      @@TheOriginalFuzz I have been well, thank you for your kind response. I had actually bought a 6 pack of blu rays with all the Terminator films and watched them in order. I had never seen Terminator Salvation before and was pleasantly surprised by it. But the original is my favorite. Growing up, T2 was my favorite as i saw it in theaters with my dad on my 11th birthday. Much like your experience with the original, it blew me away! Sadly, watching it recently revealed huge plot holes that brought my enjoyment down but it is still a great action movie.
      i am also very hit or miss with M Night's movies. The Sixth Sense is well made but i figured out the twist 5 minutes in so it didn't surprise me. The performances are excellent though. My favorite by far from him is Unbreakable. i can watch that one over and over and i like the trilogy of Unbreakable/Split/Glass. Signs is excellent as well. Thanks for another video, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Fuzz!

      @@doomraven0 Very cool! I'm not really into most of the Terminator sequels beyond T2, but I do like Dark Fate, since it's the only other movie in the series that both Cameron and Linda Hamilton were directly involved with. And I thought the new terminator in that movie was pretty badass (although I would've chosen a different actor with a different build). Also, now that you mention it, I think Unbreakable may be my favorite M Night film as well. I thought it was Signs, but I forgot about Unbreakable... that's a good one! I like Glass quite a bit too. Split, of course, is excellent too... but for me it's not quite as rewatchable as the other two. Thanks so much... I hope you and your fam have a great Thanksgiving as well!

    A definite improvement over True Lies and Aliens and great to have the original dual mono audio track. What I find odd is that while a new 4K scan was made several years ago, as you stated, you didn’t mention that the film was finished to a 2K digital intermediate which effectively makes this 4K disc an upscale. Coupled with edge sharpening, which is very obvious on my set up, I’m left wandering about that original 4K scan. Well, it’s the best we’re going to get at least for a while but I personally wouldn’t call it reference quality.

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  Месяц назад

      I wasn't aware of the 2K digital intermediate until you mentioned it (which I've since researched and confirmed). But to be honest, that doesn't really bother me. What I saw with my own eyes looked fantastic, so I personally am not really hung up on that particular technical detail any more than I was with the Aliens 4K (which I also think looked fantastic... in fact, I think I even gave it the same score as Terminator. And I believe Aliens also had a 2K DI). I think sometimes we get focused a little too much on nitpicking technical details that we can lose sight of just enjoying the overall experience... and the fact that there are a lot of different attributes that go into making a good 4K release (i.e. it doesn't all hinge on one or two technical attributes -- and sometimes there are specific technical reasons that certain choices are made).
      But I get it that we all have different eyes. Maybe you're able to see things on your setup that I can't on mine (or that my eyes haven't adjusted to). That's entirely possible. So I can understand the "reference" tag is subjective and that not everyone will agree with that, and I can also understand if not everyone digs the implementation of the new technology Cameron's using. But personally, I have no complaints about the Terminator 4K restoration... or really even the approach Cameron has taken in general, for the most part (aside from a few odd-looking shots in True Lies). But I'm also pretty flexible with stuff like this and admittedly probably not as picky/discerning... I tend to be a little more forgiving of any potential processing issues (like edge sharpening), unless it's something really glaring. Anyway, thank you for watching and weighing in. Appreciate it!

      Yeah those are all my top favorites too... Aliens, Terminator, Alien and T2 occupy the top 4 slots on my all-time favorites list. I never get tired of watching these films lol! Alien and Aliens I watch probably at least 2-3 times a year each. And I'm about to watch them again once Alien Romulus comes out on 4K in a few days. LOL! Thanks for watching!

    I have to agree. The Abyss was restored so well. I don't know why people didn't like it. It looked amazing. I have the Steelbook version of the Terminator, but have thought 🤔 of double dipping. I have even triple dipped on certain movies. I know it's the same movie but I like the different appearance options. John Wick movies for instance.

