Hey Neil i havent commented in a couple of years, i always feel like what i want you to know gets said in the comments, and i really think you deserve all the support you’re getting. Im in my mid 20’s right now and i can barely afford the appartment that i live in, and the 86 is my dream car as well, and thats in no small part because of you aswell, posting these videos through the years, and keeping that love for the 86 alive, it might be over for me in the “japanese car race”, but i’m really grateful that i get to live my dream vicariously through you, and I don’t feel bad about it one bit, because it’s not a given that i get to do this, through someone who’s passionate in keeping that style alive and not just restoring it and locking it away until the time is right to sell, i’m truly grateful i get to follow some random guy who shares a mutual passion, and rambles on about it to the camera, just like i do to my friends, im really thankful for you continuing to put hours into this just to share it with us here on yt, so i just feel i needed to personally throw this out there, and give my thanks to you, Because your story really resonates with me, and not just rambling, not to me at least. Cheers man.
    Edit: sorry for the paragraph

Same here man! But keep up the good fight!
I've got some really cool Japanese mates that I made here in Sydney during their exchange. What they've told me is that prices are going up in Japan too but its mostly because of the US import market and people cashing in. Private sales do happen and sometimes a relative or a family friend might have an old car just sitting in a garage they don't mind passing on or selling it for cheaper than the bogus prices cunts pay these days. I remember my coworker (who's parents are both Japanese) telling me her dad used to drift back in the mid 90s and sold his AE86 and S13 before moving to Aus. He was shocked finding out that those same cars have 20x in prices LOL. Drifting was a biiig among the youth back then and some still have rough gems stored away. I know still a long shot but I think the AE86 I want has to come from Japan and has to be a car someone loved and my purpose is to absolutely drive and love the shit out of it before I eventually pass it on too to someone who'll do the same.
Sammit I think found his blue s15 for 3K USD via one of his friends I think and some good people out there really just want these cars to survive and thrive.
Goodluck my man dont give up on the dream. Your rambling got me commenting which I almost never do myself!

Keep on keeping on dude. I've had some success with living the jap-shit life in the past with some of the less loved cars that are no less fun. It might be worth looking at what's currently not yet bumped in price too much. An MX5 is still a cool cheap option, as would be perhaps some of the MR2 stuff.
Anyways, AE86 dreamers will dream. No shame in that. Who knows one day cars might stop being dumbass prices and we can YOLO ourselves into a huge all-consuming project.

Hey Neil, Id recommend getting all the interior parts that you can, while you still can (carpets, door cards, trim pieces etc)
You dont have to fit them, but you have the option to so long as you can store them (which you can)
Imagine trying to track this stuff down 5/10/15 years from now?
How much harder will it get? How much more expensive will it get?
    Nothing wrong with stashing parts
Plus, once you get older, you'll want this later, trust me (Im 42)
Stripped Interiors are cool and if you've always wanted to do it then do it.
Living with the car long term it'll get old (loud, uncomfortable, cold, tinny etc) and you'll eventually want it to be a bit more comfortable especially if you intend to keep it forever.
Future proof it now while its not too difficult to track the stuff down without it being absurdely expensive
Juicebox is by FAR my favourite channel Big Love from Australia!

I’m a mechanic I can’t afford the jdm ride I want. I’m 30 so these old drifter mobiles like the 240, fc and Corolla are what my buddies and I had in high school and made great memories in. I’m lucky I still have my integra that’s has a nice type r interior and b18c swap I fully restored it with my dad. That car probably gained so much in value since we owned it. That being said I drift a g35 coupe, it’s got all the right stuff like gk tech, BC coils, baisic reliable engine, wide body, seat and wheel but only because it’s like the Corolla of my generation they are everywhere, I can get parts all day long, it’s the same aftermarket support as a 350z. But you will never have the feeling of the 90s cars and the build style isn’t the same, no point in little nic nacs like ARC radiator caps or odd looking air boxes and exhausts from Japan that are no longer made and that’s exactly what made those old cars so cool and fun to build the collection of all the little special brand parts. Can’t wait to see this car done I’m an old man now I was in my mid 20s when you began lol!

Absolutely buzzing for you - massive progress. Been following this on and off since you bought the car and to see it moving with panels on is huge!you must be made up. Almost gonna be a shame for it to get painted tho... Just throw some clear coat on and call it a day. All the best!

Hey Neil thank u for your videos!!
I absolutely love the content. And what u said about the Neil of the past calmed me down alot.. I'm 23 now and building my dream car also since 2017.. Still not finished. Kinda in the same stage as ur 86 in this vid. And I barely can afford to life and build that car.. But maybe it will go uphill in the next year. Hope the late 20's will bring me what they brought u!

90% of a build is the fun of researching, finding the parts needed then negotiating a price and putting it all together. I to feel as though my build isn’t mine and still weighing for that day to hit me. What I’m scared of is when it’s all done will I still have the huger for the chase of parts and miss that bit more than driving the car around!. Always remember it’s your dream your building so who cares what other people say. Negativity only comes from the people that want what you have and are not willing to do everything in there power to achieve what they want, stay safe buddy and don’t forget you are living the dream, enjoy every moment 😉

Statistics for Ireland were difficult to find so I will be using UK stats to make my point. As of Q2 2022 9 Trueno's were registered to drive on the road with 16 on SORN. Using sales figures for the Trueno and Levin you can confidently double that number for it to include the Levin. It is safe to say that in the UK there are less than 30 86's that are legal to drive on the road and less than 100 in any condition at all.
These numbers will be similar or smaller for Ireland. You need to accept that your friends own a significant percentage of the 86 supplies in Ireland and can therefore positively affect the price of the car if that is what they want to do.

I don't chat very often I don't remember if I even have but I have been watching since you picked up this beautiful heap of shit and I'm so happy to see you get all you dream parts for it, I also recently picked up a 80s toyota and I love it even though it's just sat next to my house for a few months it has its issues and I'm not going cheap with it. And I can't wait to see you finish yours it gives me motivation to get moving on mine more
