- Here we go again. I gotta stay off the digital classifieds…. This time around while in the midst of working on the $500 ram, we snagged this $350 ford ranger! WITH A TITLE! It’s going to need some serious attention and love too, let’s crack into it and see what all this will take!
- Авто/Мото
My toxic trait is watching this and then immediately searching Facebook marketplace for a cheap ranger thinking that I could just fix it up real quick
Same and i never fixed anything on a car except zip tying a broken front bumper
I like using self tapers for grills
😂
Lmao😂😂🤦🏾♂️you and me both
Hey go for it! you would be surprised how much is on youtube to fix cars. alot of it is common sense
as an old guy who LOVED working on cars and trucks, I can appreciate and respect all that you and your dad know- I used to LOVE to fix cars like you do... Of course, my cars were 60's cars- much more simple to diagnose and repair. THANKS for the entertaining and informative video.
Hey I really appreciate you checking out the video! We are thankfully to have so many positive folks like yourself chiming in. I learned most of what I know from guys like you, and then some tricks of my own I develop as I get older. If You ever have any advice for us, pull up a seat by the wood stove and I’ll make the coffee. Haha
You ain’t no stranger that’s a ford effin ranger
SON OF A GUN. It’s a Ford ranger 😂
ford fnin ranger right there. yeah that's my truck
Jay , I love how you were stuck at just under 100,000 subscribers for so damn long and now you’ve blown past 100,000!! Good stuff ! Next stop , 125,000.
Good job 👍 on the truck Jay
Ford fucking* ranger
Rangers are the most reliable smol truck out there, hands down. Fixes are extremely cheap, and the frames and bodies don't rust through like other trucks.
I know absolutely nothing about fixing cars but you're videos are great. Entertaining and dumbed down enough that I understand everything going on. Great job!
Thank you so much for checking out the videos! It’s greatly appreciated! I know our camera work isn’t fancy, I just like filming and having a little audience to share things with. 👍🏻
Nothing better than a clapped out danger ranger! Been a long time since I’ve seen a clean one of these. Really liked that red one you fixed up years ago at the junk yard.
That thing turned out NICE. Fun fact, it was sold, and then sold again. And it’s STILL running around.
Happy to hear that! That was a very good lookin Ranger.
Bringing that little green ranger back to life looking great and it's also great to see a father and son working together and enjoying themselves working together
This is the type of Ranger I want! 4 banger, 2WD, 5 speed tranny, regular cab, XLT trim. These are AWESOME lil twucks!
Get it with the other engine though!
Yep. Had a 94 I drove for awhile. I can't recall ever having anything major go wrong
Got that exact truck with 670k miles on it. Original 2.3. 1996. No problems if you take care of it.
Another awesome video Jay! For those of us who don’t know much about cars you don’t make us feel like idiots. Appreciate your great content.
Thank you so much for that! I try to just bring you guys along and share things as we go. Not really so much to teach or enlighten. But just share my doings with you. Thank you again!
Love rangers, It’s always good to see another Ranger get a new release on life especially a rust free one, I’ve got a Vista Blue 2010 Fx4 off-road manual with the 4.0L
Reminds me of my '95 Ranger. Absolutely optionless. She wasn't quite as rough as this one, but we had our adventures together. It's awesome to see that there's still a few of these among the living.
(I put the bigger Explorer rim on mine... so I love that idea)
Gotta love our optionless rangers. 240k miles and she’ll go forever
I’ve been on the lookout for one of these forever lol. I love these little trucks. Hope this one won’t break the bank!
And congrats on the 100k subs! You deserve it for sure, you’re one of the best on the platform.
I’ll make you a deal on this one once I’m finished with it! Hopefully have it done before new years!
And thank you so much! I’m not in the running for one of the best. But I like to think of myself as more a senior citizen being here since 2011 😂
If you can get a 1st gen Tacoma instead they’re way better. The Mazda rangers aren’t nearly as good as the old Mitsubishis
Looks like a nice little truck...great you brought it back to life.
Great job, good work...its nice to see youand your Dad taking the time to do things right.. looking for the next video on the Ranger...
It was just a lot of fun seeing you tinker on a $350 vehicle, and that one was as good a find as ever! Great job!
Would be great to see more of the actual work and not just the results. Love bringing these older cars back to life to serve a purpose.
And just like that, the Danger Ranger is no longer dangerous. 👍👍 Good work, Jay!
I learned something today! That's the first time I've ever seen the magnet trick to reset a gauge. Cool!
Merry Christmas, Jay! I'm definitely a Ford Ranger fan for sure! Mine is a 2000 extended cab with a 3.0 V6. This has been a good engine at 360,000 miles and still going strong! This one is looking great and I know it will sell. I appreciate all you are doing to get this little truck back to life!
I’m super jealous of people like you that can fix stuff
Man I love the Ford ranger it's a good ole truck nice in small and you really brought it back to life I really enjoy this channel I'm hooked now
This was too easy. That magnet over the oil pressure gauge is insane! How did you pick up stuff like that? These videos are priceless.
Just one of those things, a trick I was taught years ago and never forgot about! Use it all the time
I'm very impressed with this restoration.
