Great vid, we all have some regrets. The one that comes straight to mind for me is Baby Driver - great cast, great reviews, big steaming pile of crap movie 😂
Yeah Baby Driver didn't do a whole lot for me either... I had higher hopes for that one, especially being a big heist flick fan. I own it on blu, but who knows if I'll ever watch it again. I probably could've added that to the list as well Lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Oh man seeing SICARIO on this list burned 😅. 21st century CLASSIC in my eyes. No Country for Old Men + Silence of the Lambs always gets a yearly rotation in my house. And the 4K + its steelbook are a work of art 🤘🏿
I love the Joker, Taxi Driver, and King of Comedy. Many movies cross-copy others. Look at the spin-offs from Groundhog Day. Some are really well done, but none take anything away from Groundhog Day.
I treat my collection as more of an archive, so I don’t mind if there’s some movies I don’t like, but I wouldn’t be buying those on 4K or collector editions - those are only reserved for my favorites. That is a good observation as well in terms of post 2010 movies being regretted. I’m usually much more selective with post 2010 movies than I am with older movies when buying.
Yeah that totally makes sense, if you're going with the more archival approach. And I'm the exact same way with "newer" (post-2010) movies... definitely a lot more selective than with older catalog films. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Just been binge watching all your videos all week and i do like your personality and how you do things as i have just got onto the 4K bandwagon and started collecting. You just earned a sub, keep it up.
Thank you so much for that! I really appreciate your support. Glad to hear you're enjoying the channel. And welcome to the wonderful world of 4K! I'm really happy that I took the plunge into the 4K world a few years back.. it's a great format, and my mind has been blown away by some of these restorations on 4K (particularly older catalog films).
I love your honest and kind way of expressing yourself, I love the care put into your videos, I love seeing Dario Argento or Phantasm films in your collection behind you 😍 In two words: good job!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the kind words. And yep, I do love my Argento and Phantasm films... great stuff!! (Although I still want to see all the Phantasm films get a 4K release, which I would be all over if we got a new box set or something). Thanks for watching!!
I generally don't "regret" too many blind buys. I have a pretty good feel for my tastes by now & heck, a blu-ray (or even a 4k after 6 months) is really not anymore than seeing something in a theater - which is almost always a "blind rental".
Yes that's a good point. We spend more seeing these movies in theaters than we do on the physical media. Or sometimes the rental price figures into my decision as well... if I'm gonna put that money into renting, I may as well buy it. So yeah, if I get a dud from time to time when blind buying, it's not that big of a deal. Thanks for watching!
I really like Ghost in the Shell. I think it's worthy of repeat viewings. I agree with pretty much all the others. Many are good films but not something I'm clamoring to watch again. That being said, I don't mind having some of those titles in my collection. My home theater may be my home theater, but the film collection is enjoyed by friends and family.
I wasn't too keen on Ghost in the Shell when I first saw it, but then watched a second time with a mate and quite liked it. I've since bought on 3D and think looks really good.
Personally, I just don't understand everyone's hate for that movie. Yes, it deviates from the original anime, but I'm glad it gave some surprises. The acting was great, especially Takeshi Kitano. They could have done a better job on the building holograms in the fly-by shots, but overall, I feel satisfied with it and wish they would have made a sequel.
I got the standard bluray, has good Atmos. It good film however shame they watered down the concept, rather than diving deeper they kept it shallow. The original Animated version blew my mind.
On the odd occasion I do a blind buy it’s usually an anime film. One that paid off was a psychological thriller/horror called perfect blue about a Japanese pop idol who quits music to go into acting and during filming of a movie she’s in her costars production crew and agent start turning up dead at the hands of mysterious figure claiming to be the real her online, this causing her to question her sanity as she loses her grip on reality
Yeah I have Non-Stop myself, and I thought it was pretty decent. And of course, I love the Taken movies... I think those are some of Neeson's best (in that genre). Thanks for watching!
Well setting aside my general distaste for Joaquin overall, I still thought Joker was a decent film. I didn't think it was a bad movie... I was even fairly engaged when I was first watching it. But it's just not the kind of movie that I would necessarily want to re-watch very many times. BTW, what are your thoughts on the sequel coming out with Lady Ga Ga? Isn't it supposed to be kind of a musical or something? Are you looking forward to it? Thanks for dropping a comment and of course for watching! Great to hear from you.
Some of your choices were regrets for me too. I barely made 10 minutes into Sucker Punch. Green Knight was a regret for me which surprised me. It was my type of film and I didn't mind the story it was based on. A fun video would be blind buy surprises. I had never seen Firefly but picked up Senerity as a 4K. What a great movie. I ended up picking up the Firefly series because I enjoyed the movie so much.
Yeah I actually was thinking about doing just that... an opposite video with my Top 10 favorite blind buys. That will be a little trickier video, because there are a lot more blind buy gems/surprises to choose from than there were regrets for this video. But I expect I will make that follow-up video very soon. Thanks so much for watching and chiming in!
Couldn't get through 5 minutes of Sucker Punch - I didn't want to see it when it came out anyway, but I thought I would give it a try. Bullet dodged there. Same with Ghost in the Machine, Green Knight. I am glad I didn't buy any of them. hehe
I was with you until Enemies Closer. That was also a blind buy for me, but Van Damme's performance is the reason I've seen it about five times. I've had viewing parties with friends to show them how unhinged his performance was in this. The rest of the film is average, but Van Damme is doing what he can to elevate it, it's almost a Nic Cage-ian approach to the material. On a side note, I literally just bought a used Bluray copy of Outland yesterday as I had never seen it. I watched it last night, and couldn't believe that I had never seen this film. Loved the way it was shot, and the sets and effects were great. Would love to see a Vinegar Syndrome or Umbrella give that film the deluxe treatment. Great video though, and your love for movies really shines through.
