    today I went on the streets and saw my neighbor taking good care of his saab 9-5. It's nice people cherish their saabs. I hope saab's car last as long as possible.

    Man I gotta go Saab shopping in the Southwest or Cali.....that undercarriage is so minty! We are up here replacing subframes and quarter panels at this point. Lol. Nice to see how well the Arc is being cared for. Gonna last forever.

    I've used that 2k clear quite a bit, I'd recommend wet sanding the headlight first then applying the clear wet. Don't mist it as it causes that problem.

    It's bc, like anything you clear coat, you need a heavy coat. Makes all the difference.

  • @eliaskron4653

    When you spray the clear coat on headlights i think you need to use a "wetter" coat, from what i've seen that is.

    Yo jacob nice work man, very nice thing with the coil cover. Here's a tip for next time or for anyone wondering about Automatic geabox fluid change (this is only for ones with dipsticks likes Jacob's, NOT and I repeat NOT any DCT or other, they are VERY different):
    ATF (automatic transmission fluid) expands when under heat. When doing an oil change you it won't drain the trans cooling lines, valve body and so on. When pouring in new fluid you need to start it and run it. Let it suck in the new oil and circulate it. Run the car to operate temp and check the gearbox oil. While engine idles and warming up trans oil, select it threw all gears while stationary, do NOT actually drive the car. When the gear oil has reached a specific temp check the dipstick. If it just under the line for HOT you are good to go. If too low add oil and if too much drain a little.
    Hope this helps anyone wondering about Auto boxes :)

      If your ATF fluid is at the corect level before you start I don’t see why you would need to go to this trouble? Just keep track of what drains out and replace with the same quantity of new fluid. Always has worked for me,

    • @Voight007
      @Voight007 27 дней назад

      @@AutoAutopsy Yeah, they're just a standard orange PY21W with a chrome finish. Well they're not that much shiny as Philips shows on their website, you can clearly see they're yellow. But definitely they'll do the job and remove that 1980's Benz look. Perfectly legal. Light is a little more yellowish instead of the standard amber ones

    Nice! I used that clear coat for some finish work on the hood of my car and it's great stuff. The separated hardener is a great feature and gets you a better final product.

    Since there will be orangepeel on the 2k clear spray job, maybe you just have to do a polishing compound cut, polish and buff like they do with clearcoat paint to remove the orange peel and turn that clearcoat to glass? Just spitballing.

    You must wet sand the headlights with 1000 sandpaper max, no polishing. Then you apply 2k clear coat, otherwise there is nothing clear coat can adhere to. The surface is too smooth. After clear coat has cured then you can polish it as you would polish the car

  • @Hagis2k
    @Hagis2k 28 дней назад

    You did the 2k clear wrong first a tack coat, spray it down so you get a tacky surface then you spray like you do normally with a spraygun. Start pressing the nozzle down outside the area and sweep it through from left to right, make sure you get it to "flow" without runs, put the can in the fridge then ity lasts much longer I did both my headlights on the 9-5 it became perfect repainted a door too. So next time please put down a tack coat feel on the masking when it is tacky then it is ready, and please no hard edges on the masking fold the edge on the tape 2-3mm ir 1/16 of an inch redo the headlight as I say and I can guarantee the result will be perfect :)
    And you need to sand too wetsand 240-400-800 then clear them that is the best you can do

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  28 дней назад

      Thanks for the advice. I followed the most consistent instructions I could find online and it obviously gave me a bad result 🤣🙃

    That cabin filter went nice and easy, even quicker than on a 9000. Good Saab didn't copy that useless filter setup as on the 9-5. Considering the headlights, does that clearcoat contain UV-protector? If not it is not of much use. If I remember correctly Project Farm tested several restoration sets a few years ago. The Osram/Sylvania kit came out best. I used that one (had to import it from the US) 3 years ago on one of the 9-5 head lights and it still looks good. The clearcoat in that kit contains UV-protector, which you need to keep the lights from deteriorating again.

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  28 дней назад

      @@AutoAutopsy It looks like it will do a great job of keeping heat and vibration away from the ECU (better than the spacer mod) but I'm hesitant to start cutting up my wiring harness. Something else I wanted to mention was that my driver side tail light cover (the red plastic part) fell off when I hit a big pothole the other day. I didn't realize until I got home and had to buy another off ebay for about $200 after shipping and tax. Just a heads up to check if the glue on yours is starting to fail like mine did. Better to catch it early.

    I don't know, but maybe the headlights result depends on the clear coat, what solvent it is based on. For example, some solvents like acetone can make transparent plastics hazy
