I love it... I never retained length with relaxers. Now I texturize every 3-4 months and my hair is longer than it’s ever been. However, I deep condition every 2weeks and do hot oil treatments. I’m in love but it’s different for everyone😍

@Ek Hatch Relaxer can be much more damaging whereas a texturizer has less chemicals making it less likely for breakage.

Girl don't you worry one bit.
This is the beauty of African hair. It is a journey and not a boring one at that. At times mistakes will be made , other times you will find what works for you until you wonder how you lived without that hair regimen. You are still beautiful no matter what happened or happens. Enjoy the journey, good luck girl.

Lea Clarke maybe because you not doing your hair right. Like not combing your hair correctly if you keeps tangling that much. You spray your hair with water and ALWAYS keep it moisturize and start combing it. You always comb from the bottom. Never from the top and it will not tangle.

Love this Video. I had texturized hair with my boycut before growing my hair out. I always did my own texturizing at home. Never comb out the texturizer-rub with fingers. But if you want straighter edges/edges on fleek/hair gel responsive edges for nice baby hairs then you can gently press and pull the edges back with your finger while texturizer is "cooking". 2) I used men's texturizer -for some reason it was better curl pattern-wise. 3) Leave-in conditioner is bae. Texturizer tends to make hair crunchy and dry. Everyday application when hair is wet would work for me. 4) Water based hair gel (Eco) for Tinnie Winnie Afros is also bae (as was the case for me)....Perhaps I will do a 'tips' episode on Over 25 :) one day!

Im a curly girl and love my curls; regret allowing a untrained beautician to do a silk press on my hair which left it bone straight and it would not revert back. No disrespect to this video but i am going to be real with about my experience. I admit that i have thick average curly hair but during the quarantine my hair was unmanageable for about 6 mos. It was extremely thick and i was unable to comb through it. I would be so busy during the day that i just ignored it since we basically stayed home during pandemic. I decided to texturize because i would relax about twice a year but i wanted to try the natural route for 6mos. Anyway, IT WAS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE! I literally have more curls and they are ELONGATED CURLS. The texturizer makes the curls you have waaaay longer than before..I do not regret my decision and i wish y'all knew the less stress i have! To each its own but i have no regrets:)

I did an s curl texturizer last year in late May... almost a year later now my hair has broken off drastically and has horrible looking ramen noodle curls that fall out when they get wet. My hair DID NOT revert. My edges started to recede but I've gotten them under control. I through away a year of natural, shoulder length hair because I thought my curls we're too tight, nappy, not silky enough and I hated it. Now I'm doing a big chop again in 2019. Before you risk your hair for a texturizer please think "is it really worth it?" "Will my hair still be healthy afterwards?" "Do I really want this or am I doing it because I care what others think of my hair?"
Regardless of this comment and the video some people will do it anyway because sometimes enough is enough, I get it. I wish y'all the best of luck. You out here wildin 😭

A lot of them do not want to hear the truth. They would used those drastic chemicals anyway and alot of them be in denial on how these chemicals have their hair looking, because of the stringy look they like they still say it looks healthy when it doesn't. Natural will always be best.

I used to perm my hair and it would burn my scalp badly at times. Then went to texturing but noticed I would have different texturizes on the same strand. Just decided healthy hair was better than "beauty standards " idea of what is "good hair". Too many textured stranded ladies are doing so much stuff to their hair and are losing their hair. It just takes one bad chemical application to ruin your hair.

So, I texturized my hair, it was so soft, and I fooled everyone that I have very soft manageable curls. However, it's the worst mistake I made. My shoulder length hair is completely gone after 6 months (2 applications). If you have short hair, and have no care for growth, go for it. Want to maintain length, DON'T. Don't let anyone show you the procedure and not the long term results.

I texturized my hair and at first it was good but looking back I regret it... it wasn’t till after my hair started growing back healthy that I realized how terrible it was... my hair had very minimal hair growth in the 2 years after I had it in, it’s now been 4 years since I had it and it’s just now growing (with the help of hair masks and rice water), it also made my hair dry and my coils were not the same. I have 4c hair and it does get hard to manage but I’m learning how to properly take care of it and learning what works for my hair by watching videos and through trial and error

    Great video love!
I had texturized hair from 2013/2016 and for the most part since I was in high school /uni it helped with managing my hair especially the fact that when it got rained on it didn't get affected by cutting or major shrinkage and that I had a really busy schedule to start doing sijui all the dedication that natural hair calls for...😂
However around August 2016 I started doing protective styling with braids and what not just to avoid going to the salon for a few more months -times of money were hard😅-
So now in December that year I had some really significant growth and what I noticed was it was so curly and thick compared to my other hair! It was so beautiful! So I decided to try out the whole naturalista lifestyle and I've been transitioning and growing my hair slowly and been trimming it At home myself polepole tu! It's now almost the same length as my texturized hair was last year and because of transitioning I haven't felt the pain of the big chop! Plus people haven't noticed that I've been cutting my hair....tho people say it's now so much fuller and I've gotten to know my natural hair is super soft and curly, like walalo hair...Haha
But I shall still say, hair is meant to be played with and have fun. I had fun with the texturized hair as it was really good and I was allowed to do heat styling as often as I loved however damaging...and now I'm in a different stage. In every stage you learn and evolve...and it's liberating.(Secretly I want to dye my hair too)
Take it from me, both are fine. It all depends on you boo! I genuinely like both the looks you have...and that you're keeping it real.
Anyway, nuff rumbling. Cheers love, stay winning and loving your channoooo

sis, my hair is natural and really really soft. And I texturized and it was AMAZING. You don't even have to cut it out. The things with texturizer is that it washes off with frequent washes. It's not as permanent as you make it out to be. Sorry for your bad experience lakini

