In 1985 I bought the top of the line SpeedQueen. I had a family of five and used it 18 years with zero service calls. We moved and I gave it to my niece. When they say SpeedQueen is a 20 to 30 year machine they’re telling the truth. I bought a Maytag next and that POS constantly broke. I can’t wait for the washer and dryer in this house to fail so I can buy me this same set of SpeedQueen. My daughter just bought this same set and the deliver guy screwed up the dryer cord. The repair man came and fixed it. When he was leaving he said, see you in about 25 years.
@@rushevents I got an armana that I'm replacing with a speed queen. I'd literally rather go to the laundry mat than deal with that worthless washer. It broke in 3 diff ways with light use and had buildup problems didn't get clothes clean everything..
@@rushevents My family bought a Maytag around 1975 and I had it until 2010. I loved that while it was spinning out the soap it also was pouring water on it. It stopped spinning one day and I finally had enough. That was when I found out that Maytag was bought by Whirlpool so I got one of theirs. Never did like it, did not do a good rinse.
Yeah whirlpool sucks my mother in law had a front loader and one day on our last trip to Georgia mountains the washing machine crackled I turned on the breaker. Not an easy machine to work on. I still have no clue If the power transformer cooked or a capacitor. You were would think a machine that isn't used that often would give you trouble. My Maytag washer will be seeing its 30 year birthday and still running well. Someone gave me a coin operated speed queen but it won't stop filling up water I have to Jerry rig it to work. I may make a Maytag out of it In other words hook up the clock switch from another Maytag machine. Digital boards just are problems no matter what anyone says. I don't need Wi-Fi or any other devices. 73
When we bought our house, the previous owner kindly left us the Speed Queen washer from 1950’s. It is wonderful. Recently our washer died and I’ve been using our speed queen. The water on the wash cycles were so dirty. I do t know if our clothes were being cleaned in our seven year old washer. It’s more work to wring out the clothes and empty the drum with the attached hose. Then fill it with clean water to rinse and wring out again. Drying takes longer because the wringer doesn’t use centrifugal force to get the water out. I feel like I need to learn how to repair the 1950’s model. I may never stop using it. Found your video, and I may consider getting a new speed queen. Glad my mom showed me how to use our old Jem of a washer.
Thanks for the review! Just replaced 25 year old Kenmore washer dryer with SQ. A cutaway display at the store convinced me. SOLID AND HEAVY PLUS MADE IN THE USA
You sound like our experience with Kenmore - bought a set in '87 and they lasted until 2014. They were still going but I decided to replace them just because they were getting long in the tooth. Bought a very cheap set ($500 for the pair) set of Admirals that surprised me by lasting 10 years. But the washer is getting confused on things so I just ordered a set of classic Speed Queens. They are being delivered on Tuesday. Considering my age now, I am sure the Speed Queens will still be working when I am six foot under, so this is the last washer and dryer I'll be buying.
Thanks a ton for your review. I'm 55 and can't stand all these newer machines that don't wash the clothes! They smell! HATE our current Kenmore and ordered a GE pair but won't be in until Jan. Looking around at local sellers and one sells this model, highly rated. Old school washer! YES!!! I could care less what it looks like, just wash my darn clothes right!
Agreed. We bought the TR7 and our clothes are not beat up. Loved my Kenmore for 20 years. It still worked but the tub was starting to lean a little. My clothes come out great with the TR7 washer & dryer. No regrets here.
This was an excellent review. I am, like you were, on the fence about TC5 and wanting to go old school. But after seeing this, I’ve made the decision for TR7. They are both same capacity at 3.2 cu. ft. Glad to hear you can wash a king sized comforter, so that answered my question. TC5 has 2 load selections and 6 preset cycles. TR7 has 4 load selections and 16 preset cycles. TC5 center post agitator is fixed to drum producing a vigorous agitation. Some feel it’s harder on clothes. TR7 center post is independent of drum therefore producing variability in cycles from gentle to heavy duty. Some feel this is gentler on clothes. I was also wondering about (and not a fan of) the locking lid, but pause button releases in a few seconds so that’s nice. Thanks again for a great review. Speed Queen should pay you for the excellent advertising and review.
Thanks so much for this comment. I appreciate it. I’m using the machine as I type this. It’s a tank. It never complains and it always gets the clothes clean.
