One way to check O2 sensors is to pull up the live data and make sure the voltage alternates. It should never be stuck at one voltage as the switching is indicating that the computer is making adjustments to the air fuel ratio, operating as normal. Downstream O2 doesn't affect performance. Its job is is to simply report that upstream is doing its job. Glad you got her running.
PS. Def mainly here for 9-3 content.

Hi Jacob! That's a really big bummer about your fuel pump issues. It's strange everything was working great after the Walbro retrofit and out of nowhere it started to fail. Your black nylon flex lines look seated good, not kinked and well clamped. I don't have experience with Racetronix pumps to know if they're typically loud whiners (it's okay me too lol) but at 19:06 the pump sounds strange. Definitely sounds like it's starving of fuel while the cars misfiring, shaking and likely sloshing fuel around. I wonder if the filter that goes on the end of the pump is sitting too high, too low, or even at an odd angle in the basket causing the filter to be pinched off? During my rebuild, the AEM pump I used was much smaller in diameter than the factory pump, so I added a large metal worm drive clamp around the pump to keep it from moving up and down. Another thought is definitely cavitation and sounds like what Maptun is leaning towards. At 17:16 there should be an o-ring on the end of that leftmost black piece of basket. That piece is a cover for an internal filter and the tip is where the o-ring should be. The o-ring might be in the basket at that frame of the video but I imagine if that isn't seated well it could cause cavitation issues. Keep up the good work my friend!

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  5 дней назад +1

Thanks for the advice! I watched your video a few times while doing this job 👍🏼🤣 that o-ring you mentioned was in the backer during that shot, but I do wonder if maybe the pump is somehow moving up/down, or one of the black plastic lines is kinked 🤔

Btw if you keep having fuel pump issues the way I made it easier is take out the back seat cushion and cut a circle hole in the thin metal underneath. This lets you get access easily to the fuel pump from the top without removing the fuel tank, having to jack it up, or anything.

Don't care about the Audi, it may be a great car but it's not my thing. Miata may be fun to watch with such a project. But otherwise it is Saab that counts for me. Shame that two new fuel pumps give trouble after such a short time. I agree with Tony from Uncle Tony's Garage that aftermarket parts nowadays are quite often junk. Had to replace rear bushes on the 9-5 after only one season, on all four the flexible boots were torn and brittle. On the 9000 I had to shift the outer cv joint boot after only a year; happily enough the cv joint had survived. Looks as if aftermarket producers use cheaper, lower quality materials than OEM producers did, which is a shame as material cost isn't the big price changer.

Wystarczy dremel. Pozdrawiam serdecznie z Polski.

There are Bosch Fuel Pumps available. As for the O2 fault P0131.
    WIS states the following:
    Fault criteria:
When voltage across oxygen sensor 1 is less than 100 mV while voltage across oxygen sensor 2 is more than 700 mV for more than 30 s.
So Sensor 1 (Upstream) was saying you are running Lean, while Sensor 2 (downstream) recorded a Rich condition. So for the ECU the signal was implausible.
Personal advice: Take those O2 Sensor/Wire faults serious, if they cause a too lean/rich condition it can grenade a engine. Also only Buy OEM, for Saab its Bosch who makes them. Also note, Life expactancy for the Bosch Sensor is ~170 000km.

I must say that I don't regret I sold my 2004 9-3 last spring and got me a low milage 1998 9000t CSE in stead. Sure, it has some issues, too, but except for the immobiliser (which I am waiting for a guy to disable), it just runs.
Okay, the ignition key is placed at the steering column, but the 9000 is still a Saab, and one of the best ones in my opinion, especially for long-distance trips.
Good luck on finding the fault; it's always a frustration when a brand new spare part doesn't help.

@@AutoAutopsy Sounds great. However, my 9-3 had passed the 160,000 miles mark and started having larger issues, like a leaking aircon which would have cost $1.000,- to repair, one third of the sum I paid for the 9000 with a working a/c and 60,000 miles lesser on the clock.
But even though the 5-door 9000 is a good-looking car, the design of the 9-3 sedan was bang-on. Even today it's a better-looking car than many contemporary ones, especially most EVs.

The problem with the 9-3, however, is that you have to take the entire dashboard apart to get to the cooling unit which makes it expensive if you have to pay a pro mechanic to do it, like I'd have to. Jacob, Sorry to learn that you had such a bad day ! Like the viewer commented below : the gauge cluster could be part of your 03 Saab problem(s). Per my Saab Mechanic, never try to put newly design electronics into your Saab unless its within 1 or 2 years production of your Saab or there will be conflicts as newly designed electronics are not for older version. Just like you install a Window 11 to a computer originally designed for Window Vista, there are so many things NOT COMPATIBLE ! ! Like at the end of this video, you put the original fuel pump back on and she comes back to life ! Good Luck and love watching your videos !

While my '99 9-3 5spd cv is (still) at the body shop, I'm driving an '08 9-5 wgn 5spd. Both were sitting a few years, the 9-3 long ago in CA, the 9-5 most recently in MA. So it's going through many of the same things as the 9-3 once did of getting back on the road, specifically to do w/the fuel system, and the 9-5 fuel pump gave out a few weeks ago on the highway near home. AAA brought it to my mechanic, but I've really got to get the premier level for longer tows. In June, I was carless for ten days. Anyway, my mechanic told me the same about the fuel pump, and now the 9-5 has a CEL P0442 needs new EVAP valve. All to be expected, or so I tell myself...

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with my car. When I park the car and try to start it the next day, it won't start from the ignition. To get it going, I have to connect a cable from the relay to the negative terminal while the car is in the start position, then the car starts. After I do this and drive the car for about an hour, it starts normally with the key without any issues.
I've replaced the battery with a brand new one, but the problem persists. I noticed that if I disconnect the battery cables overnight and then reconnect them the next day, the car starts. I also tried using jumper cables from another car, but that didn't help. The car only starts by connecting from the relay.
Could it be the engine control unit not sending a signal to the starter motor? I've also replaced the relay, but that didn't help either. Does anyone know what this could be?
    Thanks!

It sounds like you might have a parasitic draw. If this is a NG 9-3, try unplugging the amp1 overnight and see if the car is still dead in the morning. That’s the most common cause on the NG’s
