"Cuz, I'm a cheap French."
Lol i died
he is so cute
Furthermore there is a lot of people who smoke rolling cigarettes here
It's not a big deal if you understand the meaning :) Even I -- not being the native English speaker -- could get the point of this :)
I liked this comment to make this 666

Shlomting V In France everybody is cheap

"I don't speak future" 😂😂
I don't think French people are rude at all. If anything, i find the French to be extremely polite and well-mannered. I do think that certain particularities in French culture might be interpreted as rude to Americans. For instance, French people are very straightforward about things. They tell it like it is and mean no harm by it. For them, it's just being honest. For instance if you say "Sorry my french is not that good." an American would say "Oh no that's fine! It's better than mine! lol" whereas a French person would be like "You're right, it is pretty bad. Try to practice more or you can just speak english so it's easier for you"
Haha tbh i would never say something like "you're right, it is pretty bad", which i dont find polite at all. But I see your point, and you're right. Something that will sound polite in a culture will sound super rude in another one :)
u
Quite accurate. I have tremendous appreciation for the French authenticity. In the U.S. where I reside, the pressure to envelop oneself in a veil of false smiles and forced cheerfulness can be exhausting. My inherent temperament is much better suited to French culture.
That's complete bullshit and I'm French. All these foreign idiots are glorifying this country when it's terrible.
This is so true!!!
Ok so once again as a foreigner living in France for more than 10 years, I'ma give you my real unbiased opinion. 1 French people don't take showers = not true at all... They take showers like any other country.
2 French men are amazing lovers = That I don't know since I'm a man and I can only talk for myself, but French women don't seem to complain about it so I don't know...
3 French men are cheaters = I'd say no, they are much more faithful than many other countries I've known.
4 French men are effeminate = I would not say that they're effeminate but I would say that they're kinda soft lol.. they are not at all macho and they're not as manly as other countries like Russia or eastern Europe LMFAO.
5 they don't speak English, that is true, and that's because of the way they are taught English in school in my opinion, and also they only have French media, like everything on TV would be french even though it's an American show. for a modern rich European country they are behind on being multilingual compared to countries like Sweden, Denmark and Germany that I've been to, they speak very well English ..
6 French people are pretentious and not polite = I can't agree with that I've seen much worst!! French are very polite and not that arrogant although I must say that they complain A LOT!!
7 = French people smoke = A LOT maybe too much!! I was shocked when I arrived here and saw like 14 or 16 year olds smoking cigarettes wtf!!!!
Hope that helps... nice country and people, a lot of culture but stay away from Paris lol.
William le suisse yup I can agree to that
You are definetly true... French, don't speak english well because of the education. As a french, I find myself quite fluent comparing to the average here, but I know that I still have a looooooooooooot to learn.... And yes, a lot of peoples smoke here, I'm myself shocked, the worst is all the cigarettes butts everywhere on the floor... just disgusting...
Etienne Decosse yes those cigarettes butts on the floor is a thing here !!!
IKR when I arrived here (in france) I was driving near a school and saw like 80% of the students smoking in the front gate and I was like 'What the fuck is going on here"
Pandana Ninja same bro!!!!
The boys are such cuties😂
"Myu accentu is vedy...👌🏽"
1:35 "yes but no but yes" lol
Joungbihn Park that part was so funny 😂
Well yes but actually no
😂😂😂😂
After listening to it a few times, I think he's actually saying "Yes, better no, but yes". Or basically, it happens, it's better if you don't do it, but people do. It's hard to make out what he's saying with his accent though, he might've been better off speaking French there, lol.
The smoking stereotype is true.

Hey all, unfortunately my videographer/editor Andrew and I went our separate ways so you might see some changes in the channel over the next couple of weeks. It will be tough to transition to working with someone else so be patient :)

Let me be your videographer! Remember I messaged you on insta, indigoon haha
I hope Andrew has a good journey!

Hey @Dating Beyond Borders, why don't you do similar videos in third world countries? It doesn't have to be about stereotypes as I understand stereotypes are interesting to talk about only when they are known worldwide and for famous countries, but I would like having you here in my country Morocco (I saw you made a video here before, but it wasn't as interesting as the rest of them)

Noooo dont try losing its sexy and funny!
@@lovelycat5674 It sounds so ridiculous to me, it's like I'm forcing myself to speak with a french accent and it sounds so bad. Funny yes, sexy not so much...
@@MNGxGhost complètement d'accord avec toi
Gary who lied to you to make you lose you accent? Terrible!
You really shouldn’t try to lose your accent. And not just because of how many people think it’s sexy. People who understand a language will always be able to understand you when you are speaking that language correctly, no matter how thick your accent is. And, speaking for myself, as a native English-speaker, it’s really fascinating to hear anyone whose native language isn’t English speaking English and to try and understand how the qualities of their native dialect shape the way they speak any language.
I’m a foreign student living in France. And I can totally disagree with the stereotype of French people being rude,it’s literally the opposite .. Why?
Because whenever some french person that you don’t know passes by and sees you ,he immediately say :Bonjour =Hello.
I’m not kidding, they do that especially in my school (the teachers take the initiative some times)
+ they are so helpful.
I never have or will believe any stereotype about a country . Because we should not generalize ,every one is different.
What reunites us all is the fact that we are ALL brothers and sisters in humanity ..:D
Arianator Guy ouais ça c'est vrai on dit généralement bonjour quand on croisent quelqu'un