I actually "read" a comment by a Speed Queen rep that they don't "recommend" washing a king size comforter in this unit, or the TC5, because it's just too bulky. You "can" but it's not recommended. At least that's why I think I remember reading.
@@cameronfeezee4989 Greetings. I have the TC5. And, yes, you can wash a queen size comforter. You obviously must use the "deep fill" option. There are some other settings you can choose, such as "heavy soil", "hot", and "Bulky" or "Heavy duty" setting. No washer is perfect, and you'll have to judge for yourself what you can and cannot do in this washer. I also modified my unit, so I can run any load with the lid still open. That way, while it is filling, I can push the comforter, or whatever I might be washing, down into the water before it starts to agitate. It's great what a little zip tie will do for you. :)
I was trying to figure out if i should get the TC5, because i do other people's laundry as a side gig and some of it comes in VERY dirty. I decided on the TR7 because of your video and it has cleaned everything perfectly. I love the versatility! Thank you 😊
I have the same set of the T7 washer and dryer and absolutely love them !!! Very quiet and cleans our clothes very well. And the build quality is topnotch and built like a tank. I doubt that you'll need it but they also come with a 7yr parts and labor included warranty which is outstanding !!! I also love the extra wash cycles for the various types of clothes. And like you I have no trouble washing our bed comforters...ours is just a queen size but It could easily wash a king size just like what you washed obviously. And just like you mentioned in this video they are also made in the USA at the same plant that has been making speed queen's for over 100yrs. I would buy these again in a heartbeat but these will probably literally outlive me now 😄.
If your clothes are getting wadded up in the dryer, try shaking the wrinkles out each item before putting them in the dryer. It actually makes a huge difference. Also when I wash clothes I add a cup of white vinegar to each load. It really softens the clothes, especially if you have hard water.
I've watched several videos and after this one, I am sold. Was concerned about the slightly smaller tube yet I am a single guy and it is never full anyway! Plus, I would NEVER buy another washer without an agitator. My previous one would tie my clothes in a knot in a big lump. My current GE is frustrating because under no condition will it ever fill to the top. Very, very strange. Thanks for this! Again, I'm sold!
Did you ever buy a Speed Queen? I get so annoyed washing jeans and having to untangle the giant knot of clothes in my LG washer. I think it's on it's last legs so I'm just trying to decide between TC and TR.
@@jennifertiffany363I'm in the same boat as you, trying to decide which is best and I think hubby and I have decided on the TR. Mostly because we don't get super dirty clothes but also he works from home and the laundry is right next to his office door 🙉 so he had to deal with the sound of the (now broken) whirlpool impeller. The TR5 and 7 sound so much quieter! Now if we can only choose between the TR5 and the TR7 😅
I just paid for this washer today from our local, lifetime service dealer. The only two they had in stock was this and a cheaper Whirlpool. I am replacing our cheap GE from that needed fixed every year in the almost 5 years that we had it. I can't wait to give it a try. I have 3 boys, a husband who is a welder, and live on a farm, so we do lots of laundry. Everything from delicate fabrics to jeans and dog beds. Sounds like I picked the right one.
Does your TR7 make kind of a whistling sound at spin after the rinse? Maybe it was from it being empty, I just got it so I was just kinda rinsing the tub.
I bought the last of the mechanical knob non eco models 11 years ago. Been a work horse. First time I had a machine that never thumped or bounced around no matter how we loaded it. Wife thought 800 bucks back then was a bit much, was twice the price of other washers at the time. She soon realized it was the perfect machine. I carried the old machine out by myself. Bringing this one in I needed help from my 2 sons.
The local appliance store years ago had cutaways of the leading washing machine brands and when I saw how much better the Speed Queens were built, I was sold. I like the top loaders simply because I don't like bending over anymore. Our friends from Australia visited us and I was surprised when they told me that they had Speed Queens as well...and for the same reasons. Good video.
Excellent machine's.. Thank you for all you information and review. A real washing machine that fills all the way with water and agitates.. This is how clothes should be washed.. Old school washing action with plenty of water in a new machine..
Just purchased this set after fighting with a GE front-load set for the past ten years, fixing and re-fixing stuff on them. Looking forward to having something I can depend on. Our only concern was the capacity, but you stating it can handle a king size comforter eases my mind a bit.
Thanks for this excellent review. Just bought this pair today after a lot of research. My family just doesn't need the rougher agitation of the TC5, and my current 20 year old top loader has been leaving tears in my shirts for years. I knew the TR7 would work better for us based on the gentler agitation. I am so happy to finally upgrade.