Thanks for watching and chiming in! Yeah I hear you on Van Damme's performance... I think the over-the-top nature of it is what I didn't like about it. But now I'm thinking maybe I should give it another chance at some point and see if I feel differently about it. Because I agree that most of the time, I would be more receptive to that kind of over-the-top Nic-Cage style performance. As for Outland, yes!! That's such a great film! I'm totally with you on that.. would love to see a nice Vinegar Syndrome deluxe edition. That would be a Day One purchase for me easily. Thanks again for watching! Really appreciate it.
Dollar Tree is responsible for a couple hundred blind buys, mostly obscure horror and action movies. Most have been "one and done" time wasters then donated. Every once and awhile a gem added to my modest collection.
Thanks for the video! I would love to see the video you mention: Actors that bug the heck out of me! LOL I have lists of my own. I would say that I am not too keen on buying anything over $5 for a blind buy. Generally I get movies that I either have seen clips from, heard a lot about, or of course, ones I have seen. With horror, it used to be that you could find items for $3-$5 around Halloween and after Christmas and New Year's Eve (end of year sales). I would stock up on movies, and wouldn't mind a blind item. The ones I bought blind were Unsane, Shadow Puppets, Pyramid, Promising Young Woman, and a few more horror movies. There were a few I bought that I wished I hadn't. On Black Phone, I really liked it. It was creepy, and I loved Ethan Hawke in it. However, I can see what you mean - if a movie is one that you might only watch once, why buy? I have it too but I probably won't watch it again for a long time. Some I get just to "have" because I worried they would never be somewhere I could see or purchase, I suppose. Even with streaming and You Tube, etc., things go away after awhile. But yeah, there are movies I am glad I have but probably will never watch again - they are those one view types!
With you on most of these diabolical films apart from Joker. It’s incredible portrayal with amazing depth and character development. For me this is everything I wanted where Nolan’s Batman films have zero character development, stunt timelines, and jump cut editing. Only Heath Ledger’s wonderful performance in The Dark Night lifted the film. 99% of modern films don’t interest me apart from the odd independent film where directors don’t have to comply to modern rules. Would be interesting in hearing your views on actors that bug the s*** out of you and for others to give theirs.
I personally like Ghost in the Shell because it's based on an anime and I like Japanese movies already. I was annoyed at the time because people said it was cultural appropriation but the main character is an Asian person inside of a shell thats white. That's why it's called Ghost in the Shell I believe. Id finish the movie.
Most of my blind-buy regrets have been titles I picked up at Dollar Tree. There have been a few that I regret because I wasn't a big fan of movie to begin with or it did stand the test of time and no longer like. A couple would be Evil Dead 1 & 2 4Ks. I doubt I will ever watch them again.
Well if it's any consolation, the enthusiasm here from everybody for Sicario is kind of starting to make me wonder if maybe I should give it another watch... just to see if I feel any differently about the re-watchability factor. LMAO!😆 Because I did think it was a good movie... it's just not the kind of film I would normally watch repeatedly. But yep, most of the titles in my collection that have been blind buys are movies that I can see myself watching at least a couple other times in my life. That's kind of my measuring stick. If it's not something I think I'll ever watch again, then it counts as some kind of "regret" -- although I now find myself questioning my inclusion of Sicario here... at least on the main list. I probably should've stuck it in my honorable mentions section instead... since I was a little less sure about some of those. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment! Great to see you Daniel!
Sleepaway camp does suck aside from the twist ending, however Sleepaway camp 2 and 3 are worth a pick up and watch obviously Sleepaway camp 2 and 3 are out of print but if you're region free 88 films put them out. Pamela Springsteen is great in those ones funny and entertaining
I might try and see if i can catch 2 and maybe 3 on a stream or something during this year's 31 Days of Horror marathon. I'm open to at least giving them a try and seeing if I appreciate them a it more than the first. Thanks for watching and weighing in!
I'll blind buy blu-rays for $6 or so when deals are going on because that is basically a rental price, and if I like some of them well enough to add to the collection, that's just a bonus. 4Ks are too expensive to blind buy, IMO.
Thanks so much Ken! Appreciate you watching brother. Yeah I think I may be able to part with my Joker slip... let me chew on it for a bit and I'll get back to you on that.😉
My thoughts exactly. I love Sicario. Seen it twice and excited to watch it again. I did double dip on Joker. I haven't seen it yet on the 4k, but will be checking it out before Joker 2. Sorry Fuzz. I am really looking forward to the sequel. Love or hate Phoenix does deliver.
do i have to buy a 8k10k cord for the back of the dvd player as well to my reciever ? i already have a hdmi corder from the reciver to my uhd4k samsung tv
Just to clarify, do you have a 4K disc player, or just a standard DVD or standard blu-ray player? If it's a standard player, the 8K cable won't matter as much, because you're already limited on resolution with a standard player anyway (compared to 4K). You only really need 8K cables if you're looking to watch 4K sources. But you'll need a 4K disc player to play any 4K discs. What I do is connect my 4K player directly to the TV with HMDI (I think my cables are rated for 8K). For audio, I use the E-Arc hdmi ports on my TV and receiver. I make one connection from my E-arc hdmi port on my receiver, to my e-arc hdmi port on my TV. That will handle all the audio and route it back out through the speakers. But the 4K player itself is connected to another hdmi port on the TV, rather than routing it through my receiver. That setup seems to work best for me.
