My dads 97 GMC Sierra has one of the under hood storage boxes but it’s missing the top not many came with that option and some that did the the boxes usually don’t make it they either got took out or broke but one thing I definitely didn’t know about was the retractable mechanics light
That's a rare find, Jay! I can only wish I could have found a truck like this one! One of the guys I watch on RUclips that is a retired mechanic says this is the best year range Chevy trucks because they were built to last, not like the new ones!
I have a 97 just like this truck but in like new condition with 69k original miles stock everything on the market, you would be pressed to find one as clean that drives as new.
I agree with you too, I prefer 88’-94’ but I like the earlier ones with the half moon gauges. Fun fact, the last year with the TBI was 95’ and that was the first year with the interior redesign!
Yep, I remember my dad buying our 1995 GMC Sierra off the showroom floor. It was one of those “conversion” models with the wider wheels. I think it stickered for around $25,000 but he got it for $21,000 because the owner of the dealership drove it as his daily and it had like 1500 miles on it. He ended up putting over 400,000 miles on it before selling it to a guy who mows yards with it. For all I know it may still run to this day. Even with only 210 horsepower it still felt pretty strong
Pawpaw really loved that truck. Will look for the auction info. Even being just 2 wheel that truck is worth a lot up here in New England. Not another one in that shape and that age most likely.
Looks like the alternator will need changed eventually since it was only putting out around 11-12 volts. My 99 Tahoe stays around 14 even with the fan and lights on. Hopefully the new owner of that pickup will get it undercoated to help preserve it since those are going up in value.
@@MXguy95 Probably wouldn't hurt to take the alternator to the auto parts store and have them do a load test on it to verify whether It's good or bad. If it comes back good then it might just have a goofy gauge that's not reading properly.
@@MXguy95 Hope you are doing well sir. I've been watching your videos for quite sometime now. Just wanted to say hey you always do a great job with your vids... Also was hoping if you could show more of your cowboy boots too?🤠😎👍
Man this makes me miss my old truck. Had a 1997 Chevy 1500 Silverado. It was extended cab two tone paint burgundy on Silver. And it also had the 5.7 L 350 vortec. I bought that truck when it was five years old for $4,800. Ended up trading that truck for 1972 Ford F100 Ranger XLT with the 360 V8.
What a rare find and I can see that bringing good money. Amazingly clean as well. Don't find many of those left with no rust anymore and not even repainted. Great video Jay and nice job saving it from the crusher! Hope someone enjoys it and keeps it in good shape.👍
I had a 96 - Old Navy Blue.....my current is a 95 z71 (Black Betty , before Old Navy I had my dad's gold 92.....then their were my first loves my 84's (C-10 flatbed, Sexy 454 Dually and y very 1st truck an S - 10)......this Chevy Girl loves her trucks!! My first playground was my daddy's dumptruck back in the early 70's :) This 96 is clean.....these beauties are going up in value for sure!!
I’ve been developing a love for these trucks recently!! I love the way they look & how reliable they are! Those 5.7L Vortec V8s are basically indestructible engines! Better than the new Active Fuel Management and all the other crap they’ve thrown in the modern ones that’s for sure!
Another great video Jay! 👍👍 I agree with you, that I prefer the ‘88-‘94, with the boxy style interior vs the ‘95-‘98 interior. Aside from that personal preference, these GMT400 trucks are awesome, regardless of model year.
Jay - I did a double take when I saw this truck. I have a ‘97 Silverado regular cab, short bed, same color as the ‘96. Mine has the original 4.3 L. V-6 with 208,000 miles. I did have to replace the carpet and headliner. It’s a rust free North Carolina truck, now living in Central Virginia. 😎 It’s a great running truck and my daily. It’s very clean as well. You think it’s worth over 10K? Not that I would sell it!!
Sweet looking Chevy Jay! I love the earlier ones as well like late 80s to early 90s. I know a guy who had a single cab rust free 88 Sierra in white with those interesting half style gauges. Great video and clean truck that you rarely ever see in that shape.👍
alot of people including me do this thing called an 0411 swap. you basically grab this pinout sheet online and you repin the entire ecu to an LS style ECU and yo have the ability to tune the vehicle. its a great thing to do and I recommend everyone to do it
I have an 01 that I cherish. My grandpa gave it to me with 162k miles on it. He bought it brand new. Nothing fancy but man everything is emaculate. Needs new shocks. Rough ride sometimes. Missed the square only by a couple years
Yup - I like the 1988 - 94 interiors better. I'd love that interior with the '96 up vortec. The 350 TBI wasn't too bad. 210 hp, but over 300ft lbs of torque. Beautiful truck though!