I don't think that's true personally, I try myself to say " have a good day" to everyone I see in order to relax their mind and have a better day. Most people would be surprised if a stranger say have a good day at blank without context.
French people are rude smoke way to much and complain way to much
@@Velpak I see the description of a Parisian not a french. In my town, everybody say "bonjour" in the street, not doing it would be very impolite. But in Paris that's the opposite doing it is seen as weird

The guy in grey speaks English very well.
I hope everyone realizes that most of these questions can never really have a solid answer because it all depends on the individual. You will find this absolutely EVERYWHERE. I've met with one French couple(tourist) in my hometown. At first they hesitated to talk with us but after 5/6 minutes of conversation they felt comfortable and we end up discussion politics, society and education. Very warm hearted people and open minded 💚
As a Frenchman, I appreciate seeing people from my country speak English in videos. Even when their accent sounds horrible, at least they're breaking another stereotype and show that we in fact do learn English and (for the most part) have no problem with it.
Actually I think french accent is pretty cute. 😘😘
The French accent is one of my favorites (when speaking English) and I think a lot of people agree with me. Would be unfortunate if you lose it altogether and sound like us. Don't do that! :0)
@@Timotimo101 French people dont like french accent, me im french and i can speak english but if you ask me to talk with an english with my french accent i would say no
@@cora5859 Je compris. :o)
@@cora5859 the majority of Americans love French accents. We really do. One thing about most Americans is that it doesn’t bother us at all if someone is struggling with English. We will gladly help. There is however one big exception- Trump supporters- what I call Trumpanzees. They are largely uneducated and not very intelligent as a group. They are an embarrassment to our country.
I see a lot of people commenting "France is not Paris". I've been living in Paris for 6 months, and people are actually kinda nice. Infrastuctures are not (subway too crowned, not enough parks, too much cars, ...).
Paris is one of the most populated city, without even counting tourists. It's the first visited city in the world, I think it's mainly the reason for all of this rudeness tourists seem to experience ;)
Alicetescheveux I think it stems more for the tourist who don’t speak French and expect us French to all know English... or put in the effort to stumble over the English words... shit I can type a good English sentence but the moment I speak it, it comes out sounding like a babbling baby.
It's more about how paris people treat other french as good as shitbags. “is paris a good place to live” is a day to day debate in france
Most of Parisians are not Parisians at all and come from all of France, that's a weird debate in my opinion haha
...To support your point... I'm originally from Sancerre...
I mean that most of the people who live in Paris are not originally from Paris

Reactions about stereotypes ?
Stereotypes of Americans from all around the world. There are plenty of differences between how we're perceived, depending on which country you ask. Russia would obviously perceive us differently from Italy from Israel...
Hi Marina (my contribution of stereotypes):
americans despise other cultures
americans are uncultivated
americans hate to watch movies with captions
americans love junk food
americans are racist against latinos and black people
americans are anti-intelectuals
I 'd suggest you ask some questions of general knowledge (because american are pragmatic) into these stereotypes; depending of the answer it should bring to light if this stereotypes are false or true :)
Dating Beyond Borders Malaysian women would be nice
"I'm a cheap French."
Same. Lol
Are you really French? I think you’re the first French person I’ve seen who actually capitalizes the word “French”.
I never had any problems with the French people I met. I think they are pretty amazing. Bit hard for me to understand them though maybe because of culture difference. I find them mostly very honest which I really appreciate.
I loved this video! I think it was a great idea not to go to Paris. As you can see we all have the same low opinion of Parisians, but every region in France has its own clichés. Generally speaking this video reflects reality. We do smoke a lot, we take showers every day, we don't speak english very well, we're not all effeminate (yeah it's worse in Italy) and we're not amazing lovers (but it's true we kinda love all girls so...). To finish I would say that we're not arrogant, we are proud patriots and we love our amazing country just like americans are proud of the USA. And yes a lot of us are big fans of the US and Japan.
Everyone was very interesting and likable, especially the young boys (adorable), but the french guy in the grey shirt (Retour) = hilarious, witty, endearing etc... "The camera loves him" as they say. He should have his own show.
French men are complicated and the first impression can be negative, but they are good inside. Very sensitive and a bit fragile. And they consist of contrasts, pragmatics and romantics at the same time. They love to complain, yes, but c'mon all men love to complain to their women, it's not only French people. As Russian, I can say that French and Russian people are different, but they are very similar at their craziness. 😂 Maybe that's why Russian-French couple is often a good match. I don't know if French people rude or not, cause I am Russian 😂 I don't understand American standards of being nice and they seem to me too much to be honest. People don't owe to act happy and excited every day and French culture is based on reflexion, introspection. It's the culture Russia was always inspired by and it had big influence on Russian literature, philosophy and political ideas. I don't want French people to loose their culture while trying to be more acceptable by others.
Just loved that comments ;) Merci :D
It's annoying how the girl in the polka dots won't let her friend speak
LittleLulubee - Narcissists do that mostly, always trying to divert the conversation back to them. I'd dump those kind of 'friends' like a bad habit.