@@TheOriginalFuzz Panasonic UB-9000 Player thats being connected to a Sony AZ5000ES to my Samsung 95D 4K OLED. I was wondering if I would need to purchase another 4k 8k cable to connect the panasonic to either the tv or my receiver. I would like everything connected to my receiver if possible.
@@firstphoton655 Oh ok... then yeah, I'd use another 8K cable to make the connection from your 4K player to either your TV (like I do) or your receiver... depending on how you want to set it up.
@@TheOriginalFuzz ahh i see man this is getting expensive.....I was able to snag the panasonic ub9000 player for $800 new in box from an authorized dealer. was that a good deal, decent or paid to much? New to this audio world
@@firstphoton655 Yeah that's a pretty good deal for a new Ub9000 unit. Those usually go for at least $1100. That's more or less Panasonic's top of the line model. It's very similar functionally to the Panasonic UB820 that I have, except yours is built like a tank (much better build quality than mine).
Thanks for the video. I have a few, but thankfully they were very cheap purchases. But my definite number one is:- *Fifty Shades Of Grey - On DVD. What was I thinking? I heard the hype, so was intrigued. What a borefest.
Yeah I think I'm gonna do that one fairly soon. I've been sitting on the idea/list for like 6 months, but wasn't sure whether it would be a good idea or not. But I think I'm just gonna have some fun with it and make the video soon. Thanks for watching & weighing in Steve!
For me all of the Dario Argento movies, my sister bought me, I deeply regret. When the director himself says his movies have no story, Is not something I need.
Sorry to hear that. I love Argento's work (well, the first 20 years of his career in particular). But admittedly I don't really watch his films for the stories -- I watch them more for the style and aesthetics, the cinematography, set pieces, etc. That's really Argento's trademark... his style. But I agree the stories can be a little weak or convoluted. I just feel like that kind of comes with the territory for Italian horror.
Dario set the standard in terms of visuals and suspense. It dream like....and dreams don't make sense. U can see his influences in many horror genre films like Nightmare on Elm street. His films like Suspiria are so tripping. I also love the euro Italian 80s music and vibe.
I'm a big horror movie geek but I can't get into Italian Horror. Zombie I liked but I sold my Suspiria 4k. There's a lot to luv about that flick but let's see where streaming stands in 5 years.
I'll be honest, while some of them make me laugh, other than Demons/Demons 2, I am not the biggest Argento fan. I still have a few of his on dvd, but will never go out of my way to buy any of them. I just find them too disjointed, poorly acted and dubbed. I love bad horror and I love foreign films and even have a good chuckle with bad dubbing, but sometimes...
Hello, long time no see, I moved LOL. I'm surprised you listed Sicario? I have both films in 4K steelbooks from Best Buy. I feel the Joker is overrated myself, however I own it to pair w/my DCU collection. Thank you for the video.
Hey Joel Great to see you! Yeah Sicario is the only one I'm kind of second guessing myself on and questioning if I should've even had it in the main list. If I had to do it over again, I probably would've put Sicario in the honorable mentions or something. I may revisit that one at some point to see if I feel differently. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Your nr. 1 is only that big a deal because of the shock endning and even with that I don't see it being that big a deal out there really... I do prefer nr. 2 & 3 over it though. They are more akind to the kinda 80's slashers I prefter and don't simply rely on a shock endning.
Well maybe I'll have to check out at least the first sequel at some point, just to see if I like it any more than the first. Thanks for watching and commenting Dennis!
Yeah I liked River much more. My favorite River Phoenix film was a movie called "Running on Empty" from 1988, with Judd Hirsch and Christine Lahti. If you've never seen it, it is an excellent film that I highly recommend.
Great video fuzz as always I enjoy your long content as my attention span is old school 😂 I will agree with you on a lot of these. I'm glad that there are only two titles that you mentioned and I actually own in my collection. The others I did stream and man did. I wipe the sweat off my forehead after watching these horrible movies. Great list!
Hey Nick thanks so much! Great to see you. Sounds like you've managed to stay clear of many of my "duds" LOL! I'll have to make a list of my favorite blind buys next, just to have a little balance there. Although that will probably be a little harder to do, since I've had a lot more positive blind buy experiences than negative ones. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment my friend!
Sicario was really a surprise. I am a Denis fanboy. I totally agree about Joaquin and I probably won’t watch joker again myself. 13 Hours is an Audio Demo extravaganza. A well build audio system really shines w that one.
I actually really like Denis' filmmaking style as well. I love Arrival and the Dune films and Blade Runner 2049 in particular. I thought Sicario was a very well-done film... it's just not the kind of thing I can personally re-watch very often. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!
TBF, The Ward wasn’t a John Carpenter movie, it was a made-for-TV thing he did for Showtime. It was after he had his “I’m fed up with Hollywood” moment, IMMSMC.
Either way, that movie sucked. LOL He still is connected to it. I love when Carpenter gets high falutin when something doesn't work out. He basically strong armed poor Rosenthal into adding more gore and junk to it (personally I love H2 from 1981 as much as part 1!). Rosenthal wanted to make it just like part 1. Sometimes Carpenter is full of it. Love him, but it is true.
Speaking of buying blind, I buy 4k movies mostly on Amazon and ebay. Most of time they don't say whether or not the movie comes with a slip cover or not (I like the slip covers) so I buy slip cover blind, mostly they come without. How can I make sure ahead of time.