I love this stuff. Nothing fancy, just honest work and wisdom. Keep it up.
I appreciate that! I try to keep it simple
That’s a nice little truck. Little more ❤ & it could be a good keeper.
The magnet scratching on the gauge cluster cover made me want to scream lol
showing the magnet trick definitely deserved a like on the video. Good stuff
Love watching your videos Jay. Been watching for many years. Great job on this truck and will be great to get an update on it.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Truck sure seems to run good! Nice save!
Thanks for the video. You gave this one a lot of love and she’s grateful. The motor sounds good. I don’t know how is in your area but here in NJ and NY manual transmission is not very popular. Not everyone knows how to drive it and the ones that do rather not, too much traffic.
Nice video. Don’t forget the headlights spruced up. Looking forward to video to on this Rager. Good job.
Interesting thing about a lot of fords, the oil pressure "gauge" doesn't have a sending unit. It's just a pressure switch that sends the needle to half scale as long as the pressure is above its threshold. Notice how it just jumps there and doesn't vary with rpm
Love the content, thanks Jay. Peace
Thank you so much!
i want to get a used little pickup, Rangers are one of the ones
I like, so this was a great video to watch.looking forward to part 2
I’m glad I ran across this video, my ranger has been sitting for about 2 years now. I think I need to get her going again
Love how you work with your dad!!
Congrats on 100k man I’ve been waiting for this moment for YEARS. I’ve been subscribed for years I LOVE the vids man keep it up
Great job guys!
I'm cold too woowhee! Nice build, I love it. I purchased my Mazda6 for $220 and she's coming along great (Bernie's cleaner really helped out a lot with the engine and the fuel management system).
Love these finds.
Keep em coming 💪😈
That magnet trick is pretty impressive!
It’s got possibilities! I like the step sides!
I learn something new almost every video keep up the good work.
That’s awesome! Glad you got something useful from it!
Can't wait for part 2. Another great video 👍 👍
Gathering up some more parts asap! Thank you for watching
The magnet trick to fix the oil pressure gauge was great!
What a beautiful truck. Nice work.
Thanks 👍
Very nice little rig!!
My first ride was a ranger, same color, I love those little trucks, def on my wishlist to find a used one near me, keep on rocking man
Great video. You seem to get some gems. That LA Awesome cleaner and Mean Green cleaner are two of the best out there. Cleaned up n flipped a few houses with my father using those two cleaners.
Merry Christmas early
My father have the same model but double cab version back in the day
Lot of memories with it 😅
It's great to see it is being fixed rangers are good trucks if you take care of them
Some guys have all the luck! Great find Jay.
Just keep my eyes peeled for those crusty gems no one else wants to mess with!
Thanks for knocking on the quarter panel. You made my dogs freak the fuck out.
Frist time to the channel you guys are very good thanks have a happy New Year to you and dad
Jay you deserve way more subscribers - I put you up there with Vice Grip Garage. We fans enjoy what you put out there for us.
Can still hear you even when you have the salamander running brother 👍✌️
Good little rig.
Awesome video, great work! Wish I could get you guys to fix my cars 😂
Nice Work 👍🇬🇧
Just recently came across your channel and I am loving it. Compared to most other mechanic style content creators, yours has the best realistic feel and that you are just one of us, a regular dude. Other channels just feel like they are acting like they are part of the majority but really arent. Definitely enjoying your videos. You are a relatable to us working men. Question though, that cleaning solution you use to clean the insides, is it purchased or home made?
Those Ford Rangers where tough as hell. If it cranks, runs and shifts, it can be brought back cheap.
Pretty new to your channel Jay. The content you put up is fantastic. So happy i subscribed here. Keep up the amazing work!
Welcome! And thank you so much for stopping by to check out the videos. I appreciate that a lot!
Great video, subscribed last month. FYI I could hear the audio fine with the heater on. No need to freeze!!😂
Good to know! …. I’m not sure I ever went back to filter it 😅
The truck needs a little love but you did damn good for the price!
That magnet trick is slick never seen that before
Truck's just fine. ;) The pliers are looking worse and they still work. That truck will probably take good care of you with some TLC. Doin' good work there!
Cool stuff guys!
Hey Jay! Haven't been on the TubeYous in a long while, and lost all the history of watched videos. For tbe life of me i couldn't rembee the name of your chsnnel, and then boom! Algorithms brought ya back. Ive enjoyed all your cold starts, etc. i am also a Toyota fan, so all your yoda vids are fun.
I will subscribe now, so i can watch all your content again.
Cheers from 🇨🇦
Good morning Jay good luck buddy
Great trucks!!!!!
I bought a $350 Sentra out of someone's front yard three years ago, it ran and had a clear title. Still driving it. Most expensive repair so far? I just put new tires on it. Had to bang out some dents with a hammer and a dowel rod. PDR rules! ;) Love this kind of stuff.
Hey nice video I have a 2010 ranger xlt its blue I like seeing people thar care about these trucks like myself
Good build
Can’t wait for part two
Nothing more satisfying then reviving a beater pickup.