I went to Paris 4 years ago and didn't speak a word of French and I saw nothing but super nice French people who actually when out of their way to try to speak English with me so the rude stereotype is definitely NOT TRUE!
wtf? Where did this stereotype that french ppl don't shower come from? Whaaat, french ppl are really clean
Leena Shadi I think it comes from the war period.
PHComments oh that's a good point, thanks for answering
I would rather say that it comes from the 17th century when nobles people wouldn't shower for weeks even months... And, as it was the period of colonisation, this habit was spread around the colonies and so, eventhough we evolved, people in the colonies still believed for a long time that we weren't showering (because we were separated mostly by the ocean so news took a long time to reach the colonies).
I think that explains the stereotype
Las patatas ok thanks for answering!
PHComments True. Also the "hairy armpits". Soap was rare in wartime. There was a shortage of it. American soldiers who dated French girls when France was liberated came back to the USA with that story about French women.

As an American, from my experience working with french people, they are cold on the outside and warm on the inside.
They are distant at first but their hearts are good. As an American I like to make friends quickly but i can understand that french people are not used to that and prefer friendships to develop naturally overtime.

Nearly two decades in France and I'd like to come to the defense of the Parisians who, though they might be not as friendly as in some other parts of France, warm up well once you've broken the ice. And once they're friends, they're very good friends who will be considerate. Also, on the speaking English thing, they are more shy than anything. I think it's because of the French schools, where they're not encouraged to make mistakes. French are frightened of looking foolish sometimes, more so than other cultures. So they come across as a little closed... but really, they're just being careful...

Interviewing the teenagers was great. They're reactions to the questions were cool!
My opinion from ppl i've met online on video games. Generalized speaking, French tend to be very personal, and they are very sensitive to their own benefit. They give up really fast if they think it's not gonna work. The impression i had is they put far more value on themselves than the team they are in, which is very opposite from Germans.

I disagree on all the negative stereotypes. I'm a Filipino married to a French.
Kamusta mhie? Ayos ba?
where I live we don't say "hello" in the street to strangers. I'm not living in Paris and yet, we don't do that. And it doesn't mean we hate strangers: this is not a thing we do, that's all.
In contrast, we say "hello" when we enter a shop, and we don't expect the vendor to be our servant, that's a basic rule for us.
Also we don't tip as much as in US (for instance), because the waiter is already paid by his/her boss. Plus, as French, I think waiters are not really kind in France. Waiter's kindess is nice cue of the overall quality of the place you want to dine or have a drink. SO... if the waiter is rude, just run and find a better place. A rude waiter means bad manager, means unhappy workers, bad kitchen and so on.. run...

Great video, very entertaining! I love French men, and French culture, in general. However, I have to say I am a bit biased because my mum’s dad was from the South of France. He was very handsome, and also yes, he was a famous ‘coureur de jupon’ (aka skirt chaser). I grew up in Chile, hearing about how wonderful and refined French culture is. For example, In the royal courts of Europe, Russia, it was ‘de rigueur’ to read and speak French fluently. But of course, it is never good to generalize. I am just grateful to have learned French, it is a beautiful language. French men also are incredibly sexy, yes, there is a softness when they speak is, that is true, and it is heaven to my ears. Cheers from Canada

I wouldn’t say that French people are typically polite. For instance, people in Quebec say to each other good morning every time when they have the eye contact and even if they don’t know each other at all they do it too. However when I came to France, I kept the tradition of nodding and saying good morning to other students of my school when we met each other in the corridor, they got really shocked and they refuse to give a positive response. After a while I stopped saying bonjour to those who I don’t know cause it really made me awkward...

French definitely speak English. They can tell your English so even if you try to speak French they save you the trouble and speak English. Along with every other country I have been to. If you are searching for the meaning of beauty just look at the girl @ 2:50. I know God has made a lot of breath taking creations but she is one of the few we can call His masterpiece.
They complain about French who do not speak english, but the journalist needed the help of a French woman to translate because she can't speak our language😧😧 i'd say English are way worse in learning foreign languages than French (btw forgive my mistakes i'm french)
"French dont take shower"
French guy: no thats fast... its totally fast...