Slipcovers are usually limited to the the first couple production runs of a given title, and then they don't produce them anymore. So the trick is to try and buy titles when they are first released (or like within a month or two of their release). Usually you can count on receiving a slipcover if you pre-order a title or buy it not long after it's been released. But for titles that have been out for a while, it's just luck of the draw as to whether or not they've sold out of all their slipcovered editions. I've purchased titles on Amazon that had been out for a few years and got lucky, still received a slip. But often if a title has been out for a year or more, there's a good chance all the slipcovered editions are sold out and only standard amaray case versions are available. It really just depends on the title, it's popularity/demand, how many slipcovered editions were produced, etc. Once the slipcovers are sold out (like for older releases that have been out a while), a lot of people will take to eBay or other secondary market sources to try and secure an out-of-print slip. But they are usually a little pricier once they're out of print, because the slipcovers are considered collectible packaging. I made a video about collectible packaging where I discuss slipcovers and all this in more detail (I'm a big slipcover guy myself). Feel free to check it out here: ruclips.net/video/tDIW0YzajSQ/видео.html Also, if you're looking for a slipcovered edition that has been out for a while, you may want to check independent retailers like orbitDVD.com or diabolikDVD.com. Often times, their listings WILL tell you if it comes with a slip or not (particularly with OrbitDVD). Both Orbit and Diabolik are great small businesses that are really geared toward the collector, so they understand the value of slipcovers to collectors. Thanks for watching!
@TheOriginalFuzz Thanks so much for responding to my question! Your answer is so much better than I could of imagined. I had no idea about any of that and have been frustrated for quite some time. I will watch your video after work today. I'm getting in the mail to Silence of the lambs 4k, can't wait to watch it. Have a great day...thanks again.
Yep - that's coming soon! Probably within the next couple weeks. That one will require a bit more thought, because I've had a bunch of great blind buys. Thanks for watching!
not sicario!! but I will say I'm sort of with you on Joker, I wasnt a major fan the first go around, but I've been meaning to give it a re watch because I'd like to see the new one in October, especially if Dallas Cinemark gets a 70mm film print of the movie
I consider joker part of a spiritual trilogy-taxi driver, The king of comedy, and joker. Joaquin Phoenix is a weirdo but he's a good actor. I think the fact that he is a weirdo makes Him a good fit for joker.
Kudos for unexpected but refreshing topic, much enjoyed, thank you. My modest little collection of 3 years has around 20 blind buys with about 6 I regret. Salt in wound is that most of the regrets had/have really good reviews that influenced me, from top critics to general public. They are: Last Night in Soho 4k: Too ghost story genre for me, I'm over that at my old age, but beautiful cinematography. Mission Impossible Fallout 4k: Too gimmicky, stunts on steroids, overdose on Tom Cruise. In Bruges: Protagonist crook accidentally kills child, and I'm supposed to have empathy and laugh at his humor rest of movie, NO. SKyfall: Found storyline/action ridiculously over the top last 1/3 of film. The Bourne Ultimatum: Liked Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum ran out of steam for me. Memories of Murder (Criterion): Parts were good, some ridiculous, yellow/green color grading awful, along with flat contrast. RE, your picks...I totally love Sicario, one of my first 4ks, seen multiple times:)
That's cool. We're all unique. Some of the ones you mentioned I actually really like myself... like Last Night in Soho, Skyfall (my favorite Daniel Craig Bond film.. plus I like over-the-top), and I agree Bourne Ultimatum is not as good as the first two, but I still like it and the franchise as a whole. Thanks for watching and commenting!
You need to give more details about why you didn't like a movie. Saying the same thing over and over about not liking it gives us no insight as to the movie's contents, or the reasons for your reaction. "I could not get into this movie at all..." is the best we get.
I watched Sleepaway Camp when I was young, but I never saw it again. I think it needed to be seen in the context of the 80s; it's just a good imitation of Friday the 13th, like Carnage (1984), for example. I agree, The Ward is bad, especially for Carpenter... The twist might be worth seeing, but I really didn't like it.
Was super excited for this video until you mentioned Sicario and Joker lol. Not much more needs to said about Sicario that hasn't already been said by your viewers, but I am quite surprised about not only your reaction to Joker, but some others as well. That movie actually surprised me how they focused on mental health and how society helped create the Joker. I thought Phoenix was perfectly cast for this based on his struggles in life with the loss of his older brother. I felt it helped him grasp the character better. Now with that said, I would have loved to have seen Ledger in his own Joker movie. I do have a list of actors/actresses that bug me, but usually only when they are out of character and being themselves. As long as they just keep doing what they are good at and stay out of politics and world issues I am ok with them. Lol.
Sorry to bum you out on those Dwayne. But for what it's worth, I didn't think Sicario or Joker were bad movies... I thought they were both decent, well-done films. They're just not the kind of movies I can re-watch very often, if at all. But I still thought they were worth watching. Although with all the pushback I'm getting for Sicario, I'm now wondering if maybe I should revisit the film, just to see if I feel any differently about it on a second viewing. I think of all the titles i put on the list, Sicario is probably the only one I'm having second thoughts about including now... because it's possible I could have a different view of that one in 10 years or something. Also, I'm right there with you on Heath Ledger... I would've LOVED to see him in his own Joker movie! I like him a lot more than Joaquin. And I understand the appeal of Joker for you... it was definitely a very thoughtful movie. I might've even liked it a bit more if someone other than Joaquin had been in the role. But I get where you're coming from. Oh and I totally agree with you about actors staying out of politics. That's probably the biggest turn off for me. I just want to see them do what they do best... act in movies. I'm not interested in their personal politics. Great to see you my friend! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
@TheOriginalFuzz I felt bad after I sent this comment. I re-read it and felt it came across kind of harsh. Never meant for that. Comments are like text. Can sometimes be taken out of context. I know you would have not taken it that way, but I was feeling regret. After seeing Sicario on your list I was preparing myself for Tenet. I personally really enjoyed that movie, but I know for some, it's Nolans worst film. For me he can't make a bad movie. 😄😄. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🍻
@dwaynesager1864 Oh no worries Dwayne! I didn't take it as harsh at all. But I understand what you're saying... sometimes I have to be careful with text too. Tone doesn't always come through in text the way we intend, and it can lead to misunderstandings. But that was definitely not the case here... i totally get where you're coming from. As for Tenet, I still haven't seen the entire film yet. My wife and I tried to watch it once, and we only got about an hour into it. Neither of us could figure out what was going on, so we turned it off and decided to come back to it later. But I've been thinking I'm gonna pick up the 4K of Tenet at some point and give it another shot. I have a feeling that one may require multiple viewings to fully grasp everything.
