General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) is making a new round of upgrades to its Fort Wayne Assembly plant to further increase production of the all-new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups - especially crew cab models.
We are building Chevrolet and GMC crew cab pickups at record volume and mix levels to meet customer demand and the $24 million investment will allow us to build even more,” said Mary Barra, GM chairman and CEO. “The team here at Fort Wayne has done an outstanding job helping us satisfy customers throughout this launch. Our product ramp-up was very smooth and the quality has been exceptional. Crew cab sales have been very strong, and we are expanding customer choice with new models, more cab choices and innovative new powertrains.
Combined sales of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab pickups, which launched in the second half of 2018, were up 20 percent in the first quarter of 2019 versus a year ago. GM is projecting another significant increase for the second quarter. Customer deliveries of the double-cab models built in Fort Wayne began during the first quarter. Авто/Мото
Great Job Fort Wayne Plant. Every G.M. Truck I purchased made there has been Excellent. Thank You to all the workers for making a fine product.👍😀
I’m drooling watching all of those LS engines roll down the line like candy. If only truck prices weren’t so inflated.
@Dobbies Revenge YES THEY DO . i have one , the thing is its a new generation LS now known as the LT or LT1 but the base of the LS is still there
jay webb he’s not talking about the engine not the accessories package
jay webb Good to hear they are still using the platform
The LS is not used in current trucks. 2007-2013 used an LS based iron block. Newer trucks have an LT based L83 or L86
Bruce Kircher Well thank you for clearing that up. I’ve heard both sides online. Funny there’s not a definite answer anywhere.
My Denali was assembled and this factory and it’s been a good truck no issues at all 👍🏻
My 2018 Sierra came from Fort Wayne I have put 24000 miles on the truck and not one issue with the truck very reliable.
3500kms on my 2019 Sierra and the radio has shut down twice on me and came back on when it wanted?? dealer says???
I like the part where the humans do something
I like the part where all the trucks were white.
These GM trucks are SO much better looking than the tired F150s
Idk what your smoking lol, but I need some
I'm still enjoying my 92 GMC Sierra. Paid $11, 625 there abouts for it...Can't afford these new ones.
I used to drive an 01 extended cab... now i drive a 2011 GMC Denali theyre great trucks only reason i got a new one because of space and it was ready to go how i wanted it
Picking up my new 2020 GMC AT4 on Thursday, kinda cool to see how they are put together
It never ceases to amaze me the number of people that think a GMC is "different" than a Chevrolet! Built on the SAME assembly line one after the other! The REAL difference? The PRICE!!
Well, the GMC's do look better...
Better interior everyone knows it’s the same car lol
Trabalho lindo só tem pick up top são lindas maravilhosa 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
My 2019 was THAT one!
Nice
I'm always fascinated by the assembly of these trucks, but I'd love to see how the complete dash is built for these vehicles
9:10 to 9:13 is actually a small snip of the instrument panel line. I am not sure why it was thrown in there amongst the rest, but hopefully it will give you some insight
Do a video of GM Oshawa before they close
Nice looking trucks.
i love my gmc denali
Wow i can already see it rusting on the assembly line 😂
whaat im a 7 year old and i was planning on getting a gmc sierra when i grow up
I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 since new, built in Dec 05, does NOT have a spot of rust on it..... anywhere
10:33 Love the way this man has Pride in his craft... Bravo.
i like how the robots are so intellegint
the humans barley do anything all they do is wipe the truck with there hands and feeling the texture if its good
Does anybody know what kind of GMC that is at 10:04 it has painted molding it’s not like the regular GMC’s that have the flat black
If it's not a Denali it's probably a Silverado of some kind... the plant makes both
Kaiser Seagull oh ok
my 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation X31 has painted everything pretty much except inner wheel well trim and a piece around the tow hooks on the front.
1:47 no hearing protection?
Did you fix the 8 speed transmission problems yet?
Yes
Yup and its the 10 speed Combo with ford now
no backgorund music, nice.
Business insider just put out a article today about peak car sales
Man I wish GMC had a better interior. The exterior is gorgeous.
i think so 2
I lived in kokomo, just south of fort Wayne for 16 yrs. Is there any way I can get a voucher for a discount?
Looks nice about the best thing I can say about them. Quality...
Hmmm quality ?
Is that a scrap metal plant?
Knight Rider that would be the Ford plant, sir!