Is there a way you can open the lid of washer and that washer keep fooling the tub with water? And also keep the lid open while the machine is washing clothes. When I open the lid, the washer will stop filling the tub with water. I like keep adding clothes as washer is filling tub with water and I also like seeing how the clothes are being washed :) My husband was able to do this trick with the classic version TC5 that we sadly left behind when we sold our previous house. Now we just got this new version few days ago because the other one was out of stock in the local appliance store.
I just purchased this Washing machine. I love it so far. It is So quiet. I don't even know how to act. My last washing machine was so loud. Thanks for the Review. I cant wait till I get the dryer.
Just bought this laundry pair to replace my 1999 KitchenAide Superba set. The dryer is on back order the model is so popular and I have to wait an entire month before delivery. I've been saving for 18 months for this. It better be worth it.
Ive been waiting for my set to arrive since April 7,2021 and I still haven't got them:( Patiently waiting after my 12 year LG front load dryer stopped working :( Thankfully for now my washer is still going hopefully it continues until the new set comes!
I like your laundry room set up... Very nice... The Speed Queens are solid, looking forward to getting mine hopefully soon... Thank you for your review...
Thanks for your detailed and opinionated :-) review of the TR. I was worried about the TC being a bit rough. That's what I didn't like about the old school American washers when I came over from Europe 20 years ago. Sounds like the TR is a perfect solution. Plenty of water and gentle but effective wringing. Glad I watched your review.
Wonderful review! Thanks so much! You're concise and answered every question that I had to ask. Thanks for showing the inside of the machines, too, and lastly for waiting to review the product until you had used it for a while. Really, really appreciated!
My friend told me that the circuit board on the TR7 is enclosed in a metal casing, and that the cheaper ones do not have it enclosed. Even the Speed Queen with the analog gauges has a circuit board, so one might as well get the TR7 since it’s circuit board is enclosed and protected.
We just got the TR700 set yesterday. We got a $300 rebate which made the TR700 cheapter than the TR500. I can already see the quality just in the weight of the machines alone.
Great video. I bought a TR7 series pair today. I have an older Kenmore Oasis pair that we loved. The transmission went out on the washer and the repair was cost prohibited.
Awesome video! My GE died. I hated it; with its low water and no agitater. Clothes were lint filled. Just yuk!!! Repairman said 650 to fix it. Transmission went out. Yay!!! I asked his recommendation. It was SPEED QUEEN! Today I started personally looking at them after finding a lot of locations ran out of them. Small town hardware had TR5. $1229. Next store just got restocked. TR3, TR5, TC5 & TR7. I Was wanting simple dials to turn & Different water levels! Sales lady went through each with me answered all my questions. I was leaning towards TC5. Took another look at waranty and it's a no brainer. Went for the TR7. With the price being lower than the TR5 in the small town! I can't wait to do wash!
I've owned and washed with Speed Queen for over 30 years. My first SQ washer lasted 20 years and I have had my current SQ since 2007. The problem I have with the new wash system, which SQ introduced in 2018, is that it does not clean as well as the original SQ 210 degree agitator stroke. The model featured above applies what is historically referred to as an agitub, or tub that turns in opposite directions, rather than an agitator that moves independently to circulate clothes in a toroidal motion for cleaning. Agitubs have been around before and were quickly discontinued because they are less effective at cleaning and stain removal than traditional agitator washers. All the above machine does is slosh clothes back and forth without creating strong enough currents to continuously circulate the clothes from the top to the bottom of the tub and back up again. With my current Speed Queen, even if I overload my washer, the agitator moves clothes down to the fins, where most of the cleaning happens and back to the top in a constant motion. Inside the TR7 load circulation is significantly less vigorous and the larger and heavier a load is, the less toroidal movement occurs. It seems to me that SQ have, with this design, dumbed down their washers. The above machine has no breaks to stop the tub and, thus, requires a lid lock, which I find annoying. My current SQ can stop its tub from full spin in under two seconds. Using the agitub SQ have done away with the transmission that oscillates the agitator. The current agitator and tub design of the TR7 does not appear to adequately optimise the momentum that is created when the tub turns back and forth. Perhaps SQ could revise the tub and agitator design of the TR7 to create a more vigorous and effective wash action. I am still of the opinion that instead of redesigning an already perfect wash system, which has proven itself over many decades, SQ could have incorporated eco functions to meet new government standards and allowed customers to override these functions if they so choose for a traditional wash and rinse. They could also consider re-introducing a suds-save function to reduce water use. I understand that SQ are again offering models with conventional agitation. However, these models are very limited when it comes to cycles and other options, such as manually selecting water levels. I would like it very much if Speed Queen made available a top loading washer with the cycle and program options of the TR7 and the traditional agitator driven wash system.