It is hard to relate to certain movies and always check the Date It was made like Sleepaway camp was 1983 I was 16 I'm 58 it was Teenagers of the time. The Joker was hard to watch knowing people with metal and social reality most are not delta with let alone correctly.I was with my mother at the local Hospital in the 1970s and we got off on the wrong floor and Creepy Vibe because all the people with mental problems. The Movie That was Creepy and well played by Rutger Haur 1986 the Hitcher was well done He visted a mental health facility and copied their behavior.
Sleepaway Camp is like a sex comedy version of Friday the 13th, the sequel even more so. If only you had the slipcover you'd make $30 on Ebay for it, the sequel goes for $120 thanks to the extra nudity. Enemies Closer I like as a "so bad, it's good" film. If you ever get into anime don't avoid watching Ghost in the Shell due to the live action film, it's one of the greatest anime of all time.
Ghost in the Shell is terrible!!!!!!! I agree with you about Joker. One of the most depressing movies I have ever seen. Doubt I would ever watch it again. Have to disagree with you about 13 Hours but if you don't get into that kind of movie I can see your point of view. I also liked Sicario and could see watching that movie again.
I thought 13 Hours was a good movie... it's just not the kind of film I can watch repeatedly, and I don't know if I'll ever watch it again. But I thought it was well done for the type of film it is. Thanks for watching!
I'm watching through this and I get the feeling that you don't like movies that are so bad with her. Don the dragon Wilson in particular is a bad actor but passable but I watch his movies for the martial arts and the action. Sleepaway camp is a classic example of so bad it's good. The main character is trans, ridiculous deaths, and then the insane reveal. It's one of those oddities that I like in my collection.
Agree on Sleepaway Camp. Sicario I really like & can rewatch for Brolin & Del Toro's characters, despite unpleasant topics. Do an 'Actors who bug the sh*t out of me" vid! My own personal pics would be Cillian Murphy & Elisabeth Moss.
Yeah I'm definitely going to make that "actors that bug me" video very soon now... it seems to be a pretty popular idea, based on all the comments here. I already have the list done (I've been sitting on it for like 6 months lol), but wasn't sure whether that kind of video would be appreciated LOL! But now I'm totally energized to make it, so I'll be recording it soon. Thanks for weighing in and watching!
Scitario really surprised me to be on your list. My wife and I enjoy rewatching this one. I didn’t keep Joker. It was just so dark and depressing. Not something I would go back to very often.
Sicario is a very well-done film, and I did appreciate it... it's just not the kind of film I can watch repeatedly. But yep, I totally get what you're saying about Joker. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi Fuzz, I havn't seen most of your movies but Sicario (& its follow up) don't deserve to be on the list. Roman J. Israel is more of a biography. I detest physical media disappointments so I recommend online resources to make good choices: a concensus of IMDB reviews for content, Blu-ray for technical aspects & caps-a-holic for upgrades. I agree that previewing a movie by streaming leads to disappointment because it removes 'the shock of the new'. If you've streamed then purchased a movie better to rewatch it much later. Cheers!
Damn. Sicario is my most liked thriller of all time. Very American, but it's so rare to get a story like this without showing any gruesome violence towards children or woman. And yes, I've seen the ending. That scene still didn't celebrate the violence. This movie lived from its characters and died very well doing so.
I may have to give Sicario another watch, after seeing how much everyone is raving about it here. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I might appreciate it more on 2nd viewing.
If you do, you could also make a "Sicario Re-visited" - video, where you go over it and explain whether you still stand by your point of not liking it or if you started to like it (more). My wife also doesn't like. But she didn't like it because i explained that the gruesome base of the movie (being cartel/drug violence) is actually rooted in reality. That can throw people off. I'm sure people would like for you to talk about this movie in a separate video. I know i would.
Man, The Ward was trash! It didn’t feel like a Carpenter film at all. I thought that Joker was excellent, but I don’t find myself rewatching it because it’s pretty fucking heavy. I’m still happy that I own it, though. I really enjoyed Sicario, but I don’t find myself returning to that one too often either. Sleepaway Camp is definitely a messed up film in a lot of ways, but I think that makes it stand out more, because you couldn’t make a movie like that today. Awesome video, buddy! You keep on rockin’, home slice! 🤘😎🤘
Yep I totally agree about the Ward. It definitely seemed phoned in, from what I could tell... not at all like the Carpenter we know and love. And I agree about the Joker... I think the nature of the subject matter (heavy) is part of why it's not the kind of film I would rewatch very often. Thanks for watching my friend and for dropping a comment. Appreciate it brother!
Hi Fuzz. Good selection. I agree Sicario is ok but definitely a one time watch for me. Bladerunner 2049 would be on my list. Have tried watching it at least 3 x but always sends me off to sleep 💤 Would be great to have your list of actors that bug you. Jesse Eisenberg, Josh Hartnett and Daniel Craig would top my list! Not a fan of these guys at all
Yep Jesse Eisenberg is definitely on my list too! LMAO! I've never understood why he's even a thing. I think I definitely will do that video for actors that bug me very soon. I have the list mostly complete... just have to record the video. Glad to see so many people like the idea. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment! Appreciate it!