Yes, that is there local scrap yard. Funny the GM guys get upset about that.. But I challenge any of them to take on my 2018 F-150 with the 3.5 eco boost. We can race, we can pull whatever, we can go off-road. Anything they wanna do my Ford can do it better
Yes is trash chevrolet. FORD FOREVER!!
What's with all the body plugs in the rockers? I noticed this the other day on a white truck at my local GM dealer. They stick out really bad on a light colored truck.
My guess is the holes allow the rust proofing to get in when they dip the truck.
That makes sense but it really is noticeable on the lighter colored trucks. I guess one more thing I don't like about them. Thank you.
The holes are so they can chain them down in transit. Plugs get put in at the dealer. They throw a bag of em in the glove box for when prep time comes...
@@auxmike Maybe we are not talking about the same holes. As I doubt they chain down a truck using small oblong holes in the rockers.
Nice .. jop
Can you get a Truck made in Ft. Wayne if you live in S. Texas? I would rather have one assembled by U.S. workers.
nice
🚴🚴🚴
61 k wow buy it used in 6 month
Try buying one of these in Australia........100k in American dollars. 130K for the 3500 dually.
Even my 2014 I got recently was priced kinda steep ..
Can you build me a new 90s model? Those were better trucks. Affordable too
Just go back in time George...
Looking for my truck help. 19 Silverado LD CUSTOM (old style) summit white
عالی بود
Gm half tons made in usa
How can I tell if my truck was made at Fort Wayne ?
decode the vin number on your truck
If this is a GMC plant, why does the tail gate have CHEVROLRT stamped on it ?
They make both on the same assembly line.
But why do they rust out for the money they get for those trucks they need to last a lot longer
can i get one that the paint will peel off like my 2013 gmc sierra
درود بر آمریکا
I realize that GMC and Chevrolet are related but why does the 2019 GMC have a tailgate that says Chevrolet
The plant creates both the GMC Sierra and the Chevy Silverado. The video title for some reason only says GMC Sierra.
🇺🇸💪GMS
Could you start buy sending me a bare frame so I can coat it properly and i will just put an 80s cab on it so i can get a sticker when i got a thousand dummy lights on
@@spazoq why dont you undercoat with oil???? spray down the frame with oil you shouldnt be lazy and let the frame rot
Thank the Lord for having two different styles because those Chevrolets are hideous
They arent bad my uncle got one and i saw it up close looks good... but yes the GMC does look better
I never liked the look of the Chevy, the Sierra has always been the better of the two anyways.
So much for all that chaulking, it still leaked like a sieve.
Seems like a loud place to work.
T Sav yes final assembly plants can be loud places ,it depends where in the plant you are.
He seems to have turned down the volume but yes, it is loud in General Assembly especially
Y pensar que trabajando ahi no nos podemos comprar una de esas
자동차 한대 주세요 공짜로요 갖고싶어요
돈은 없어요 ㅠ ㅠ
Iam not have enough money to buy this..,,give me one plisss...hahaha
love robots
Can't get a regular pick up truck from gmc anymore. New trucks suck, cab is tool long, box is too short.
It’s not a GMC but a chevrolet
But a ford and don’t worry about it lol
The plant makes the GMC Sierra and the Chevy Silverado
Should still be built in Canada.
First comment and first view
Weird, those robots don't look Mexican even though they took all the jobs....
Wow no wonder the paint for GM trucks is horrendous. They barely put a single coat on it! Quality is going down hill for sure.
Yup makes sense why they chip so easily
11:11 doing nothing, and that's why they cost so much...
She's working on the final line which is essentially quality control. I can assure you this is also not the entirety of her job
No humans work there why were they shut down for corona
i dont like robots or 50k $ trucks built by them
They look miserable
And that's why people loose their jobs and trucks don't last as long as they use to, because of robots.
Bodys and frame looks good but the engines and transmissions are TRASH!
THE NEW MODELS ARE LAME NO LUXURY INSIDE THE 2012 DENALI IS WAY BETTER MUCH MORE WOODGRAIN ALL INSIDE THESE NEW ONES ARE NOT UP TO THE LUXURY STANDARD PSHH
Ugliest trucks on the market, I’ll stick with my 2014 Sierra
Tundra
at the end "landfill free site" the whole site IS a landfill. sorry folks but gm has not made a vehicle i want in years and their prices are outrageous on their trucks.