I enjoy watching your videos that truck was in New York it wouldn't look like that I mean if it was me I would like to own a truck like that I'm being a New York you can't afford a truck like thanks for the video bud you have a good day
The underhood light was actually designed to reach all four corners of the vehicle, so if you were to get a flat tire at night, you could change it. The storage box, that's can be removed and that's where you put a second battery.
I agree I like the older style better my self . I just worked on a 96 model with a 350v8 the other day with 301,000 miles , it had poping threw the intake and exhaust and no power running like dog crap an acted like the timing was off and I've fixed these issues before on these truck just so common. Come to find out just needed a full tune up, cap and rotor button was shot and had spark plugs changed but someone put the wrong ones in so after that it was good as new
Never had a problem with these trucks except when I can afford them the rust but the always ran and ive always got them of a construction worker on its last couple yrs shoot the one is still at my boys camp
I have had one regular cab long c2500 93 GMC Sierra slx that had the tool box behind the seat,, and the and my early 94 Chevy Silverado extended cab short bed Z71 had the tool box for the jack under the rear seat, but only one truck of several I've seen a truck my brother was going to fix it was a storage box truck under the hood on the Dr side and it was also a 96 but a k1500 Silverado had a blown up running barely but knocking 345k very decent body except doors and rockers were rusty it was green and the pewter silver that truck is on the bottom of the 96 my brother liked. I prefer the tbi 94 interior and I actually prefer the 94-97 version of the dodge ram interior but I ended up getting a 2000 with the 98 and -01 update interior lol
The color is called Autumnwood. Back in the day our Chevy dealer used car manager said “autumnwood is death to resale” that was then. This is now. Color doesn’t matter with these trucks. Now it just “gold”… which is what these things are worth now
WOW!! I know we chose the Buick....but after seeing this truck...... I would have rather seen a video saving this one!!! With a new motor.....5 figures easy. Would rather spend $12 grand on this one, than $60 grand on a new one....
I will never understand states that do "safety inspections". I feel like it's a scam that just gives the government a ton of free money. Where I live, there is no such thing as safety inspections. I've seen out of state vehicles that end up where I live with those safety inspection stickers and never really knew what they were until a few years back. Thankfully I don't have to deal with it.
So funny thing about the obs trucks there were multiple various modeld In 1988 to 1994 people think thats the end of the old gen obs well except its technically 1988 to 1995 because the 1995 had the old non vortec line of engines and 1995 trucks got the new face lift and interior but they were technically 1994 models im not kidding because im 1996 that was the first year of the vortec engines
Come on! How can a truck like that demand a five figure price tag??!! Or rather, why are people paying that kind of money! My father just bought a mint 2018 Nissan Frontier 4x4 with 30k miles on it for $15.5k. Not the best pickup in the world, I get it, but for him it's perfect and definitely better than something 25 years old with almost 200k miles on it. Why the hell would someone pay 12k for a 25 year old pickup. It's absurd! I wouldn't even entertain 5k. I don't understand the world we are living in anymore.
I love how this 25 year old truck has its original working cat and my wife's 5 year old Volvo SUV needs a new one already at the cost of $2500! And we have no choice because it won't pass inspection with a bad catalytic convertor.
I don't like the way they look, hate the seating position, can't stand how they feel driving down the road. BUT there are so damn many left on the road that they have my respect. I live where vehicles go to die and there are lots of those still around...but none like THAT one!
All of the typical problems with 90s Chevy trucks; on this they’re all working! I’ve only seen 1 of those storage boxes. Love these trucks.
My dads 97 GMC Sierra has one of the under hood storage boxes but it’s missing the top not many came with that option and some that did the the boxes usually don’t make it they either got took out or broke but one thing I definitely didn’t know about was the retractable mechanics light
I installed one in my 97 Silverado last week. I found one at the junkyard today, now I have 2 extra boxes with the lids that I’m going to sell.
Beautiful OBS CHEVY! I can guarantee that truck is not gonna go cheap at the auction.
What on earth!!! She's clean as ever!!
Nice truck, jay. Even in the uk used cars are super expensive now, but that one is worth every penny
That's a rare find, Jay! I can only wish I could have found a truck like this one! One of the guys I watch on RUclips that is a retired mechanic says this is the best year range Chevy trucks because they were built to last, not like the new ones!

