That's cool. You know the funny thing is, I've had that on 4K for awhile, but I don't think I've sat down and watched it since picking it up (it was an upgrade from blu-ray for me). I'm gonna have to check it out. Love Luc Besson's stuff!

Thanks so much my friend! Yeah I can totally understand the appreciation for Godzilla Minus One. That was a damn good film (even with the English dubs LOL🤣😉). I was so sucked into the characters and their story. Was not expecting that from a Godzilla film... for it to have such an emotional impact. Can't wait to see it again! And I'm right there with you on The Ring, man. I didn't want that box set either, because I was really only interested in the first film. So I too am really glad they went with a stand-alone 4K release. I'm stoked for Terminator... I'm sure it will look great. Yeah I think the Hitcher LE box set is sold out temporarily in many places. But they may have more copies coming in stock soon. Are you in the U.S.? If so, you can pre-order it right now on Amazon, but it costs a bit more than it would if you ordered from some place like Diabolik or Orbit, and it looks like the release date is a little further out. But here's the Amazon link if you're interested: www.amazon.com/Hitcher-Rutger-Hauer/dp/B0D96LRY65/ But it's almost $20 more on Amazon than if you were to get it from Diabolik, which is sold out temporarily (although the price on Amazon could drop a bit before release, with their pre-order lowest price guarantee). If you don't want to pay quite that much, I would keep an eye on both DiabolikDVD and Orbit DVD. I think they'll probably be restocking at some point. And for what it's worth, I've heard a lot of horror stories about ordering from Zavvi. They apparently do stuff like that all the time... I think the 4K of The Thing in the UK is probably the same transfer. The only difference may be that the U.S. release is on a triple-layer BD100 disc, whereas the UK release may only be a dual-layer BD66. So possibly a little better encode on the U.S. release. But I'm not even certain of that. Could be exactly the same. I know with 4K, different labels tend to share resources to save on costs and work off of the same 4K scans of the original camera negatives. I can't confirm anything for sure with the UK release. But if it looks anything like my 4K, it is stunning! My instincts would be to say it's absolutely worthy of an upgrade to 4K, especially if you're a big fan of the film. Thanks for watching!

Yeah I agree... they really need to include the extended cuts on 4K for T2. I'm hoping for the same. And personally, I consider Dark Fate to be the "legitimate" sequel to T2. I didn't mind Rise of the Machines at the time (loved the Judgement day stuff at the end), but I thought Dark Fate was a stronger movie overall (since it was the only sequel since T2 to have the involvement of not only Arnold, but also Linda Hamilton and James Cameron).

@@TheOriginalFuzz For me T3 was the weakest of franchise. I did enjoy Genysis and Dark Fate. And even though Arnold wasn't in #4, I really liked it. I got the 4K of it from Zavvi last year. I know Warner Bros is still releasing the box sets of entire franchise on bluray. Wonder if they hold the 4K tights to all as well. They would make a killing if they put out a complete set!

If you look on the Amazon listings for each of these M. Night films, it says they're both being distributed by Sony. That's how I came to this conclusion. M. Night may have been pushing to get them out behind the scenes, but Sony does appear to be handling the distribution.

@@TheOriginalFuzz Thanks! I did not see that. Since they made the deal, it has been quiet. You'd think someone would have made big deal about these being the first. I would love to know more about the deal like who is responsible for each step. Is Disney doing any of the work and then letting Sony distribute? Or are they letting Sony do the transfers? If it has been discussed, I have not seen it. We all assume that Disney doesn't want anything to do with physical media. So would be nice to know more details about who is doing what. Either way, it is great to these finally hitting. Not the biggest fan of Sixth Sense. But Signs has been near the top of my 4K wishlist since day 1.

I'm speculating here, just based on what I've been able to piece together. But I think Sony is probably handling most of the restoration work (and certainly the disc authoring). From what I understand, Disney completely gutted their home media division, and they got rid of all the good people there that knew what they were doing. I think part of the reason for the deal is that Sony has much more qualified and experienced people in their home media department to handle this kind of stuff -- good people who know what they're doing, apparently. So I think Sony probably consults with Disney on which vault titles to release, and someone at Disney probably still has to approve it all. There may be several layers of bureaucracy involved, but I think most of the work on the transfer and discs is probably being done by Sony. Dawn of the Discs is a pretty good account for keeping up with new releases... that's where I find out about a lot of stuff, and they're usually on top of stuff when titles are first announced. I'm still on Facebook, so I follow them over there. But they also are on X as well. Also, The Digital Bits provides a lot of good information (that's the site run by Bill Hunt, who is my go-to source for a lot of reviews and physical media information. He knows his stuff!). Is there a release date for it? If so, I wasn't aware of it. But I was never personally into that film regardless... and it's not really the kind of film I typically highlight on this channel. That said, at least one other person mentioned it here in comments, so I hope fans of the film get a 4K release soon.