Lol! Oh I don't know about that... I like a lot of crap too!🤣 It just comes down to my own personal tastes and vibe with the films. I've had a pretty good success rate with my blind buys. Probably about 90-95 percent of the time I don't regret the purchase. But I only buy stuff I like and that I think will have some rewatch value for me over the next 20-30 years or so. Plus I only really collect movies in certain genres (action, horror and sci-fi... and adjacent sub-genres). So you won't find classic titles like Citizen Kane, Casablanca or On the Waterfront in my collection. Not really my jam.
I have not seen the original Gambler, but I do love James Caan, so maybe I'll check that one out at some point. He's definitely a better actor than Marky Mark, so maybe I'll dig it a little more for his performance. As for Van Damme, I totally get where you're coming from... it just really threw me off watching him in the villain role. LOL! Thanks for watching and chiming in Daniel!
Hey, brother. Long time. Great video, as usual. The only movie that I absolutely have to disagree with you on is 13 Hours. The other movies I can understand from a personal perspective, and I do as well for 13 Hours. But, it's probably Michael Bay's best film if you really know the Benghazi story. Great performances and stays mostly true to the truth if you read between the lines in some scenes. I'm not knocking you. Just giving my two cents. Great content, again, as always. Keep it up. - Nick
Oh it's a great film, and I agree, great performances. So I'm glad I watched it, and yes, I'm familiar enough with what went down there. It's just not the kind of movie I could watch repeatedly. Black Hawk Down had a similar effect on me. I own it and like it, but it's just not the kind of film I would rewatch very often, if at all. Although on second thought, I could see myself maybe returning to 13 hours some time later on down the road, maybe in 10 years or something if I get in the mood for that type of film again. I was kind of on the fence about even including it in this list, so I just stuck it in the honorables section. Thanks for watching and weighing in on this! Appreciate it.
I watch a lot of videos like this because it's interesting to see what others like or dislike. Pretty much all of your titles in this one would not interest me either. I totally get your point about some being good films, but you'd never see them again (JOKER, for example). That's an important factor for me as a collector. I rarely blind buy, unless it's to fill an order to get free shipping in a few cases. If I research a film and it sounds like a single-watch title for me, I'm likely to pass. Blind buying is very risky. I will experiment in certain genres, as you say, for me the main one is Film Noir, but at this point I have, or have seen, all the the significant Film Noirs, or Neo-Noirs (with a few exceptions in the latter). Many of your titles here are in genres that don't interest me. But to each his own. Thanks for your insights and discussion
Thanks for watching and weighing in here. I really appreciate that. Yeah blind buying is not for everyone, but I love discovering new films on physical media for the first time. So most of the time, I don't really feel like it's much of a risk, since I research the movies beforehand. I'd say probably 90-95 percent of the time, the blind buy works out fine for me (at least to the point where I don't regret the purchase).
Sicario was such a well acted film and did a great job blending suspense and action and basically seeing the view point of various players in the movie... I loved it and don't usually love these types of films... I own it and it's one of the few films in this genre I love. But I love the Joaquin Phoenix "bugged the shit out of me" I totally agree, I feel like Joker is so over rated and Joaquin is one of those actors I want to like, but haven't liked one single film he's acted in... I usually like the other actors so much better than him in his movies.
Yep that's exactly how i feel about Joaquin. i tolerate him, but I will seldom watch a movie where he's in a lead role, unless it's a subject matter that has promise to be interesting (like Joker, which i thought was a well-done film, but I also agree it's overrated. It didn't match the hype for me.). Thanks for watching and weighing in!
I enjoyed The Gambler I thought Mark Wahlberg did a good job in the role. I also thought that Don The Dragon Wilson is a good actor I like most of his movies.
I actually made the list for the "Actors that bug the shit out of me" video like 6 months ago, but I've been sitting on it trying to decide whether that would be a good idea or if it would piss too many people off LMAO! But it's all in good fun, so I think I'm gonna do now... soon! Lol! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Well, Joaquin Phoenix bugs the shit out of me.😉 And it's true -- they don't make movies like they used to as much anymore. But I think it would be far more accurate to say that I don't necessarily like all the SAME modern movies that you do, as much as you do.😉
The gambler was a terrible remake…the original staring James Caan was very good. I agree with you about Black Phone it was predictable, just done too many times better in other movies.
I'll have to check out the James Caan original. I've never seen it. I do love James Caan, so perhaps I'll enjoy that one a lot more. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I enjoy your channel but you are weirdly inarticulate about explaining why you don’t like certain movies. You don’t really develop or analyze your reasons for disliking a movie but just repeat that you dislike it. It’s far more engaging for the viewer when you make an argument about why you dislike a movie. For example you could go high brow and philosophical. You could attack it on literary or aesthetic grounds. Or you could go crowd pleaser and talk about idiosyncrasies or stupid dialogue or laughable acting…Don’t mean to rag too much just my 2 cents.
@@sonofacheron It's a list video... it's not intended to be an in-depth review or analysis. I go into a bit more detail in my 4K review series called "4K Takeaways." But my list videos are not intended to be reviews. Just a little different type of content. Thanks for watching and weighing in. Appreciate it.
Yeah i felt the same way... the Black Phone wasn't as good as I was expecting, but it wasn't bad. I was entertained enough at the time... but it didn't really stick with me after that.