When the Tr series debuted in 2018 it used very long strokes and performance was pretty mundane however the machines one now on their thir redesign and now use only short strokes. Their performance has substantially improved.
My TC5 does have the drum brake so I'm not sure where that statement is coming from. The drum "indexes" during agitation, and also stops quickly when finished spinning. I usually wash full loads and use the deep fill option but on occasion when I have used the eco fill for smaller loads it seems to add the perfect amount of water for the load it's doing. Never understood the need for so many different cycle options as the only two I've ever used on any washer is heavy duty or knits/delicates.
Just bought the TR7, a boy we’re we missing out. When our old dryer went out we bought a speed queen dryer. A year after buying the dryer our old washer went out and we bought a Maytag washer, never cared for it, didn’t get our clothes clean, had to be repaired once the cheesy warranty expired and finally it died. Man what a difference. The dryer is still kicking so we kept it even though I’d like a matching set… 8:33
Appalachian Home Appliance, my Speed Queen Store. I have been providing Speed Queen Home Laundry for twelve years. I have had four minor issues and one of those was user abusive use.
We've had our speed queen for almost 10-years and we've never had to put in a service call. Speed Queen is definitely big league when it comes to washers and dryers. They're about 30-lb heavier than the other laundry machines because of the metal gears and other mechanical parts which makes them mantinace free for years and years. It obvious that it's never going to break down, so I guess if we want a newer model we'll have to put our old one up for sale...or not..!!
I got my new TR7 speed queen washer today and have already run three loads from permanent press to heavy duty. I’m coming from a Frigidaire front loader HE machine purchased some 13 years ago which I hated from day one. How can you expect any clothes getting clean using about 3 gal. Of water? (Just a guess) Not to mention the gross moldy smell that was a constant problem. I promised myself that as soon as there was an issue I’d replace it. (Kudos to the Frigidaire for lasting 13 years!) Well I’m thrilled with my TR7 purchase! My clothes came out clean, smelling fresh and cleaner than they’ve been in years! The machine is gentle, quiet yet thorough. My husband and I are seniors, don’t get our clothes very dirty and don’t need them “beat to death” to get them clean. Day one and I’m already happy with my purchase. Can’t wait to do more loads❣️
@@juliejasinski917 I didn’t get a new dryer but my Maytag dryer is almost the same as the one shown here (size, height, hinge placement) and I have no problem accessing it. I’m wondering if you mean bending over to get clothes out of the bottom of the washer tub…it is pretty deep but I’m 5’5” and have no trouble.
After using the TR7 washer (didn’t get the dryer) for a couple weeks I found it just didn’t clean stains like grease and heavier soiled clothes very well. Also took pretty long to complete cycle. I didn’t feel that clothes were moving much. I purchased from a very reputable appliance store who gave 30 days to return for complete refund or exchange so I exchanged it for the TC5. I’ve had it over a year now…love the way it cleans our clothes etc. With the old school agitator the clothes come out clean and a regular cycle only takes 32 minutes. I’m very pleased with it. It is significantly louder than the TR7 so if that’s an issue it’s probably not for you. I did like the TR7’s overall look, the ability to customize the types of wash cycles, and it was very quiet but it just didn’t get my clothes as clean.
@@marijane8665 glad you got to try it, and a double blessing to be able to return it after 30 days for another. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.
I bought a maytag dudd. So in late 2023, saved & bought just the SQ washer T5 delivered for $1650. Kept the maytag dryer bc I usually line dry my clothes. Its 2025 and I love it.
Only thing I didn't like about my SQ washer was the lid safety switch. I bought an override device so I can open it and peek without it shutting down. The override device cost $3 for 50 of them, some people call them "clothes pins" but I use them to clip open bags of frozen food.
