How to Replace The Coilover On A Nissan Titan/Armada

  • I this video I demonstrate how to replace a shock and spring on a Nissan Titan. This is a nice and simple job that only take a few tools. These same steps can be followed for a Nissan Armada. I completed this job for two reasons. One was to simply refresh the setup since mine was super old. The other was to level the truck. The new setup gave me ~2.25 inches of lift in the front. What do you think of the new look?
    Find the kit here: www.alldogsoffroad.com/assemb...
    Irwin Bolt Extractor Kit: amzn.to/3kaxjBk
    Reminder, these steps will work for many Nissans. Just be sure to check the torque specs as they will vary from one vehicle to another. These same steps will apply to (of similar model years):
    Nissan Armada
    Nissan Xterra
    Nissan Frontier
    Nissan Pathfinder
    Nissan Navara
    Nissan NP300
    Nissan Paladin
    Nissan Roniz
    Infiniti QX56

    ive just discovered your channel and videos like this have given me a novice mechanic(thats being generous) alot of great confidence and advice for working on my 2015 pro 4x. my truck is currently lifted 6" with the rough country lift kit (the one with the block spacer, not the full coil) and i can barely fit 35s on there. so now i need to find the right coil combo i want to go with for better clearance and ride.

      Don’t know if you found what you were looking for. But Radflo 2.5 coilovers with adjustable ride height are what I went with on my 2013 pro4x and they are a game changer. CJD racing sales them.

    If you tighten those top hats to only ~22 lbs, then please, please check them regularly. I've found the stock torque numbers don't hold up well for aftermarket accessories. I need ~40+ ft lbs for the tops hats on my simple Rancho setup.

    Another question. In your video for UCAs, you raised the hub assembly up to take the twisting force off the joint bushings.
    When doing this suspension lift, shouldn't it be advisable to re-do that step of lifting up by the hub, loosening the UCA nut and then retighten after the stress is removed?

      Good point. That would definitely be a good practice.

    Did you have to get the front end alignment done afterwards, I did a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder with similar swap out and had to do an alignment, it did level up the front end and after the alignment it drove a lot better

    • @Rythecarguy
      @Rythecarguy  2 года назад

      Yea. I think an alignment after any significant suspension change is probably a good idea.

    Considering the ADO front assembly for my R51, but I've read that bilsteins may be too stiff. I will openly admit that I want to lift my rig but only as a mall crawler 😁.
    So I'm curious, how's the bilsteins with the ADO coils ride? Much stiffer? Annoyingly stiffer?
    TIA

    • @Rythecarguy
      @Rythecarguy  2 года назад +3

      They are a much much stiffer than stock especially if yours are old and tired. I will say I feel like it make the X drive better. It felt more positive. Steering felt more precise, turning rolled a lot less, and high speeds felt better. It was a good trade off for me.

    • @Rythecarguy

      I can really only speak for the Beilstein 5100’s because other than stock those are the ones I have went with. They are on both my Titan and my Xterra. My Titan has a little over a 2 inch lift on the front as well with HD springs. I like them but I can tell you they ride is stiff. Like stiff stiff. SO be prepared for that. This was a custom prototype spring from All Dogs OffRoad. They loaded it all for me and shipped it as an assembled unit. If you order from them they usually have the assembly service as an option on their website. Highly recommended as the at home spring tensioners won't work on these HD springs.

    I think if you would have sprayed some penetrating oil on those rusty nuts/bolts ahead of time they would have come off easier. I can't believe you got 215K miles out of the stock suspension. I bought my truck used with 99K miles and all of the shocks were rusted and leaking, making all kinds of noises and clunks. I replaced them with Bilsteins as well.

      @@Rythecarguy I may be misguided, but I have an 05 LE Crew Cab 4WD, original owner, 181K, Gulf Coast miles, and when I saw the inner plastic front liners gone, and rust streaks on the actual body, I thought you had a corrosion issue that I have never seen. In fact, I can’t find that kind of corrosion on any front suspension members. I have replaced the front wheel bearing assemblies, opened and lubed the upper and lower control arms (outer ends), as well as inner tie rods. I don’t have rust anywhere. Maybe it’s a salted road issue in a Northern State, and not the inner guards..which you don’t have.? I do appreciate you detail in the strut assembly video. You are a smart guy.👍🙂