I havent color my hair in like a year. But last time i used a reddish color from creme of nature. My hair was dark brown and i was hoping it wont lighten up to a auburn brown. It did turn more reddish brown with a orange twist. The color i rock now is my natural color. I cut my hair real short nov last year so all the other color was removed. So yeah creme of nature and dark&lovely are my fav.

I just did a texlax on my natural hair after 3 years of being natural and it turned out AMAZING! I did mix conditioner in with the S Curl texturizer. My curls are still very present but my hair is soooooo much more manageable. I can wear it both ways now and my curl pattern looks so much better! I know I ❤️ my taxlaxed hair so much 😉 Everyone’s results are different. She stated that whoever did hers over processed her..maybe that’s why she lost so much of her natural curl pattern. I love mine and can wear it both ways now (curly - wash and go or a straight bob.

I texturised my hair a couple of times back then and it would break off or turn into some brown shade. I stopped, embraced my natural hair fully with its kinky texture, I have 4c by the way and so far it's coming out well. Texturizers, relaxers or chemicals may work for some people but not others. Yes that has also happened to me with texlaxing. And it only happens to the section of my hair that didn't really have a curl pattern in the first place. The ends get too straight and I cut them off. I wear wash n go on my hair but I have to twist or braid that section to develop a curl pattern that matches the rest. Other sections - most of my hair just develop a looser curl pattern from texturizing/texlaxing.

I texturized my hair in 2004 when I was going off to college bc I thought there weren't any black people where I was going. So I did it and it was cute but I had to wash daily for it to look good. About a 2 years later I wanted to relax it and it wouldn't straighten. I used tcb naturals relaxer for years it didn't work tried several brands of relaxers same result. Finally tried the cheap Supreme 2 relaxers for 5$ and that straighten my hair. Didn't like that I had the same hair style for over 3 years with 1 application. vowed if I wanted to go natural im going without chemicals and have been now for about 11 years l, actually starting my locks.

I'm so sorry bout your experience but it's good that you did it and it's just unfortunate that one bad experience caused all this though.
It's true, if your salonist was more keen it would have been different for sure and yeah......
About your natural hair twist outs and all, maybe you can try a different technique cause my hair used to be so full when I did them, I used to let them sit for quite a while...cause they are protective and headwraps were bae at some point cause natural hair is work.
I had textured my hair initially and it worked for me (spent like 7k on everything: products and Salon services) it served me well cause I was in school and I never had time to go to the Salon then after school I braided back to back for a year then went all the way and replaced my hair back in 2015.
Later shaved my hair in 2016 October, grew it from scratch and relaxed it again last year November and so far so good.
The tricks are almost the same: don't over work and tire your hair. I still use the same products that I used to used in my natural hair but you tone it down by like 50%. I braid my hair more often and only relax when need be.
Basically, retouched my hair in Jan, braided in Feb to April. Got Extensions in May which will give me service till mid July cause my extensions/weaves are human hair.
I also invested In a good wig for when I I'm not quite sure what I want to do with my hair or my budget demands for other things and just do nice neat cornrows that will for work for 2weeks then wash and redo them.

Try washing with a neutralizing shampoo. It should get the ph balanced in the strands. It is drying bcuz it pulls all the dirt, oils, etc from the hair. But you can follow up with another moisture/ hydrating conditioning shampoo. I skip conditioning but do a deep conditioning mask or protein treatment for 30-60 mins. Im 4c hair. Depends on hair state though. Too much protein makes my hair shed. Aloe vera plant helps with my shedding, I apply before shampooing.

I've texturized my hair for the first time too. I had a full on relaxer before which I'd relax twice a year. My hair was so little then and it was breaking, atleast now the volume is better but its still so little than I'd like to see it. I don't really know how to style my hair cause it's a weird length and like I said, little. I usually just put it in a ponytail. I had the same problem with the edges that were over processed but I'm guessing that's because I had a full on pam before. I'm midway deciding whether I can ever go natural or keep it texturized. I think I like it this way but want to ask if you can do more videos on styling texturized hair so I can get more ideas on how to wear mine.

    • @JoannaKinuthia
      @JoannaKinuthia  6 лет назад

Thanks for sharing this! I will definitely be doing more videos on how I style my hair. Texturized hair curls really well and the curls will make your hair look fuller so styles like flat twist outs, bantu knot outs, twists outs will look great.