Sleepaway camp is so overrated yes. I had more fun with the campy sequels. The twist in the first film is shock shlock cheap bs that of course gets attention but not in a good storytelling way.
Please release the list of Actors that bug the shit out of you! Some that come to mind that bug the shit out of me or at least turn me off: Keegan-Michael Key, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jada Pinkett Smith, John Cena (feels like a bad acting hulked out version of Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Seth Rogan, John Leguizamo, Don Cheadle sometimes, Tobey Maguire, and the king of annoying Pauley Shore.
LMAO! I already own The Postman on blu-ray. It's a good companion film to Waterworld. But I agree, it's not fantastic or anything... it's just ok. But I don't mind it.
Fuzz Ken at mid level media should do this, he blind buys more than you, its really annoying watching him, just no thought/organisation into what he buys!!!!!
Oh man my heart dropped when you mentioned Sicario lol 😅, love that movie and it’s one that I enjoy watching over and over just as a character study, 13 hours is one of Michael Bays best recent films in my opinion, he did it his style but it wasn’t too over the top. I’m a sucker for Sucker Punch……no pun intended 😂. Visually it’s a great film, however I completely understand the ending is not everyone’s cup of tea haha. It’s funny I have Black Phone and still haven’t watched it. My wife did and said she was not impressed and didn’t understand the hype so I’m just delaying the inevitable of at least watching it good time or not. For me not sure if I have any regrets for movies added to my collection, I guess in my insane mind even if I don’t enjoy them they’re still what makes a part of my collection
Hi Jorden -- thanks for chiming in!! Sorry to drop the Sicario bomb on ya... I knew that was gonna disappoint a few people. But for what it's worth, I still think it's a really good movie. It's just not the kind of thing I personally can watch repeatedly. But I'm glad I watched it. Good acting, and very gripping. Sucker Punch I feel like it could've been so much better if they had taken the story to a different place for the ending. It started off with so much amazing potential, that I feel was kind of squandered by the ending. It's definitely a visually stunning film - I'm a big fan of Snyder's aesthetics. Let me know what you think of the Black Phone when you get around to watching it... I'll be very curious to hear your thoughts. Great to see you my friend! Thanks for watching!
@@TheOriginalFuzz absolutely, I’ll let you know my thoughts on it. I completely understand your feelings on Sucker Punch, I just love how Snyder does an amazing job making his films really have the comic book feel. This was a great video of yours. I enjoy hearing your thoughts, really insightful
Why would I stop blind buying when I enjoy discovering new films for the first time on physical, and 95 percent of the time I end up with something that I'm happy owning? It's not really a problem for me.
Fuzz no 2, looks Rubbish, glad i do not own it, omg never seen your no 1 Sleep away Camp, do not own any of these so maybe me doing ok with my choices.
Joker is amazing. Phoenix killed that role
It is! Should’ve been on the honorable mentions list
I agree with you, anyone that loves Joker has clearly not seen Taxi Driver + King of Comedy. It just plays like someone trying to ape young Scorsese.
I love the Joker, Taxi Driver, and King of Comedy. Many movies cross-copy others. Look at the spin-offs from Groundhog Day. Some are really well done, but none take anything away from Groundhog Day.
I try not to blind buy anymore unless it's a thrift store purchase. I'd rather give away a $3 lemon over trying to sell a $25 lemon
Black Friday buys.
Ditto
Thank you.
Have yourself a great weekend, my friend.
Ditto
Joaquin is definitely one of those actors who puts a bad taste in your mouth. Lol. I did like his patrayal of the Emperor in the movie gladiator
"Actors that bug the shit out of me" would be fun! At the moment, there is one that does that for me...Ben Stiller.
Jason Statham and Bryce Dallas Howard come to mind...
I get you buddy…..but not on Ghost in the Shell. Loved it
I generally don't "regret" too many blind buys.
Thank God we are all Individuals with Different And Divergent Tastes. And that they make movies with Diversified and a Variety of People.
I always hear Roger Ebert when listening to you talk. :)
Lol! That's cool... I'll take that as a compliment (hopefully? LOL)
The key for me is. Do I like it enough to re-watch and own it?
I’ll take that Sleepaway Camp if you want to make room on your shelf!
Awesome video, Fuzz! Yes, please make a video about actors that bug you, lol.
I'll check out Cold Pursuit sometime. Liam Neeson was really good in Non Stop, so I want to check out more of his movies
Yeah I have Non-Stop myself, and I thought it was pretty decent. And of course, I love the Taken movies... I think those are some of Neeson's best (in that genre). Thanks for watching!
I agree with all your choices except for Joker which I loved and I understand why you don’t like it!
Sicario was the only one that hurt. I totally agree with this list. I curate my collection in this same way especially with blind buys
Please, please do a video on "Actors that bug the sh*t out of me" video. (-: Nice list by the way!
@@TheOriginalFuzz 2 and 3 are available on streaming part 2 is my favorite wated it many times, cheesy good fun and funny.
I'll blind buy blu-rays for $6 or so when deals are going on because that is basically a rental price, and if I like some of them well enough to add to the collection, that's just a bonus.
4Ks are too expensive to blind buy, IMO.
Ohhhh man! Not Sicario! lol… Great list Fuzz and if you ever wanna part ways with that Joker 4K slip, I’m your guy. I missed out on that one. 😂

@@firstphoton655 Oh ok... then yeah, I'd use another 8K cable to make the connection from your 4K player to either your TV (like I do) or your receiver... depending on how you want to set it up.

But my definite number one is:-
*Fifty Shades Of Grey - On DVD. What was I thinking? I heard the hype, so was intrigued. What a borefest.
I would love to see a video on the actors who bug the shit out of you, sir. Joaquin Phoenix kinda bugs me, too!