Goodmorning man nice looking truck always wanted one like that 😮
Glad you got this Chevrolet C1500 back to life Jay I enjoyed the video
Good lookin truck as I do love the 90's Chevrolet & GMC trucks. Just think they are still best looking for today's slanders.
I agree with you too, I prefer 88’-94’ but I like the earlier ones with the half moon gauges. Fun fact, the last year with the TBI was 95’ and that was the first year with the interior redesign!

I had an 89 with those gauges, I loved them
Such a tidy truck. Lucky new owner.
I like these older GM pick-up trucks.
Good vehicle !
Pawpaw really loved that truck. Will look for the auction info. Even being just 2 wheel that truck is worth a lot up here in New England. Not another one in that shape and that age most likely.
Thats a great looking obs chevy pick up she'll sale fast 👍
Nice! Looking forward to the Buick part two. Lol POS Acadia and crusies
Sign me up! Love the color, long bed, extended cab. Nice!
Almost to 100k subs. Keep up the good work ☺️
Hi Jay. Really nice truck.
Sweet truck Jay!!
That is one *sharp* looking truck Jay! 😮
That’s a real cream puff it was well cared for. I like it 👍👍

With a meter it’s putting out 13.4 (I thought the same thing ) I’m not sure why the gauge doesn’t reflect that. Need to look into it.
@@MXguy95 Probably wouldn't hurt to take the alternator to the auto parts store and have them do a load test on it to verify whether It's good or bad. If it comes back good then it might just have a goofy gauge that's not reading properly.

That’s a great looking truck! Love the wheels!
those trucks are still gorgeous. You struck gold my friend!
That's quite the find you got there, Jay!! I'm very curious to see how much it'll be sold for on the auction
I’ve been developing a love for these trucks recently!! I love the way they look & how reliable they are! Those 5.7L Vortec V8s are basically indestructible engines! Better than the new Active Fuel Management and all the other crap they’ve thrown in the modern ones that’s for sure!

Some of the coolest trucks out there I’ve owned 4 of them!

i love the truck
sweet!!
This is a nice truck my dad has 95
Nice truck! I recently found a '99 Tahoe with the same colors inside and out. 97,000 miles. I want her.

Here in Indiana those trucks dont exist anymore considering they have rotted away haha, I'd love to have a pickup like this
Fancy seeing you using HDR again!
She is gorgeous!
Outstanding!
Truck may look great but how many miles are on the used engine and did the transmission get rebuilt? If not that'll be going next
This is my favorite body style.
I enjoy watching your videos that truck was in New York it wouldn't look like that I mean if it was me I would like to own a truck like that I'm being a New York you can't afford a truck like thanks for the video bud you have a good day
Forget the auction, what do you want for it? Cash ready.
Put rustoleum rust reformer under that truck it will save the undercarriage for years nice truck
The underhood light was actually designed to reach all four corners of the vehicle, so if you were to get a flat tire at night, you could change it.
The storage box, that's can be removed and that's where you put a second battery.
Beautiful truck love it i hope it sells well
So close to 100k!!!
If anyone wants a truck like this with 69k original miles same family , I have one. True time capsule.
I love that song
Ya them are good trucks nice rigs
25-30k, in Australia. Thats a super clean truck man👍
how many miles on the new engine?
Those obs trucks if still kicking and screaming they are still nice trucks for work the newest ones are $50,000 to $100,000 for brand new.
Nice truck

LOL at crackhead on a moped.
Only 5 or 6 auto auction places in N.C., which one do you go to?
That box under the hood is a tool storage compartment ive seen them on 96 and 97 Chevy Silverado not fully loaded trucks..
Never had a problem with these trucks except when I can afford them the rust but the always ran and ive always got them of a construction worker on its last couple yrs shoot the one is still at my boys camp

REALLY nice truck made back when GM made reliable vehicles now they're garbage
That will sell quickly. Back when GM. Didn't make garbage
Push the dimmer button 3 times fast it shuts off day time running lights
i would get this truck and just ls swap and drive it
Solid
Cool🥰
Curios what that went for. I’d love to have that.
I still have my 1989 Chevy 2500. Has 447K miles it will still fry the tires off the old girl!! 😂.
I want that truck so bad
NOT DEAD JUST SLEEPING
Sweet Jesus!
Me want.
I spot a Federal Signal RSH10/Thunderbeam Siren that I previously recorded. I filmed that siren on December of 2022
Jay you should buy that truck
Sounds like he doesn't like it.
Where have you been
Where’s the auction info
keep it and make it duramax 2w kinda like a drag truck

Where I live 10 to 15k all day

that is nice, id give you 250