A bedliner would help, hides a lot of that damage.
U guys are awesome 👍🤜👊🤛👍💪👌🤙🇺🇸
God damn son of a gun! Thats a mother fuckin Ford Ranger!!
in 2015 I bought a 97 Ranger 4x4 extended cab for 600 dollars at a car auction. Looked good said it ran but they couldn't get it started. They originally wanted 1200 for it. I bought it jumped the solenoid and drove it away. Sadly it has a corrupted anti theft computer and was to expensive to replace so push button starter it became. I'm still driving that thing.
Just found this video, I like the way its done but wouldn't of mind seeing you put the seals in. The way you work is easy to fallow.
$350 FOR A STICKSHIFT FORD RANGER THAT HAS A TITLE AND ISNT ROTTED OUT is a fucking steal of a deal that bed is worth more than the whole truck alone down here east coast
I really love the Rangers with the step side beds. To me that makes for a sexy truck. And for $350.00 and it runs? Hell yeah!!! I would have snapped that up in a heartbeat! I used to own a 99 Ranger 4x4 with the extended cab and step side bed. That little truck was a tank I can tell you! I owned it for 7 years till the 3.0 blew a head gasket. I was going to do the engine work till I looked at the frame and noticed a huge rot hole in the frame so I got rid of it. I'd love to get another one. I miss my truck.
Nice wprk my dude. Projects like this is getting done more and more, Generally they are older, mid 60's-Mid 80's cars and trucks but hey a good project is a good project. I've always drove Classic Cars, Presently my Daily is a 73 Buick Regal but I just bought a 85 Mustang to drive while I did some updates on my Regal and then sell the Mustang but I'm starting to change my mind, The Mustang is in such great shape I thinking I'm going to keep it and drive it and make the Regal a complete tear down and long term project.
Great video as usual, Jay. I have a ranger with the duratec 2.3/manual. Bought it with 113k and discovered it burned oil shortly after. It threw a rod at 170k. I put a low mileage engine in it (66k) and this engine has held up much better after putting nearly 100k additional miles on it, but i agree: lima 2.3s are less problematic. Also, the coolant/heater hoses are overcomplicated and in awful locations for a Ranger. Cant wait to see part 2!
What’s nice about the Duratec motor though, it’s smoother than the 2.3/2.5 and just as powerful as the 3.0 V6 while using less fuel.
Lookin forward to paint .
Love Ford rangers. Daily driver is a 96 XLT with the little jump seats in the back. Has the V6 4.0 engine but it's an automatic. It was my grandpa's truck before he passed and I'll never get rid of it.
I have a 1992 I have owned since 2000. 247k 2.3, manual. Thing still does not burn oil. But it has rusted out the brake lines twice and it even rusted out the battery cables twice and one of the alternator bolts rusted off, mechanically is bullet proof like you said. Currently one of the shock towers rusted out and the floor pans are now gone. But the parts are sooooooo cheap ! I think I bought all new floor pans, shock towers, and radiator support for about $400. Also...............yes my light is completely gone.
Got rid of a 2006 Ranger a week ago the frame was trashed.Copart bought it.
1 of the best trucks I ever owned.
loved it!
Great find man I got myself a 56 Pontiac chieftain for 250
Awesome man those ford rangers are great trucks especially the older ones with the ohv 4.0 v6
Uhh… is that it? I mean I love the old pushrod 4.0 too, but… Nothing else to add this time? No friend, cousin, neighbor, coworker, sister-in-law, or substitute teacher who use to own one? …. I was waiting to see what you had this time 😅
🤣🤣
Well i did have a friend named justin pumpkin that had a 97 ford ranger but his had the 5 speed manual with the 2.3 lol
@@JackVegetables18 THERE WE GO. That’s what I expect when your name pops up.
I can sleep peacefully now. Thanks. 😂
@@MXguy95 yessir lol take care have a good one man 👍
Love the old ford rangers
Sweet find
Liquid laundry detergent will clean the interior very well ! Even the cheap soap will work.
I got a 03 2.3 Ranger and my temp gauge always reads cool. They have a electric thermostat which are known to fail and fall apart. If you have enough coolant I'd check the thermostat, especially if it had water not coolant in it and it ices up from cool weather, it will break it..
You’ve had a lot of Reynders on your channel out of the years I have watched, Plus I remember the one you saved from the junkyard five or six years ago, including your grandfathers, which I’ve wondered if you still had!
I love step side trucks!
You can never go wrong with a Ford Ranger Jay! Its actually a nice looking Ranger just needs a little paint
Thanks! Like I mentioned , hoping to paint match the fender best I can, and overal just make it easier on the eyes. Here’s hoping !
So, fun thing with the airbag light
It's actually something that can be repaired by ford, for free, because it's the Takata Airbag recall, the big one on the news from about a year ago.
IIRC from working at a dealership, its completely free, and dealerships who have mobile service can come out to YOU(if youre close enough), do the repair for you completely free of charge.
great video! i bet those wire ties are from yard running with a portable tank n the passenger seat or bed.
i love the stepside bed
"Cosby Sauce" 😂