Is that from Criterion? If you liked Mia Goth in Pearl, you might want to consider checking out X and Maxxxine. I agree, she is such a good actress! And in X, she plays a dual role of both Maxine and Pearl as an old woman (since the movie Pearl was a prequel to X). X was not as graphic as I was expecting considering the title and subject matter, and it is a well done film that I think was tastefully executed (as long as you don't mind a little blood lol). Very cool retro 70s vibe. But I'm excited to see what happens next, after the events of X. I do have Sorcerer on blu-ray, and I love it! I haven't seen Killer Joe yet, but I'm sure I'll be checking it out at some point. I wasn't aware that it was controversial... kinda makes me want to see it more now LOL! ​@@TheOriginalFuzz Simple Plan from Arrow. Okay, you've got me reconsidering X and Maxxine:) Can we agree that Sorcerer has the all time best "truck crossing an old bridge scene?" Killer Joe I very, very much recommend; its controversy is probably the chicken wing scene. Yes, chicken wing. No spoiler:) Matthew McConaughey plays the best ever sleazy small time corrupt sheriff (think of how sleazy Emmet Walsh was in Blood Simple, but a slick McConaughey). Also stars Gina Gershon....matter of fact I was so impressed with her uninhibited acting in Killer Joe that it inspired me to recently purchase 4k Criterion release Bound, glad I did.

I think I knew, but I'm just not personally interested in that one on 4K.

@TheOriginalFuzz got mine thru Diabolik the morning preorders were announced. Wasn't even gonna tempt letting this get by me LOL. I'm set to have mine delivered on the 30th. Also I just noticed you said you've never seen it. I first saw it on cable late night when I was around 9 or 10...and my breakfast that following Saturday morning was just different! 😅 That's the kinda affect this film has on me so expect to be in for a RIDE! @@BiggestMikey Yeah the funny thing is, I seem to remember the movie playing on cable TV quite a bit back in the late 80s (on the premium channels like HBO). I would notice it was on... and I could swear I probably turned to it for a few minutes at some point and maybe watched a scene or two. But I can't remember anything about the substance of the film itself. But I can kinda tell this is one of those films I just feel like I'm gonna love. And the fact that Second Sight is giving it the royal treatment just makes the whole deal even sweeter. Anyway, very cool to hear that Diabolik is getting them out too. I've ordered from them before as well, and I've always had a good experience.

Yeah I thought even True Lies looked good, considering the circumstances... apparently, the original camera negatives/source materials were in really bad shape, so they had to make some tough decisions with certain aspects of the restoration, apparently. I think there are a couple scenes that look a little off and over-processed... but overall, it's easily the best I've ever seen the film look on home media. Certainly beats the old DVD! Lol. Anyway, it's great to hear from others who appreciate the Cameron restorations. I got a lot of flack for my review of the titles at the time lol. But yeah that Terminator 4K is gonna be awesome... Yeah I would expect that we would see a 4K release for Amadeus in the near future. That's usually how it works when they do a new restoration and bring a film back to theaters. The 4K disc is probably right around the corner. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a release date within the next few months. I'll have to check out The Village... I haven't seen that one. And i believe they are working on Lethal Weapon for 4k release, which I agree we definitely need! We may hear more about that one soon too. Thanks for watching and chiming in! I don't think it's an age thing. There are many "old" people who actually appreciate having subtitles in all films, just for clarification -- due to hearing loss over time as some people get older. In my case, I just prefer hearing dialogue in English wherever possible.

Hi Steve! Yeah I'm noticing a lot of people are talking about Galaxy Quest. I'm gonna have to check it out, since I've never seen it. I only yesterday learned Sigourney Weaver is in it, which really piques my interest LOL! I don't mind Tim Allen, but Sigourney is the main reason I'm interested (plus, I just love sci-fi... and Galaxy Quest looks like a pretty funny spoof/parody). I'm kind of surprised to find how many people are interested in Galaxy Quest. It was barely even on my radar until others mentioned it lol. Also, I too am surprised about Hiding Out. I feel like that one is a little more obscure, and I would've never expected a 4K release. But I'm glad we're getting it. Lots of great stuff coming out. Thanks for watching and weighing in! I thought the Poltergeist 4K looked pretty damn good for what it is, but yeah some effects might be showing their age a bit. I didn't really notice anything too egregious last time I watched it. But yeah, we do tend to notice more of a film's flaws in 4K. I haven't seen the 2010 Nightmare... it's hard to imagine anyone but Robert England in the role. But maybe I'll check it out at some point just to see what they did with it. Thanks for watching and weighing in!

Yeah I didn't dislike Pearl, but I'm not sure how many more times I would watch it. I respect the filmmaking chops and the way the film was made, but I didn't like Pearly nearly as much as X... and I suspect I'll like Maxxxine even more than X.

Ty west is hit or miss with me too. House of the devil I loved. The innkeepers not as much. And I'm the opposite with Pearl and Maxxxine. I did not like Maxxxine. Nothing wrong with. Just my personal taste.

LMAO!😆 Yeah I pre-ordered the steel as soon as I saw it was live, but then a couple weeks later decided I wanted the slipcover art too. For one of my favorite movies, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity lol.

Very cool that you still have one of those DVD sets. From what I've seen, looks like it was a banger set (too bad it's only DVD lol). Those looked pretty nice. We definitely have needed something like that on at least blu-ray, but ideally 4K. Hopefully they'll do some kind of box set eventually for the whole franchise.

Yeah I thought that was a little strange myself. I would've thought they'd set the release date for something like that around Oct. 15 or something. I pre-ordered from Amazon and have release day delivery, so I should receive it by then.But it's definitely cutting it close. Hopefully Arrow's shipping them out early for you. Yeah I missed out on the Minus One steelbook myself... but I did pre-order the standard edition. Hoping for a cool slipcover lol. I do have all the Monsterverse movies on 4K, and I like those quite a bit. And then I have Godilla '98 in 4K and 2016's Shin Godzilla on digital.