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  Месяц назад +2

      I think the main complaint with the Cameron films is the grain reduction and processing, which gave the films a more "modern" look. Purists view this as revisionist and don't like the original look and feel being "messed with." But I'm with you... I thought The Abyss was stunning, and it may end up being my favorite 4K of the year. And I totally get it re: double dipping because of the packaging. If it's a film I really love, I will double dip (for example, if boutique were to come along and put out a killer rigid chunky box edition of The Abyss, I would absolutely buy it again. Same with Aliens). And I probably will end up double dipping for the John Wick films too when all is said and done. I just have standard editions for each of those. But I'd definitely buy a complete steebook box set once they finish up the series. Thanks for watching and chiming in!

      @@donjaun540 The Abyss is my favorite James Cameron movie so i would have been happy with even a decent 4K on it but holy cow it far exceeded my expectations! Whatever Cameron did with Aliens, The Abyss, and The Terminator should be the benchmark for what all 4K releases go for. I know what you mean on getting different cases lol I have 4 different versions of some of my favorites like The Batman and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

    I need to get The Sixth Sense 4K (just have the DVD). Terminator, I love my Blu-ray so I'm on the fence. As for slipcovers, I pre-ordered Deadpool & Wolverine on Blu-ray on Amazon and didn't get the slipcover, yet there it still is on the shelf at Walmart. Not a big deal, but I have the slipcovers for the other 2 so that sort of annoys me.

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  Месяц назад +3

      Yeah you'll love the Sixth Sense on 4K, especially if your last stop with this film was DVD. The 4K will probably blow your mind compared to DVD - LMAO! And I would highly recommend picking up the Terminator 4K. It's definitely an improvement over the existing blu-ray (which I also have). The audio alone is so much better, but then on top of that, the image quality is stunning. Definitely worth the upgrade to 4k... the 4K blows away the earlier blu-rays in my view. As for the slipcover situation, yeah it could be an Amazon thing... luck of the draw. Although I usually assume they are at least getting low on slipcovered stock when they start sending out standard editions. In the case of Sixth Sense, I figured it was a really popular title with lots of pre-orders, so it's entirely possible they really did sell out of all the slips (especially if Sony's slipcover runs are more limited to begin with). Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!

  • @stickywicked447

    It's so funny to me because, before I started watching you guys, I used to throw the slipcovers away! Wish I could get those back 😒I did think Terminator looked amazing though and I'm so happy to have it in 4K.

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  Месяц назад +4

      Yeah I get that -- years ago, I didn't used to take slipcovers all that seriously. I always thought they were just "temporary" packaging LMAO! When I first got back into collecting about 4-5 years ago, I was stunned to find that so many people valued the slipcovers. Then over time, I begin to realize that I too preferred slipcovers wherever possible, just because they make the releases look a little nicer. So I went from not caring about slipcovers at all to really placing a higher value on them now than I ever did when I was younger. I won't pay scalper prices for slipcovers on the secondary market, but if I can get one for the standard price when a title is first released, then that makes me happy LMAO! Thanks for watching!

      Hi Fuzz, I did like the Terminator of which I purchased the steelbook. First day it was in I made my poor wife sit and watch it with me. I probably have a different perspective on the slip covers now just in having viewed your channel and others. I never got rid of them but it does seem to make the cases a little more appealing. I have noticed certain movies I order now come with slips and others do not. I haven’t paid attention to particular studios but I just might start to. Don’t laugh but I recently ordered Finding Nemo and it came with a slip cover. I have no idea how long that movie has been out on 4k. Just in case you are wondering, I am trying to collect as many of the more iconic and classic movies to preserve what I see as Walt Disney’s original vision. By the way, I ordered and watched North by Northwest and thought that looked really good. Keep going strong and have a great day. 👍🏻

      @badnewskruse2860 Gotcha. Yeah that makes me a little nervous about Alien Romulus, which I pre-ordered but is delayed getting to me. I actually wanted a slip for that one. We'll see what happens.
