“The Falcon and the Snowman” is a great film that definitely deserves a 4K upgrade. 👍 Kino-Lorber released it on Blu-ray a few years ago, not sure if they still have the rights or not.
Oh good to know... I didn't realize Kino had released it on blu at one point. But I looked it up, and it appears to be long out of print now (it was a 2015 release) and is going for like $60-$100 new. Fortunately, 101 Films has a reasonably priced blu-ray that I just ordered after seeing your comment. I just had to have it! LOL! Still hoping for a 4K release someday though. Anyway, yes, such an awesome film. I can't wait to see it again... it's been probably at least 20-25 years since I've seen it.

An interesting selection. Under Siege is in my top 50 films, i'm surprised that's not on 4k, i remember a lot of hype when it was released. I only watched it a few years ago, but obviously loved it. A lot of the others you mentioned i've never heard of, but will check out some.
I remember the hoopla when Under Siege was being filmed near home in south Alabama, main shooting set was the permanently anchored USS Alabama ww2 battleship in Mobile Bay.
Regarding THE KEEP, apparently Kino came very close to releasing the film on Blu-ray (sourced from a 4K restoration), but it was pulled from them at the last minute. The theory is supposedly that it's down to copyright entanglements. It may be that Mann himself doesn't want it released for one reason or another.
Oh ok good to know. Well apparently, there's been a rumor going around that Vinegar Syndrome may have it as soon as this Black Friday. But it sounds like from what I was reading, 4K may be a bit too much of an ask, just due to the availability of the source elements (which may be lost or something). So it's possible we may only see a blu-ray release of this. But I'll take whatever we can get!
I just mentioned that film in my last video on movies from 1982 (althoughI was slightly off on that one... I didn't realize until after I made the video that it actually came out in Dec. of 1981. Oops!). But I absolutely love Taps. Used to watch it all the time. Thanks for watching!
The Keep is supposedly coming to 4K from Vinegar Syndrome. It is speculated that it is one of the "mystery" titles that will be unveiled for their Black Friday sale next week.

It's usually the partner label stuff that sells out more quickly, just due to smaller production runs). I also pre-ordered Congo. I don't think I've ever seen it, but it looks fun, and I just love those VSU boxes.
@@screamingeekmedia Dude, it's a good thing we grabbed the Keep when we did... it is now sold out! Holy crap was I way off base on this one LOL. And that's just for the limited edition stock... even their standard edition stock is down to only about 400 copies left. VS must be gaining in popularity.
I remember catching Dead Alive on the IFC channel years ago, probably over a decade ago at this point. Everything about it is over the top, not just the gore, but the comedy as well, It is a cinematic assault of slapstick gross out comedy spatter horror. It is both amazing and exhausting to watch. It is wild to think that the same team that made it went on to make the Lord of The Rings movies

