not to use normal eco. It was called the government cycle during development. It is how they got around the government crap. Use perm press or heavy duty.
Hey i have this washer and have no idea what that small home on the side is for can I put liquids in it because it says bleach ? . 👀👀 help
Im a filthy landscaper but my wife works in an office. My dealer really keeps twisting my arm into a tr5. I wonder why? I feel like they dont want to sell me the more expensive tc5. Weird. I have to buy a washer dryer this week. People are so divided on the tc5/tr5 im kinda going nuts. May just flip a coin
I’m not 100% sure but it could bc they started making them different and the one still has a transmission in it like old time washers, built to last!
Does the tub spin freely if you turn the agitator by hand?
Agitator is seen briefly @ 6:14

Just so you know, as soon as you said "normal cycle" you have made the hot temperature a invalid statement , because Normal cycle is where the hot water gets tempered.
For me i use heavy duty and thats about it
The TC5 does not temper water. That mechanism does not exist in that model. Water temp is strictly based on water inlet.
@@logiqalone8249 The Normal Eco Cycle is the cycle that must meet the DOE regulations. It doesn't matter how inefficient the other cycles are. I have the TC5 and when the normal eco cycle is selected with the options selector knob off, the washer does in fact temper the water where it will fill with warm water for like 15 to 30 seconds then it will switch to straight cold water for the reminder of the fill.
@@logiqalone8249 normal eco messes with the hot water. Also there's no rinse, so its easily the worst cycle.
I HATE my Speed Queen (7000 series)!!!
It has these "special washes", but I only use the MAX on everything in order for my clothes to be washed. I HATE the dryer too!
Supposedly they last 20 years, so I'm stuck!
Worst purchase ever!
Is it terribly loud?
Not at all I love mine, super quiet.
I’d say it’s in the middle. Not quiet but not as loud as some front loaders.

Just bought the TR5. Is the fabric softener dispenser able to come off too?
Ana Seidel: Yes it does. I have the TR5 Model and was able to remove the fabric softener dispenser.
@@albertcarello7133 How?? I have the TR5003WN. I don't want to pull or twist if it doesn't .
@@anaseidel2873 I don't blame you. It's not so easy to do especially the first time. When I use fabric softener I just set the machine for a second rinse for best results. After the second rinse fill is complete I press the pause on-off button to unblock the lid. Then pour the fabric softener right around the edge of the agitator carefully away from the clothes. Resume rinse cycle after closing the lid and press the start-pause button to complete the cycle.
@@albertcarello7133 Thanks! Got it to come off. You have more patience than I. I will continue to put the fabric softener in the beginning rather than waiting for the second rinse. Again Thanks!!
@@anaseidel2873 I'm old school when it comes to using fabric softener in a second rinse and adding it around the agitator away from the clothes.
Using bleach-free wipes on a machine that's made to handle whole loads of whites with bleach 😂🤣😂 priceless.
Bleach is corrosive to almost all metals in the long run.
@@dontdoxmebro Maybe on bare metal, but that isn't bare metal, lol, it's painted. My last washer was over 20 years old when I sold it and bought this same model back in June. The old machine still ran and wasn't corroded and it was over 22 years old.

Think you may of just had good luck, and your bleach use may of been limited. As a truck driver that deliveries hazardous materials I have to legally label the truck corrosive for chlorine, bleach, and peroxides as oxidizers. They destroy metal look at pool trucks; they almost always have no rear bumper. she was probably just trying to be extra cautious as it’s a premium product.
@@dontdoxmebro I'm assuming those back bumpers are raw steel then? Had their connecting bolts been coated with a powdercoat finish or even a bit of rubberized undercoating I doubt that would have happened. As far as the stainless steel drum goes inside the machine, the bleach, usually 1 cup which is being diluted in approximately 25 gallons of water in the tub for about ten minutes, then being pumped out and being refilled with another 25 gallons or so of rinse water, I see that as negligible contact. As I said before the bleach wipes are being wiped on to baked enamel surfaces so it's not even contacting bare metal.
Yes, if you wash in hot or warm cycles. these machines don't need their insides cleaned. Now dog hair is a different story. That needs to be cleaned out. The softener dispenser does need cleaning every so often. Under normal usage, these machines stay clean unlike those front load pieces of junk.