I had just about convinced myself to go with the TC5 based on some reviews of the "perfect clean" when SQ first released, but your video has got me reconsidering. What I had read was the independent agitator was the way to go for the true SQ clean experience. I'm going to take a second look at the TR7. Two kids, two dogs, I want clean and quality. I'm so done with my FL.
I went to get the TC5 as they got 5 in a Tuesday. I got there 3 hours later & they were already sold out. The Speed Queen factory in my state had a roof ripped off in a tornado 2 weeks ago so I doubt anymore are coming in for awhile so I got the TR7 & called it a day lol.
@@blognewb researching; did you buy the FL? if so, what do you think? I've used all the "best" non agitator ones for over 30 years just "living" with clothes coming out with stains and I am FINALLY fed up
These are really cool models but if you live in an area where water is expensive or scarce like I do in the desert Southwest, be aware that these models can use up to 40 gallons per cycle. An alternative, although much more expensive, is a speed queen front loading washer. The front load washer that speed queen makes is almost as reliable as these top loaders but uses dramatically less water. Just a thought on an alternative.
@@cheynobi after 2 years I have absolutely no complaints about this machine. It works great for my family of 4 that has a lot of laundry from sports, etc
Oh, a machine that still has a WARM rinse option and still a tap water Hot! I'm still holding onto my early 2000's front loader because it still has those too. These TR 7000's are starting to grow on me, though!
I read the manual for the TR7, and I didn't know there are even MORE cycles under the "Special Cycles" where you can select the type of clothing such as denim, super soiled, waterproof, athletic, etc., and the soak, wash, and spins are adjusted accordingly. Are they on a card that comes with the washer? I like that the pre-wash will stop when it's finished so you can go ahead and add the next amount of detergent, and re-start it when you're ready. The soak is really nice too! My dad has the classic (2017) type, and the tub size is bigger than you can tell on videos. I'm guessing the TR series has the same size tub. My front loader is finally starting to have trouble... It had a good run of almost 20 years (Kenmore/Frigidaire), and I doubt I'd ever see that life again with a new one! But these Speed Queens are still built tough!
government regulations will not allow a warm rinse. I have a 2017 classic model with more agitation than this guys model. Being old school controls, you can set the dial to wash and fill with warm water then turn to rinse and let it finish. for less soiled clothes you can select light soil. These new models will accept straight hot water from your heater and not reduce the temp with cold water., which is a good thing for sheets, towels, and whites. I am still afraid of the circuit boards so I would purchase the TR5 if i were you.
@@fredwiley3731 all speed queens use a circuit, digital board..... even the tc5. all the Sq knobs are now on a digital board, so no real difference. a repair tech told me reliability went up when they did this too.
Just helped me decide to buy one. Have had a new Whirlpool for almost a year and it has already been having problems (not like the older models which were very good). Just going to use the money to fix it for a new Speed Queen.
I appreciate your review. I made a huge mistake buying Maytag with low water level. I have to set it bulky or constantly have to open the lid to add more water.
Our Samsung started to have problems 2 months out of warranty. Ready to buy a Speed Queen but we can’t decide on the model. Do you still like this one? I know people have complained about it.
I agree we don't need a million different settings. That said I really don't need a light up electrical panel, give me the old knobs and I'm good. Did they eliminate the draconian water level laws? How are they able to fill all the way up like that? Do I need to run out and buy one of these before the water police show up at the Speed Queen plant and shut them down?
If you want knobs, the TR5 is your model. It washes the same as TR7 but has similar knobs to TC5. It is the cheapest of the 3 models. Warranty is 5 years instead of the TR7 7 years. Speed Queen has eco efficiency settings that make it legal, so they are not violating any government standards.
Getting rid of an 8 month old Whirlpool top loader that the local repair guy won't even touch, even when getting paid by Whirlpool themselves! Can't wait to pick this up tomorrow.
Just bought these same models after incredible reviews….everywhere. Had Samsungs for four years broke around year two with suspension problems after replacing them twice we called for service. Four different places said they won’t even fix them. One place strongly suggested just trashing them, which we did. In hindsight, I was never satisfied with the quality of the clean and the dryer never fully dried clothes. So much for energy savings.
I just purchase the TC5 machine and love it, HOWEVER it doesn't spin as fast as my old Fisher/Paykel machine. Still does a great job.. Thanks for your video..
i had a ge that only lasted 4 years until the motor locked up because the tub seal broke and rusted out the tub after going from three different machines from lowes in a 10 years i finally bought a speed queen mine is the tr5 and i love it better then the cheaper washers its the best washers to own
Thank you for the review. It's helped me make a decision. Question for you: Can you tell me where you got the cart in between your washer and dryer? I love your setup.
