Lovely Cleo. Your finish is great. A tiny tip.... I clip a very small "v" into my front facing seam allowance. This accommodates the turn of cloth where I want the revere collars to turn smoothly. Your fabric is great and you are are very skilled. Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration
Thank u, Thank u, by watching u sewing the back yoke in which I’m still struggling with I’m going to try again with this Vogue pattern that I like, and u made it very clear to me thank u. Now I am getting good during the buttons holes, thank u, be blessed.
did you alter the collar at all? the top looks lower cut than other gilbert’s i’ve seen (which i really like!) though i’m not sure if that’s just a matter of the button placement
Great question! I did not alter the collar and am fairly sure I would have followed the button placement guide as it was. I am (relatively) small on top so it's possible the point of the v does actually sit lower compared to, say, than those more fortunate in that area. 😉
@ Shiran, in response to your comment--this is the button hole cutting set I use: amzn.to/3LZD9Bm, but this one looks identical and currently costs less: amzn.to/3SybV7k 😊
I'm quite late but have a basic question: is there a strategy to deciding when you use flat head pins vs. round head pins vs. clips? I've only work with round heads pins but seen a lot of videos use clips--it seems convenient and that most people use them interchangeably, but since you used different types at different stages I'm wondering if they're slightly better suited to different tasks?
Not late at all and great topic. There’s no one answer for this but generally speaking, I find clips faster and easier to use. They keep the fabric relatively flat, too. I use them anytime I can, which is often along a seam. For the areas that clips can’t reach, that is when I use pins. So in this video, around the facings, etc where clips just can’t fit. Round or flat pins can depend on what you have available! ☺️I have an assortment I gathered over the years - I try to use my flat ones when it’s important that pieces are as flat as possible. The flat ones are also heat resistant so I might grab them because of that. Some are more magnetic than others, too, so really I think you can mix it up based on what you have on hand. Long answer here but I hope that helps!

You bet, I am glad this was helpful! (Love the Gilbert and I have two versions, too.)
I really liked this how you sewed the collar with facing!
Yes, thank you! That step makes it so easy. 😊

Thank you for the video. What is the sewing machine foot attachment you are using when sewing the hem?

How do I adapt to leave out the darts please ?
What is the presser foot you are using?
It's the Bernina 1C--came with the machine and great all-around foot! :)
