      Sadly, these days, smaller cars and trucks are no longer manufactured, especally regular cab trucks, everything these days has to be 4 door station wagon trucks. Not everybody needs or wants a 4 door station wagon truck when a regular cab truck suites them quite well. And today, with gasoline prices going through the roof, those 4 cylinder engines are fuel efficient and as long as you matain them properly, they will indeed last you a good, long, LONG time. These manufactures of cars and trucks of today need to get back to basics once again, that's what we all nerd to do, get back to basics once again. Personally, I much prefer smaller cars and truck myself to, especally Ford cars and trucks.

I used to own a 99 Ranger 4x4 with the extended cab and step side bed. That little truck was a tank I can tell you! I owned it for 7 years till the 3.0 blew a head gasket. I was going to do the engine work till I looked at the frame and noticed a huge rot hole in the frame so I got rid of it. I'd love to get another one. I miss my truck.

    Interesting thing about a lot of fords, the oil pressure "gauge" doesn't have a sending unit. It's just a pressure switch that sends the needle to half scale as long as the pressure is above its threshold. Notice how it just jumps there and doesn't vary with rpm

    • @alekpo2000

    Great video as usual, Jay. I have a ranger with the duratec 2.3/manual. Bought it with 113k and discovered it burned oil shortly after. It threw a rod at 170k. I put a low mileage engine in it (66k) and this engine has held up much better after putting nearly 100k additional miles on it, but i agree: lima 2.3s are less problematic. Also, the coolant/heater hoses are overcomplicated and in awful locations for a Ranger. Cant wait to see part 2!

    • @ProjectFairmont

    Nice wprk my dude. Projects like this is getting done more and more, Generally they are older, mid 60's-Mid 80's cars and trucks but hey a good project is a good project. I've always drove Classic Cars, Presently my Daily is a 73 Buick Regal but I just bought a 85 Mustang to drive while I did some updates on my Regal and then sell the Mustang but I'm starting to change my mind, The Mustang is in such great shape I thinking I'm going to keep it and drive it and make the Regal a complete tear down and long term project.

    Well he was possibly HVAC but the little 1/2 dollar you found is 3/4” or 1” knock out and there were a bunch of Romex staples on the floor. I think he or she was an electrician.

    I have a blue 99 ranger and it was the pieces missing on the cab too. I think maybe used to have a light bar or something on top.

    I got a 03 2.3 Ranger and my temp gauge always reads cool. They have a electric thermostat which are known to fail and fall apart. If you have enough coolant I'd check the thermostat, especially if it had water not coolant in it and it ices up from cool weather, it will break it..

    I got a pretty good running ranger for 500 a couple of months ago. the deals are out there, the problem is, you got to know a bunch of old people..

    A worn but not crusty Ranger is a heckuva find. Especially at that price! If you kept her you could have a matched pair with your MR2. If you still have that. At least it looks "close" to that green.

      @john242ti Год назад +1

      It'd also match his other Ranger, except, of course for the bed, front end, and taillights (other truck is a '95, IIRC)...

      I still have the Mr2, she’s pretty much put up for the winter. Thought about letting it go to have some cash to pump into other endeavors, but I can’t. It was my brothers, and I wouldn’t find another one the way I wanted it for the deal he gave me on it

      @@MXguy95 Yeah, I think I'd keep it. Get it as nice as possible, then use it, along with the Cav as your Radwood era rides.

      @@MXguy95 I regret selling mine years ago. Same color, had the caramel colored vinyl top and leather. Went through 2 sets of tires in 40k just because I liked to go through every twisty part without braking. It' was like an adult go cart. No other car like it. Not fast. Fun as hell though.

    They make a vinyl floor cover for that gen you can pull at a junkyard no problem, like it a lot better than the carpet personally

    I have a 1992 I have owned since 2000. 247k 2.3, manual. Thing still does not burn oil. But it has rusted out the brake lines twice and it even rusted out the battery cables twice and one of the alternator bolts rusted off, mechanically is bullet proof like you said. Currently one of the shock towers rusted out and the floor pans are now gone. But the parts are sooooooo cheap ! I think I bought all new floor pans, shock towers, and radiator support for about $400. Also...............yes my light is completely gone.