I just ordered a SQ because I hate my Samsung washer so much. It took almost two hours to "wash" I use that term loosely, a couple of sheets and pillowcases. I said that's it, no more, etc. It will take three weeks before I'll get delivery and installation - so long. I never thought I'd see the day that I would be so excited buying a washer. I bought the TC5 washer,
Back in June I got the TC5/DC5 washer dryer set just because I wanted traditional dial controls instead of the led panels and I wanted the traditional transmission as it's just my preference and I love em. I got them from a small local dealer that's been in business since about 1860 and if I ever need service for them, they service what they sell. I usually use the heavy duty cycle with the deep fill. Mine have the 5 year warranty but they're expected to last 25 years and I've never noticed it stretching my collars or anything like that. I just get nice clean clothes. Looks like you're missing the grill cover for your lint trap, or do the 7 series not come with them? To me, a dryer is a dryer is a dryer so there's not much to say about them. I always use the timed dry cycle and half the year I dry my clothes out on the line instead of using the dryer anyhow. Only reason we got the matching dryer was because the old lady wanted them to match, LOL!
These were just delivered today, so I haven't yet done my first load. I feel a little silly asking this, but my question is...what wash cycle is considered 'regular' or 'normal'? The only 'normal' I see is 'normal eco', which is the high-efficiency cycle. I can't seem to find any documentation on this!
@@Archifx Thanks! I ended up using Heavy Duty on my first load (towels and whites) and that worked. I had to keep going to check that the wash was still going, because it was so quiet!
Have the washing machine TR7004. Warranty is 7 years now (Canada). Used to be 10 years. Not super satified. I might have had repaired my 15 years old Whirpool that was an excellent machine (ceramic drum just to tell you). After watching your video I will make a few tests to see if it improve. I've set mine at Normal Eco cycle, warm/cold winter and cold/cold summer, Auto fill and Medium soil (rarely working cloths). Our bounced a few times. We even had some water out. And cloths are not as clean as I'd like. IMO, except if you have working cloths, the fact that you have to use hot water, soak and extra rinse altogether for normal cloths is an indication that it's not that good. Time will tell for reliability.
Just came across this video…do you have video or can you post a video on how you wash and what settings you use. I have not like how mine has been cleaning but I haven’t been using the soak option. I saw you used the special cycle….any guidance you can give to help me love my washer like you live yours would be great!!
I was in the same boat …..I went with the tr7 ……basically the only reason was the washer and dryer are in our living space in the house soooooo ….I was told it was not as loud as the tc5 and also obviously they look alittle more modern …..washer and gas LP dryer delivered, haul out and set up 2700$ total
@@stifflers69mom1 I ended up getting the TC5 and it is a little loud, but we have a door to our laundry room so I think you made the right choice. Very happy with the washer so far. Good luck with yours too!
How often do you see an error message that causes the washer to stop until you correct the problem? I have an LG and it constantly stops due to an "unbalanced" error which results in taking 2-3 hours to wash one load.
I bought this August 1, 2021 I.loved the way it washed my clothes. However Thursday of last week, it will not turn on. Yes the outlet works, yes I've tried it in another outlet. I unplugged it, replugged it in, nothing! Then I can't get anyone to come and service it because either they say the don't come to my area, or stupid stuff like, the person who services the warranty products is out. And as of right now, I have no washer. I bragged this up, and 1200$ later not one light comes on the control panel and it does not turn on.
Does the lint trap catch socks often? Saw someone post a video about that as if it were constant and that the piece attached to the door didn't prevent it
I have had a SQ now for 7 years; Washer and dryer. The dryer had a timing issue and SQ sent someone to repair quickly. Now one of the cylinder baffles in the dryer has come off and that part is out of warranty so I am having to pay for that as well as service call. Disappointed because I expected it to last longer without repairs.
We just bought the new TR7 and are VERY confused by how it sounds. It fills and then every 20 seconds or so we hear the water “swish” as opposed to the traditional agitator sound of constant “swish swish swish swish…”. Is it running right??? Are they THAT quiet?