Another movie that just came to me that I would like to see get a 4K or even just a new Blu Ray is Project X (1987) not to be confused with the found footage teen comedy from 2012, the 87 Project X was a great kinda comedy, kinda drama, kinda thriller, hard to pin down kinda movie. It had a Blu Ray and DVD release from Anchor Bay a long time ago, but those are out of print
I remember that movie! With Matthew Broderick, right? I only saw it once many years ago, but I'd forgotten all about it until you just mentioned it. I seem to remember enjoying the film. Great choice!
I wrote down your list and I hope to catch these on streaming hopefully. Like you I hope these movies come out on 4k but it doesn't hurt to watch once before we pay the new outrageous prices. Staring at $35 to now $60 plus. Ridiculous 🤬
Yeah unfortunately, inflation has really impacted physical media prices (along with everything else). Hopefully we'll start to see those prices creep back down over the next few years. Although the more of a niche market collecting becomes, the more I can see the prices being a reflection of the more limited nature of these releases. But yes, I do believe you can find many of these titles on streaming to preview them. Thanks for watching!
The falcon and the snowman was an orion pictures film. Orion went bust and were bought by mgm now owned by amazon. Im not sure who puts out titles from mgm/orion. It was warner/universal before amazon took over but i havent heard anything in a coiple of years about mgm stuff. A bunch of these we didnt even get onto dvd in the uk or never made it past dvd. Oh ok, so that tells me there's a good chance we might actually get that one on 4K at some point. MGM does a lot of licensing with Vinegar Syndrome, Kino and other boutiques, so it's probably only a matter of time before we see Falcon pop back up. I could see Kino Lorber putting something like that out. Thanks for the info. That's encouraging.
One movie that I would like to see get a 4K or Blu Ray is The Chase (1994) this is a movie that I remember seeing on TV a lot back in the day, but from what I can tell it hasn’t been on physical media since DVD; and I’m pretty sure that’s out of print, and It isn’t on any streaming platforms. This one feels tailor made for Vinegar Syndrome’s VSU line
You know, I think I saw that movie years ago around the time it was new, but I don't remember the details very well. I could see VS resurrecting something like that. But I'm kind of surprised the movie is that hard to find. I figured we'd at least be able to find it on streaming.
I've never seen Space Invaders... I'll have to make a note of that one. I do remember What about Bob though... funny movie. Bill Murray is always great, and I've always liked Richard Dreyfuss too. Thanks for watching! Great to see you.
I've never seen K2, but I stumbled across a listing for it the other day and realized Michael Biehn has the lead role in it, who I'm a huge fan of (and I've been trying to collect more of his films). So K2 is a pretty good movie? I might have to see if there's a blu-ray out there for it. Also, I too would love to see Panic Room on 4K... I have an old DVD as well, and I haven't seen it in years. Although I did notice it was on streaming a few months back in HD. Can't remember where I saw the listing for it... might've been on Amazon Prime Video or HBO/MAX. I bet we get that one on 4K at some point... sounds like Fincher is finally getting his rear in gear on the 4K releases. Thanks for watching!
@@TheOriginalFuzz I mean, don't rely on a recommendation from my teenage brain of 1991, but I remember K2 being a good flick. Enough so that I sought out the DVD on Ebay and snagged a copy recently. I haven't watched it in 30 years though. :) I think you're right about Panic Room. Seems everyone is clamoring for that one. There's SO many that need at least an HD release. I can't even being to come up with a full list. I usually hear someone mention a title and I say, "Oh yeah! That one!" :) Enjoy the content, Fuzz! One of the best media/movie channels out there. I remember reading something about it somewhere within the last few months. I'll be buying it myself on 4K if it does get a release. Thanks for watching and weighing in!
Great video, they all sound amazing! Do you like Woody's Allen films? His canon is largely forgotten these days for obvious reasons. I highly recommend Crimes & Misdemeanors, it's a crime dramedy, expertly woven plot & highly thought-provoking. Hard to get a copy these days, but if you search youtube, the entire film has been uploaded for free.
I don't think I've ever seen any Woody Allen movies. Don't really even know all that much about them/him. But thanks for the tip... I'll have to look into that one. Thanks for watching!
What about The Mask, Gorillas in the Mist, Copycat, Deadly Pursuit, The Jerk not even on blu-ray ! And Shopgirl excellent script. Shattered Glass, The Chase , Somethings Gotta Give, hreat film!!!
That's correct... apparently it also had the alternate title of The Assassin (which I didn't even know until you mentioned it... just looked it up, and sure enough, that was the UK title).
Interesting! I thought I'd read that Kino was working on it, but then someone else here just said that it got pulled from Kino apparently. But after reading your comment, I just did a little poking around about this VS rumor, and found this article (see link below). So it sounds like it could be a VS release. I was shocked, because apparently Michael Mann hates this film. So I assumed getting this released would be a heavy lift. Also, it sounds like 4K may be too much of an ask for this title, just due to the lack of source elements available. But I'd be happy even if we got a blu-ray. thathashtagshow.com/2024/09/03/the-keep-blu-ray-release-michael-mann-fright-a-thon/

Would love to see space invaders on 4k. Its a very entertaining movie. One gem of a movie that should be on 4k is what about bob
I've never seen Space Invaders... I'll have to make a note of that one. I do remember What about Bob though... funny movie. Bill Murray is always great, and I've always liked Richard Dreyfuss too. Thanks for watching! Great to see you.
@@TheOriginalFuzz i have it on bluray
Yes, i 100% agree with both dead presidents and deas alive.
Warner Bros wake up and give us Dances with Wolves .
The Ref, K2, Panic Room, Suicide Kings, Swimming With Sharks, Max Dugan Returns are a handful of my DVDs Id like to see get something better.
I think you're right about Panic Room. Seems everyone is clamoring for that one. There's SO many that need at least an HD release. I can't even being to come up with a full list. I usually hear someone mention a title and I say, "Oh yeah! That one!" :)
Enjoy the content, Fuzz! One of the best media/movie channels out there. Cheers!
@@Go4Jeph Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words.
Nightmare on Elm Street 2 & 3, The Fly
Dolls by Stuart Gordon !
Love it! Such a fun little film. Just watched it again this year during Oct.
Bad boys with Sean penn
I do remember that one... although it's been years since I've seen it. Probably not since the 80s. I think it might actually be getting a 4K release.
Great ideas! Some of those would look amazing on 4k, especially Gorillas in the Mist.
The Jerk is on Blu-ray both standard and Shout Factory releases, but I'm still rocking my HD DVD copy.
Alive (1993), Cleopatra (1963)
Alive is a great film! That would look amazing on 4K!
Near Dark
Eyes Wide Shut.
Ben hur 1958
Classic! I own it on blu-ray, but I can only imagine how amazing it would look on 4K.
Point of no return (I'm I right in thinking that it was called The Assassin here in the UK?).
That's correct... apparently it also had the alternate title of The Assassin (which I didn't even know until you mentioned it... just looked it up, and sure enough, that was the UK title).
We need The Killing Fields and same Genre Salvador starring James Woods , me outta here.
The Keep is strongly rumored to come from Vinegar Syndrome this Black Friday.
