it's 100% a japanese car it's only put together in the uk. and yes it is really the most underrated Type R they ever made!
You guys are lucky to have access to a rare honda. But truth to be told the accord and especially the honda prelude were over shadowed by they're smaller siblings over here in North America. The H22 lump used to be called the big block of the 4 cylinder vtec engines back in the day....

@@Runaeh wouldn’t say dumb, the parts have become scarce over the years and things like that type R momo wheel arnt made anymore, little genuine bits and pieces like that will only rise in value the more cars are broken for parts / written off/ crashed
I remember playing this car in Grand Turismo, and seeing those taillights always threw me.
Like stated in the video, in America, we never had this Accord let alone a Accord Type R.
It was this car and the EK9 that got me into JDM cars.

These were built for BTCC Homologation. Same ilk as the Primera GT, Laguna 2.0 16v, Vectra 2.0 GSI etc... They all had little aero add-ons to allow the race team to run modified factory aero, the Alfa 155s were notorious for this.
Primera gt , got one of them for a similar price for this accord about 15 years ago .

Before watching the rest of the video I just had to pause and sya that I have a ATR myself and I _LOVE_ it. Its not fast, but its really fun to drive and that H22 just sound so good. And they look fantastic imo. Glad to see one on this channel. I will now resume watching and see if you decide to keep it or not :p
As a ATR owner I totally agree with you, it's not the fastest car you can get, but man it's definitely one of the most enjoyable car you can have. I love literally every single second I'm spending in mine. And as well I LOVE it.

Random facts:
The steering wheel is a Momo shared with the Ferrari 550 Maranello, Facelift EK9,DC2-R and CL1 Euro R.
The Recaro seats are shared with the Lancer Evo 5 and the CL1 Euro R.
The wheels are the same as those fitted to the Prelude Motegi.
The accords never got the love they deserved. Accords and preludes were soooooo good !

I had one, so good to drive, but also 95% of them are now absolutely rotten. Watch out for the headgasket failing at 150k miles too. Terrible car, but absolutely brilliant.

The recaro seats are called SP-J. They are the most comfortable recaros I have ever sat in, so good I have them in my MK4 Supra

What a mad car! I feel like they had these on one of the early Gran Turismo games as I learned about them a long time ago some how. Had a 91 accord as my first car, so I still have a bit of appreciation for stuff like this.
Remember to check bulkhead above accelerator pedal inside is normally the killer of these

This is a really cool find. Hope you guys do end up reinforcing the rusty parts so that the car can enjoy a second life as a fun track car and not just fold itself in two.

Fucking around with the type R key ring, jacket, logbooks, and badge was great, then topped off by the 90’s spec footage, so good. I honestly love the channel as just normal people into cars doing what they enjoy

Its sad that the younger generation only wants TDIs with a bunch of smoke. Even the hondas are getting left behind for the majority...
FN2 Civic Type R's are the ginger stepchild of the Type R family, I used to have one! Love them.
I have that type r jacket! Genuine Honda dealer spec, they didn’t sell because they were so expensive. Offered to workers for a reduced price (£140)

Maaaaaaaaad excited to see the progress on this one!!! I had one of these a few years back. The seats would have been Recaro Trendlines - they always fade really badly from black to a dark greeny colour... IMO they would have benefitted from a sixth gear like the CTR's had but still a REALLY practical, fun, speedy car :) The colour on this will be nighthawk black or pirate black depending on whether its a pre/post facelift (Pre facelift have exhaust cutouts in the rear bumper from factory, post facelift models dont) :)

Ive got the normal Accord CG8 and the Rust problem is absolutely not relatable. Underneath the front wheel wells there is some, but its pretty much all of it and the car has never been taken care off by the preowner

The reality of why lads around my age are all into felty yokes is when youse were young glanzas etc were the price of a mk4 or a bora. It’s basically the only dirt cheap and insanely tuneable car available this weather can tune a 130pd to near 250 brake reliably for not a lot of money and still run it on red diesel
Hondas are definitely one of the rusty ones alright, but can bring great smiles per bucks! That engine will outlast that chassis! Be a handy swap into a nice hatch or coupe! Was one of the go to before k swaps! Got a fn2 myself recently to trash about at mondello soon aswell
I’ve had an ACR sitting the shed this past years and just started getting her fit for the road again recently. Shes originally English, was used in around London and has about 75k miles on her, this videos probably the kick in the arse I needed to get her going to fuck😂

idk if yall know what a usdm cb7 accord but this car looks like one of those mixed with a usdm 99 accord. you guys should import on of those because they are dirt cheap here and one of the most slept on hondas around. Hands down my most favorite too

It's not that we are in to agri yokes. Being able to live in Ireland and afford the likes of a glanza now days is impossible or young people. So we work with what we can afford.

The seats are called Recaro Euro Lines, I have them in my CL7 Accord Euro R, I like them a lot, Drive safe guys.
Oh and 3” exhaust with a megaphone h22 wants the 3” exhaust 2.5” isnt enough the head flows enough to support the 3” lad