I am moving into a new house I want speed queens me and my wife can’t decide tr7 or tc5. We need to be able to wash king size comforter to. I read the tc5 cleans better and faster
You will have these machines for at lease twenty five years and you won’t regret your purchase. It’s best to use the automatic dry setting for best fabric care and the lease disintegration of the fabric from drying. Congratulations. Use them well. Car polish them twice per year and you’ll love them.
The new apartment I moved into has impeller top loading washer by Maytag and it didn't clean my clothes well and on top of it, it pilled all of my cotton clothes (even on delicate setting)and maade my clothes look worn out. I was very upset that all my clothes were ruined. This never happened with my old agitator washer. I am moving soon, and looking to purchase new washer and dryer. Does your Speed Queen pill and damage your clothes as well? Another question is , does it clean well even with 30minutes of wash cycle?
I just bought a house and took a risk and bought Tr7 and Dr 7. They literally are the best washer and dryer. My clothes came out super clean without pilling. Dryer dried my clothes quickly. Both machines are so sturdy that they are quiet and don't agitate while being operated. I can safely say speed queen is the best in the market
Tell me about your dryer. I’m assuming its electric. I really wanted a Gas dryer because they get hotter and dry faster however they are 60 days back ordered. I can get the TR7 electric tomorrow. If yours is the electric TR7 does it get hot and dry thoroughly? Great review by the way... perfect timing for me. Appreciate ya!
Delivered today...my wife did 6 loads today. 1 large, 3 med, 1 bedding, 1 King comforter....These are worth every penny. Your review is spot on! Thanks again!
Ok, I watched your other video on the king size comforter,I am actually sold after this one. I appreciate your honesty and information.
The old maytags were awesome. Whirlpool has destroyed what used to be the best home system out there.
Excellent review. Speed Queen is worth it IMO. Reliability is the key for me, and they are built to last 20 to 25 years like appliances used to.
I have been thinking about getting one of these models for a long time. You just finalized my decision - thank you for the great review!
Hah! Same here, just replaced our 20year old kenmore
So glad I saw this, I was having second thoughts on my recently purchased TR7. From your video it really put my main fears to rest.
Best machine I’ve ever owned. Using it right now. Never fails to actually clean the clothes
TR7 is a dud, it doesn't wash ...
At least that's why I think I remember reading.
still loving? I'm new to SC and just beginning my research, I am a wash woman for sure haha; I wash every day: lots of towels, king bedding etc
@@peterpulpitpounder so which model do you have and can you do your comforter?
Nice to know! I've been using a cap full of Calgon water softener with every load and I'm sure the vinegar will be a lot more economical.
If you are single, get the TR7. If you have a family I would recommend the TC@@jennifertiffany363
Sleep good tonight. You made a great purchase. It’s going to exceed your expectations!!
Does your TR7 make kind of a whistling sound at spin after the rinse? Maybe it was from it being empty, I just got it so I was just kinda rinsing the tub.
How do you like it so far?
@@vanessasmith779 I like it a lot. We have very hard water but the clothes come out clean. We also use a water softener.
how do you like it?
Looks like the "Vitamix" of washing machines!!! Very nice!!!
I like keep adding clothes as washer is filling tub with water and I also like seeing how the clothes are being washed :)
My husband was able to do this trick with the classic version TC5 that we sadly left behind when we sold our previous house.
Was it?
I like your laundry room set up... Very nice... The Speed Queens are solid, looking forward to getting mine hopefully soon... Thank you for your review...
Thanks for your detailed and opinionated :-) review of the TR. I was worried about the TC being a bit rough. That's what I didn't like about the old school American washers when I came over from Europe 20 years ago. Sounds like the TR is a perfect solution. Plenty of water and gentle but effective wringing. Glad I watched your review.
I’m glad I could help. It’s an amazing machine hence the impromptu review. 👍👍
Thanks for mentioning this ...
The TR7 doesnt wash as well though.

How do you like the TR7?

Thank you! Any difference between the two, do you know, I'm getting mixed reviews?
Their performance has substantially improved.
the 2018 SQ was a KNOWN dreadful unit; so they went back to their original design in 2019...
Secular anarchism, you for taking the time to explain this more thoroughly. I’m about to get a Tr7, and I appreciate the extra info.

I’m in the apartment industry, these are the best machines by far.
You've just cinfirmed my choice of a replacement washer machine. Question is how to clean the filter maintaining the machine
Nice Laundry Room remodel! Great information about the TR7 also!!