Yeah I think I'm gonna do that one fairly soon. I've been sitting on the idea/list for like 6 months, but wasn't sure whether it would be a good idea or not. But I think I'm just gonna have some fun with it and make the video soon. Thanks for watching & weighing in Steve!
Sleepaway Camp... Noooooo
I can understand the reason why. Great video as always, buddy.
Thanks Frank! Great to hear from you. Appreciate you watching.
I might have to check out "Terminal Invasion", I love rubbishy and cheesey films, I am odd like that
I either didnt see or agree with your entire list except for sleep away camp. Its cheesy for sure but in all the best ways.
@@TheOriginalFuzz If you get a chance check out the steelbook of Sicario, it's really cool.
I agree River Phoenix was the most talented of the brothers. He was the better actor by far
Joker 😢😮 that surprised me mate , actors who bug the shit out of me would like to see it mate 🎥👈🏻👍🏻😆
Feel free to check it out here: ruclips.net/video/tDIW0YzajSQ/видео.html
Also, if you're looking for a slipcovered edition that has been out for a while, you may want to check independent retailers like orbitDVD.com or diabolikDVD.com.
Enjoyed the video. How about your 10 best blind buys?
Just because a person is different doesn't make them a weirdo.
Kudos for unexpected but refreshing topic, much enjoyed, thank you. My modest little collection of 3 years has around 20 blind buys with about 6 I regret. Salt in wound is that most of the regrets had/have really good reviews that influenced me, from top critics to general public. They are:
Last Night in Soho 4k: Too ghost story genre for me, I'm over that at my old age, but beautiful cinematography.
Joker and Sicario are personally decent films, if not great films to own.
I just released a video this morning + 10 blind buy wins lol 😆
Sweet I'll check it out. Look forward to it. Thanks Stuart for watching!
Elisabeth Moss looks like a midget Frankenstein. She bugs, man!😂
I’ve watched Sicario at least 10 times, wow, are taste are incredibly different.
I still thought it was a good movie... just not the kind of film I could re-watch much.
I have watched Sicario a few times
If these are your worst regret blind buys then you are quite the discerning buyer 😂
Have you seen the original The Gambler with James Caan? The main character is still a bad guy, but the movie is quite good.
Oh dude, I love Van Damme in Enemies Closer! It’s such a fun villain performance. Nice to see him having fun doing something different.
Just wanted to ask you Fuzz - or fans here in the comments - is the 4K UHD of "Bullet Train" (2022) any good?
I haven't seen it, so I can't comment on it. I haven't even seen the movie yet.
Ghost in the Shell I didn't finish either. Got bored with it and shut it off.
2:50 Researching a film to the death before buying does not qualify as a “blind buy”
Watch the Ghost in the Shell anime films, they’re much better!
I enjoyed The Gambler I thought Mark Wahlberg did a good job in the role. I also thought that Don The Dragon Wilson is a good actor I like most of his movies.
I 💯 agree with U about Joaquin Phoenix and look forward to your "Actors that bug the $h!t out of me" list 😂. Great video 👍🏾
I think we need that list of actors you can't stand😂😂
Yeah that seems to be a fairly popular idea... a number of people are indicating they'd like to see that video. So I'm on it! Coming very soon LOL!😂
Hated Joker. Did not watch for very long before shutting off.
Sicario? Wow 😮
I agree with you on Sleepaway Camp. I have no idea why people like that movie.
Man sits in front of 1000s of movies that he has bought , Joker is not good enough to make his list , I think man doesnt like modern movies
Legit shock to see Sicario on this list. Questioning your taste in movies now. 😀
Like I said in the video, I think it's a very good movie. It's just not the type of film that I can watch repeatedly.
I'll take the Gambler or Ghost in the shell....I'll trade my 4k copy of Operation Fortune
I actually liked Black Phone. I can see why many didn't like it. It was really hyped up.
Yeah i felt the same way... the Black Phone wasn't as good as I was expecting, but it wasn't bad. I was entertained enough at the time... but it didn't really stick with me after that.
@@TheOriginalFuzz I'm glad I got the Turbine 4K, as the U.S. release was supposedly bad.
Sleepaway camp is so overrated yes. I had more fun with the campy sequels. The twist in the first film is shock shlock cheap bs that of course gets attention but not in a good storytelling way.
Old man fuzz😂
Please release the list of Actors that bug the shit out of you! Some that come to mind that bug the shit out of me or at least turn me off: Keegan-Michael Key, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jada Pinkett Smith, John Cena (feels like a bad acting hulked out version of Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Seth Rogan, John Leguizamo, Don Cheadle sometimes, Tobey Maguire, and the king of annoying Pauley Shore.
I regret buying MEN, made my girlfriend sick to her stomach hahahaha.
Yeah that one did not seem like a film I would like, so i decided to avoid it altogether lol!
One not to buy, plz Avoid this lost millions, The Postman stars Kevin Costner, very self indulgent !!!
I agree very good/great movie.
Same here for Sicario! First 5 minutes hooked me, especially when they tore into interior wall and what they found:)
Really please enlighten us of what deep philosophical ideas you have gleamed from rewatching sicario so much. Seriously.
Denzel Washington, never seen it, was guessing devil in a blue dress, you really should stop blind buying .
Why would I stop blind buying when I enjoy discovering new films for the first time on physical, and 95 percent of the time I end up with something that I'm happy owning? It's not really a problem for me.
Bro said Sicario WTF
Fuzz no 2, looks Rubbish, glad i do not own it, omg never seen your no 1 Sleep away Camp, do not own any of these so maybe me doing ok with my choices.