We are replacing a 40 year old set with these. Haven’t received yet was worried about classic vs perfect wash. Thanks for the video
@marijane do you have any issues with bending over for the dryer?
@@juliejasinski917 I didn’t get a new dryer but my Maytag dryer is almost the same as the one shown here (size, height, hinge placement) and I have no problem accessing it. I’m wondering if you mean bending over to get clothes out of the bottom of the washer tub…it is pretty deep but I’m 5’5” and have no trouble.
how are you liking them?

Only thing I didn't like about my SQ washer was the lid safety switch. I bought an override device so I can open it and peek without it shutting down. The override device cost $3 for 50 of them, some people call them "clothes pins" but I use them to clip open bags of frozen food.
Exaaaaaaaaaaaaaaactly...
Just curisous, what's the problem? All you have to do is pause it then resume. Again, just curious.

Is your speed queen still working in 2024? Did you have to repair it at all?
These are really cool models but if you live in an area where water is expensive or scarce like I do in the desert Southwest, be aware that these models can use up to 40 gallons per cycle.
An alternative, although much more expensive, is a speed queen front loading washer.
The front load washer that speed queen makes is almost as reliable as these top loaders but uses dramatically less water.
Just a thought on an alternative.
That shelf between the machines, how did you mount that shelf to the wall? Or is it a table with legs?
Just purchased a Speed Queen this morning. It will be delivered on Saturday to replace my current “smart” Whirlpool machine 😒

I’ve never seen an appliance with any bells or whistles on it before is that some old vintage thing?
I'd love to know where you got your cart with the wood countertop between your machines? I need one!
Hi, I'm checking to see if you still have these machines. If so, how are they holding up? Thank you for your time and help
Still have the same setup, use them daily. Still going strong. Had to replace the heating element in the dryer ($95) last year.
@@Archifxwas the heating element replacement covered under warranty? Also disappointing to hear a replacement was needed in the 3 or so years so far.
P5 all day long.
@@Archifx Thanks! I ended up using Heavy Duty on my first load (towels and whites) and that worked. I had to keep going to check that the wash was still going, because it was so quiet!
seriously looking at purchasing this set and want to know that it does clean.
Great review!! I just ordered this washer and dryer. I had LG before these.
Can I ask why you chose this model over the TC5? I am stuck trying to decide between the more updated TR7 and the classic "tank" TC5.
@@jasonreehoff4209 thanks for the reassurance
How often do you see an error message that causes the washer to stop until you correct the problem? I have an LG and it constantly stops due to an "unbalanced" error which results in taking 2-3 hours to wash one load.
Haven’t seen it yet.
Could it be that your machine is not level?
Thanks for the video. I really appreciate your detailed review. Do you have a video of your laundry room remodel?
Thanks for your review. Side question where did you get that nice table between your washer and dryer?
Made it. I did a video on this stuff check my channel
I am moving into a new house I want speed queens me and my wife can’t decide tr7 or tc5. We need to be able to wash king size comforter to. I read the tc5 cleans better and faster
Where did you get that storage cart? Looks good
You will have these machines for at lease twenty five years and you won’t regret your purchase. It’s best to use the automatic dry setting for best fabric care and the lease disintegration of the fabric from drying.
Congratulations. Use them well. Car polish them twice per year and you’ll love them.
Thanks so much!!! I agree
Car polish?
@@donaldcedar7574 Indeed. It keeps the paint protected and shined and rust free.
@@LlyleHunter great idea!
Is the washer a TR7000 or TR7003?
I need to know where you got that table. I was just telling the wife I would make something just like that.
Did you consider getting front loading vs top loading? If so can you explain your reasoning for going with top load?
Top load so I could have an agitator. I don’t think the tumble process works well on super soiled clothing or dog bedding
The dryer is first class and as good as the gas dryers I’ve run in the last. Yes. Get it and don’t second guess your decision. It’s an epic dryer
Thanks for the quick reply...getting both tomorrow. Getting rid of the LG. Top of the line lasted 5 years. I’m sour to put it mildly. Thanks again! 🙏🏻
Delivered today...my wife did 6 loads today. 1 large, 3 med, 1 bedding, 1 King comforter....These are worth every penny. Your review is spot on! Thanks again!
never used the meyers oxi booster for lack of better term, when do you add this? is this a replacement to non chorine bleach?
